Germantown Is Getting a New Sports Bar, Third and Home - Eater Nashville

"A new sports bar is slated to open in Germantown this spring. Third and Home will open on April 1 across the street from First Horizon Park, home of the Nashville Sounds. The sports bar is a collaboration between Sounds owner Frank Ward and Centerplate, First Horizon Park’s catering partner. The 7,000-square-foot space spans the top level of 919 Third Ave. N. and has a sprawling 1,500-square-foot patio from which patrons can view Sounds games. Its interior also boasts 28 65-inch televisions and three 260-inch screens, so sports fans can enjoy themselves at the bar, regardless of weather. The space’s sports-centric design is the brainchild of Ward’s sons, Chris and Tim Ward, and C.B. Ragland Co.’s Michael Hayes and Brandon Kuvara. Third and Home, which will be open year-round, will serve a range of regional and local brews and popular liquors and wines. It will also offer weekly promotions, to be announced in March, alongside a solidified food and drink menu. Ward, who announced the opening in a news release last week, said his aim with the project is to create “a unique destination that combines food and drink along with entertainment in the thriving Germantown neighborhood.” “The completion of Third and Home brings our vision of the ballpark and surrounding areas full circle,” Ward said in the release." - Audrey Carleton

We had a great time at Third and Home for Mother’s Day before the sounds game! The food was seriously impressive—especially the hot chicken and waffles, which had just the right kick and that crispy waffle goodness. The kids crushed their burgers and fries like they hadn’t eaten in days (because they probably hadn’t…unless you count cereal). Our server was awesome—super friendly, quick with refills, and made the whole experience even better. And yes, the beer was ice cold and hit the spot. The only thing keeping this from a perfect 5-star review? The bathrooms. Yikes. They were in rough shape—like, “let’s just hold it until we get home” level. If they clean that up, this place would be an absolute home run. Still totally worth it for the food, vibes, and views!

Grabbed an IPA and wings before going to the Sounds game Saturday. Surprised that the Wings were cooked perfectly moist and the Buffalo 🦬 sauce was flavorful. Got more sauce on the side and had celery and ranch too. Not enough celery is my only negative observation. There are plenty of sports on the TVs. Great view of the baseball field at First Horizon Park from the outside area of Third and Home.

Google
Great location right next to the Nashville sound stadium and you can even sit on the balcony and overlook the field. We really enjoyed the food, but we're kind of surprised how empty it was for a weekday game night. The weight staff were great and will definitely be back!

Google
I always appreciate this place because of the opportunity to watch a baseball game and enjoy non ballpark food. I had the stuffed bread sticks. Highly recommend.

Google
Came for an event with Offline for happy hour on a Thursday. First off, you can’t beat this venue. The fact it overlooks third base at the Sounds stadium is super cool. Second, the staff were all very friendly and nice, which was awesome. Third, the drinks and food were all top notch. The Lime Drive (spiked cherry limeade) and the pepperoni breadsticks were our faves and are happy hour specials if you’re ever in at that time! Highly recommend whether or not a game is playing!

Google
The drinks aren't that expensive here, and the views are great. The pizza sticks are really good. The fried pickles are decent, but the hot chicken ranch is delicious! The potato skins are decent. The hot chicken tenders aren't very hot.

If you don’t want to pay to go into a Sounds game, this is a great spot to watch from. Just get there early and grab a spot to watch but expect to be in the sun for a while. Beers were priced like being in the stadium, not sure if that is the same for non game days.

Google
Great atmosphere! My sister and I enjoyed the hospitality and AMAZING food. The bill of fare: pizza rolls, fish tacos and tater tots, hot chicken N waffles, holiday spice donuts, and wings with Old Bay Seasoning Rub....shoo mercy it was good!!

Yelp
Atmosphere, food and drinks were all great. Being able to look into the stadium is awesome. They DO NOT have the MLB pass for games. We walked in to watch some of the opening day games and were so disappointed. Myself and my coworker were taken back that we couldn't watch the game we wanted to see.

