Downtown’s minimalist espresso bar serves carefully extracted drinks and house-made alt milks. Its no-tipping, higher-wage model drew coverage from the Salt Lake Tribune, underscoring a people-first approach alongside excellent coffee.

Google
I love this place. Great location and consistently excellent coffee. The lavender chai cookies are the best! No tips and taxes are included in the menu pricing which I love! Just like I'm Germany. I don't think they serve medium or dark espresso, it's been light roast every time I've come. Additional information: No bathrooms for customers, serves pastries but not hot foods, no decaf, vegan milks available, self-serve water, indoor and outdoor seating, wheelchair accessible.

I was born and raised in South Lake Tahoe and this is the best coffee shop our little town has ever had. Exquisite coffee, excellent food, and most importantly genuine hospitality. Very intentional in all their business decisions.

Google
Had a great matcha! The staff were super friendly. Love the outdoor seating.

Google
nice coffee shop at downtown, open at 8 am, nice Latte art and good tasty.

Google
Loved this coffee shop that was conveniently located across our hotel. A perfect pick me up before our Ski Days at Brighton. Cozy sophisticated vibe on the inside ... if you have time, sit down and enjoy the vibes and grab a seat by the counter and enjoy the view. As Coffee snobs, my wife and I both loved the lattes here! During our 3 day trip to SLC, we got coffee here twice!

Google
This coffee was the best coffee we’ve had so far during our roadtrip in the US. We are from Central Europe and we’re used to acidic light roast specialty coffees. They have wonderful no-bullshit menu. The only thing we were missing was flatwhite.

Google
Looking for good coffee? This is your place. They serve coffee from a roaster called"Heart" that is excellent. Just a few small baked goods as far as food goes. Staff are very friendly. Limited indoor seating but there are tables outside.

Google
Three Pines is hands down the best cafe in Utah. The level of expertise and passion that the baristas here hold is obvious from the first sip of any drink, and the pastries are incredibly delicious. I’ve chatted with both of the owners and they are so kind and cool, and their no-tipping policy shows that they really do care about their employees and the food they make. No matter what you get here, you’ll leave with a spring in your step and taste in your mouth that will have you thinking, “wow, what a beautiful life!”

Yelp
Do one thing, do it well. That's this place in a nutshell. It makes coffee. Very very well. No tipping, no wifi, no particular extravagance or extras, just really great coffee in a really cozy spot. Plus vinyl! There's something about the simple coffee + music vibe here that really works. It's tiny so you might not get a seat, but if you do you'll appreciate your entire experience. I would also like to award a sixth star for the name and logo. As a reader of the Inspector Gamache series, it's kind of perfect.

Yelp
Excellent little coffee shop in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City. After a bunch of travel, I needed an afternoon pick-me-up and something to eat before a later dinner and Three Pines Coffee did the trick. The vanilla, oat milk latte was expertly crafted and the quality of the beans was evident in each and every sip. A selection of pastries and bagels all looked great and I opted for the everything bagel heated and served with a side of cream cheese. The bagel was top notch with a great crunch on the outside and served so you could pull it apart and dunk it in the cream cheese. A unique approach but it worked! The coffee shop is bright and friendly and a record player with a solid lineup of records was behind the counter which must make for an amazing music vibe within the coffee shop. Definitely will be checking this place out again when back in SLC!

Yelp
My partner is an absolute coffee snob, and he said his cappuccino tasted like one in Italy! Extremely high praise for him. Service was quick and friendly. The interior was cozy and had only a handful of seats, but it was not busy on the morning we stopped in. Matcha was highly rated but was $7-8 which was a little steep, but the price includes tax and no tipping is necessary. Would consider trying it out next time!

Yelp
I heard about this place on Instagram and so glad I found it. It was right around the corner from our hotel. The place was cute inside and out. If it wasn't so chilly it would have been nice to sit outside in front of the shop watching folks walk by. The shop is located downtown in a great location. The coffee was good and strong! Perfect. And our barista was super nice and welcoming when he found out we were from out of town. We purchased a bag to brew at home. I highly recommended visiting Three Pines Coffee if you are in Salt Lake, Utah.

