Three Crowns

Took my husband here for his birthday at the weekend, we both had the vegan roast and it was really tasty. Reasonably priced wine too!

Wow, can’t say enough good things about this place! Stopped at the Z Hotel across the road for 3 days (2 adults and 2 children), came across for a drink each night, excellent service and great atmosphere. On the second night we opted to sample the food and that didn’t disappoint, all the meals were well prepared, tasted great and left us feeling satisfied. Highly recommend.

This is a pub that I always like to start at when I'm staying in the area, and I've always had a warm welcome every time I come here, and today was no exception. Had the burger while I was here while watching the football, and it was one of the best burgers I've ever had in London. Great service, great food. Absolutely would recommend.

Went in for a random Monday night dinner, and I really liked the vibe. They were having a pub quiz but had so many other tables available for dinner, and we didn’t get bothered at all by the noise. The pub is huge, the cosy atmosphere is really nice and the food is honestly really good! I really enjoyed the pork chop, it was perfectly cooked! The fish cake was okay but the broccolini were a bit too sour due to the lemon juice. Otherwise everything else was quite enjoyable, will definitely come back.

Top notch food, with stone cold service. Both staff appeared rather miserable. It wasn’t busy, but minimal effort and consequently it felt very transactional. The presence one member of staff actually created a depressing atmosphere whenever you interacted with her. In stark contrast, the food wss perfect and one of the best pub roasts I’ve had in a while. This could be a real attraction if the customer service was made warmer and friendlier.

Lovely little pub just off old street. Looks pretty from the outside, the inside has an interesting decor but it's not bad by any means just quirky. On the pricier side but it's old street, that's to be expected unfortunately. Great selection of beers, plenty of your standard lagers and other, but also plenty of variety on the IPA front. Can't speak for the other drinks, but my mate had a nice wine. Have tried food here before and it's pretty tasty. The menu always has some interesting dishes that you wouldn't find in just any pub like some nice starters.

Nice environment, chicken Sunday roast was so so good … but the beef roast was not worth it at all (so bland)

Bloke who must’ve been the manager incredibly rude to me and my family, watched him with other customers and attitude was diabolical. Didn’t even bother finishing up and left after such a sour taste was left in our mouths, quite a disappointing outcome for what seems like it could be a nice pub.

Great Guinness pour at this local pub. That is if you're looking for a proper, icy-cold, perfectly frothy pint of Guinness.

Cool pub where we spent a few good hours on a new year's eve a few years back. Friendly staff, good drinks and great music.

Walked past this pub the other day and it looked promising. Booked for Sunday lunch and was not disappointed - very good food, excellent slow cooked lamb with all the trimmings. Shout out for Jade, who was an excellent host, serving drinks and food to us and with proper care and attention. She has a lovely manner too. A real find - we will return!

This was quite a surprise popping up on the corner over here in Shoreditch! After months of construction, it just appeared like water in the dessert. Three Crowns! Revitalized. Totally updated from top to bottom. Three cheers! I hear it used to be quite rough. Five of us attended dinner here on their first week open. Will give the benefit of the doubt that they're finding their feet, as it seems promising. Standouts: Terrine & cornichons "Plate of Tomatoes" - boring name, lovely dish. Very fresh. Wine. When is it not, yes? Service was quite good. Buzzing ambience. In the times since that I've walked past, it is quite literally always busy. On the warmer evenings, folks spill out onto the sidewalks and it's quite festive as the side street here (Brunswick) isn't very busy. Their chalkboard out front leads me to believe they are open for breakfast and lunch as well, so will definitely pop back in to see if the menu's gotten a bit more steady. Definitely an improvement and a nice option in the area for a few drinks and snacks.

Shoreditch, as a nightlife destination, has a surprising shortage of nice pubs. The area around the Old St roundabout is particularly bad, and so it was great to see the Three Crowns reopen, after a period where it was looking in danger of being converted into flats or offices. The pub itself has been renovated well, and has a great selection of beer, both traditional cask ales and a few great craft beers from the keg. The area at the back is a restaurant, and the quality of the food is good, without being overly expensive. I've eaten there once, and opted for the featherblade of beef, which was slow cooked and fell apart nicely. I tried some of my friend's duck hash, which was also pretty good. I'll definitely be back to try some of the other dishes.

Lunch times have never been so indulgent! The 3 Crowns makes no bones about its commitment to fresh ingredients, daily changing menues and talented Chefs. Oh, yes and they serve drinks too. But no, for me, the food is the main star here. With a fantastic supporting cast of beer, wine, cocktails, atmosphere and canny staff, it commands your attention. Enter the matinee performance of their incredible set lunch. £15 for two courses and £18 for three courses is criminal. Why? Because its not the dodgy cuts of meat, loads of veg and leftovers from the night before. It has exactly the same attention to detail that debuts in the evening performance. Dishes like pigeon, slow cooked mutton (8 hours dude), home made chicken liver and much more feature on this little daytime treat! During my week day visit, I had a starter of grilled calcots with pepper sauce and hazelnuts. Now I have had this in its natural habitat, Barcelona, with authentic Catalonians, so I was intrigued. Tick the yes box please. It was good. For main, there was the slow cooked mutton, tender, with lentils, fennel and mint partnered with a side of steamed cabbage with anchovy and chilli. Simply because of how amazing the deal was, I had to be a greedy guts and have the chocolate and walnut brownie with fudge sauce and ice cream - cue losening your belt. The 3 Crowns near Old Street station is a winner all day, but this deal cannot be beat. I dare you to find me another as good.

