"Cozy corner restaurant, big breakfast flavors. Theo’s opens up bright and early at 6 a.m., serving up globe-trotting bites, from English breakfasts to eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon, and Irish corned beef. Since Theo’s offers Italian and Brazilian fare for lunch and dinner, it’s no surprise that you can find Italian sausage and picanha, or Brazilian steak, to pair with eggs for your morning meal." - Nathan Tavares

"Theo (pronounced Teh-Oh) Cristo grew up in Espírito Santo. Today, the restaurant he opened nearly three decades ago in Boston’s North End flies American, Italian, and Brazilian flags outside, but the house special is pure Espírito Santo tradition — moqueca Capixaba. Not to be confused with moqueca Baiana, the state of Bahia’s method that uses palm oil and coconut milk, Cristo uses strictly olive oil. His moqueca is lighter and accentuates fresh tomato, cilantro, and house-made hot sauce. To some Brazilians, palm oil and olive oil is the difference between mere fish stew and a tropical elixir that transports you home. “This place has the best moqueca in Boston,” said a customer one afternoon at Theo’s. “The best in Brazil,” amended another." - Drew Hulse

Delicious food, excellent service & lively, cozy, comfortable atmosphere! Theo's is a must visit for anyone traveling to Boston. Cash only. Generous portions, expert execution on the omelet & home fries. If you like a little extra spice, ask for their in-house sauce. My wife & I couldn’t get enough of their hot pepper spicy sauce, so we bought a bottle to take home.

Charming and fun. Very small with 6-7 tables. Diner style. Cash only. The owners story is amazing. His passion for his place (and his hot sauce is amazing).

Small restaurant. Food was great. Their homemade hot sauce is no joke. Very spicy but good!

I had really high expectations for this place, but unfortunately it fell short for me. I enjoyed the coffee and the eggs, but that was about it. I ordered the French toast as well and was SO excited for it. To the eye, it looks realllllyyy good. To the taste buds...not so much. I was very disappointed. No flavor at all in the toast itself. I had to drown it in syrup in order to taste anything. It's like the batter the bread was dipped in had nothing to it at all. After seeing the reviews for this place, I was really excited to try it, but after my experience, I'm very hesitant to go back.

This place is definitely one of Boston's favorite. Definitely kind of like a mom and pop hole in the wall but the food is great, however the place is really small and you're basically elbow to Elbow with your neighbor so if you don't like confine places don't bother coming. But luckily I'm not an introvert so I meant a lot of people that were sitting next to me and some were from the same state that I was from so we just talked the whole time while waiting on our food. There are two servers and the service were good and nice. It's a cash Place only so don't bring your card here. They give you plenty of food and again like I said the food is pretty good. But you have to wait outside in line so there's No Reservations there's no wait list you wait in line until your turn so hopefully you won't go when it's cold

1. CASH ONLY ESTABLISHMENT. there is an atm down the street but it’s an inconvenience finding this out at the end of your meal. 2. Food is good- it’s what you’d expect from a diner. 3. Very very small. Maybe about 30 seats in house total with tight walking quarters. Went around 7:45 am on Christmas Eve and there was no line but just about every table was taken. 4. Friendly staff :)

Definitely a hidden gem! We came late for lunch so the place was not busy. Theo and team were there and they are friendly and welcoming us. We order basic cheese burger, Theo’s special burger and Theo special brazilian rice dish. All dishes were so delicious!! They look basic but very flavourful. We are happy with our order, the service and we’re priced reasonably. The rice dish though was a lot so you can share if you are a light eater.

Been saved in my "favorites" locations for a while. Theo and Renaldo run a great place that many locals come to. Watch out for weekend mornings for breakfast, many tourists have been stopping by to get a taste so there's been a wait lately!! Unfortunately there's no reservations and the place is cash only (like most of the neighborhood). There's an ATM in Salem st market and at the corner of Hull st. Good portions especially for the price and very friendly staff. Definitely Recommend!
