Google
Tricky to rate. 1/5 for staff and 8/10 foe something a little different that is gluten free and yummy. TIP: The coffee cups are incorrectly designed (seal is off) which means by default they will leak if the lid is not placed at the exact correct position (in line with vertical seal on cup)...so ask for two cups to collect drips - lesson learnt the hard way. FOOD: Great selection of varied mochi delights. They don't seem to be as fresh as those at Nisshodo in Hawaii - however 10/10 for the incredibly broad array of flavours (see pics). Great array of some jams/spreads, fresh juices, great array of hot drinks (also see pics) and some cute Japanese merchandise. STAFF: They had one staff member cooking (in pic), he seemed competent enough - the other was on his phone, sitting on the chair back from the counter - despite a number of people in the shop asking if he could serve them. He didn't want to serve anyone - had extremely poor work ethic and unprofessional attitude that makes me wonder how he still has a job. ACCESSIBILITY and STORE; and wheelchair (all one level) accessible store with ample street parking outside and seconds from the tram/bus stop. OVERALL: I couldn't bring myself to support a store with such an ill mannered staff member and the mochi's weren't a big enough' draw card' to have me come back.

Stopped into Third Culture Bakery to try their butter mochi donuts. They have two other locations (Walnut Creek and Berkeley). Mochi donuts are $3.25 USD, mochi muffins are $4.25-4.45 USD. They also offer drinks and mochi waffles. - 6x Mochi donuts ($3.25 USD) - tried the mango passionfruit, ube coconut, jasmine milk tea, Thai tea, yuzu lemon and raspberry lychee. Texture is okay but not enough of a chewy, springy bounce. Flavours are light; best of the bunch was the raspberry lychee. Have had better mochi donuts. 3.5 stars.

Google
Deserves a four for innovative, fun, gluten free options. My friend tried these savory kimchi waffle. Her verdict is that it’s cool and interesting but probably not something she would just wake up and be like I have to have that kimchi waffle now.

I am here too often, I get too many strawberry matcha lattes and I have tried all of their mochi donut flavors. I just had their guava matcha latte and I realized that I have never written a review for this place, so I just want to say I love this place and I will try anything on their menu. I have had their roasted matcha, which is like if matcha was like dark chocolate, so rich and intense. My favorite mochi donuts are the guava, strawberry, banana, and ube, but honestly you could give me any of them and I would devour it. I also love their original mochi muffin (which I got for free the other day through having my phone number registered for star points). I want to try their banana pudding sometime, but they also have so many seasonal offerings, the orange 5 spice muffin being my favorite for awhile. If you haven't been here, you're missing out on a gem in inner sunset.

Google
The mochi muffins here are amazing! Chewy on the inside, slightly crispy on the outside, and perfectly sweet. The mochi donuts are great too, but the topping/frosting on some of them is a hard shell - I’d prefer if it was softer. Still delicious though :) The store is nice and clean, there are a few stools to sit on inside and a couple tables outside.

The mochi donuts are much better than those in Seattle! I hope they will ship it soon besides mochi muffins

Google
what an inspirational pink spot with exceptional service. 3.5 dollars for a UMCGD (ube-mochi-coconut-glaced-donut), America's favorite donut! Can you believe that? what would you say to your 6 year old self? 😉 I'd say go get that UMCGD, G! I'll be back 🦇

This bakery's atmosphere is wonderful. The aroma of freshly baked goodies fills the air, making it comfortable and welcome. Everything is excellent, including the croissants and danishes. It's essential to sample the bread pudding at this bakery. It has a perfect balance of sweetness and is rich and flavorful. Enjoy it

Yelp
Writing this review as I'm sipping on my Third Culture matcha at home in FL. We got their matcha in a work cafe package for APIHM and it has been the perfect start to my mornings! They catered some of their iconic mochi muffins & donuts for our work conference while in SF and they were the best midday treat to break up the work day! They had both mochi donuts and muffins with options to satisfy everyone! If you aren't too familiar with mochi, it is a chewy texture but not in an off-putting way, in a delicious way ;) I visited their website because I was curious how much it would be to restock on my matcha and saw that they actually offer nationwide shipping for their mochi muffins, as well! BRB, might have to go order some for a midweek pick-me-up.

Yelp
Ordered Third Culture for a snack break during a work conference. As someone living in the Bay Area, I knew ahead of time that this would make the perfect and most unique treat for the conference, especially with people coming from all over the country who may not have accessibility to as much mochi based products. Ordering for catering was very easy and straightforward. Filled out all the information on a digital form that was submitted and easily made payment. Coordinated a drop off time. The afternoon of the snack break, the donuts and muffins we ordered were all ready to go, packed up neatly in boxes and ready for hungry conference attendees. I've had Third Culture a number of times and can attest to their deliciously unique flavors and amazing texture. Asking around, everyone else really appeared to love them to as they sampled a number of flavors and smiled while eating.