Yelp
Third and Home is a great location overlooking the baseball stadium. Their chicken is delicious: Crispy, Hot, Lovely seasoning. The star of the show was the Nashville hot chicken flat bread. Y'all gotta try it....crispy crust with lovely chicken, pickles, cheese and drizzle. It paired really well with beer. I would come back without hesitation

Yelp
We love watching Nashville Sounds baseball games from Third & Home. They have a balcony that overlooks the ballpark. There's a nice sized dining room and side balcony for dining. Order at the bar, food is delivered to your table like many Nashville options.

Yelp
Third and Home is JUST the place for you if you're a baseball fan. Amazing drinks, service and food. They have a really beautiful, spacious patio that faces the Sounds stadium and you can watch to your hearts content while chowing down on some breadsticks or mini corn dogs. Paid parking in front. Take the escalator and grab a seat.

Yelp
This was my first baseball game here at third and home and let me tell you it was amazing. The food: 10/10 Customer service: 20/10 Fun: 10/10 Everything about this place is awesome

Yelp
The food was not hit when it arrived for me or my daughters. The place wasn't really packed but it took a while for the food to come out and it wasn't hot..go figure! The Lime Drive was okay as well. Way too much lime but I should've expected it! I'm not sure how the servers operate here but they don't write stuff down. He forgot to bring out the fries for my daughter, but guess what they were piping hot! The lemon pepper wings were the worst I have ever had! It's a sports bar so expect lots of tv screens, but they have a full baseball game going on with a team called the Nashville Sounders. Great location and they have the beers you may want but they need a new chef or redesign the menu.

Yelp
Highlights 1) FUN vibe 2) Great way to catch some of the Nashville Sound games 3) Cool rooftop I live in a city where our baseball stadium is a little removed from downtown, so a baseball stadium in the middle of a bustling area was cool to see! We wandered into this bar after dinner not really knowing what it was. We went upstairs to the rooftop (which had a bunch of lounge couches) and WOW were we surprised. The rooftop is right next to the left outfield of the Nashville Sound baseball stadium. There is a big bar with seats right up next to the outfield. You honestly feel like you have tickets to the game. So cool! These seats were full when we arrived, but our group of 4 was able to snag seating at some of the couches. We did drinks and some French fries and enjoyed being in the atmosphere of the game. Food was average and service was slow-ish but I expect that's pretty normal during busy game times. We really enjoyed our time here and have recommended it to several people!

Yelp
Came in today and our server is Joshua and he's very good! He helped us decide what to order and I was not disappointed. The prime rib sandwich is the bomb! There's several choices to choose from for your sides. The restaurant overlooks the third base of the First Horizon Field which will be my next . Yep I'm going to a baseball game! Try this play out it's pretty good.

Yelp
I would give them 5 stars, except for one thing. Good was pretty solid, service was very solid. Problem was, they had two bartenders, when they could have used three. Also, the bar was clearly designed, by someone who was never in the food service industry. The bartenders would need something from the kitchen and have to take a super long walk, back to the kitchen. Again, overall pretty solid, but the place could be more "efficient" for its staff.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is amazing for both a midday laptop lunch sessions or for views of the Nashville Sounds games. I was on laptop work lunch mission and I was starving. The bartender highly recommended the stuffed garlic bread sticks, said they were a staff favorite. You get three for $12 and these carbs pillows are huge and very shareable! Buttery, garlicky and loaded with tons of cheese and pepperoni! It comes with a side of marinara which was also delicious. I'm big dude and I could only take down two of these breadsticks. I also got a Yazoo Pilsner and enjoyed some needed quiet work time. The bar was pretty empty, but it was also 3pm on a Tuesday. I need to come back here before the Nashville Sounds season ends to watch a game from their outdoor patio. Play ball!
google avatar

Joanna B.

Yelp
This is a great place to go for baseball games. You can get great balcony seats to watch the game without paying admission for the game. Great vibes inside and out.
google avatar

Lana B.

