8June2024 The last time I was in The Domains, I didn’t know if this spot was here. Now I’m back after 3yrs. I visited this quaint and intimate spot(size of location)and it was a treat. All puns intended. I was here when the doors first opened and I had time to pick what I wanted. Nice variety of flavors for all pallets. You can have regular flavored ice cream or be crafty creative and give your sweet tastebuds a sugar bath in the deliciousness of something excitingly different. There are some wonderful ice cream creations, regular ice cream, and milkshakes. These treats are the best on a hot day or just because you can eat whatever flavor you want. This area has developed beautifully and there is parking all around. Some people like to park in front of the buildings. The space is limited in this location. Do your best to get in early and get a spot or just simply take it with you. You will be glad you stopped in.

We were greeted with a line at the door. Went up to order and we were told 30 minutes wait so we decided to come back later. We went back half an hour later and was able to order some ice cream We waited 20 minutes for some ice cream on a cone. Got the cookies and cream and it tasted like normal ice cream 💯 The wait was long because there was only one guy fulfilling orders. It is not his fault they are understaffed. He was working very hard and gets a gold star for that

We got the cookie dough option and with the display it looked like ice cream and in my animated brain i was expecting it to be cold on the first bite, but it was warm cookie dough and as you ate through the layers of dough and whipped cream you hit cold ice cream with a taste of cookie dough. This part was great. I rating based on that first bite as others will love it.. Go try this location it has plenty to offer.

We didn't expect to have dessert for lunch but we happened to pass by and couldn't resist all the tempting photos! They lived up to our expectations. Delicious ice cream! Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. I recommend sharing because it's a good portion of ice cream if you get the mason jar.

Very overpriced shake, which is fine for a gourmet type shake, but when the actual cheesecake was better tasting than the actual shake!? Not good! Shake literally had no taste and was very watery after it was just made in front of me and handed to me! Don't know if too much milk was used or the ice cream has no taste or both! Threw the Mason jar half full in the trash. Expected way more for what was paid. Sorry, just being honest.

Over the top, delicious, unique and it actually looks like the pictures. If you order the sundae you keep the jar. They even have a sink for you to rinse it in. Fantastic service, and fast, at the time we went. Will absolutely return. 10/10 recommended

The wait can be quite long if you're ordering a pricey specialty, which goes for ~$17 at the time of this review. Definitely paying for the picture presentation. Had to wait about 25 minutes. It tasted fine, but not mindblowing. If you're simply craving for a treat I recommend just getting ice cream.

I love the ice cream, truly I do. I'm a customer at the Georgetown location and I have loved every experience. So why a 3 star review? - The employees seemed a little frazzled and though I was pretty clear in requesting ice cream instead of a milkshake in both jars they still messed up and did one as a milkshake and one as a sundae. I understand mistakes happen but when each jar is $20 I'd really love for my order to be done the way I asked. -The whip cream on the keep Austin weird jar was bitter from the excess of food coloring. I've had the whip cream with colorful streaks before at their other location and it wasn't like this. It just seemed really careless in my opinion. It was so bad I had to remove the whip and toss it because we were getting blue all over. -They don't sell the lids for the mason jars like they do at the Georgetown location, it seemed like they didn't even know what I was talking about. - the chocolate cookie dough they had on the rim of the keep Austin weird was very salty/inedible and that also got thrown away. The strawberry cheesecake was really good though, I wish it was in its sundae form like requested so we could all spoon it versus having to drink it (we were sharing because they're pretty huge). I would've gone in to complain or at least get my order fixed but honestly it was enough hassle putting the order in I just wanted to be done with it.

Beautiful presentation and very tasty milkshakes. I made the mistake of getting distracted by the wide selection of delicious flavors and incredible pictures and ended up not noticing that one milkshake would cost $20 + tax. In hindsight, the price seems fair since it included a glass jar to keep and felt like three whole desserts. That said, I wish I would've gotten something smaller that I could've actually finished eating If you're coming here with your kids you might want to share one milkshake! The shop itself seems very modern and cozy and includes indoor and outdoor seating.

I really like this place. Whether you want to get a huge dessert or just a cup of ice cream, they have that and more. I don't understand the complaints about the $20 price tag... it literally comes in a signature jar and is filled with dessert. And actually I am surprised to see that my sister complained about the "watered down" milkshake because she gobbled the whole thing down in less than 10 min and loves the jar for coffee at home. If you can't afford the specialities then just get a cup of ice cream with toppings like I do. Staff is nice as can be for young people that work in an ice cream shop. Again it's an ICE CREAM shop. And it's a cute one at that, nice decor, or just take it to go and walk around the Domain!

