Where to Drink Margs and Give Back in Detroit | Eater

"This casual hangout, a longtime favorite of Cass Corridor residents and Wayne State University students alike, was reborn last year after the Detroit Optimist Society took it over. The calendar is stacked with plenty of entertainment options and fun things to do, including trivia, karaoke, live music, and Latin night, as well as shuffleboard and pool. While Detroit Optimist Society is known for elevated craft cocktail bars like Corktown cocktail bar Sugar House and downtown dining destination Wright and Co., the vibe at Third Street is chill and casual, as seen with the frozen Astral coconut margarita with Astral Blanco, lime, orange, pineapple, and coconut water." - Vox Creative

Customer service was amazing. Drink selection is decent. The ONLY problem I have is the food selection. Their attached restaurant is vegan based. I got the brunch potatoes and they just weren’t my vibe, especially for $7. I wouldn’t come back only because I can’t get drunk and eat vegan food. Everything else was good though

Nice patio, service was weird. A bartender behind the bar and no servers walking around helping people.

Had a great date night here and play darts and shop pool. We play connect 4 our and mingled with a lot of new people had a couple of beers. It was a good Sunday afternoon. Most definitely will go back to friends.

So happy to see this place thriving again after reopening! Weeknights, weekends, day, night. I always have a good time here. Especially appreciate the dog friendly patio.

Great neighborhood bar! Bartender was attentive and atmosphere was holiday festive.

Google
This bar is fine but there are many better options. The music is insanely loud, even when there are no people dancing and everyone is just chatting. You have to scream to talk to each other. Additionally, the bartenders and not attentive and have inconsistent pricing.

This place was okay. I came in here a few weeks ago and the place seemed a little neglected. It was a Saturday evening, yet there was only a few people inside. Their service is friendly but very unattentive. They were all texting and just standing around. The floor was all tore up and it kind of had sort of an old warehouse rustic feel, which I honestly didn't care for. I get Detroit is an old gritty city and having a bar like this is hipster and trendy, but this was a little overboard. The floor was beat up and it borderline looked like they were remodeling. The outdoor space was nice. It seems like a good spot to chill when there is entertainment and the place is filled. But again, it was very unkempt. The palm trees were all brown and dying. Supposedly they had very good pies back in the day but now they quit serving them and that part of the bar is just abandoned. The slushy that I ordered was watery and sour. It didn't have the best flavor. It was nice and strong though. The only thing that saves this place is its location and atmosphere. Being right in midtown helps this place out a lot. Any big event going on in the area, which does occur often, will draw people to this bar. There are some dart boards and a skee-ball game as well, which is pretty cool. The place is also very spacious. Overall, this place feels neglected. The things that keep this place afloat are its location, friendly wait staff and the large indoor and outdoor space.

Super cool venue that I just discovered with a really awesome atmosphere and vibe. Good drink selection and would be awesome to do a small event at! Here’s how it looked when I went!

Yelp
This place is better than ever since the new owners opened it a few months ago. The patio out back is great -- usually a food truck there, plenty of room to hang, a few outdoor game things. Bartenders are great -- nice, funny and excellent service. Love the range of food trucks that come (all kinds, including vegan, regularly) and live music. If you came in the past and weren't impressed, come give the new version a try. As a middle-aged person who goes to Wayne, it's nice to have a place nearby that's not obnoxious, is fun but you can still have a conversation, we can play shuffle board or get fresh air and have great drinks.

Yelp
Great drinks, good service, good vibes, cute indoor and outdoor seating areas! Defiantly a college town bar, loved the outdoor seating. I got a daiquiri and their mango-peach frozen margarita, both were so insanely good! They also have an area where you can get bar food. If you're looking for a good bar to chill and chat with friends I'd recommend Third Street Bar!

Yelp
An okay, young college bar with karaoke and bouncers. The atmosphere was dead for a Wednesday night. The service was fine. The bartender friendly, but over all the place was just okay. Nothing stood out. Nothing said come back. However, nothing said leave now LOL May try this place again if we are in the area, but it's not a must visit.

