Where to Find Houston’s Best Banh Mi Sandwiches | Eater Houston

"While there are a few tables at this small, family-owned shop, it has in recent years, pivoted to mainly to-go orders. Pick up a banh mi, some Vietnamese desserts, or the signature banh bao (steamed buns filled with savory pork, Chinese sausage, and hard-boiled eggs). The menu is straight to the point, with three banh mi options: a combination special, meatball, and grilled lemongrass pork." - Minh Truong

Best Pho Restaurants in Houston | Eater Houston

"The owners of Thiem Hung Bakery on Bellaire have opened a full service restaurant counterpart on Clay Road. The restaurant serves the bánh mì and bánh bao they are known for, but have also added other Vietnamese fare to the menu, including pho. They keep it simple with four beef options and a chicken pho, served in a savory broth that is cooked for 24 hours." - Minh Truong

Bánh Mì and Bánh Bao are probably the best in town! I love their pate, so yummy and so irresistible! I tried their Coffee with condensed milk (the famous Saigon Ca Phe Sua Da) and it is amazing!

Went there today at 1pm. Site said it was open. Door hours said it was open. It was closed. This is not the first time this has happened. Food is pretty good but I can’t drive 45 minutes to an hour to discover the store is closed. Not worth the hassle.

Google
Rude service, bland food, and no accountability. I spent over $100 here. Asked if they had vegetarian options — got attitude. Requested extra soy sauce — they said it was already salty, but all four bánh mì were bland. Came back to ask for more — now they want me to pay for it. When I questioned them, they said nothing and looked like they wanted me to leave. If you treat customers like this, don’t expect them to return. Everything I said is true. I’m not changing my review. I ate the sandwich without any soy sauce, and then was told I had to change what I wrote? The girl clearly told me there’s no extra soy sauce unless I pay for it.

This is probably under new management. Only my second time going here and will be my last. I was very disappointed with purchase of $71 which is not a small purchase all the items I bought was very mediocre. Nước mát was not filled to top of the cup. Bánh bông Lan không và trứng muối was so dry as if it was old cakes. I asked to make sure and they guaranteed all there stuff was fresh. Not the case at all. Worst of all I bought durian creme puffs and when I tried it that day it was bad. A sourness and oder to it. I also got tre, which it was slimy and the meat had a stinky taste to it. Bánh mì was not all that great. I wanted ti return every single items. I don’t know what kind of business they are running with selling old food that’s not up to standards. Why is the health department not cracking down on these businesses. I will not ever come back to support this place and do not recommend this place. What a waste of my money. A lot of Asian business does not care and will not refund for selling bad products. Response from owner only discuss that they are reputable to protect their business, but bottom line is the durian cream puffs was bad. That they have to take accountability for and it’s not due to my taste. It was late for me to bring the stuff back and a waste of my time, so I will take this as a lost on my end.

I came here for the bo ne and it was just okay. The service was mediocre. I waited about 20 minutes to get water. The place wasn’t packed or busy, it just seemed that they forgot. I ordered the Bo Ne Dac Biet, which is the special bo ne option, it has slightly more meat than the regular for $2 extra. The bread that came out with it was perfect, crispy and fresh out the oven. The bo ne however was just okay. I think it’s a little on the sweet side, sweeter than most bo ne places. However it wasn’t bad. 3/5 I give places 3 tries before I absolutely don’t return so maybe it can just be a bad day. I’ll update whenever I come back one day. I heard so much rave from family about this place and when I went with them, they said today wasn’t good. So that can honestly be the verdict for itself.

Google
A delightful bakery and café offering a variety of Vietnamese buns, sandwiches, beverages, and desserts. I highly recommend visiting this establishment. They have recently undergone a renovation, resulting in a more contemporary ambiance.

Google
This place is BS come to charge CC. Instead of charge 3% which i can understand some of small business pass on to customer. They said charge tax for it which 8.25 which i find it so BS. Just be aware folks out there.