Yelp
My dirty chai is not listed on menu but the barista was kind enough to offer to make it when I asked if they had it. It was delicious! I love how smooth the frothed milk is and how it's not foamy. It's like if I need to describe the perfect frothed milk and it gets it.

Yelp
I visited a while ago after I saw their "brew" painting on TikTok. I was looking for a cute place to grab a drink and study. It's cute, yes -- but if you're looking for a study spot with wifi, this is not that place. I took my drink and walked to the library, but I'm not mad about it because it was a nice day and the shop is located on a cute street!! I got my drink pretty quickly, so the service was good!

Yelp
As an avid daily matcha consumer, I always head straight to Yelp whenever visiting a new city to get my morning fix when I'm traveling without the materials to make my own latte. In most cities, it can be challenging to find a shop that doesn't sell a watered down, overpriced version and even more challenging to find one that makes a decent *hot* matcha latte but I was pretty satisfied with Three Pines' iteration. I ordered mine with whole milk, an extra scoop of matcha (no extra charge) and a pump of vanilla syrup. The drink came out adequately strong, the ideal amount of sweet and relatively well-blended without clumps (bonus points for the barista actually sifting the powder) but did still have some powdery residue towards the end. Really appreciated this warm treat on a chilly autumn morning to help fuel my trek up Ensign Peak! I would recommend stopping by either here and/or Matcha Cafe Kyoto (for a wider selection of fun flavors and also desserts, but not open til 11a) to get your matcha fix in Salt Lake :)

Yelp
Cappuccino was excellent Matcha was fantastic Well priced Cute interior Friendly service :) Will definitely visit more than once on our short stay in SLC!

Yelp
The place is cute and inviting but that's about it. The coffee we got was gross. We asked for extra ice, so it could be more ice and less milk. We got 5 ice cubes in each 12oz latte. We asked for a remake and the 2 baristas said it's not possible because that's how much ice goes into a 12oz. We asked again and we got 1 remade and it was the exact same thing. 5 ice cubes. This was a joke and we walked out of there not sure if it just happened. I've been a barista for 8 years and those baristas could have easily fixed our coffee. Will not come back.

Yelp
One of the best coffee destinations in town for a very curated coffee experience. The flavor profiles are fantastic, and the owner clearly cares about using the highest quality beans, creamers, etc. The location is perfectly situated downtown, with limited seating inside but generally enough space to sit.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent espresso. I visited last Tuesday and loved my cappuccino so much that I had to visit the very next day as well. Had a cappuccino both times. I love how they offered two different types of espresso- I tried both the blend and their Colombian- both were excellent. I'd love to visit again if I am ever in the area!

Yelp
I love to try coffee in new cities and we stopped at three pines our first day in SLC. it was highly rated so I was so excited to give it a try! The shop is really tight, not big enough to push our stroller in so my husband had to wait outside which wouldn't have been a big deal but it had just snowed and was absolutely freezing. I was the only one ordering coffee and it seemed to take a long time even with 4 girls behind the register. One was glued to her phone, so more like 3. Once we got our coffee it was.... Okay. A bit sour? Which isn't a flavor I've experience before. Not my preferred shop.
google avatar

Janice L.

Yelp
Lovely coffee spot and still one of my slc favorites ! Service is chill. Can't go wrong with any of the drinks- I love the lattes, matcha, and chai. Knocking off one star due to value. Overpriced in my opinion, but I guess you pay for it being in the heart of downtown.
google avatar

Jasmine L.

Yelp
Always assign to stop in when I visit. Such unique flavored is what keeps me coming back. The vibe is very coffee shopesque, including the service.

Faith B.

Yelp
I paid extra to get vanilla sweeter in my matcha and it tasted unsweetened and for $8 that was very disappointing. I would not come here again
google avatar

Craig A.

Yelp
Coffee/espresso is delicious. Indie music spinning on the record player Great baristas. Great vibe.
google avatar

Yasmine H.

