I'm really upset about what happened here yesterday. My friends and I were planning to have a happy hour here. We called to make a reservation just in case, and my friend was asked if we were doing dinner or just wine and snacks. We weren't really sure if we'd want to start with happy hour or order dinner eventually as well, and didn't really know why they were asking as they gave no explanation behind the question, so we opted to sit in the dining room since there were four of us and we didn't know that when they asked if we wanted to sit at the bar that it didn't mean sit at an actual bar, but a whole different section of the building structure.
We arrived around 345pm and our server came to our table came by to take our order. We asked about the happy hour specials and she hesitated and said usually they only do happy hour at the bar but that she would check and get back to us. She came back and told us it's not how things usually run, but that the bartender said it was fine, so we proceeded to order off the happy hour menu we were provided with. While we were there our server went in break but introduced the other server who would be taking over. We also ordered more food and drink with him off the happy hour menu. Another lady came by after a while and told us we weren't allowed to have happy hour in the dining room. I told her we had been told we were allowed based on what our server had told us. She was very aggressive and angry and told us this never happens but she would allow it since we had been told it was okay.
I had to leave early while my friends stayed a while longer, so I left my friends with some cash to cover my portion and planned to Venmo whoever the difference after they tallied the bill. This morning I found out that after I left, the same aggressive lady who was upset about us ordering off the happy hour menu came back and said she was a manager there, told my friends no one said it was okay to order happy hour there, and charged full price for everything we had ordered. The bill came out to about $275 between 3 people ordering simple appetizers to share, one main dish, and 2 drinks each (our fourth friend arrived an hour late and paid separately). I wish I had the names of the staff involved, or that I had been there still when this lady pulled this egregious stunt. My friends were so shocked and scared of the lady they just gave in and paid what she claimed they owed.
If you choose to go there for happy hour after reading this, please take care to make sure you're sitting wherever it is they want you to be, and get the name of your server and maybe have them sign a no overcharge waiver! Ok I'm kidding about the waiver, but really. Unbelievable. (Also, don't get the asparagus fries, they were so overly breaded on the outside and soggy in the middle.)
