An Indian Restaurant From An Overseas Celebrity Chef Heads to Plano | Eater Dallas

"An Indian restaurant chain originating in India that is opening its first Texas location this summer as only the fourth U.S. outpost. Founded and menu-created by celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor, the concept promises a “gastronomic tour” across India with an extensive menu: highlights include shaam savera (spinach koftas filled with creamed cottage cheese, served floating on a tomato butter gravy) and puran singh da tariwala murgh (a chicken gravy), along with a long list of curries, soups, salads, rice dishes, Indian flatbreads, and entrees featuring chicken, fish, lamb or vegetarian options. The debut date is forthcoming." - Alaena Hostetter

Absolutely! Here’s a longer, more detailed version of your Google review — it keeps your honest feedback and personal experience but expands on the descriptions, emotions, and context to make it engaging and helpful for future diners: We recently visited The Yellow Chili in Plano for the first time, and overall, we had a really good experience — especially when it came to the food. Everything we ordered was flavorful, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. I can see why so many people recommend this place, and I’d absolutely go back again for the dishes alone. The restaurant itself is a bit smaller inside than I expected from the outside, but once we were seated, I was impressed by how elegant and welcoming it looked. The décor is stylish yet comfortable, and the lighting and atmosphere make it feel warm and inviting. It’s definitely one of those places that feels perfect for both a casual dinner and a special night out. Now, onto the food — we ordered two main dishes: the Butter Chicken and another one that had a coconut-based sauce (I wish I could remember the name!). Both were delicious, rich, and full of complex flavors. The butter chicken was creamy and perfectly spiced without being overpowering, and the coconut dish had this subtle sweetness that balanced everything beautifully. The portion sizes were generous too, which was a nice surprise. Where the experience fell short, unfortunately, was the service. We mentioned to our waitress that it was our first time visiting and that we weren’t too familiar with Indian cuisine, hoping she might offer a few recommendations or explain some of the options. Instead, she just looked at us as if we were joking and didn’t offer any suggestions at all. It was a little awkward, and it made us feel like we were bothering her just by asking. Because of that, we ended up just ordering a couple of main dishes instead of exploring appetizers or other menu items — which was disappointing, since we genuinely wanted to learn more about the cuisine. I think a little friendliness or guidance would have gone a long way in making the experience more welcoming. Despite that, I can’t say enough good things about the food itself. Every bite was delicious, and it’s clear that the kitchen knows what they’re doing. If the service had matched the quality of the food and the atmosphere, this would have been an easy five-star review. Overall, I’d still recommend The Yellow Chili to anyone who loves flavorful, authentic Indian food. Just be prepared that the service might not be as warm or attentive as you’d hope — but the food is definitely worth the visit.

Don’t be fooled by the pictures—the camera did a good job. Not sure where to begin. I’ve never been to a restaurant where you don’t even know who your server is until it’s time to pay the bill. The service was absolutely terrible. As for the ambiance, there’s really nothing worth mentioning except for one nice wall painting of a woman. The food was overloaded with masala and lacked anything memorable—biryani was so bad- though the dessert was surprisingly good.

Visited The Yellow Chilli and had such a good experience! The Aam Panna was so refreshing, the Chatpatta Seekh Kabab was perfectly spiced, and both the Nalli Rogan Josh and Patiala Chicken were full of rich, delicious flavors. Great food, nice ambiance, and friendly service—definitely worth a visit!

Must-Try Restaurant with Delicious Food This restaurant is definitely worth a visit! The food was flavorful, fresh, and overall a great experience. Here’s what we tried: • Drink: Peru Pyala – refreshing • Appetizer: Harippa Paneer Tikka – tasty and well-cooked • Main Course: • Sham Savera – not our favorite • Paneer Pasanda – absolutely delicious, with paneer that tasted homemade • Rice: Paneer Tawa Pulav – the Paneer Tawa Pulav was outstanding and a must-try! The prices are a bit higher compared to other Indian restaurants, but the quality and taste make it totally worth it. Highly recommend for anyone looking for authentic and delicious Indian food.

The Yellow Chilli, curated by the legendary Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, the chef we’ve all grown up watching, is a must-visit for every food lover. It offers an exceptional dining experience with something for everyone: vegetarian, non-vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and even Jain options all under one roof. The staff is warm, respectful and attentive and just being there gives you a special feeling. The food quality is unmatched! My family and I tried the Harippa Paneer Tikka, Lehsuni Hara Murgh and Ganga Jamuna mocktail, each one was bursting with flavor and came in generous portions. If you’ve admired Chef Sanjeev Kapoor over the years, trying his restaurant is a must!

I visited this place again after 3.5 years to celebrate a special occasion based on previous good experience. Don’t know if the chef has changed in the recent times but the food ordered is flavorless and it doesn’t deserve to call itself as a Sanjeev Kapoor restaurant. Don’t know if this is a fine dine but the atmosphere is nothing special. No salt or pepper in the chicken mushroom soup. No flavor is Paneer Sangam. The Chettinad chicken was horrible. 5 shrimp in the Batti Jenga dish and they were okay and nothing great. Only the Peru Pyasa was good. The staff did not even bother to ask how was the food. I will not recommend The Yellow Chilli to anyone and don’t waste their time.

Consistently Excellent – A Standout in DFW The Yellow Chilli has become one of our go-to spots for Indian food in DFW, and the best thing about this place is its consistency. Unlike many other Indian restaurants in the area, you can count on them to deliver the same high-quality food and flavors every time. The menu is curated with care, offering a refined twist on classic Indian dishes without compromising authenticity. Every dish is well-balanced, beautifully presented, and flavorful. Service is efficient and the ambiance strikes a great balance between upscale and comfortable. If you’re looking for a reliable Indian dining experience in DFW that doesn’t fluctuate in quality, this is the place. Highly recommend!

Best Indian food in all of Texas. They are a family owned restaurant who are such sweet people. We love coming here! The lamb chops are out of this world, so is the chicken and salmon. The cocktails are unique and amazing!
