Best broccoli I ever ate - and I’ve been vegetarian most of my life. The Vegan Nigerian Jollof with flavorful rice and kale is incredible. The fresh Hibiscus Zobo Juice with pineapples, too. I’m sure all tastes delicious. I have been coming back every time when on The Rockaways. Relaxed atmosphere with tasteful decoration. Super friendly owner. Wishing them all the best and success!

Brunch in outdoor patio during spring like November group of 4 ordered 2 beef bowls, 1 chicken bowl and rockfish okele plus a side of fried yucca for <70 + tip nd taxes. Each bowl had fried plaintains pigeon peas jollof and tender meat in savory tomato based stew sauce...the okele was spinach with dried fish and crayfish stew and fried fish with steamed yucca mash...a filling feast reminding me of dining in lagos.

First time and I will be eating from here regularly. This food and smoothie was amazing..I had the vegan bowl, everything was seasoned perfectly. The kale salad, the broccoli omg and the plantains and the Jallof rice was too good😋😋😋the yellow papaya smoothie was bland but bland is good with seasoned bowls like this...Great job The Cradle ...proud of u❤❤❤

Staff is so friendly. They will explain anything you’re confused about. The food is great!!! Fresh, healthy, delicious!! Recommend it 200%! Reasoning prices too! Got the egusi soup with mixed meat and iyan (pounded yam), with a side or roasted broccoli and plantains. 😍😍😍 also try his wife’s hot sauce! Really hits the spot 😂 this Nigerian food is great

New to me, I'm not too familiar with W African cuisine so I tried the samosas on a lark... And I will be BACK! Can't wait to check out everything. Great vibes and wonderful hot sauce!

NIGERIA 🇳🇬 Eat the World NYC review: One of the main drawbacks of visiting the Rockaways is that the vendors on the beach can sometimes be a bit lacking in terms of flavor and history. Some operations come and go offering hints of countries they may or may not have connections to, but in the end the food has been altered, often intentionally, to cater to the tastes of the weekend crowds arriving on shuttles from Williamsburg. As shown before on these pages, there are good neighborhood options, but sometimes you just want to stroll up shirtless and order some lunch. Thankfully for all interested, Mr. Babajide Alao, who lives nearby and will introduce himself to you as "Jide" with an ear to ear smile that can almost set the boardwalk on fire, has decided to bring his young catering business to the sea and his brand new food cart, now in its fourth week of operation. The combination above included jollof rice, seasoned beef, and fried sweet plantains. On a second trip back to the cart (below), baked seasoned chicken and sweet potatoes were swapped out. His vegan jollof rice had to stay, as it was very tasty. As with this, the chef seems interested in making sure the traditional recipes he knows are kept as healthy as possible. These bowls had no lingering effects nor did they require a 30 minute wait before jumping back in the ocean. West African food that leaves you feeling light as a feather.

This is the type of food where you can eat this on a hot beach day and have a nice nap right after or on a rainy day it could be a comfort food to ease you into sleep. This was my comfort food growing up but I couldn’t make it just right. The Cradle makes it just right every time. For those who would like to try Nigerian food, this spot will help explore your options. The owner is easy to talk to about your likes and dislikes and can help you pick your options.

Amazing chicken stew and jollaf rice! Hibiscus iced tea was delicious and had bits of fresh pineapple 😋