Yelp
What is there not to love about Third Street Bar? I've been here several times over the years just to order food from Street Beet located in the back area of the bar. This bar is typically quite busy with neighborhood patrons. The bar is huge!!! They have plenty of space for seating, plus additional tables outside and a huge covered tent with a bar. I love the layout of the bar and the large TVs spaced out around the bar. We were watching the UofM Game and my boys were winning, which made my night ever better! lol We were all pretty hungry so we ordered a few Ranch Fries to split. Let's just say the fries were devoured!!!! lol This is a great spot and I can't wait to come back. On to the next one.....

Yelp
I have not been in-person since COVID, so my review is about my experience before these times. This was about as college bar as you could expect in Detroit. That's the vibe I got, but it was a notch above others I've seen. With plenty of space, lots of games, and decent drinks, we had a great time. It's not the place you go to talk quietly. If you're looking for that, go elsewhere. They're also connected to Street Beet, a spot my partner loves! We will be back once it's safe.

Yelp
We came to keep drinking. Mainly for dessert because of the Dangerously Delicious Pies is located inside the venue. So drinks and dessert it is. They had their Atwater Vanilla Java Porter was on special, so we ordered a round of those. Plus these would probably go great with the dessert pies we ordered. I like this venue,, the whole industrial feel of the place just seems very right. Plus I like the repurposed wooden wire cases for the tables. Good drinks, good food makes for a very good night. My friend was buying the drinks and dessert, so we did their special on Atwater java porters. The place is pretty good, I like the whole luchador masks the bartenders wear. There are games to play if you want to be doing something competitive when drinking. Usually I prefer to sit and conversate. Speaking of conversations, I don't know if it's just that night we went. But the sound system was rather painfully loud. I'm really not into shouting at my colleagues when we're just talking about something in particular. A proper audiophile couldn't hurt to check on the system.

Yelp
Let me just say. The food here is the best!!!!!!!! The sliders, the cat fish bites, the loaded fries (add shrimp and steak) OMG! It was a party in my mouth and only I was invited. The staff was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. We had a great time playing darts! And the drinks just kept on coming. My husband, sister, dad and I will definitely be back! We've found our new hangout spot. The fact that you can control the music through the juke box definitely put the cherry on the top of the cake for us!

Rachel S.

Yelp
Stopped in on a Saturday night after a comedy show, and let's just say the real comedy was behind the bar. They are so funny. Richie and Vanessa were so quick despite how busy they were. 10/10.

Yelp
Extremely friendly people, nice atmosphere, good music selection. I wish they had more heaters in the winter bc I'm still trying to social distance but I don't want to be cold. Other than that, my fav bar!

Yelp
What a fun dive bar! I came here with friends straight from a wedding. My first time in Detroit! I like this place. No frills, cheap drinks and a fun crowd. And I believe I remember seeing some arcade games here too. This place is cool because it doesn't try hard at all. It looks like someone's basement! Everyone here was having a great time. I'll be back next time I'm in town!
google avatar

Yelp
Covid-19 HOTSPOT! Was disappointed going there. They follow no safety precautions and very dismissive and arrogant about customers who do. The place is laid out nice but you can tell it's just about selling drinks rather than customer appreciation it customer safety. Won't be going back!

Yelp
I come to this bar a lot with my friends on the weekends, but after this weekend I'm not sure if we will be coming anymore. Because of Dally in the Alley, they closed their bathrooms, even to paying customers (???? Why?). There were porta-potties outside but they were legitimately overflowing with waste and could not safely be used. I told the bouncer, several members of security, and several bartenders about this, and all of them shrugged it off and basically said "tough luck". I'm attaching a graphic photo of the porta-potties to prove I'm not lying or being dramatic, it was actually that ridiculous. Needless to say, I stopped buying drinks there because I knew that if I had to pee it would be a legitimate safety concern. I know the bathrooms were just closed for this weekend, but due to the rude brushing off by all of the employees, I don't think my friends and I will come back ever again.