Google
This place is small but clean with a really nice aquarium. I never had or even heard of bo ne before, but my girlfriend introduced me to it and I'm hooked. It's so delicious with the mayo and pate I think. I don't bother with the salad though. Food is fast and hot, service is pretty efficient. Their banh bao is pretty awesome too.

Yelp
I love the change over to the Traditional Dough Recipe. May be a tad less sweet. The Minced Pork tastes better to me as well. The bakery that does not stand still... The other anchoring item on the menu: the Banh Mi also has a lift with the addition of the very thin Stick Baguette. I ate one with buttered with Pate and Flossed Pork. Concentrated richness of protein- No veggies that day!

Yelp
They have tasty banh bao (pork buns) and a variety of Vietnamese specialty desserts. Got a mix of salted and normal egg buns - both are delicious, and have a piece of chinese sausage (lap xuong) in them. I also got tofu pudding and yogurt with fermented rice on top - sữa chua nếp cẩm, its something I havent had in forever since I came to the US. The service was very fast and if you pay by cash, its cheaper.

Yelp
I've been frequenting Thiem Hung Bakery for years and I absolutely love their Bánh Bao! They used to have a seating area for Bo Ne sizzling plates but after COVID, they're only operating as a to-go restaurant. My fave is their salty egg Bánh Bao and even though it's 25c extra, I think it's worth the splurge every time! Both versions of the baos will have a generous portion of mince pork, mushroom, skinny vermicelli noodles, and a dash of green onions. The bao texture is soft and bouncy, though a little too thick for my liking. I also love their salted egg cupcakes and flan cake. The savory cupcakes pair amazingly well with the salted eggs, cubed cheese, and pork floss. The flan is smooth and soft, with the perfect amount of bitterness from the cocoa sponge cake. You cannot go wrong with either of these! I tried their combination Bánh Mì once and was disappointed. The flavor was lackluster and portion was also small for $6. I was genuinely surprised how bad this was considering everything else is delicious. The waiting area can get a little too crowded with 4+ people standing. Service has been welcoming and tentative, even though sometimes they try a little too hard to up-sale.

Yelp
the shop itself is pretty mid (old looking + no seating areas) but the baos are AMAZING, especially for the price. i always go there for the baos. if you go there, order a bao :)

Yelp
Really like their soi, banh mi and yogurt. This place makes excellent VN snacks. Love it. Glad they are open. Friendly and helpful. Thank You.

Yelp
So I went here to get a sandwich for the first time for my son ... It's so disappointed ... look at this it' sad!! barely any ham so thin and small Smh never come back here again .

Yelp
I always come here for the salted egg banh bao and it never disappoints. I also ordered the banh mi and it wasn't my favorite. $6 and not as much meat.

Yelp
We are group of 7 ppl ordered vietnamese sandwiches. As a vietnamese, their vietnamese sandwiches are amazing!! Havnt tried other food yet but so far it was great.
google avatar

Tony T.

Yelp
It is a really good steak and the bread is so good. You will need to order more bread because one is not enough.

Buckle D.

Yelp
I had bánh bao and nước mía today. The bánh bao was big, lots of meat and great flavor, not too salty. The dough could be better, flaky and sticky, not chewy. I saw they had sandwiches and salty eggs pound cake but I didn't try it. I gave a 5 for the nước mía. $7 buy two get one free!