This place is great if you want to take pics of amazing looking ice cream to post to your social media. Not so great if you are looking for a delicious ice cream sundae or milkshake. The presentation is on point but the ingredients are not of high quality. My pics look amazing but I only ate half because you could taste the lack of quality ingredients. I would pass on this place and go to Amy's ice cream for better tasting desserts.

The only things that keep this place in business is the novelty, Blue Bell Ice Cream, and Instagram. That's it. The customer service was meh- no one at the front to greet us, lackluster interactions, quickly leaving to the back when done serving us. The ice cream is good because Blue Bell...the chocolate chip cookie dough was meh. You could tell they did not whip the sugar and butter well and the flavor was almost bland.

One of the best fancy chocolate dessert places I've ever been. Look at the show they make out of it. Ice cream, sprinkles, whip cream, etc. and you get to keep the mason jars. It was made quick too which was great. It was really cold in there even with it being cold outside I could feel the AC blowing on us but I guess it's cause of the dessert. It is expensive but it's worth getting one to share.

Saw them many times while I was in the domain. Decided to walked in to check them out a few time but I always left because I get hit with a very bad smell every single time, the place smelt like sour feet!! Finally said screw it and try it out. Got a milkshake, cost about $20 and it was the worst shake I have ever had. The shake came with a brownie, a cookie, a scoop of cookie dough and the shake itself. The brownie is really bad, it's worse than the brownie box you get for a $1 at HEB, and the cookie tastes way worse than the 50c cookie I get at the gas station. And the cookie dough, it was very grainy and felt like it was left out for a really long time. And the actual shake was very liquidy. They also have a station for you to clean the mug to take it home, and that section was disgusting!!! Please don't waste your money here, it was the worst $20 I have ever spent.

Believe it or not this was on my bucket list as we travel around the US. Maybe I hyped it up too much but wasn't that impressed with this place. We got there and had to wait about 20 minutes to order and then waited another 20 minutes for the milkshakes. The place is very small with very limited seating. So 3 shakes cost us $72 with tip ( it's an experience so I didn't choke too much over the price). I knew it was going to be expensive. My husband really enjoyed his Praline shake. My strawberry cheesecake shake looked so cool but the shake had bits of ice. Didn't like that at all. The cheesecake itself was partially frozen but tasted good. My son said his was good but definitely not worth the price. So I can check this off my list and won't be returning again.

The Yard is a fun experience, for sure, and offers the cutest mason jars you can purchase and take home (and even a sink to wash them), but the milkshakes are so decadent we never finish them and it feels like a bit of a waste. I wish they offered mini sizes so you still get the fun experience of a beautifully customized milkshake without feeling wasteful. This spot is always fun to take first timers to or friends and family from out of town, since the mason jars do make cute souvenirs.

I didn't get anything myself, but stopped in with my partner who did. I had to sign a nut allergy waiver, which is the only time in my life I've had to do that but does make sense. 3.5% service fee for using credit cards. The entry door was a bit confusing. I can see how people get confused on which side to start from. We found the specialty milkshakes to be pretty expensive and crazy looking and elected to go with a "standard" pint milkshake. Many flavors were unavailable and my partner selected the Salted Caramel. I had a taste to see if I would have an allergic reaction and found it drinkable. The milkshake was more liquid in consistency than other milkshakes I've had, which are thicker. There were many chunks of cookie or chocolate or something at the bottom which made it more difficult to drink. Overall, you're paying for the variety in selection but the quality of the milkshakes is mediocre. Refreshing in the Austin heat and likely the better options in the Domain, but they ran out of many things and the specialty milkshakes seem like way too much sugar.

been here b4 but it's gone WAAAY downhill! We went in, each case had 6-8 diff ice creams in it..but only 2 labels?! I guess your just supposed to GUESS what the flavors are? Because only 1 girl was making cones N stuff for customers while 3 other teen girls just hid back against the wall doing virtually nothing. There was 1 boy but he was busy bringing out new tubs of ice cream. I FINALLY had to ask the (only) girl who was working, if I could try one, this was WHILE she was making someone elses cone!!! Meanwhile the other 3 just did nothing! We had to wait a LONG time in line then when we finally got up to the register, my wife needs dairy free, only then did we find out the ONLY d-free they had was chocolate?! It was dirty in there too! Unless things change drastically.... that place will be gone!

