They Say Restaurant Opens New Harper Woods Location With Live Jazz - Eater Detroit
"Detroit jazz restaurant favorite They Say is opening its new location today in Harper Woods. The standalone restaurant is located in a former Applebee’s Bar & Grill building at 17810 Vernier Rd. near the Eastland Mall. It’s the second They Say outpost for owner Terry Payne, Sr., who opened the first establishment back in 2006 on Joseph Campau in the Rivertown Warehouse District, per a release. The newest venture seats 200 people and will serve They Say mainstays such as chicken wings and ribs. Diners can also expect newer choices from chef Gerald Gregory such as beef short ribs, Italian subs, and a seafood trio, the Detroit News reports. Customers can also look forward to live jazz on from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays with a $5 cover. As part of the opening celebration, the restaurant is waving its cover charge Wednesday, May 1 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. during a performance by Sound Proof Jazz as well as from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 2 and Friday, May 3." - Brenna Houck
Ordered the Cajun “Alfredo” Fettuccine Pasta w/ Shrimp. It came with 4 pieces of Shrimp. 1 of the 4 pieces of shrimp is pictured below. The sauce is extremely thick! This is the thickest Alfredo sauce I’ve ever had. It seems more like cheese than Alfredo sauce. The dinner roll would’ve been okay had they not put those Parmesan crumbles on it. The Parmesan crumble was an another no. The string like pieces in the second photo came off the sides of the shrimp. Whatever it was it couldn’t be chewed. Paid $20 or $21 total. Portions are light. The first thing I said to myself when I got the bag was how lightweight it felt. First time and I probably won’t go back unfortunately.

I had a fantastic experience at They Say in Harper Woods. Our waitress was exceptional, providing excellent service throughout. The atmosphere was pleasant and cozy. The turkey chops were remarkably flavorful and meaty, and the Cajun Alfredo pasta was zesty and cooked to perfection. A highly recommended spot for a satisfying dining experience.

Now y’all know y’all so wrong for the weak ass potato skin’s.then added literally 2 pieces of chicken to each one that was beyond stingy of who ever made em .then it’s more green onions than it is of chicken and also it’s so dry no butter just warmed up … ,but the Caesar salad is actually good I’ll get again but do a recall on those “potato skins “ cause that’s what it taste like.

I just can't believe how bad the rib tips we're. It's very tough, But the barbecue sauce was great, They said they have season fries , not good, The worst of it all was the coleslaw Just not a good taste...

The food was great! I recommend the lamb chops, greens, & macaroni & cheese. You will love it. I hadn’t been there in 2 years, but the food, live music, and ambiance was really nice. If I may say, the waitress could work on being a bit more friendly. She wasn’t bad just indifferent & a little slow. Don’t get me wrong though, the food made up for that.

The food was amazing! Got the Jazz Burger and a side cup of the They Say Sauce... Burger appears 5 star, and tases just as good. French fries seem beer battered and don't need any sauce, though their BBQ sauce makes them smack even more! I will definitely be returning. Staff is friendly, food was perfect, food preparation was super speedy, and the inside looks spectacular for a good date night!
Only complaint was that my burger was rang up as the more expensive burger... But with the quality I'm gonna let it slide! Keep up the great work!