Yelp
The best bo ne/Vietnamese steak and egg. The beef is so tender and it just melts in your mouth. Their pate and butter also goes great with the bread. Portions are really good. You definitely will be filled up. Bo ne is one of those cuisines that you have to take your time to eat in order to savor every taste. This place is a hidden gem. Located in a small plaza. The inside isn't too big so there can be a wait when it's crowded. Always be careful when you're eating bo ne because it comes out on a sizzling hot plate. You can practically see the steam coming out of it. It's always exciting because it smells so good and it's best to eat while it's sizzling. This place has become my favorite place to get bo ne in town.
google avatar

Yelp
This place deserves way more hype than the Popeye's chicken sandwich. There are plenty of parking spots. The service was fast and friendly. They expanded over the years so it's spacious and clean inside. They're known for bo ne (vietnamese steaks) and steam buns. They have 3 beef options. Basically, you get more beef for bo ne dac biet, more egg for bo trum men and regular size for bo ne. The bo ne came out sizzling hot with sunny side up egg and vietnamese meatball. They also came with fresh baguette, a side salad, pate and butter. Feeling thirsty? Try their rau ma. I highly recommend this place. Try it and you don't be disappointed!
google avatar

Tracy D.

Yelp
Easy to find, plenty of parking and spacious inside with lots of seating. I got the regular Bo Ne (5/5) - the meat is flavorful, but the bread could use some more toasting. Rau ma (5/5) Over all, bomb azz Bo Be place. I will definitely be coming back here often.

Yelp
My favorite banh mi place, i dont go anywhere but here and have been living in Houston for 15 years, this is the only place I go for Vietnamese sandwich. I recommend the combination sandwich, it's pork and vegetables, have some pate in it. Love ut

Yelp
Bad service. Be aware! Always check what they charge you! Roach in my drink. Overcharge with special bun when I got regular one.

Yelp
Translation of the Menu: - Steak and egg with extra meat - Steak with two eggs - Standard steak and egg - Steamed dumpling pastry with pork and salted egg/ or with chicken - Fried dumpling pastry with pork and salted egg/ or with chicken - The rest are drinks - I got the BO NE, the standard steak and egg. It also comes with a small pork meatball. They ask you beforehand how well you want your steak to be done. The entree does come out on a sizzling plate so it does cook a little more. The sauce is on the sweet side. The bread was perfectly crunchy and paired nicely with the butter and pate. There was also a side salad that comes out first. It was lettuce, jalapeno, and white onions. They're most known for their BANH BAO. People came in and bought it by the boxes. 4 in a box for $12. I had it for breakfast the next morning and it was pretty good. The soft white bread was slightly sweet and there were pieces of radish in the pork filling that gave it a crunch.

Yelp
I came here for the banh bao. I enjoy the filling. It's very simple and the bao is fluffy. The ca phe sua da is excellent.

Yelp
We go here all the time for the bo be (sizzling steak and eggs) and it never disappoints! Orders come with baguette, pate, and French butter. And a side salad. Put it all together for a delicious meal! Their banh baos are also delicious! For 2.50 each! They have a chicken egg and salted duck egg and both are delicious!

Yelp
A very solid 4.5 stars!! My lash lady recommended this place to me as one that she ventures to frequently just for their bo ne aka Vietnamese steak and eggs. The bf wanted BBQ and I didn't want something that heavy - so this was the compromise! Cubed steak seasoned perfectly with onions caramelized onto a sizzling platter with a sunny side up egg! It's served with fresh warm baguettes - also perfectly crispy on the outside, warm and tender on the inside. It comes with lettuce and mayo/pate and it is delicious! This place is known for their bo ne aka steak and eggs and I think they only (literally) have less than 10 items on the menu. They have this and a beef special - whatever that is! They also serve banh baos aka Vietnamese hum baos or white buns filled with seasoned ground pork, Chinese sausage and a hard boil egg! My grandma use to make this and it was a day's work to make the dough, make the filling, stuff the buns and then steam them! Oh how I miss them and this place makes them exactly like she did. Even the bf enjoyed them and he's a bit picky. The pork was just seasoned well and so juicy with its wood ear mushrooms, jicama, green onions, etc. I ordered coconut juice but they do not speak English at all and gave us some other drink with coconut milk, beans and jello. Pretty delicious nonetheless but I couldn't tell you what it was or how to order it again. We even ordered the banh baos to-go! They mistakenly thought I ordered them fried - my Vietnamese and pointing skills must be horrible :) So I ended up getting the fried ones and the normal ones to-go. They freeze up well and you can steam them when you want to eat them, if you plan on keeping them long term. Or else they stay in the fridge for a little while and you can reheat them in the microwave. Watch out for the egg though, it might explode in the microwave! Overall, minus the language barrier and miscommunication - the food was fantastic. Don't expect much in terms of decor - it is a hole in the all with delicious food. People kept walking in ordering boxes of their banh baos to-go and he knew we wanted the steak and eggs. That's how you know they're good! They specialize in two things and they do it well!