I honestly bought these milkshakes just to take a picture, but they are HUGE and I couldn't finish it at all! One milkshake would be good to share. But beware, they're extremely sweet. You do get to keep the cup :)

They advertise multiple vegan and non dairy options but on arrival tell you they offer none! Absolute trick to get people here. They don't even bother to mark it off on the menu or tape a sign saying they are out of it. Instead they let you stand in line and than say we don't sell it. Also out of several other products as well

The dessert here is absolutely fantastic!! One of the best, if not the best, dessert places in Austin in my opinion. While the wait can sometimes be a little long, it's because they custom make everyone's order and everything this delicious. Oh, and don't look at how many calories are on all their offerings lol

We were out for a walk after dinner and doing some window shopping when we came across The Yard Milkshake Bar. We had never been here, and quite frankly I've never heard of them. After we ordered my wife asked me if I had read the reviews prior to ordering. Still in shock at the $23 sticker price I said I hadn't read the reviews. My wife wanted the cookie dough "special" they had. It comes fully loaded, chocolate chip cookie, brownie, glob of cookie dough and a ton of chocolate chips. These shakes (?) are designed for the presentation because they're impossible to have without a huge mess. The shake itself was good but not something I would come back and pay that much again. I don't mind spending good money on good new tastings, this just wasn't for us. 3 stars for the people working here, they were friendly and quick.

This is a cute place to bring a date, or just have something sweet to eat with a friend. There's a sink to wash your jars to take home, which I think is interactive and unique. There are not only the specialty milkshakes but you can get popsicles and scoops. I like that the location is right In the middle of everything, this would be great for summer time. I ordered the Cookie Monster milkshake which tasted well, but I did think the cookie I got tasted bland and the texture seemed a bit stale.

Best dessert place ever. Anytime I'm in the area i want to go. The warm cookie dough paired with the icecream is amazing

What an epic insane idea! These are over the top and delicious! The employees were extremely nice and helpful! My only issue- this location is very small and there are no descriptions on the items. Overall price point is high but you get what you pay for!

Ive been meaning to stop by for a year now but I finally made it on a chilly november night. Not the ideal time for a cold shake but absolutely worth it for me! I got the pralines and cream after spending way too long deciding and i loved it. It is huge so make sure you take someone to share. Service was fast and nice, the restaurant is clean and enough seating.

I was excited someone told me how great it was so I'm trying right! Well when I came in and started looking at the ice cream I was a little apprehensive a lot of the ice cream had ice crystals on them and the barrels or containers the ice cream came in were broken and torn wasn't really happy about that but still I tried , I ordered a oatmeal milkshake and it was ok but not for the price especially when the show all these glamorous pictures of 18$ and 20$ cups of ice cream. But service was good and place clean . Thank you

It's small inside so not much room to sit. They work pretty fast. The ice cream was good but there is a lot to eat for 1 or even 2 ppl. It definitely makes a mess but the presentation is cute. The prices are higher than other places I've tried. I would go once to experience it. But they're are other shake/ I've cream places that are just as good for cheaper.

I really enjoyed trying this for the first time. I had seen it all over social media and I thought it was great! They had so many fun options. I got to enjoy my ice cream with my fur child too!

Such a cute little place! The ice creams/ milkshakes they have are so decadent and presented very well. The only thing is it's a bit pricy for what it is. There's a washing station inside to wash your glass jar so you can bring it home with you!

very disappointed- it's all looks but no flavor the ice cream was completely melted in the jar from the moment it was brought out. the whipped cream is generic, the fudge has no real chocolate flavor, the cookie dough and brownie were stale... we tried the keep Austin weird and the brookie batter and didn't even eat a third of it. $40 poorly spent and will never go back. it's just a big disappointing mess. for the price you pay, at least use flavorful ingredients

The service is great, everyone is kind and the venue is really cute too. However, the shakes themselves are really messy and are way too sweet. I have a sweet tooth but this will cause a toothache :(. Moreover it's very pricey for what it is, I think it's because you get to keep the cup, which is cool, but it's really gross because you just have to carry a large sticky mug around with you and in your car.