Yelp
Where do I start?! Third Culture checks all of the boxes! Food/drink: Excellent! Packed with flavors. I was honestly not expecting too much but was blown away at how flavorful my matcha and mochi was. Service: Friendly staff! They take the time to have conversation with their customers. Very knowledgeable when it comes to matcha as the gentleman at the cash register was giving me tips on how to make the perfect matcha at home when he saw me looking at the merchandise they have at the store. Ambiance: They have a white and pink themed vibe going on. I love the pink SF artworks they have on the wall. Will add Third Culture on my list whenever I tour family/friends around the City.

Yelp
TLDR: 5 stars for excellent service, creative flavors, and a new typa gluten free baked (not fried!!) treat :P Longer version: The donuts at Third Culture Bakery are more dense and filling vs the common bubble-flower-ish shaped mochi donuts you've seen all over social media. Make no mistake, TCB isn't trying to be that! Their website calls them "butter mochi donuts", and now that I'm reading that - the texture/density totally tracks. Don't come here expecting the other type, and don't compare apples & oranges! From their website in case you do like me and don't bother checking for explanation: "We are proud that our mochi donuts are made using from Koda Farms, organic French-style butter, and local dairy milk. Our glazes always either use fresh fruits or ingredients that we've carefully sourced. Our black sesame donut glaze, for example, starts with our own 72-hour process of stone-milling Japanese black sesame seeds into a smooth paste." We walked in while waiting for sandwiches from their neighbor (down the block) The Yellow Submarine and were greeted by a kind man behind the counter (maybe one of the owners *shrug*). He walked us through muffins vs donuts (& all the flavors) vs (something else behind the case, maybe banana bread loaf?). We asked for his recommendation and landed on the pandan, thai tea, and guava cheese cake. The donuts are bouncy, fresh, not greasy at all (repeat: because they're baked, not fried!), and filling without being heavy. My kinda treat! I LOVED the guava cheesecake, meanwhile my boyfriend's fave was the pandan. The thai tea had great tea flavor, but maybe needed just a hint more sweetness (which is something I don't say often); it was my second favorite out of the three. There is seating in the bakery, but we took our donuts to go to enjoy after our sandwiches. I can definitely see this being a "third place" for anyone looking for a spot to pull up a table & chair to read a book or send some emails... mellow vibes with people coming & going, folks walking down the street - love a nice mix of quiet and people watching when I'm sitting in a cafe. If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd stop in often and we'll definitely be back again when grabbing treats on Irving Street.

Yelp
I'm not a huge fan of third culture bakery's mochi items but I am a fan of their drinks! Today, I tried the roasted matcha with strawberry and lychee and thought it was delightful This is my first time having roasted matcha. It definitely reminds me of hojicha drinks. The strawberry lychee puree was delightful but I wish there was a little more added to the drink. I would like to try their other drink variations with the strawberry lychee puree

Arielle H.

Yelp
I'm so hesitant to order matcha/hojicha because I'm so picky but wow, epically delicious. I got it with soy milk. And of course a box of goodies!

Serena L.

Yelp
Lychee strawberry matcha - 4/5, nice lychee and strawberry flavor! Would love to try their other drinks. Sesame / matcha mochi muffin - 4.5/5, light sesame / matcha flavor with an amazingly good chew. The muffins are thicker, so the mouth feel is nicer than the donuts in my opinion. Also not too sweet, so it's a perfect treat. Vietnamese coffee / thai tea mochi donut - 4/5, the flavors are again a little on the light side, but quite sweet due to the frosting. The chew is still great though. Banana mochi bread pudding - 4/5, like banana mochi bread topped with caramel. A little on the sweeter side again, but still delicious! Can be quite filling, so it's great for sharing.

Jasmine T.

Yelp
These donuts were delicious! I'd never tried mochi before, so I didn't know what to expect. The texture was kinda chewy, but not gelatinous. There were several different flavored donuts to choose from and there were also muffins, which turned out to be my fav. They were pretty big and had lots of flavor. Definitely a fun treat to help up stay alert after lunch!

Andrew P.