Yelp
This place was recommended by a friend. I will never trust anything that comes out of his mouth again. The service was a bit slow and the food took a while to come out. The place stays busy surprsingly. HOT TEA- never had I ordered hot tea and they brought it out in a plastic container cup. I'm used to the metal tea pot that they usually bring out. Its 55 degree out and I wanted something to warm my hand and belly. Unfortunately the tea was barely warm. BREAD - decent. Not as hot or crunchy like I wanted. The bread inside is not super super soft. May be a couple days old. The bread came out the same time as the salad and so by the time the bo ne arrived the bread was cold. SALAD- sad. Why does a salad come with jalp? Should've change it to cucumber instead. I didnt know which sauce to choose for the salad since there were two on the table. Apparently 1 is for the salad and the other was for the meat. BUTTER/PATE - the serving size was little. My container was not filled to the top. 90-10 ratio butter to pate. It's like they give you a tiny dab of pate. I was very sad as I like to have even amount on my bread.. BO NE- good serving size. The meat was soft and theres plenty of sauce to dip your bread! The meatball is good as well. While everything was good I feel I can get better for less the price.$14 for bo ne and the whole experience was very mediocre. I will not be returning.

Yelp
I came here because of a recommendation. Unfortunately, I am the banana of my family and Vietnamese isn't my strong language. It's actually impossible for me to understand and speak, so here we go. I wanted bo ne, which are steak and eggs. If I had known what the menu said, I could've gotten steak and 2 eggs. I also couldve requested pate because there was more butter. I wish there were an English speaker there because I couldn't really order or enjoy myself. The food was okay and the bread was light and flakey. The salad was pre-refrigerated, onion smell was strong. The meatball was good but mine seemed to be a little underdone. This wouldn't be my first option for steak and eggs.

Yelp
We only came for the Bo Ne! This isn't the original location but we heard through the grapevine that this place was better. I personally haven't tried the original location but I thought I'd give this place a try! We were surprised at their menu options. Literally it's the Bo Ne items and their Bun Bao. They also sell Vietnamese coffee and other various drinks. They were stingy on the coffee, they only filled my cup halfway and the rest was ice! Our table ordered half Bo Ne and Bo Dac Biet. When our order came out, they literally all looked the same. Our waitress said that one had more meat but we didn't see a difference. The plates came with French bread, salad and French butter and pate. It's meant to be eaten together or as a sandwich. The sizzling beef came out on a hot plate and was flavorful! The fried egg was cooked perfectly. However the meatball I was indifferent about. For a first timer, I'd give this place 4 stars! I'd definitely want to compare this with other Bo Ne locations.

Cathy D.

Yelp
Half my family got food poisoning from eating the sandwiches. The employee struggled to get our order correct. They also sell trademarked items that they have place their bakery logo on it.
google avatar

Jennifer V.

Yelp
Their Banh Baos are so delicious! They have plenty of meat in their filling while the bao itself is light and fluffy. Because they're not skimpy with the portion, the baos are pretty pricey at $2.50 which is more than what I'm used to paying but they are definitely worth it. They are great fresh! I have to try their bo ne sometime!
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
Tried the bo ne! So good! Got the bo ne dac biet which just includes 3 extra cubes of steak. Meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful. Also came with 1 egg and xiu mai (viet meatballs), bread, salad, butter, and patè. Xiu mai was average. Very small portion of patè. The meat was game changer. It made this meal.
google avatar

Kristine N.