Yelp
This place is always my first choice to go drink. You don't have to deal with the "bro" crowd or pretentious hipsters here. The drink prices are great and the bartenders are always friendly and hilarious. They also have live music and karaoke once a week, it's great fun! Dangerously Delicious Pies also lives here. Omg, get a pie, do it. If you only eat one thing between now and the day you die, get their pie.

Yelp
It's got a cool enough atmosphere, I like these types of bars though. I like them when they are a little ramshackle and different. The decorating is pretty cool and rustic, and they seem to have a sense of humor. We were there eating some deliciousness from Dangerously Delicious Pies and they were playing the Puppy Bowl and the Kitten Bowl on Super Bowl Sunday. They have shuffle board and a few other games. It's just a laid back atmosphere. They have a juke box, which is something not enough places have anymore and it didn't seem like anyone care if you were dressed in pajamas or a suit. Just a cool little neighborhood hangout. One problem I did have though was that I asked for Vernors and he said they had it, but it wasn't Vernors. It was crappy bar ginger ale... but whatever.

Yelp
Had you asked me 5 years ago, I wouldn't have had favorable things to say here - mainly service based concerns. But since then, some great changes have been made that have improved Third Street in big ways. Pros: - they have their own parking lot. free lot parking in Midtown is a hot commodity these days. - DANGEROUSLY DELICIOUS PIES operates out of the back. If you don't know about DDP, you ought to learn, and soon. - Fireplace and wooden accents gives a cozy almost cabin-like feel - Electronic jukebox, so you can play any tunes that suits your mood - Plenty of seating, and long high top set ups that are perfect for being out with a group. - Decent selection of both beer and spirits - Prices aren't bad at all I don't know that I have any real cons, so to speak. I guess the main thing that keeps me from coming here all the time is that, while it's always a nice place to hang, there's nothing super special that grabs me and really pulls me here. While it's always a solid 2nd or 3rd stop of the evening, it never really jumps out to make itself the first. The number one thing that pulls me into a bar and gets me coming back is a welcoming bartender. The bartenders here are friendly, and they're efficient, but I never really get that "hey, how's it going" banter of special attention. Eh...still a pretty small complaint overall. It's definitely a nice, cozy spot here, and worth checking out.

Yelp
Great woodwork, really nice bar. Cool light fixtures. Nice vibe around the fireplace. Thought $6 was a little steep for a B52...but then again...I've been out of the bar scene for years ;)

Yelp
This bar is a piece of shit that does not care about the happiness of their customers. Came during the final four with a group of 10 UVA and MSU fans. Had called ahead prior and was told sound would be played for the game. Arrive to the bar with below average service and sit down to a table. Not only is the sound not playing for the game, the old bartender with patchy baldness is incredibly rude, saying "I'm NOT talking about this again, my owners do NOT care about you"... wow. Do not waste your time here.

Yelp
I just moved to Michigan from out of state and was denied service at Third Street because of my temporary Michigan license. The manager told me I didn't have a "valid" ID, even though I was literally showing her my valid Michigan ID that I received from the state of Michigan. I've used this temporary ID at other establishments and been served. I will not support Third Street.

Yelp
For what it is I have to give it 5 stars...for what I needed it to be on a Monday night after work I'd give it 1. Honestly, I just wanted some freaking pie...what I got was incredibly loud (read: ear piercing...and I'm pretty sure I'm partially deaf) indie rock to heavy metal, skipping past the 80's along the way, but still playing Jack Johnson? I was confused and disoriented by what fell out of the juke box at an excruciatingly loud decibel. I'm not sure if this bar is Midtown elitist or Nihilist but I think this is a fine place to come tip a few back if you feel like being in a rowdy space without a rowdy crowd (with exception of the sororityesque woohoo girls that were there that night). Service was great once I was actually acknowledged...then again I left my stocking cap at home so perhaps they just couldn't see me at first. Three bartenders, for maybe 15 people sitting at the bar, plus a table of 8 and our table of two. It appeared a little overstaffed for how unstaffed it seemed, if that makes sense. Then again...my stocking cap, drat. That aside, next time I'd just come back with a flask and use their facility to chill in. It's Moose Lodge meets ski lodge complete with fireplace (working or not, who knows), skeeball, darts and a shuffle board table, some high-top tables and a couch or two. If I was in walking distance I'd be a regular...this is a cool place to chill but I'd come with friends because I didn't get the friendlies from anybody in the building.