Yelp
Got to enjoy some yummy snacks from here when I was in the area for a work conference. Big shout out to my colleague who ordered from here! I have had my fair share of mochi donuts on the east coast, but never had I ever been exposed to mochi MUFFINS! They had the little sesame seeds on them and looked so good! I didn't have one right away, as I decided to start with what I was familiar with and compare -- the donuts. The spread was colorful and inviting, and I had to grab a knife and cut some so I could try some pretty outstanding sounding flavors... mango passion fruit and guava cheesecake were calling my name. Both of those were phenomenal and the texture was perfect. I grabbed a regular mochi muffin to have later... and when I did, YES! I could tell right away that they used coconut sugar, and it was just a refreshing dessert. I am not sure if I can find any mochi muffins around my way, but best believe I'll be keeping an eye out.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of the mochi waffles at Third Culture Bakery! FOOD // I've been here several times since this location's grand opening back in February, and the delicious mochi waffles keep me coming back. The waffle format allows for maximum crispiness in the exterior, with the inside remaining that wonderful soft & chewy mochi texture. Mochi waffle variations I've tried & loved: + Pumpkin cream cheese mochi waffle (Fall 2023 seasonal) - with maple whipped cream, whipped cream cheese, maple syrup, cinnamon crumble, sea salt + Creme brûlée mochi waffle with passionfruit curd (during grand opening) + Strawberry matcha mochi waffle (for National Waffle Day) + Mochi waffle de guayaba (summer seasonal) - with housemade guava jam, fresh whipped cream, cinnamon mochi waffle + Savory kimchi & cheese mochi waffle (the only mochi waffle flavor I've seen consistently since Feb) - with cheddar cheese, green onion, vegan kimchi handmade by Sinto Gourmet in SF, dried seaweed I usually pass on the mochi muffins and donuts, unless there's a really unique or seasonal flavor. The texture and sugary donut glaze don't appeal to me as much as the mochi waffle. DRINKS // I usually go for the roasted matcha/hojicha options if I'm getting a drink. Nice roasted tea flavor. SERVICE & AMBIANCE // Aside from the busy grand opening day, there is usually little to no line here. Service is fast. The shop is in a convenient location facing Irving St. It does get a bit loud whenever the N MUNI train roars by. The big windows let in lots of nice light. There is counter seating with ~6 stool chairs inside, and usually a few tables/seats outdoors too, if you'd like to enjoy your treats immediately (recommended for the mochi waffles, but they're still good later too.)

Melodie M.

Yelp
The mochi muffins from Third Culture may possibly have changed my life. I recently ate some in San Francisco. The original mochi muffin, brown on the outside with seeds is perhaps one of the best things I have ever placed in my mouth. The crusty outside, the omg middle which is chewy (but not in a bad way!) and soft, an incredible texture. Not super sweet, just light and delicate. Perfection. I also had a mochi muffin that was purple inside, and that was also delicious. Please note, these are available to ship nationally, thankfully!

Yelp
genuinely sad to see that this location closed (according to Yelp). although parking was strictly street parking / neighborhood parking, i really enjoyed the interior decorations. it felt homie and comfortable - a spot i could definitely see myself working at! i got the strawberry lychee hojicha latte (or strawberry lychee roasted matcha latte) with oat milk. the strawberry and hojicha was a great combination but you couldn't really taste the lychee. i don't know if it was very the strawberry / hojicha both have a strong flavor, or there's minimal lychee flavor added. i really did like that it wasn't too sweet and you can taste the strong flavor of the hojicha. i've tried their mochi muffins before as well and have thoroughly enjoyed everything! would definitely visit another location of theirs!

Mikhala F.

Yelp
Friends, you NEED their mochi donut. When I saw that Third Culture Bakery had catered our work conference for a treat break with muffins and mochi donuts that are gluten-free, I was SO excited! I am obsessed with the texture of chewiness of mochi donuts, and I hadn't had one quite this style yet. And wow, their flavors and textures are spot on! This catering order served as the perfect afternoon pick-me-up for our group. It was a great conversation starter for folks from around the country who may not have had mochi donuts like this before. They were a hit for our group, and would highly recommend trying one!

Belinda C.

Yelp
I've heard so much about Third Culture and since i was in the area, i decided to give them a try. I got their mochi donut and their mochi cupcakes. Their donuts were too sweet in my opinion. I got the guava cheesecake butter mochi donut , and it had way too much frosting on it. My friend got the raspberry donut and felt the same. the frosting was a little overpowering. As for the cupcakes, i got he black sesame and matcha one along with their regular. The cupcakes were a little dense and I was questioning the freshness of the black sesame one. I was disappointed in these too, as the only one that i liked was the original. The matcha one i found to be too sweet and the black sesame one didn't have enough black sesame flavor to it. All had a good amount of mochi chewiness. The service here can get a little improvement. The cashier had no enthusiasm in them. They seemed like they didn't want to be bothered with the transaction or even questions. Sorry, I will not return here again.