The Milkshakes are pretty, but way too overrated. I like when a milkshake is thick, but this one was on the runny side. We ordered the chocolate peanut butter, and it was just lacking in flavor. We also tried the mango ice cream and the butter pecan, and they were just okay. Nothing to write home about. They quoted us 30mins just for the 3 scoops of ice cream. To me, this is one of those places that's serving pretty food, that's lacking in actual flavor.

Milkshake was just simple. For $9 you'd expect it to be something special. Waited 10 minutes for a milkshake and we were the only ones there.

We got the classic banana split which was delish. The service was horrible and it's probably because of the ambiance the workers were serving in. It seemed like the Ac wasn't working and management still had the place open. I felt so bad and didn't take it personal if the worker wasn't in good spirits. I am very disappointed in the management. It was cooler outside the place and poor employees. I will never go back just based how the management treated the employees working in this conditions.

I felt really bad for these employees working this HOLIDAY weekend. The entire place was as in such bad shape. The tables outside were filled with trash, and the inside was worse with everyone crowding around. There are giant ACs, that seem hard to work around in such a small space. Poor cashier had to stop taking orders for 25 mins *he thanked us for understanding* to catch up on orders. Came here because I saw the shark tank episode, and I'm disappointed.

Every time I'm in Austin I make it a point to stop here. I wish the location was slightly bigger but I understand it's because of the lot. It's always crowded when I come. I'm always happy with what I order. The milkshakes are delicious and I have a nice little collection of the jars now from different locations.

Good evening, or it was... I just purchased the "Frozen Lemonade" milkshake for a solid $20. This was one of the worst decisions of my entire life. Words can't describe how putrid and utterly disgusting this dessert tastes and feels going down my esophagus. It can only be described as "munting the nearest person" then coming to realize there's no one to munt. Day=Ruined Toilet=Destroyed. This facility and everyone who works here is now considered my "opp."

Massively overpriced for what it is. It's bluebell ice cream for 4x the price. The cookies are horrible, hard as a rock, tasted like it had been baked a week ago. Stay away.

Took my family to Yard Milkshake Bar for a day out. It was delicious! We were able to order and sit at a small table inside. The shake was as big as my head, we ordered the banana split shake and Coolie Monster ice cream cone. Will return especially for dessert on a date night.

Good ice cream. Decently priced too. They are out of a couple ice creams so we had to get our second choice. It's not the cleanest of places. They have these cool, fancy shakes but then serve them on a paper plate making them look cheap. Service was good, but seems to be ran by a younger group.

25-30 min wait for a scoop of vanilla ice cream on a sugar cone. Really bro!?!?!?! I understand they have all these elaborate milkshakes and they take time to make. But there has to be a way to prioritize the simple request. Get it together people.

Such an awesome experience! The treats here are not only over the top and beautiful to look at but absolutely delicious! I was worried that the products would be more focused on aesthetic presentation and having the instagrammable factor but the taste is out of this world. All of the textures and flavors complement each other so well. The milkshake consistency is a little more runny than the average milkshake but it is refreshing after finishing all the dense whip cream and toppings. Yes, it is very expensive but in my opinion it is totally worth it for people of every age. They are also large enough to share. Bonus points for having gluten friendly and vegan options!

The experience was terrible- stopped at the Domain location to buy a cone for our daughter and it literally took 30 minutes- two employees during SXSW and spring break - if you are charging 8-20 dollars for ice cream cones and shakes please hire enough staff- the staff was super frazzled and people complained about orders- not staff fault - not a well managed business .

The yard has been on our list for a while but I've heard it's overpriced and over rated. Sadly that's a little true. But you can't beat a little girl getting a unicorn shake and everything she's ever wanted! Sprinkles, ice cream, cotton candy, it was her dream! So for that I'll give an extra star.

So close to a 5.... We're talking outstanding YUM and artistic design provided by a polite and hard working staff. We enjoyed every scoop, slurp and lick. Flavorful and beautiful! As good as it was when there's not enough staff to keep up with demand, I just can't go five. We waited 40 minutes from order to food delivery at our table. The two ladies working were clearly doing the best they could, and I know it's hard to get staff right now - so that's my only reason for not scoring it a 5.