Yelp
Jake at Third steeet is an asshole. Does not care about customers. Turned the game off when half the people wanted to watch. Got stubborn and then ignorant. Not a bad bar but people here do not treat you well

Yelp
This review is for Inside 3rd - the brunch that occur at Third Street bar. We were there on a Saturday... I'm not 100% positive if it occurs on Sundays as well. But this brunch was FANTASTIC. I ordered the 313 breakfast nachos which are thinly sliced potatoes with chorizo, scrambled eggs, shredded cheese, sour cream and peppers. I added avocado to it as well. I had this with a couple of mimosas and my bill was about $20. The mimosas are $5 a piece and they also had a bloody mary offering that came with a tostitos pizza roll a top it! I found the food to be absolutely delicious. The only complaints several of my friends had were the portions. They did tend to be slightly on the small side and the chorizo was minimal on the breakfast nachos, but overall, it was delicious. I'd definitely recommend this as a brunch spot. Plus, we have a group of 12 or so and they were very accommodating.

Jill W.

Yelp
worse place I have ever been, terrible service they don't even acknowledge you, took about 30 minutes for the employees to even notice we were there. The bartender was one of the rudest people i've ever spoken to she needs to lose her job very bad attitude and the few employees they do have look and act like they're on drugs. These people have absolutely no idea what they're doing, do not recommend

Yelp
Came here on a Friday with a small group. The crowd was good, although college-y, the bar had a rustic feel with lots of weird quirks like a fireplace and a ring toss game. However, there were downsides. There was a really creepy guy with a red beard sitting at the bar that kept staring at a friend of mine, which, you can't really blame the bar for, but that was just the start of the night. Then, the same Taylor Swift or whoever song played 10 times in a row on the jukebox. You would think the bartender would skip it or something, but the Johnny Bravo looking bartender just ignored it and the Japanese or something bartender was nowhere to be found (she was apparently outside talking to people). Suffice to say, it took forever to get a drink. The drinks we got were good when we finally got them and it was a decent place otherwise, but it had really slow bar service and weird people sitting around the bar.

Yelp
Loud. So loud. And very bad karaoke that only gets louder the worse the singing. Loud. Loud. Loud.
google avatar

Chante C.

Yelp
This bar is basically my home: I eat, relax, and drink in it on the regular. The owners are two brothers that are generous but know when to toe the line and keep order. Between the plethora of pies, (smog ftw and any sweet pie w/ some ice cream), shuffle board, darts, some ring toss game, and a fantastic jukebox, there's just always something to do. I love this place and as long as you're not the frat-tastic type who likes to get belligerent and slap girls butts/start fights this place will love you right back.
google avatar

Johnny D.

Yelp
First time here was winter so it seemed like a hole in the wall. This time it was a little nicer out and I now see it's one of those outdoor patio bars, so I'll have to definitely have to check it out more. Maybe I'll even order a drink next time.

Mike G.

Yelp
It was his idea though. He made me do it. The power of suggestion...bartender dude is good at what he does ;) This place is the shit, and they know they're the shit.
google avatar

Paul J.

Yelp
This bar should be great. It has lots of games (darts, shuffleboard, ski ball, etc.). It also has ample space and a sizable bar. Service was absolute dog poop. The staff seemed more interested in hanging out and focusing on a select few patrons that they appeared to know, than actually doing their jobs. Additionally, if you play the jukebox, the staff/bartenders will regularly skip your songs and put whatever they want on (which essentially defeats the point of having the juke box). Put those Canadian tuxedos to rest guys. Fake Detroiters trying too hard to be cool are ultimately ruining what should be a great spot. Please continue playing your Nickelback and Good Charlotte on repeat so you can attract the sewer trash that hangs out there and keep them away from the rest of the self respecting establishments.
google avatar

Erin L.