Bee E.

Yelp
Stopped into Third Culture Bakery to try their butter mochi donuts. They're next door to The Red Tail. They also have two other locations (Walnut Creek and Berkeley). Mochi donuts are $3.25 USD while mochi muffins range from $4.25 to $4.45 USD. Have had better mochi donuts back home. 3.5 stars.

Yelp
This is my second time to Third Culture, first time to this location, but it wasn't as great as I remembered. Such an Instagrammable place that does so well with social media and marketing but the visit today was underwhelming. One positive note though to start off - our cashier was very kind. She was so accommodating too, asking things like what slice of bread pudding I wanted, if we needed a bag, if I would be eating my bread pudding now or later, etc. Really thoughtful service! On to the meh...my guava matcha latte looked nothing like the big advertisement out front. It looked like mine had way too much soy milk, and then it certainly tasted that way too. I could taste guava at least but the matcha flavor was just not there. The black sesame mochi muffin was good initially but had a bit of a burnt aftertaste which I don't remember last time. The mochi donuts in ube and dark chocolate were fine. I ate my banana mochi muffin bread pudding later after heating it up as the cashier instructed. It was good but the edges were too crispy and tasted burnt also so I'd recommend getting a center slice. Overall did not have a great experience today but I know I've liked it from their Berkeley location before. Maybe it was an off day or just bad luck on my part! Maybe I will return in the future if they have something seasonal that I want.

Yelp
Lunar New Year this dragon year was an absolute blast! Thought I was supposed to go for the specials before the festivities end. This time around, I enjoyed all things black sesame, except the jar on the chilling off-the-shelf display (should've bought that one first, but oh well). Well, I had no other choice than to pay with my credit card since I bought both the black sesame latte and the black sesame waffle with bananas and black sesame ice cream on top. That type of exclusive dessert was bomb! Might have one again if I see them as a regular. For the black sesame latte, I should've asked the staff to make it less sweetened or unsweetened. Anyways, can't argue with good service! These third culture kids will always make every customer's day brighter than ever! Still like the pink interior, btw.

Susan B.

Yelp
I've been curious about this waffle and it did not disappoint. Warm staff and quick line.

Miss J.

Yelp
(+) very warm customer service with help on recommendations! I was looking for a particular drink someone posted on help, but it was already out of rotation. He recommended a toasted matcha... I'm not a big matcha fan, but it was surprisingly more like sesame flavored, not too sweet and pleasant. (+) clean and simple inside, not really for seating but great for on-the-go or to GGP (+++++) dog friendly (+) had the kimchi mochi waffle - had a different idea in my head about the cheese, but it was overall tasty and satisfying

Angie T.

Yelp
8.5/10 - Solid matcha spot in SF! So sad to see that this location is closing on June 2 :( 8/10 - Regular matcha latte, I normally drink my matcha unsweetened and I can tell that this matcha isn't nearly as high quality as their ceremonial. With honey, it's decent though. 9/10 - Ceremonial matcha latte - I love this. The matcha is full-bodied and almost meaty. It's a bit pricy, coming it at $7.8 though. 8/10 - Matcha Lychee Latte - Pretty good, almost milk shake like in consistency. I don't really taste the lychee but it's a nice sweet treat 8/10 - Mochi waffle - I had one of their seasonal specials and I really enjoyed the texture of the waffle.

Areeta W.

Yelp
Yummy Asian fusion bakery & cafe! They have a large assortment of baked goods like mochi donuts and waffles along with matcha drinks & coffee. I got a hot Caramel Matcha Latte (4/5 - creamy and sweet) and a Guava Cheesecake Butter Mochi Donut (4/5). I definitely want to come back to try their famous mochi muffins! Their decor is super cute and pink! They do have limited seating and outlets if you're trying to study/work here though.

Lauren L.

Yelp
Super good mochi muffins! Loved that they were not too sweet, and still had enough flavor. Especially the matcha one, it was perfectly balanced and had great matcha flavor. The black sesame was also delicious, earthy, but not too sweet. Really enjoyed the pastries. We also got the strawberry lychee matcha lattes which were unique! Not my favorite since i found the lychee a bit overpowering for the other flavors. It was still yummy and i'd come back to try other drinks and pastries!

Alexis M.