Yelp
Food was below average, even for a sports bar, drinks were good, atmosphere was average, service was not great. I think if you have a game you want to watch and cant get in anywhere Third and Home is not a bad option. I would not go here for dinner on a regular day. We split the nachos, mini corn dogs, and buffalo chicken dip. I got the nashville hot flatbread and was not impressed. Out server did not care to be there, very unenthusiastic. Location is great, if theres a sounds game going on you're in luck! I just with the food was better.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a fantastic sports bar with an astoundingly good view of the Sounds games.... I honestly have no idea how you don't have to pay for a ticket to the Sounds games as well when you eat/drink here! We ordered the Hot Chicken Waffles and the Hot Chicken Flatbread. The chicken on both wasn't too spicy and had some incredibly good breading. The Hot Chicken and waffles was two liege waffles with sugar pearls in them, two hot tenders on top, and spicy honey melding it all perfectly together. The pickles were also sweet and tasty as an additional treat. Overall, this place has incredible views for the sounds and tons of TV's for other sports. The food was impressive for a sports bar, and we plan on coming back!

Kristin W.

Yelp
We have been here a few times and every time it has so such potential, but utterly fails. Service is spotty, beers are hit or miss. Try ordering buckets with a group of 4. It's skunky beer roulette. They close at 10 no matter what day of the week. So don't come in for a Saturday evening college football game, because service will be non existent for the last hour, because they want to close. No toilet paper in the restrooms and "house made" potato chips that taste like white people bad mexican tortilla chips.

Yelp
This was the perfect night for patio eating before we went to a Sounds game. The indoor seating is incredibly spacious and the patio/balcony was super fun. We were on the shaded side overlooking the outfield entrance to the field. If you are outside you have to order at the outdoor bar which wasn't bad. We usually will have a drink while we wait but tonight we opted for just sodas instead. The bartender was pretty quick with getting to us as the bar was pretty full at 5:30 on a Friday night before a game. We ordered the pork belly tacos (current special) and the brisket. Both of us got the sweet potato fries and that may be the best decision we've made in a long time. Both of our mains were "meh" to be honest. I should've gone with the veggie burger instead but I love pork belly tacos when on the menu. These probably shouldn't be back on theirs again. They weren't cooked well and had far too much "salad" to cover up the poor quality pork belly. My boyfriend's brisket was just okay-and that's his fault for ordering it in a BBQ joint heavy town when this isn't one of them. But what all this lacked the sweet potato fries rocked the review up to four stars for. I'd just order these next time and be oh so happy with my life choices. Seriously, the best I've ever had. Hands down. The boyfriend loved them too and we're still talking about them 6 days later. All in all their environment and people are great, some food was a hit others was a total miss. We'll be back for sure...

Yelp
Great location that we found out was opening the day prior to our visit on the tube. We were greeted by the manager upon arrival with masks for lunch around 1145. We opted for a two seater high top outside facing the Sounds Stadium. We enjoyed some libations and then it started to rain so we moved inside to eat. My wife got the farmers salad and I got the turkey club sandwich. Both items we very tasty and fresh. We also hash the buffalo dip with corn chips. The facility had hand sanitizer (Pickers) spray bottles on the tables and virtual menus. It going to get busy once everything goes back to normal someday, so check it out if your willing to venture out for a bite. We look forward to going back someday when it's back to normal. Great views of the field very good food.

Yelp
Wife and friends have been here multiple times for lunch - but thinking we may have just experienced the last time. My rating is 2.5 but rounding up because the staff has always been super friendly and you can't beat the location over Sounds Stadium inside and outside. So why did the other 2.5 stars disappear? Squarely based on the food. We have eaten lunch here 4 times and food is ok - but last two times it caused let's say "gastrointestinal distress" in 3 of our party. Food we ordered was basic - chili one time and the green salad with chicken yesterday. The salad my wife and I split and we both were hurting 30 minutes later. The drinking, atmosphere and service are great ... maybe just beware if eating normal meals there.
google avatar

Victor S.