Yelp
This bar has pretty good food and atmosphere. Plus, the staff is competent. People won't be disappointed in coming for a good time here.
google avatar

Heather C.

Yelp
Laid back type of place. Bartenders are fast and know how to make a drink. This place isn't pretentious, it's just a bar. You want to have a drink with some friends with some good music playing while sitting on the patio? Come here. You want have a drink by yourself? Come here. No matter your mood, come here.

Sarah P.

Yelp
This place has a fun atmosphere. Drinks were reasonably priced. Bartenders were extremely rude, and so was security. Stayed there for over two hours enjoyed company, played games, and listened to music others played on the box! We did find it disrespectful that when the music we paid for, and chose was skipped over because it was not acceptable to the bar. We couldn't get an answer as to why! But all answers we did get were very rude, prejudice and extremely disrespectful to our character. You would think in this day, and age that individuals who pay their hard earned cash could share common respect amongst others in a gathering place like a bar for 12 mins of their time. Not at the Third St Bar! Don't waste your time or your money!
google avatar

Stacy M.

Yelp
It's been awhile but I was pretty happy with the place. Low key crowd and relaxed atmosphere Taylor? Tylor? () was a great bartender and even took special orders!! Can't wait to order more French whore shots!! Thanks again!!!
google avatar

Jamie L.

Yelp
Came here for Dangerously Delicious pies (It lives up to the name) Grabbed a beer at the bar- good enough selection of Michigan based beer, although it would be awesome if they had more on tap. The highlight of my night was the 2 bartenders- both with a good sense of humor. bartender number 1 (you know the one with the "johnny Bravo"ish hair) clicked my pen open for me when handing me the check! SCORE. Bartender number 2 (the Ice chuck-er) Easy on the eyes, poured shots, check, and check. but in all seriousness a cute little dive, cozy, not to loud for a Tuesday. ***UPDATE*** Bartender number 1 was back in action in a Don Draper Fashion. (less Johnny Bravo, more Draper.) He said something about wet lunch. Karaoke later on Tuesday- was a good crowd of people, no one was completely intolerable to listen too, except maybe myself.

Kristen J.

Yelp
They require people from outside of the US to show a PASSPORT... even when they had a government ID. They turned away my friends at the door. I would choose another bar in the area if you're looking, and I will never go back.
google avatar

Heidi M.

Yelp
I enjoy the patio very much, although there is no wait staff and you have to go inside and up to the bar to order. I love that Dangerously Delicious Pies are there, so yummy. The inside of the bar is always really hot in the summer, I don't think they have air conditioning. BEWARE WHERE YOU PARK. My car was stolen while I was there last week. Can't really blame it on the bar, I was not parked in their lot cause it was full, but it does kinda make me think twice about going back.

AJ M.

Yelp
I know others have already posted about our company Christmas party but I need to weigh in too. There were over 100 people and only 1 bartender, which was a debacle. The bartender didn't know how to make a drink I wanted (an old fashioned) and didn't seem to mind the long line of people waiting to get drinks. I mentioned that it was odd they only had him and he just shrugged it off. As our company president is making his end of year Christmas speech, his truck rolls by on a flatbed out the window. Turns out the bartender is the owner and has a deal with a local towing company to get a cut on the towed cars. SO, they keep the patrons occupied in long lines for the bar while towing their cars that have been locked in a parking lot we were told to park in for the party. I was lucky and rode with someone else but other people got towed and had to pay to get their cars out. Really a horrible thing to do to people at a company Christmas party! Grrrrrrrrr I have faith though, what you put out there comes back to you - KARMA spares no one!

Yelp
I admit, the main reason I like Third is because it is on my block, so closing it down and stumbling home is as easy as it comes. But it has other redeeming qualities too. The crowd is relatively diverse with hipsters, Wayne students and locals (as I type that, I realize those three groups could be synonyms... but I swear it's got a variety of folk). The jukebox keeps the mood consistent with the folks who are there on any given night. I've definitely been there when CCR or Journey is keeping the place swinging, but you never know when its gonna be Neil Young or Lady Gaga either. The Taco truck is solid. I recommend the Shrimp. Bartenders aren't great when there's a crowd, but there's not usually a crowd, so it never really bothers me. I've been with groups of folks where people have gotten pretty pissed about the service though.