Yelp
I visited Third Culture in Berkeley years ago and was delighted to discover they have a location in San Francisco. I have fond memories of their mochi muffins and donuts, especially the ube flavor. This time, I decided to try their matcha drinks, opting for the strawberry lychee roasted matcha latte (rated 4/5) and the Salted maple cold brew latte (rated 3.5/5). The staff were incredibly friendly and offered great recommendations. The store has a charming decor, and I thoroughly enjoyed my drinks and pastries. I highly recommend giving them a visit!

Linda L.

Yelp
Came to try their lunar new year special, the black sesame mochi waffle and it was so goood! Nice chew, not too sweet, and a nice bit of savoriness to top it off. I wish it was a permanent menu item. I recommend to eat it as soon as you get it cause the black sesame whipped cream won't taste as fresh after a while. I also tried their roasted matcha latte at the Berkeley location and I remembered really liking it as well, 10/10 would recommend!

Alicia L.

Yelp
Was super happy to find an Asian mochi muffin bakery! I absolutely loved the original mochi muffin - I'd definitely come back for this. I also ate the mochi banana bread pudding (which they kindly heated up) which was soooo delicious I'm still thinking about this one!! I would say the other flavors I got were a little underwhelming. The insides didn't seem fully cooked and the black sesame flavor wasn't as 'nutty' as I like it but that's personal preference. Matcha flavor was just okay too, this one was too sweet for me. Would still come back for the top two :)

Paul L.

Yelp
I've heard good things about Third Culture and was excited to try it. My girlfriend and I came on a Saturday afternoon and the wait wasn't too long. Server was friendly and the inside was nicely decorated. Here's what we ordered: Salted Maple Cold Brew Latte (4/5) - YUM. Generally cold brews tend to have a really strong coffee forward flavor but this one was nicely balanced with some hints of maple. The little maple syrup, flaked sea salt, and mix of coffee was such a harmonious blend. My girlfriend usually isn't a fan of cold brews but actually enjoyed this too! Would recommend. Strawberry Lychee Roasted Matcha Latte (4/5) - This was a super refreshing strawberry and matcha mix. It really reminded me of strawberry matcha boba drink. Unfortunately I didn't taste too much lychee in the drink but it was still a good drink overall. Ube Mochi Muffin (5/5) - The crispy edges of the muffin reminded me a lot of the corner pieces of a butter mochi. I do love myself the corner pieces! The ube flavor was prevalent throughout the muffin. I would recommend this to all my ube lovers. Thai Tea Butter Mochi Donut (4/5) - As a fan of butter mochi, I was really excited to try this donut. I definitely wasn't disappointed as it has the same chewy/bouncy bite to it. The Thai tea flavor was subtle. I actually kinda wish I had a stronger hint of Thai tea as I love the flavor of Thai tea. Overall, this did not disappoint and would recommend this to all my coffee/mochi lovers out there.

Anh D.

Yelp
This review is a little long overdue but i finally got a chance to check this cafe out while i was visiting SF. I just say the vibe and the ambiance here is so cute and hip but also inviting. I love that the bar is an open concept and you can see your drink being made. The menu is simple enough to where it doesn't feel overwhelming but there's still a lot of variety and options for everyone. I had to try the lychee matcha latte and it honestly did not disappoint. The line remained long the entire time we were there but our food and drinks came out in a timely manner and everyone was so friendly here.

Sarah C.

Yelp
tried the seasonal black sesame specials -- soy milk latte and butter mochi donut. I loved the latte and thought it the black sesame flavor was nutty enough, slightly on the sweet end and requires constant stirring but overall pretty decent. the donut was unique compared to a regular light donut as it is more chewy, and the topping had subtle black sesame flavor. would be cool if the donut also incorporated some black sesame taste! overall, service is great as usual, and you should definitely try to catch Third Culture when they have their sales!

Annie W.

Yelp
Specifically stopped at Third Culture Bakery because it's Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month and I want to support all the Asian businesses in SF (or as many as possible!). Besides, they were offering a 20% discount for checking in on Yelp and since I've been wanting to try this place anyway, why not do it now? Stepped into this very pink shop, looked around at the cute displays, looked at the donuts, looked at the menu, waited and waited, and *still* nobody to help me. Had to say "hello!!" a couple of times before anyone realized I was there; maybe a bell that sounded at the door would help them? Anyhow, I ordered two mochi donuts; one mango passion fruit and one lemon yuzu. Both were delicious! Really nice texture... tender but chewy like mochi; the icing on each was so yummy! I especially liked the lemon yuzu (I like tangy sweet things). I also ordered a strawberry lychee matcha latte with soy milk and that was delicious also. At first sip it seemed a bit sweeter than I prefer, but after the ice melted some, it was great! The two donuts and the latte set me back a little under $10 without tip and with the 20% discount, so it can get somewhat pricey, but what isn't nowadays? I'll certainly return when I'm in the neighborhood!

