When I think of places to eat that has Cambodian food, it is honestly hard to name because there is not that many in the greater Seattle area. This restaurant offers more affordable, fairly delicious Cambodian food in Federal Way, amongst a plethora of Korean restaurants nearby. I drove specifically to eat here, and trust me, it was a worthwhile 1 hour drive down from Seattle. My friend and I shared the combination meal and Noeum Banch Jhok which was way more than enough food. Technically, the combination meal ($28.99) is enough for 2 people, but I was extra hungry and this was my one and only meal for that day.
Combination meal features #1-3. The lemongrass beef and chicken meatball is my favorite of the 3, followed by the jumbo stuffed chicken wing. The baked lemongrass coconut quarter chicken is good but not as outstanding as the other two. I really love their extensive and generous use of lemongrass, my favorite herb, and the owner also mentioned that their Cambodian cuisine leverages more lemongrass and less of coconut, which I absolutely do not mind at all.
The Noeum Banch Jhok was a noodle dish that is intentionally served lukewarm, with lemongrass and coconut combination. The noodles here are not really vermicelli but still fairly thin, which soaks up the sauces well. There is a hint of fishy flavor with chicken, which is how the ingredients stacked up. This was a great unique dish that I wouldn't really see it that common around the area, so I am happy with trying it.
Service is okay (could be better with water served with the first round). Food came out quickly, and the owner is really friendly as we had a nice conversation after our meal as there were no new customers at that time, and there was heavy rain when we concluded our meal. I definitely see myself coming here again, since of the few places I went to that serves up Cambodian food, this one is most affordable and fairly delicious.