Yelp
This is a FANTASTIC little bar to hang out in. "Dangerously Delicious Pies"...and they're not talking about dessert pies, these wedges of hearty food are outstanding. Try the "SMOG", and you won't be disappointed. Solid selection of beers, great prices. The interior of the bar is just simply awesome. You'd probably never in a million years guess that it looks like that on the inside while driving or walking past it - but trust me, take the time to walk inside and you'll probably start coming there on a regular basis. And there are wrestling championship belts hanging behind the bar. Yes, you read that right. Apparently if there's a wrestling event going on anywhere that's televised, they're all over it and watching. The only negative "ding" I can give it is that the staff isn't really all that attentive. Even with next to nobody in the place, we still wound up walking up to the bar to get each round...but hey, it was a nice day, and it's a really laid back and mellow place, so I can't really fault them too much on this front. If I could only "ding" them a half-star, I would. Given the cheap prices and everything else that was right with this place, it's something that's easy to handle. Seriously, go here and check it out. Absolutely worth it.

Yelp
Been here a bunch of times and it's a pretty cool bar with great outdoor seating when the weather is nice. They just newly renovated behind the bar and looks much better. Drinks are good and staff is cool. This is a great place for large groups it can be a little over whelming with college kids since Wayne state is around the corner .

Yelp
I give Third Street 3 stars for the bar and 4 stars for the food. I went here with a group of friends for a birthday outing, and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed myself. As was mentioned in all of the posts, the place was mostly empty, and they definitely need better instructions on how to get inside. The bartender was nice and efficient considering he was the only one there. We also brought a cake, and he gave us a knife and plates and such (can't have a birthday party without cake). As for the food, they serve Mexican food now and it was really delicious. I ate before I drank too, so this is for real. A friend said, you know the food is cooked in that trailer out back, and quite honestly, I think that made it better. I will be stopping in for lunch.

Yelp
Come here. Come here now. You don't know what you're missing! If you are a local, please come on Tuesday nights, eat some pie, listen to my best friend and I sing Vanessa carleton's 1,000 miles, and have a dang good time! If you aren't a local, come for Sunday brunch, it's new and fresh and amazing and with the drink prices, no wrong can be done. From the outside it may not seem like much, but the inside will have you coming back for ages

Yelp
Just hanging out after work and one of my fellow YELPERS goes here often and I have seen his review. Since I drive by this place every morning I decided to meet one of my fellow workers at the 3rd Street Saloon. Luckily they have a small parking lot in the back and that is where I was able to park - yay! So, I walk in and am surprised by the decor - it sort of looks like a lodge or something that belongs in the woods!!! No problem. So, I find a table - they are all high top picnic type tables and wooden chairs that are also high that goes with the table, duhhhhh. Anyway, me being only 5 ft. 4 inches I sort of have to lady-like crawl up onto the chair! Sort of an oxymoron - eh! As I am sitting there the chair hits the back of my legs just in that certain place where it hurts. So, I have readjust and readjust until I am somewhat comfortable. Me thinks that 3rd Street Saloon should get a few tables that are lower for us shorties! I am playing with my telephone because #1 my co-worker has not gotten there and #2 not sure if the bar has waitress service or not. So, after checking into YELP and checking my email I get up and stroll over to the bar and ask for some cabernet - oh no - they don't have any cabernet, I have a dilemma. Okay, so what type of red wine do you have I ask???? I think it was Pinot Noir - okay that sounds good enough, give me a glass of that! Finally, my co-worker gets there and we are celebrating her birthday (so that means my treat, ugh). So I saunter up to the bar again and ask for another glass for my friend and also ask if they have food there. Well, lo and behold they do, but it is in the back and it is all about pies! Each slice is $6, so I order a ham and cheese pie, pay, and then rejoin my co-worker. So, the pie arrived and we had split it. Very generous piece and salad with a vainegerate dressing came with it. Delicious is the word that comes to mind. The music was a little loud and I don't think I will go back with this particular co-worker, but if I can someone as rowdy as me I definitely will go again!