Meg B.

Yelp
They don't make mochi donuts in Nebraska like Third Culture! These were absolutely amazing, unlike anything I've had in the past, I went for the original mochi muffin, and it was a flavor journey unlike one I'd been on before. I wish I could have these all the time in the midwest. Thank your Third Culture for this amazing experience.

Jonathan W.

Yelp
The Salted Maple Cold Brew Latte is my new favorite coffee drink in the neighborhood! 10/10 recommend that puppy. It is delicious. Regarding the mochi doughnuts, I prefer the ones with the fruity icings.

Mindy L.

Yelp
Passed this place on my way somewhere and had to stop in to get a treat. I've heard a lot about their mochi donuts and tried the ube flavor, which had a cool chewy bite to it and wasn't overly sweet. It was good and I would come back to try other things.

Jennifer T.

Yelp
There are more and more places with mochi baked goods, but Third Culture has delicious, unique flavors in three forms: donuts, muffins, and waffles. These are the items I took home to share, and were universally enjoyed: kimchi cheddar waffle (messy but so tasty), guava cheesecake donut (tbh I love guava anything), yuzu lemon donut, raspberry lychee donut, and Vietnamese coffee donut. They were still delicious the next day. The Inner Sunset location is perfect. They have quirky merch and a bunch of fun items for sale. There's also a case of cold beverages in addition to the drinks you can order at the counter.

Shreha J.

Yelp
OMGGGGGGGGG i love this place. First of all it's so cute! Very aesthetically pleasing and fun All their mochi donut flavors are delicious, They had a banana pudding mochi cake that was super decadent and delicious when I went. The stars of the show for me are their matcha drinks; the hojicha one being my favorite. It's very lightly sweet (PERFECT FOR ME) and i find it difficult to find a drink like this anywhere else, since they are often either not strong enough or too sweet for me. The strawberry lychee cold brew sounded amazing but i was not a huge fan of the acidic aftertaste from the lychee even though I loved the flavor: but I can see how others would love this drink! Definitely going back to try more sweets & drinks!

Sophia D.

Yelp
I'm so happy that a third culture bakery opened closer to me! The store is so cute, everything inside is pink - even the napkins and cutlery! The person serving us at the counter was also super friendly and inviting. We got the banana bread pudding mochi and a guava cheesecake donut. I love how the banana bread pudding wasn't too sweet! It was definitely a great surprise because at first glance, it looked way too sweet for me but my fiancé really wanted to try it. They warmed it up for us and it was so delicious. It was gooey and chewy and the banana flavor was really strong. The guava cheesecake donut was also really delicious. We loved how tropical it tasted. Overall, super cute spot! It's a little bit small on the inside but there's also a table outside. We'll definitely be back to try their drinks and other pastries!

Carmen C.

Yelp
Came by during the afternoon weekend, 2 customers ahead. Store looked cute, nice and clean. Staff was friendly. Ordered 3 mochi muffins (2 Original & 1 Ube) Red velvet mochi waffle Strawberry lychee roasted matcha latte Caramel roasted matcha latte Waffle tasted good but the cream on top was a bit too salty for me. Muffins tasted good, best to eat them when fresh. Loved the Caramel roasted matcha latte I preferred this one more than the Strawberry lychee roasted matcha latte.

Yelp
Soft Opening until 2/11! We came around 11am to try out the new location. What I tried: - Strawberry Lychee Matcha Latte $5.45 - honestly a quality matcha latte! It's definitely not super sweet and you can definitely taste the strawberry but not so much any lychee flavor - Guava Cheesecake donut $3.25 - WOW amazing texture that is super bouncy and has just the right amount of glaze to not be overwhelming. Definitely taste guava but not the cheesecake LOL - Original Mochi muffin $4.45 - a subtle sweet sesame flavor with a nice outer crust and a chewy inside!! A must get in my opinion :) Overall service was great, all staff was super friendly! The interior is cute and they sell various mochi merchandise like tote bags, mochiko flour and matcha

Yelp
A great spot to grab a unique cup of matcha tea. They have several staple offerings and some seasonal, such as matcha with guava. They also offer pastries, coffees and other goodies. This is the best matcha spot in the Bay !

Yelp
I love the idea behind an Asian-owned bakery with Asian flavors and ingredients, but unfortunately the execution is just okay. I tried a couple of their mochi donuts was a bit disappointed by the texture and lack of flavor. I've definitely had better mochi donuts elsewhere, but I've heard good things about their drinks!