Yelp
Had a very hardy lunch here today. We ordered the chili, turkey club sandwich and the mahi-mahi tacos. Food was tasty. Chili was delish just needs to be served hotter. Service was fine. Waitress did not refill drink once, c'mon guys.

Yelp
Such a great place to watch a game on the TVs or on the field! Third and Home has a beautiful patio that overlooks the Nashville Sounds baseball field. They have a wrap around patio with views of TVs or views of the field. It's beautiful to have a view of the field, even if no one is playing. The inside is great too! They have tons of TVs all around so it's super easy to watch the game you want to see. It's a sport bar but it's very clean and has a really great ambiance. I loved all the food and drinks I ordered! I was bummed they didn't have Octoberfest on tap but they had an excellent bottled one! We ordered the Buffalo wings, nachos, stuffed breadsticks, and Nashville hot chicken. I stuck to the wings and breadsticks, both were delicious. Highly recommend when in Germantown!
google avatar

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Food was delicious and came out quickly for a large party. We had an amazing section on the patio for a Nashville Sounds game. Mace was unbelievable and took exceptional care of us!! Drinks were consistent and great! My only complaint was working with management to secure a reservation, very hard to get in contact with and a less than stellar experience. I honestly was nervous up to the moment of arrival that our reservation was actually booked. However, they overall held up to their end of the bargain so 5 stars.
google avatar

Grant E.

Yelp
Third and home is one of the coolest views in all of Germantown looking into the sounds stadium. The bar is loaded with huge TVs and the drinks are reasonably priced for being basically downtown. However, I'm always a little thrown off as every time I've been here the place is always completely empty.
google avatar

Mike K.

Yelp
Great service and ample seating with lots of TVs. The bartender was also super sweet and didn't charge me for the iced tea last trip. Hence why we returned today.. Our biggest complaint today is our sweet potato fries (SPF) order. Because they technically don't have a SPF appetizer, we asked if they could make an exception amd prepare the fry side order as an app and also have it "loaded" like the Nachos. Our waitress says sure no prob, it'll just be a few bucks more. She brings it out and it was loaded with yummies but really wasn't all that big. Tasty but not big. We ask for the bill and see that we have been charged $11 for this "special order". So essentially $ 1.25 per each fry of our 8 sweet potato fries on the plate. That's a bit steep. We will def be back. Hold the special fry order, but we will be back.

Yelp
Went for the titans game last night And it was very busy. Sat at the bar and bartenders were wonderful. Very attentive to everyone and keeping things moving in a timely manner despite being busy. I ordered the chicken tender salad which was packed with chicken and the honey mustard had a great flavor. The salad was giant and probably one of the best chicken salads that I've had. The homemade potato chips were also really good- very crunchy and seasoned well. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
What a fun day. Enjoyed the Sounds game from restaurant balcony. Good food, great service and fun atmosphere. Good beer selection.
google avatar

Alex K.

Yelp
Good food, good drinks, amazing views!!! Even with no baseball season I recommend this restaurant/bar! Burger was cooked to perfection along with the onion rings. Kids were super happy with mini corn dogs and tater tots. The club sandwich was enough for 2 people. I tested one of the signature drinks the "John Daly". It had lemonade and a sweet tea vodka. Very smooth! Come grab an appetizer or a drink and support them until the Covid goes away.

Alex R.

Yelp
Great view of the game with an awesome selection of food and drinks! Service is fantastic!
google avatar

Amy D.

Yelp
We visited this spot this past week to watch the Nashville SC game. Let me start by saying the views and general vibe of this place are fantastic- bar overlooks downtown, side of the building overlooks the sounds stadium, TVs everywhere- the environment is unbeatable. This place, for me, is like an elevated sports bar. Great beer selection, 2-4-1 happy hour, and plenty of sports to watch, but surprisingly delicious food- the wings were to die for as were the loaded tots! Everything was also very reasonably priced, which is a plus. Staff was overall, extremely friendly and accommodating. I docked them a star because of Covid protocol- everyone has a mask on, but the host sat us In a weird spot and we felt a little too close to others- and when we asked to move she wasn't really sure how to respond. Other than that strange interaction, this place is a home run (pun intended!)
google avatar

Matt B.

