I was very impressed with the number of comfort food options. Nothing like homemade southern cooking. Our waitress was very nice and always made sure that our drinks were filled and we were enjoying our food. She even gave us her opinion of her favorite sides. The food is reasonably priced for the amount of food you receive. My only complaint was the butter not being soft for the rolls and cornbread, but for some it's a preference. We will come back to eat here when we are in Austin again.

Great place to take your kids to actually start liking vegetables, they are incredible here! Complimentary cornbread and yeast rolls with butter. Free second servings of side dishes. Unlimited drink refills.

Longtime favorite restaurant with plenty of great food to offer. My personal favorite is the Chicken Fried Steak with Mashed Potatoes and Red Beans and Rice. They also have many other home style comfort foods on the menu. The staff is friendly and quick. Add to the place is some live music ( Check times to see who is playing )and you can pretty much guarantee a great time for yourself .

Music, chickenfried steak and service are incredible but they also have the best veggie sides on earth. Go hungry and leave smiling. The fried green tomatoes are the best I've had. We will miss you, RIP Threadgill's 😷😣😢😭

Historic restaurant with live music and classic foods. Only I picked the place because of the live music. Well it turns out this was the only night without live music. And there’s another one, the international headquarters or something? Maybe that’s where my music was. Back to me sitting sadly at a table with a red checkered tablecloth, reflecting on the empty room, excepting a couple half-complaining about the food, half-complimenting the waiter on the food. The best part of the visit was the chicken fried coveting on my steak, which was delicious. Everything else was meh. If I come back and get live music (because I actually planned ahead) I’ll go up a star or two. ;)

I am a frequent diner at Old #1. Usually I’m a chicken fried steak man, but on this week’s visit it occurred to me that in the 25 years I’ve been coming to Threadgills, I’ve not had their burger. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with mustard, no tomatoes or onions. Burger came with tomatoes and onions, but no mustard. I removed the offending items and dug in absent the preferred condiment. At first glance, the burger seemed smaller than the usual. But it was more than enough. Well prepared and tasty, I found this burger a delight. Bacon crispy, patty was perfectly cooked and the bun held up! Really a terrific burger. Would have been better with mustard.
