Possibly my favorite "cocktail lounge" in the valley, mostly because of that killer "Rum Runner", excellent bartenders, and vintage setting.
I always have a good time here, I've taken a date, I've taken friends, and I've taken family here. And they have all kinds of events from Burlesque shows to live rhythm & blues. Make sure to check their calendar online. On our most recent visit we came to celebrate a birthday and service was phenomenal, a hefty birthday shot for the birthday girl and we were unsure about ordering something other than the "Rum Runner" so they gave us the "Peach Retreat" on the house. Prices are also very reasonable for the quality of the drinks.
"The Womack" was a tribute to an iconic 1963 Phoenix cocktail lounge, called "Chez Nous" which played rhythm & blues and was featured in the Rolling Stone's magazine and a set location for the hollywood film, "The Kingdom." "The Womack" is a reference to Chez Nous' original owners - Andy and Maureen Womack. They actually owned other 60's lounges in the valley, one of them being this one, where The Womack is today but sold it in the 70's.
If you like this cocktail lounge, The Womack created by Genuine Concepts (Tucker Woodbury) also created Cobra Arcade Bar, Linger Longer Lounge, and the Little Woody, all which have that vintage flair. If The Womack represents the 60's, then Linger Longer Lounge represents the 70's, Cobra Arcade Bar represents the 80's, and the Little Woody well is more like a hip log cabin but they played 90's music last time I was there, so that counts for something, right?