Yelp
*chanting while banging a fork and knife on the table* STEAK AND EGGS!!! STEAK AND EGGS!! Hands down my favorite "Bo Ne" place in Houston. Their food deserves more hype than it gets, since not a lot of people know about it. There's a generous amount of food in every order, and the plates come out sizzling hot. Each comes with a plate of ice cold salad to help balance out the heat, fresh french baguettes, and of course, vietnamese butter and pâté. Whut. Don't forget about their fresh made drinks: rau ma (pennyworth), and nuoc mia (sugar cane). Salted duck egg steamed pork buns (banh bao) - Get them. Pass them out to your friends and family like Oprah (You get a banh bao, and youuuu get a banh bao!) Each box comes with four. You'll thank me later.
google avatar

Rita H.

Yelp
The best bo ne in Bellaire area! Must try! My to go spot when I'm craving bo ne. I like how they have the steak sauce on the side so we can use more to dip with baguette. They also sell banh bao which are very good!
google avatar

Thy T.

Yelp
We were craving Vietnamese steak and eggs with bread so found this place thanks to yelp. The store is a little further away from the other restaurants on Bellaire but still worth it. I love how simple the menu is which only has like 5 items on it. Well, not sure about the exact number but you get my point. This is a hole-in-the-wall kind of restaurant with bars on windows. We came on a weekend for lunch and it was packed in this tiny shop. I had the bo ne which is beef cubes with eggs along with bread. The meat was tender and the combination of bread + meat was perfect. I also had their green drink (not sure what's the name). I saw other people drinking it and asked our waiter for the same thing. That drink was good! They don't have the best customer service but like most Viet places, I don't expect that. Come check out this place if you are in the area!
google avatar

Michelle H.

Yelp
This hole-in-the-wall has the best Bo Ne we've had so far in Houston (and we tried a total of 4 places, 3 in the same weekend)! Seating here can be somewhat limited/sparse since it is a tiny restaurant. They have about 3 main entrees, 2 appetizers, and 4 drinks on their menu. Their Bo Ne comes with a loaf of bread, butter/pate spread, side salad, one meatball, and steak & egg on a hot skillet. The egg was still runny (just how I like it) and the meat used was so tender. Portion-wise, it was a little small for $12. Other places give you more bread, an extra egg, or add sausage/hot dogs, but Thiem Hung makes up for the additional items just with taste. Their pate was good (not too much of a liver taste), bread was crispy on the outside soft on the inside, meat was tender and juicy, egg wasn't overcooked. I would say this is my favorite Bo Ne joint so far. I can eat this everyday.
google avatar

Sandy V.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I wanted something new and wanted to try something on this side of town when we came across Thiem Hung on Yelp. There is a language barrier for those who do not speak Vietnamese (me) because they only speak Vietnamese here. We got the BO NE, which means steak and egg but it also comes with a small pork meatball on a sizzling plate. Compared to Bo Ne on Beechnut, the steak is very saucy (sweeter side) and flavorful. There are no soy sauces on the table but you really don't need it! Their butter and pate were soft but the bread is a little on the crunchier side. It also comes with a small salad on the side and you can top it with your dressing of choice on the table. It seems like most people do come in for the BANH BAOS because a lot of people bought it in boxes while we were eating. Service is slow but what do you expect from an Asian establishment? Will we come back? Yes of course!
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
Very quick service and hot, delicious food. The bo me is sizzling hot, and the banquettes are nice and crispy. The also serve a nice side salad and patte/ mayo mix on the side. The menu is very limited, but the dishes they do have are very well executed. There is a $15 min to pay with card
google avatar

David N.