This was another great find in the quest for a good work lunch spot! This little gastro pub looks like your average London boozer (allbeit with a slightly more welcoming and airy feel than some) but the menu was fantastic. It was like being in a very expensive and upmarket pub but with their two course deals (two for £15) it certainly didn't have that price tag! The food can be described as perhaps slightly on the pretentious side for a pub (Goat herders pie anyone?) but it was delicious and very well cooked. The ingredients felt fresh and well cooked and it was just a very enjoyable meal! Something a bit different from the usual!

The fish is disgusting. Be careful what you order. Over priced and not good. The one star would be for the service. Very nice. But I will never forget the TERRIBLE taste of this fish.

Great pub. Tons of beers on tap and really good food. I was happily surprised! Went during the week for some brews and dinner and had a great time. The pub is much larger than it appears on the outside and super cozy. I ordered the vegan mushroom strogonoff (was hesitant at first) but it was AMAZING. So delicious and washed down with some great IPAs. Casual scene but really enjoyed it.

Great for breakfast and many other things!! Fab little place and fortunate for me it's just opposite work!! Woop woop!! Staff is friendly and chatty, never a long wait! This place is generally a great place to hang out with friends and have a good time!!

The place itself is very nice, and you can see the chefs at work which, in my opinion, is great. Th etables are a bit too close together so feels quite crowded and where I sat, people were always brushing past, annoying to say the least. I came here for Sunday Lunch and had 3 courses, a Clam and Leek Chowder, Roast Beef dinner and the Choc Brownie dessert. I have to say that the food was almost amazing, unfortunately, and this may have just been a one-off, the beef was so stringy, it was hard to cut through some parts to the point of my hands were getting tired, and had to chew large bits which were really hard to chew so had to swallow whole bits. There were some tender pieces, Also,m the green accompanying the meal were just Cabbage (or something similar), not really what I call greens. It was a real shame because the rest of the food was very tasty and plenty of it. I will be back, just to prove myself wrong and hopefully submit a review of my review.

All I can say is.. do not get the grouse!!! I am rarely unable to eat a dish I order, but this Grouse was so disgusting I couldn't even try. I simply pushed the plate away and nibbled on the side dishes. I have to say that the appetizers were quite good and my friend's meal looked normal (nothing special).. but that grouse.. oh god... GROSS GROUSE! It tasted like old leather??

Amazing food, amazing atmosphere. The staff is friendly and the service fast. The food is tasty and particular. Sometimes it is a bit hard to understand what's in the dishes only reading the menu so it's a place where you can go plenty of times and always eat something different. Definitely recommended.

Where do you go when you'd like to watch the Euro 2008 final, but you only thought to head out and look for a venue 10 minutes before the match starts and you'd like to sit down? Well, this is the spot for you! We wandered in and found chairs available a mere minute or two before game time. They served us a couple of pints of bitter and then decided that something was funny with those taps, so suddenly made more bitter unavailable. Made us worry our pints were a bit off, but they tasted alright to us. There are several pool tables downstairs, though football was the only reason everyone was in the pub when I was there. If you'd like an uncrowded pub, then this is probably for you. I don't think that they serve meals, though they do have quite the selection of crisps and nuts.

Good, but not a traditional English pub. Mix of Mediterranean and British, with some French. Menu could have a better layout, not a large selection.

Had dinner here - quail for appetizer and then steak. Everything was delicious and great service. Definitely recommend!

The best British and European restaurant I have tried in London.

Absolutely inedible. Everything we got we hated. Starting from bland squash soup, have you ever heard of salt ? The Hungarian paprika sausage. Simple enough dish. Nice presentation. Completely dry and unpleasant flavor. One bite is all I could do. The mash potatoes were also dry. I didn't think it was possible to mess this up. The only thing that was not bad on this plate was the pickled red cabbage. Which was just ok. Moving on to our other entrée. The smoked fish. Wow. We're you trying to make this repulsive? The smell was unbearable. Once we got over the smell and managed to chew it, we agreed on how terrible it was. I've never tasted cat food, but if I had that's what I imagine the flavor would be. We then decided to quickly ask for the check. We left still hungry. Very angry on how over priced the food was for the quality offered. Service was good but I will never set a foot on this place again. Extremely disappointed.

Just been for lunch today with 5 colleagues. The food was excellent. The portions were quite large and all dishes were very tasty. We opted for the lunch menu which is 2 courses for £15 or 3 courses for £18 which given the location and the standard of food is excellent. The restaurant has a nice atmospher and the waiting staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. My only slight criticism was that the menu is very meat heavy and there isnt much option on the lunch menu for veggies. That said, the veggie option of polenta with asparagus was delicious. I will definitely be back again soon!

Nice buzzy atmosphere and great comfy leather seats in the dining area. We had a nice cocktail in the bar area first and then were seated in the adjoining restaurant where the open kitchen overlooks. The food was really rather good I had onglet which is a type of steak cooked rare and served with tomato chutney and hand-cut chips, my friend had cod potatoes and aioli which was also very good. We shared a dessert of meringue with hazelnuts and cream, I really wish I knew how they get them so crunch on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside! our waiter was full of jovial charm and helped us choose (a not so pricy) bottle of wine which we also enjoyed. We shall return!

Had an excellent dinner here while in London. I enjoyed the polenta and squash while my companion the beef pie. We shared a dessert of lemon and berry compote. All was of very high quality and presentation impeccable. Overall delicious! I would recommend this gastro pub !

surprised yes it was a one bar pub last time i was in there,pleasant staff who warned me the real ale was warm.food looked good,and ale was ok,and prices were ok.will visit again for sure.

Consistently delicious. A definite the 'parents visiting' dinner go to. Always seem to have a nice scrumpy cider on tap and good red wines (though I'm no connoisseur!) Though the menu is ever changing, if they have a pie, I'd highly recommend you plug for that!