Yelp
We have been there 3 times since the Nashville Sounds season started. The first time the food was very average (BBQ Chix flatbread) with high prices on drinks (drinks cost same as food). The next time, we brought another couple to the game and all of our food was cold by the time it got to us, which could be due to the lack of help they had on the floor. Took 15+ minutes for a server to come to our table. Went last night one more time. The curly fries were once again Cold and the club sandwich had no taste to it whatsoever. I can recommend this place as an alternative to watching the Sounds games from the stadium; however, I cannot recommend the restaurant on its own merit.
google avatar

Marci P.

Yelp
Food and service was good. We went on a Sunday around noon and there were only 2 other people there. We definitely can't wait to come back when there is a game on tv or when baseball starts again! Large outdoor area with heaters and plenty of seating inside. The potato skins and sweet potato fries are a must try!
google avatar

Cole B.

Yelp
Decided to give this a try. We had to pay $25 to park at a nearby parking lot. We got there around 9:15-9:30 pm and was informed that the kitchen was closed, which others had food, so I'm not sure what the issue was. Seemed like a nice place, just make sure they're serving food before you waste money to park.
google avatar

Yelp
Okay. This place wins. Great views. Fantabulous patio. Great food. And great service (thanks Manny & Logan). Opening night and everything was perfect. Got a table on the patio. Lots of great people watching. Bar service was easy. Menu scan option. Starters were great. Drinks were perfectly heavy. Pizza and burger was delicious. This is a must go patio atmosphere friends.

Yelp
On the late afternoon Of Jan 1 my friend and I were making our way towards Van Elrods - the hip German beer hall that was bustling with activity. Despite the vastness of the establishment and the many open seats , a rather curt hostess rejected our offer for entry and instead offered us a spot on the 90 minute wait list. We gave our information and dejected made our way toward the stadium that sat behind the bar. The brilliant Nashville sun shined towards the west as we meandered down the road and stumbled upon an oasis known as "third and home" Unlike the rebuke from the van Elrods staff the hostess at third and home made you feel as their name suggests that you are "home". The modern sports bar sits on the second floor of an office building. A long and clean bar resides on the far side of the second floor and is surrounded by large glass windows that allow the patrons to look out and take in Nashville's finest double A baseball. An outdoor patio provides even more direct access for fans of the boys of summer. The inside of the bar has plenty of tables, a few large booths, and a mix of high and low rise spots. Our server was gracious and the restaurant well was well staffed. Large and modern tVs broadcasted the days most popular sporting events. Both appetizers were tasty. I recommend the tater tots. Hot, fresh, and loaded is the way to go. Shrimp cocktail would have made you assume there was freshwater just beyond the horizon of the Beautiful baseball diamond. Beer was ice cold and refills prompt. Friendly service. Couldn't be a better place to stop before a base ball game or to watch a game , in my humble opinion. I'm glad we got the snub at Van Elrods and discovered 3rd and home!

Yelp
Talk about a much anticipated opening after quarantine!!! Got a little sneak peek today and had to post about it!! It will he open year around with the BEST VIEWS!! The 7,000 square foot establishment located at 919 3rd Ave N has a one-of-a-kind view of First Horizon Park and the Nashville skyline. Third and Home is located on the top floor of the building immediately east of First Horizon Park. Patrons will have the option to view the ballpark from the nearly 1,500 square feet of patio space. We will absolutely be here as much as allowed lol!! Pass the flatbread and beer please!