Yelp
Third Culture Bakery has been one of the stops I've been most excited for to open on Irving! They're known for introducing Mochi muffins to the market and they continue to keep the hype up with their high quality baked goods! I love how they have a simple menu for both drinks and desserts, yet so many unique flavors, such as Vietnamese Coffee Mochi donuts and Jasmine Milk Tea! I also appreciate how they have a treat for both tea and coffee lovers alike with their unique takes on such classics. For drinks, I got the Strawberry Lychee Matcha Latte with oat milk! I am a huge lychee flavored anything fan so I was definitely excited to try this! I felt like the drink overall was great for a matcha drink, but a little disappointed since I couldn't really taste the lychee, but rather a subtle hint of strawberry instead. It's still an overall great drink but don't expect strong fruity notes with this beverage. For desserts, I got the Original Mochi Muffin and the Guava Cheesecake Mochi Donut. Both were so good I can't pick a favorite! I liked that the muffin wasn't too sweet and you could taste the nutty flavors from the sesame. The top of the muffin was baked well to give a nice crunch to it, while the center of the muffin was soft and chewy from the Mochi. The donut was also extremely soft and chewy from the Mochi in the center, and the guava frosting made it fruity without overpowering it. The cheesecake was focused more in the center of the donut and contributed to the perfect balance of fruity and decadent! The service here was also great! The staff member was so friendly and open to all sorts of recommendations, and even helped me pick which to drink to get! The interior of the place was clean with a wall of cute Knick knacks to browse through as you wait for your drinks. Unfortunately there's no seating inside, but I imagine this place being more of a quick stop and go kind of establishment. Overall, Third Culture Bakery is such an amazing addition to the Irving neighborhood! I highly recommend this place if you like a unique fusion to your favorite desserts!!

Yelp
Been waiting for this to open for a while now, and it did not disappoint! Came around 11:15am during their soft opening and there was no line, although a few people did come in behind us. The employees were all super helpful in suggesting their top sellers (original mochi muffin, mango passionfruit butter mochi donut, and ube coconut butter mochi donut) I got: - The original mochi muffin - delicious! The edge was just the right amount of crispy and the inside had a really nice mochi texture. I loved the sesame on top as well. A classic if you're looking for something simple to try! - Ube coconut butter mochi donut - I had to try this one since I am a fan of both ube and coconut. Neither flavor was overpowering and the flavors worked really well together! The consistency was also really good and it is a solid option I'll definitely be back for soon. - Roasted matcha latte - very strong roasted flavor! Option of whole, soy, or oat milk. It was definitely more roasted than I was expecting and I thought it could use a bit more matcha flavor, but I really enjoyed it nonetheless! I also tried my friend's guava cheesecake butter mochi donut - amazingly light and subtle guava flavor, also not too sweet which I liked. Would definitely get it again! Overall, a solid new addition to the inner sunset for both drinks and mochi donuts/muffins and I will definitely be back to try some of their other items soon!-

Yelp
Stopped by today to check out their world famous mochi muffin, and I have to say it's overhyped. We tried chocolate donut, Vietnamese coffee donut, chocolate brownie, red velvet and the original mochi muffins. The only thing that tasted good to me was the original muffin. Unfortunately their mochi donuts were too dense, not my fav. And the price tag is a bit hefty too. These donuts and muffins set me back almost $20, which could be a nice satisfying meal somewhere on Irving St! The decor is nice and certainly makes nice Instagram pics, but I guess I won't be rushing back any time soon.

Yelp
Came here at 11am on Sunday. I got the pumpkin roasted matcha latte iced with oat milk. They have a student discount so my drink came out to $5. The drinks are around $5-$6 and oat milk is .65cents extra. Soy milk and whole milk are included. Loved the creative drink options and waffle flavors. I really enjoyed my roasted matcha. Didn't really taste any pumpkin though. You order at the counter and then they call your name when your drink is ready. It was pretty quick and there's some seats around the place to hangout. But not really a study area so if you're looking for a coffee shop to study in, this wouldn't be the place.

Yelp
When I heard that another Third Culture Bakery location was opening in SF, I was so excited!! I had been to the location in Berkeley before and it was so delicious, and the pastries in the SF location are just as amazing! I got the Original Mochi muffin and LOVED it! The edges have just the right amount of crisp and the inside had the perfect mochi texture. It's not too sweet and comes with sesame on the top, and honestly the taste is just AMAZING overall. I tried my friend's Ube butter mochi donut too and it was also really good!! Not too much coconut flavor and the donut was also chewy! I hope to go back to try their drinks because it seems like the drinks are also really good too. 10/10 would recommend if you're a fan of mochi desserts!