Yelp
I would give 3rd Street 3 stars, but they loose one because their music is always WAY TOO LOUD! The music they play is mostly from pandora, but even if its from the jukebox, its just really absurdly insanely loud. Even if there's only one other party besides yours. Plus side... cheap well drinks. $3 for a well drink, with good pours. There's table shuffleboard for a dolla a pop. In the winter, The Hub hosts stationery bike "Hub Sprints" races. Proceeds go to local bike shop The Hub. Racing is uuuber fun, and they get everything hooked up all fancy with a computer and a projector so you can see who's winning! Last summer, they had a taco truck on the patio, which had AWESOME tacos! (RE A... take note, grrl!) I just wanted to mention this because the tacos were so good. I don't know if they serve food these days, but they should bring it back if they're not. Occasionally they have rock shows/dj nights/drag queen bingo, which are always fun. 3rd Street is a big win for the smoking community, because their outdoor picnic tables offer more than enough room to have a good time. BIKES::: I bring mine inside.

Yelp
At times like this, a one star review seems generous. Came here last night and ordered a Crown and Coke, bartender poured the drink and I paid. I took one sip and knew that the coke was completely flat. I handed it back to the bartender and told him that the coke was flat and asked if he could give me a new one. For a $10.00 drink I REALLY don't think I was asking too much. He laughed at me and said "it's opening day, what do you expect?" um. sir. I expect that when I pay $10.00 for a drink and it's not correct I should be given a new one. SHOCKING REVELATION, I know. He then proceeded to tell me that it was last call and that he would not be pouring me another drink - literally 30 seconds after he poured me the first drink! He then proceeds to go to the other end of the bar to poor tequila shots for his (I presume) friends and start taking shots himself. I will never be back here again.

Yelp
Every review that isn't 5 Stars is fake news. Friendly staff, great drinks, and the best bar layout/patio in Detroit. I could come to this bar everyday for 957 years and not regret 0.25 seconds. This bar is better than a double stacked corned beef sandwich hand fed to you by Miss Ireland on St. Patty's day. This bar is so great that they named the street after the bar, not vice versa. This bar is so amazing that as a junior, my kid will take my name, just so he will have a '3rd' at the end of his. If you are thinking of a place to go tonight, go to third. If you don't, then you aren't thinking.

Yelp
Not a bad place. The interior is quite beautiful with lots of neat woodwork and such. I've been here a few times, and it's always been kind of empty, but I think that's to be expected since it had been closed for a long time, and has just recently reopened. I think Third Street has the potential to be a decent bar. Well, unless it's overtaken by douche bags; that would be detrimental. Come to think of it, I did see a dude there with 5 popped collared shirts on his person! Crazeeeee. As for the booze, I don't recall if there was any good draft beer, or whether there was any draft beer at all. Every time I've been there, I've gotten bottled beer. Speaking of which, the bottled beer selection isn't too bad. I was happy that they had Crooked Tree. Also worth noting about the interior: I really like how the bar is kind of high up. I think it improves my posture. At other bars, I have this kind of "bar hunch," you know, where you're kind of like, hunched over the bar, right? I was told by one of the bartenders that it's actually the floor that is low, which causes the effect of the bar being high. At any rate, it's nice.

Yelp
My favorite place to be every Tuesday night! Karaoke at 10pm! The crowd is great, the food is great, the drinks are cheap, and Chris the bartender is awesome! Can't believe they don't have a higher rating. It's a very homely place, and the decor is improving every week.

Yelp
Went in here on a rainy afternoon. It was mostly empty - perfect for a post-recycling center visit afternoon cocktail. We had terrific service, and took full advantage of the entertainment (a jukebox and shuffleboard). the decor is pretty great - except there's a large wall covered with a giant bamboo photo print - not sure how that fits in with the reclaimed vintage Detroit look. Would need to try it again before making it a total favorite.