Yelp
Super nice people and cute place! There is minimal seating but a few great window seats to people-watch while doing laptop work. I'll get the 8oz next time because I barely tasted the coffee for 12oz.
google avatar

Abby H.

Yelp
I know it's a coffee shop... but I came for the cookies. The brown butter chocolate chunk cookies they serve on Mondays and Wednesdays are fantastic. The store itself is beautiful. I love the simplistic design and how fresh and clean it feels. Parking is limited and so is seating but there is some areas to sit outside the shop if you need a minute to relax. The staff was very friendly, and a 5 star coffee shop in my opinion!
google avatar

Yelp
Best coffee I've had in SLC all week. (I'm visiting from California.) I had the Ethiopian drip coffee black of course. So good! No cream or sugar necessary. Nice place to sit outside and enjoy my fresh cup.
google avatar

Yelp
We did an unreasonable amount of coffee sampling this trip and Three Pines really stood out. Had two killer espresso options that both outclassed what we have back home in DC. Only 4 bucks for clearly high end stuff. Barista was super chill and described the options in perfect relatable detail. Basically a high end espresso experience without the bougie pretense .

Yelp
My favorite coffee shop in SLUT. Great roasts available, very basic menu, top spot for coffee aficionados.

Yelp
I really hate this place. The staff is glib and impatient. Clearly they do not want you there. The food that they serve is stale sometimes disgusting. Coffee is substandard. I kind of don't get it and although this shouldn't be important, I am just gonna say that the place is decorated very strangely. It looks like there was an earthquake and whatever it was left on the walls stayed.

Yelp
Love the coffee at Three Pines. Having tried the coffee at most places within a 2-block radius, Three Pines is by far my favorite. A couple things to be aware of... As many others have already stated, this is a great place to come grab a coffee to go, even grab a coffee 'for here' to stop and read a book, but be aware there is no WiFi or seating for more than two to three people. Pastries are limited and varying most mornings, though they usually have at least two or three options to choose from. Many people say this place is more expensive than others, but keep in mind tax is included and there is no tipping option on any of their items so it ends up being a better price than other places nearby.

Yelp
We love Three Pine Cones, and many others love it too. We've been in twice so far this year and my husband thinks they make the best cappuccinos. From the times we've been in, the little shop has been hustling and bustling with people and a few baristas. The baristas are friendly and efficient, and it's not overly loud. We've order cappuccinos, matcha lattes, and their spiced chai lattes; all of which are amazing. This last time, we even picked up a veggie hand pie, had it warmed up in their tiny toaster oven, and it was demolished in a mere minute or two. Super tasty. We'll be back again!

Yelp
Best coffee shop I've stumbled across in Salt Lake City! All of their drinks are reasonable and the matcha latte was done perfectly! It had just the right of sweetness and had a lovely caffeine punch. Little treats are available for purchase but make sure you go early as they sell out by the afternoon.
google avatar

Yelp
Only giving 4 stars because of the size of the beverages. The service is awesome but overall they don't have a ton of options it's a very basic coffee shop. Nice ambiance with the music and the inviting staff. Just disappointed that a large coffee is a Starbucks "tall" size. Definitely a city coffee stop
google avatar

Holly T.

Yelp
Quaint little coffee shop with good quality beverages and quick service! Great, quiet little spot with good vibes. I recommend.
google avatar

Loren S.

Yelp
Wonderful coffee and bites! I was here on a trip and Three Pines was one of the best parts.
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
I asked for cafe au lait made with the Ethiopian coffee, which is the lighter of the 2 types offered, and the barista told me I should get the other kind of coffee, because if I add milk to the Ethiopian, it will mask the flavor of the coffee. Um , what? I'm a grown ass person, I know what kind of coffee I want to drink, I certainly don't need it mansplained to me. It wasn't very good anyway, I won't be back.
google avatar

Lico J.

Yelp
A small, bright and modern coffee shop. The barista was very friendly and easy to talk to. We got a hot latte and a cold brew and really got nothing to complain. The latte was rich and smooth and the espresso was a pretty balanced one. The cold brew wasn't a strong taste one, either, in case you prefer sth with a lot of stronger or unique flavors. Overall, a good casual downtown coffee shop.
google avatar

Jess A.