Delicious ice cream and wild concoctions! Stopped in for a Sunday treat. I was surprised to see it wasn't super busy for midday Sunday in the summer. It did quickly fill up after we ordered. The employees are all young people who are really doing their best to handle a very high volume product in a prime location at the Domain. All things considered, they did a good job. It did take like 20 minutes for our ice creams to come out even though they weren't busy when we walked in. They did run out of cheesecake but let my sister sub in another topping. The shop itself is not big, it has 3 tables and two bars with seats but it was totally full. There is also outdoor seating. The portions are massive, I brought my brownie home. We didn't even get the jar option, it was just too much ice cream. I think the price matches the value. It's definitely something you'd get on a special occasion. My niece was thrilled. We will definitely be going back to try some other treats!

Huge over the top concoction of confections with flavors mad scientists would dream up! These Frankenstein shakes were more then my boys could handle, but they tried. The line was long... The wait was ridiculous... The staff was impatient and really kind of rude. But ohhhh the shakes!! The monster shakes were pieces of art to behold.. da Vinci must have been in the back... or maybe it was Picasso? No matter the product was amazing! Most importantly though... my boys loved them. It is worth braving the line, almost worth the wait... however the staff needs to realize... even if their milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard... they better respect their customers!

Ummmm, aaaaaand these milkshakes are deeeeelicious! All of them! Plus they are gorgeous. I love the artsy way they are decorated. There was so much to do in Austin Texas and this is a must do. Texas does it big, these are the biggest, tastiest and prettiest milkshakes I've evaaaa seen!!

CAn I give 0 stars, no I have to give 1 to write review! Whenever we pass Yard Milkshake, our kiddo always wanted to go there, and finally we went, as soon we entered, I felt like a dirty restroom, even restrooms in Domain are much cleaner than this place, Floor, walls, ice cream case, everything is so dirty, so wanted to come out immediately but my kiddo dint want to‍ So instead of 2, I ordered 1, we did build our own, picked caramel based ice cream. toppings : Cookie Crisp, Oreo crumble, whipped cream and crushed cone. Special Topping: Brownie. They hadn't even blended the ice cream properly, it dint had milkshake texture, it was watery, ice cream lumps, and so so sweet. Toppings were a joke, whipped cream was the only thing, we could taste, other toppings were hardly there, we couldn't even taste any, you can see in the picture. Special topping Brownie was dry as a cardboard, it was so dry and stale, so we dint eat it. The girl who bought our Milkshake, was like, she dint want to be there, she dint even handed it over properly, so whipped cream fell and was a mess, and I really don't understand why they over pour milkshake, it's so messy for kids. And it's $20+ for one milkshake with tips, so do yourself a favor and walk few steps to Starbucks, pay 1/4th and get a much much better Frappuccino or a milkshake in a fast food place.

The ice creams are the most creamy and delicious I think I've ever had. The servings are HUGE...we got 2 scoops and it was more like 4! And the milkshakes...you have to see them to believe them! Check them out online and you will definitely want to go!

I saw a child walk by with the most amazing looking jar of ice cream and finding the place it came from became my mission in life. As I stepped inside fun music greeted me, but the song stuck in my head from the moment I read the name of the restaurant, had to do with milkshakes, boys and a bar. ;) There are so many choices, they couldn't fit them all on their menu, so QR codes are everywhere so that you can download the full menu. I would do this before you go so that you don't hold up the line. I choose the smores cup and was a little disappointed when they told me they were out of the smore bar they normally place on top. I choose the large, soft delicious chocolate brownie in its stead. So much flavor! I only managed to eat half of it before I was way to full to take another bite.

If you want to find a delicious milkshake that looks equally as yummy, look no further. The Yard's milkshakes are creamy, sweet, and loaded with toppings. They come in cute little, take-home mason jars as a souvenir, and they come in 1 size. They are a good size for sharing, but they are a little pricey. They are around $13. Overall, not much different than a cookies and crème milkshake, but the place itself was very cute. They also sold ice cream in the cup and cone, and it was located within the outlets. I recommend as a one time thing to try for the experience.

The ice cream is delicious, but the price for their milkshake is not a daily purchase due to the $20 price tag. I stuck to a cone and was just as happy. Their milkshakes are over the top, and when I saw someone else's, I could see why maybe it was that high, but I will never buy one.

Popular spot so expect to wait. But the choices are endless when it comes to ice cream, milkshakes, and cookie doughs. A pricy experience and I highly recommend you try it at least once. They accept Apple Pay. You read what you'd like off the menu and then place your order at checkout. Park in the pink parking at The Domain and you'll be close. Fun time here!