Yelp
Hole in the wall, in a good way. It's small, mainly Vietnamese speaking. Only place Bo-Ne in houston, seriously. It's $12.00 for sizzling place of goodness. Comes with all the fixings. 1. Light salad and vinegrette 2. A bread roll (butter and pate) 3. Sizzling plate of beef cubes, comes out perfect, flavored well, a good meatball, a sunny side up and a sunny side up done right egg. Very good every time I come here. Smalll family establishment, pretty friendly, service may be on slow side but "it's normal for bellaire". I used to goto another place for banh bao but I tried their here, it's more traditional and it's really good. Traditional and "Trung muoi" and both are worth the try. They have fried banh bao too, it's new to me, I am too full to try this week. P.s. They don't have iced tea, interesting. But they do have a water filter system, you can't miss it when u pay. So I'm glad to know I'm not water straight from tap. Good to know. They do have other very Vietnamese drinks but I haven't tried them so I cannot vouch for drinks.
google avatar

Gia C.

Yelp
This is my ideal place of hole in the wall mom and pop place. The menu is in Vietnamese and in a chalk board above the register. I don't know Viet so I just show yelp pictures of what I want to order, which is apparently number one from what the waitress told me. It's beef cube with a meatball and egg subside up (plus bread with butter and some kind of mystery pate). It's all good! Even when I leaned against the wall and baby roach ran past the side of my head. But it's one of the those places that taste so good I look past it. Plus, they take credit card which is rare for an Asian place in Bellair.
google avatar

Andy P.

Yelp
Went here for some Bò né which is Vietnamese version of breakfast steak and eggs. It turned out pretty decent bc the beef is on the cast iron skillet and well marinated. Would recommend trying this place out. It's the only item on the menu and some other appetizers.
google avatar

Vanessa N.

Yelp
Came here for lunch after hearing a lot about their bo ne. The price is about $12 now. The meat is really tender and flavorful. I ordered it medium rare, but it came out as medium/medium well. Still good. The juice/sauce it comes out in is what makes the dish. It also comes with an egg and a meatball looking thing. The bread is hot and fresh, good pate/butter but not the best I've ever had. The star of the dish is of course the beef. Not sure what cut it is, but the quality of the beef is great. Not a bad place to try out.
google avatar

Diana C.

Yelp
My family's been coming here for Vietnamese egg rolls in the past few years. Basically, whenever we have a large family function that requires some type of filler food, we go with the mass order of Vietnamese egg rolls. They go for 50 cents a pop which isn't exactly cheap, but for the convenience and the consistently good quality, I guess it's worth it. I'm giving it 3 stars because (1) I'm pretty sure there are other places out there that provide the same service as this place and will taste as good, (2) you have to speak Vietnamese to order here; I don't think the people running the place understand much English, and (3) they aren't exactly friendly people, even if we do speak Vietnamese to them. They didn't crack a smile once while we were there. If you are looking to place a mass order, I think you need to tell them a day in advance, and then you can go pick up. It looks like they also sell individual Vietnamese meals, but I don't know how good they are. For the above reasons though, I wouldn't care to try these meals out. :-)
google avatar

Michelle O.

Yelp
Yummy. Salted egg steamed meat bun was fresh and really good. The steak and egg dish with a meatball was really good too. The meat was cut into medium-sized pieces. The pate and butter was in one container. 1 French bread loaf per order. The restroom was clean. No paper towel at the time.
google avatar

Nguyen T.

Yelp
They used to have their special homemade butter and pate but somehow they change and use the canned pate (which is tasteless). I like how the meat is flavorful and strong comparing to other places like Bo Ne Houston, Pho Bo To & Bo Ne. The side salad is nothing but iceberg lettuce and jalapeños. They also have two bottles of sauce, one for salad and the other one for the steak. The baguette is freshly baked and crunchy. Minus 2 stars of the service. One time I had to wait for 30 mins for the Bo Ne. Btw: Banh bao trung muoi (salted egg bun) is my recent fav snack. Must try if you have a chance.
google avatar

Ngoc L.