Yelp
This isn't a baseball bar... so we were told! I was so excited to check out especially since I'm a huge baseball fan so I might be overthinking my experience. My friend and I arrived and were immediately asked if we wanted to sit at the bar. We asked to sit at a table and were seated right next to another group. After a couple minutes of not having anyone stop by we decided to move to the bar. After another wait we were asked for our drink order and then asked to view a baseball game. We were offered a couple of TV options but then told they were all being watched and they couldn't turn on the game even though they had the same game on multiple TVs. We went ahead and ordered a drink. We commented that it's interesting that they are a baseball bar but didn't have a single baseball game showing. The bartender said they aren't a baseball bar they are just next to a baseball stadium. They then ended up changing one of the TVs behind the bar while we were having our drink to a soccer game because "they are a watch party location". I want to try the food but their attitude and lack of accommodation makes me think twice!

Aysha D.

Yelp
We came in. I was trying to take my nana to lunch. She was at the front waiting to be seated. Only two customers in the empty restaurant, so it wasn't busy at all. There were two waitresses. Nobody greeted my nana in the time that I was trying to park. When my and my aunt and I came in and we waited at the door, they still didn't invite us in. The sign said wait to be seated. We found it to be very rude and unfriendly. We turned around and they smiled as we left. Will never return here.

Monica M.

Yelp
My first visit to Nashville and this sports bar happens to be within walking distance to our Airbnb so we checked it out for Sunday night football. The BEST Strawberry Almond salad with grilled chicken I've ever had!! I'm not sure what the strawberries are marinated in but wow amazing!! surprising for a sports bar. Also the bartender, Eli, was awesome.
google avatar

McKenzie A.

Yelp
Eli 10/10 best margarita in town! Wow, loved it, amazing. This was amazing and Elise and I had a strong connection about TV and everyone was just great it was amazing the tequila shots got me where I needed to be.

Diane D.

Yelp
Large interior bar and restaurant and nice outdoor bar and seating area. Huge TVs. Part of outside bar area patio overlooks the baseball field of the local minor league team, which is unique. Prices are high. Food and drinks took too way too long to come. Further, server was not good. Worst part is that booths were filled that were right next to each other. Not socially distanced, mask rules for customers were not enforced. We will not go back
google avatar

Jamey R.

Yelp
Great customer service. Staff is welcoming & nice. Great beer selection. Just an overall solid sports bar. Huge space. Indoor/outdoor seating with the bar running in both sides. Overlooking the baseball field is a cool touch. Haven't had any food yet but the menu looks great. Highly recommend for groups and/or to watch any sporting event.

Yelp
Awesome food and environment! Great spot when the weather's nice with awesome views of the city and baseball field. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Awesome place. Everyone is always so friendly. I have never gotten a bad meal. Can't wait to watch a Sounds game from here.

Joe M.

Yelp
Top 3 Nashville sports bar! Incredible views and even better food & drinks!

Chad S.

Yelp
Great food and the perfect spot to relax and watch some games! The view is as good as it gets!

Nicole C.

Yelp
I was really excited to try this place but was incredibly disappointed by my experience. When I first walked in I was sat at a table directly next to another occupied table even though there were empty tables more spaced out. Then no one came to greet us in the 10+ mins we were sitting there. We asked it it was ok to move to the bar and were told that was fine. There we waited another 10+ mins to be helped. At that point the staffs attitude was such a turn off we drank our one drink and left..

Meredith Y.

Yelp
Such a great atmosphere for a sports bar! Wonderful food and staff. We ordered the mini corn dogs and the maple mustard sauce that accompanied them was outstanding!

Kent K.

Yelp
Great AV equipment. Excellent service but Very mediocre food. I suggest walking around the corner to eat. Very cool place

Wesley D.

Yelp
Awesome view, great food! Can't wait to watch a baseball game here!

Jonathan B.

Yelp
People are going to love Third and Home! Food was amazing. Highly recommend the wings. The setup is incredible. You've got a balcony that wraps around the entire bar and gives you an amazing view of First Horizon Park. Definitely going to be the spot to grab some drinks and watch Nashville Sounds games.