Yelp
I got the matcha latte. I thought the pricing was pretty fair, and the matcha was fair. I able to taste the strawberry matcha, roasted matcha, and guava matcha. The matcha latte is exactly what you expect. Slightly bitter matcha taste with a latte, and it's just excellent. No BS, it's just what it is. The roasted matcha was new to me, and tasted much different than what I expected. It's hard to pin-point exactly what it is. It comes out brown, so bonus points for being interesting. The strawberry matcha is like the matcha latte is someone squished a strawberry and added it to my matcha latte. The guava matcha is more guava than matcha, so for the people that can't handle the intensity of matcha, maybe this is for you! The drinks came out quickly and employees were nice and speedy. The ambiance is pink on the inside, and is nice probably for a few photos and maybe to sit with 1 person and chat for a short while, but don't expect to study here or hang out as a group for 3+ people.

Yelp
I've been waiting for this place to open for almost a year now and finally got a chance to try it during their soft opening! They have a shop in the mission and in Berkeley and are known for their mochi muffins and matcha drinks. Their menu includes a variety of flavors of mochi muffins, mochi donuts, matcha drinks, teas, and coffee. I love how many options there are and there really is a flavor for every type of person. The service was excellent as the workers gave us recommendations on flavors to try and they were very quick to make our drinks. I ended up getting a jasmine tea mochi donut, ube mochi muffin, and strawberry lychee matcha latte. For the baked goods, I really liked that they were not too sweet. They had the right amount of sugar in them and I was actually able to taste the jasmine in the mochi donut. Both of the pastries were chewy and pretty large. Of the pastries, I think the mochi muffin was my favorite. The top of the muffin is crunchy while the bottom was soft and chewy. When you take a bite that includes both the top and the bottom parts, the texture is something that I've never really experienced before and it tastes great! The drink was also solid. I could really taste the matcha, the strawberries were fresh, and the drink didn't taste like straight sugar. The only thing is I couldn't really taste the lychee, but it was still a great drink. Overall, I'm really happy that this shop has finally opened in the Sunset. I will absolutely be back to try the rest of their flavors and I'd highly recommend giving this place a visit if you're in the area. They live up to the hype!

Yelp
One of my go to specialty dessert places in the Bay Area. Been to the OG Berkeley location several times so it's nice to see more locations optioning up. ((Would love to see one open in the South Bay!) known for all things mochi and the flavors are super unique and Asian inspired. They have some special favorite flavors that are always there and some flavors that rotate here and there. Always make sure to check in via Yelp : they normally have some sort of small discount off of your order (it's 10% off now). You're paying for the quality here--One pastry is around $3.50 here, but it's soo good! As for their donuts (they keep the same mochi base and basically change the icing/flavor to make it what it is). Everything is super strong in flavor. I haven't tried one that it's hard to tell what the flavor is bc it's weak. If you're in the mood for some unique desserts you can't get anywhere else, here's your place. I know they also partner with local coffeeshops and sell their items there. The best mochi donuts in the bay.

Yelp
The source of donuts I've had at a coffee shop, at a new location I really like, with more flavors than the coffee shop offers! My favorite mochi donut is still the dark chocolate, but the fam loved the blueberry and the mango. The guy who took my order and rang me up is standout friendly. We'll be back!

Yelp
A cute mochi donut/muffin shop with pink decors - the inside is fairly small with limited seating so more convenient to grab and go rather than sit/eat inside. I ordered: -Strawberry Lychee Cold Brew Latte: the strawberry and lychee purée was sweet and yummy on its own but upon mixing with the cold brew, the strawberry and lychee flavor got lost. It added a nice sweetness to the cold brew with a hint of strawberry but I wished the flavor stayed more. -Matcha Mochi Muffin: I liked the texture of the mochi muffin as it was dense but bouncy. The taste was interesting though because it was a lot more sweeter than I expected but still had the bitterness of the matcha. Somehow sweet and bitter at the same time. I like the concept of mochi muffin though so I want to try different flavors next time. -Guava Cheesecake Donut: definitely my favorite out of everything I ordered! The texture was similar to the muffin - bouncy and chewy, and dense compared other mochi donuts. I really liked the flavor of the guava (not much cheesecake flavor was there) as it wasn't too overwhelmingly sweet, and the glaze was the right amount. My friend and I came right before they closed so the employees were probably very tired but they got my friends order wrong :( she ordered a matcha drink but got cold brew instead which she still enjoyed but sad she didn't get what she ordered.