Yelp
this is the OG banh mi right here. literally grown up eating banh mi from thiem hung. Their baguette are the crispiest, best if eaten right out of the oven! you MUST try their xiu mai and thit nuon banh mi! They've recently moved to a newer location which makes it more like a little resturant more than a just pick up your banh mi and go type of deal. Besides banh mi they have other noodles dishes! I haven't tried their other dishes, will be back to try!
google avatar

Weili W.

Yelp
This place was almost perfect and definitely a solid 4.5 stars. I actually found this place by "mistake". I was searching for a new banh mi sandwich place and this place showed up. This is actually no "bakery". They don't sell bread or cakes. The only "baked good" they offer is the bread that comes with their Bo ne, Vietnamese steak and eggs. Their offerings are few and straightforward. They have bo ne, which is Vietnamese steak and eggs, and buns. Both are delicious. I had bo ne all over Houston and while some places were good in the beginning, the quality all inevitably decreased over time. From what I saw a great majority of their customers are repeats. You come in, tell them how many people and they try to fit you however they can. This means you may end up sharing a table with strangers. I personally don't enjoy doing so but knowing ahead of time would've eased my discomfort a bit. Their food is worth it though. Because their menu is so simple and most customers are repeats, once you are seated you are essentially asked what you want and how many. Don't expect anyone to ask you things like "Have you been here before?" or "Would you like for me to explain our menu?". It's not that they are rude, it's just not how things work here. I didn't personally interact with any of the staff but I highly doubt they speak fluent English. So if you don't speak Vietnamese or aren't with someone who does, be prepared to use simple words and use hand gestures. Lastly, because of all the sizzling plates from the bo ne, the whole place can get real smoky and hot, especially during the hot months and when it's crowded. But again, the food is worth it.

Yelp
The sauce and egg is already good, but the steak from this place is phenomenal - it's so soft it melts in your mouth. There's a lot of Steak & Eggs in Chinatown, which I tried them all if not most of them because it's my favorite breakfast meal, Thiem Hung is the place to go!

Yelp
I came here for breakfast after a late night, and it just made my morning more awake! The flavors from the beef, banh mi (baguette), egg, and pork were so delicious together. The service is fast and very welcoming! This Vietnamese restaurant is a secret gem.

Yelp
Great place for true Vietnamese banh bao in Houston. I've tried so many places but this is the one that I stick with. Their baked banh bao is also very good. The dough for the baked one is a bit sweet but it's not too sweet. I prefer a little bit salty though.

Yelp
This place was skeptical to me at first, coming into the store and sitting down the restaurant had no A/C running. It was hot, however when the food came out it looked really amazing! I got the Bo ne and it was better than i thought! I would say this place is better than Bo Ne houston comparing meat wise. 4 stars because there was A/C running.

Yelp
The food was amazing I had the Bo Ne and the meat was tender and moist. Ordered a Bahn Bo to go and omg just great . Service was fast and the staff is friendly. Definitely a place to go again.

Yelp
3 stars because the bread was perfectly toasted and meat was tender. The owner was nice to us as well. Their bo ne was too sweet for me. The sauce was like caramel sweetness and it wasn't a pleasant taste. Their pate was grainy. I expect it to be smoother because isn't pate suppose to be smooth. Plus the flavor was over power by the spices that I don't taste the flavor of the pate. I don't like the way everything was brought out to us wrapping in plastic wrap and stacking on top of each other.

Yelp
Came here with a co-worker to try their infamous steak and egg platter. It turned out to be a great choice. The food came out sizzling and tasted great! The place is further outside of Chinatown in Alief near Hastings and Elsik. This place became popular through word of mouth because otherwise I don't see how anyone would have discovered this place with their isolated location. The place itself is very small and pretty much a hole in the wall. Most of the customers are Vietnamese and very few workers speak English. Their sandwiches are also delicious due to the fresh bread they use. It's

Yelp
Love the beef on their hot plate. My friend brought me here when i was visiting Houston and it tasted soooo good. The beef was extremely flavorful and tender. The bread roll the give you along with is just excellent. Would come back to visit when I'm in the area!