Yelp
Good service and good coffee. I had the matcha latte and it was decent. You can actually get it unsweetened. It's funny though, they don't have WiFi and there's a sign on the wall very blatantly stating that. They just get that question a lot. It's in a convenient location downtown if you're already downtown. There isn't a ton of seating though so probably not a good place to work from, especially since they don't have WiFi.
google avatar

Joseph S.

Yelp
Place is welcoming but definitely a don't take junk type of location. Do not order a caramel macchiato, the lady in front of me did and was told off in a respectful way. They also have it posted no bathrooms or WiFi, again in a tasteful way. Solid go to for a quick coffee or pastry
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent service, gorgeous pastry selection, delicious espresso and comfortable ambiance! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Went in for a drip coffee and am feeling ok about it. Nothing special if you want drip and a little bit pricey. Small shop. Looks cozy. Staff was prompt and friendly.
google avatar

Andrea K.

Yelp
Great coffee! It is much smaller inside than I expected, definitely a place to just grab and go. I didn't see a restroom inside.
google avatar

Jenna F.

Yelp
What a surprise this little coffee shop was. Although I looked it up on google maps, somehow I managed to walk right past it. It is a low key, small, and beautiful high ceiling shop. The music was great, the barista chill, and the seating was surprisingly plentiful. I had a cup of black coffee. The description was spot on and I enjoyed every sip. We sat by the window and people watched. I loved the vegan options for food. I had the vegan burrito and was sad when it was gone. My boyfriend had a dirty chai. I stole a few sips and it was just the right amount of spice. If I lived nearby, I would be a regular.
google avatar

Nancy B.

Yelp
I got the iced vanilla latte here. It was good. Coffee tasted smooth and the staff was friendly. One girl came off rude but whatever. My coffee was good but I honestly wouldn't come back. It wasn't amazing
google avatar

Chelsea G.

Yelp
I can't rave enough about how I've converted from a sweet to a savory scone fanatic because of the Date Walnut Rosemary scone here. Things you should know: I. PARKING We just use the street parking for here. It's pretty easy to find availability on a week day II. SERVICE No complaints III. QUALITY This time around, we tried 2 pastries. The beet feta ricotta hand pie and the date walnut rosemary scone. Both outstanding. The density of the coffee it high and strong ~ perfection IV. CAPACITY Available seating for a Tuesday morning, but as the noon hour arrives it really starts getting packed.
google avatar

Yelp
Discovered this super cute coffee shop near the City Creek shopping mall today. I love their simple, wooden interior design and the cute pine wall arts. The barista was very sweet and thoughtful when we placed the order and they made sure we have no dietary restrictions and pick the right milk option. I ordered matcha latte which was super yummy , and my friend was satisfied with his drip coffee as well. We dined in and I love my matcha latte art so much . Will visit again next time I'm in SLC :)

Yelp
If you are attending a conference at the Salt Palace and you like espresso, Three Pines is not to be missed. I visited twice this week, the first day I had banana bread and their Stereo Blend espresso. The bread was flavorful and fresh. Hearty. The espresso was delicious. The second day I had the lemon loaf and their Honduras single origin. The lemon loaf was moist, lemony and satisfying. After a palate cleansing sip of sparkling water, I moved to the espresso. WOW! Citrus up front, followed by some almond, ending with a chocolate-covered almond finish. This was the best espresso I've had outside my home in a long time.

Yelp
Nice little place close to the Monaco that serves limited pastries and good coffee. Best to take it and go since the space is fairly small.
google avatar

Kim S.

Yelp
Such a find! Stumbled upon this place and their coffee was off the charts. Add to it their vinyl collection and what's not to love. Will be back.
google avatar

Anna S.

Yelp
Cute, quaint little cafe. The menu is simple and not too overwhelming. I only ordered coffee drinks, but they do have some cookies and pastries. My friend commented that the iced coffee seemed a little bitter. Other than that, the service was quick and the cafe looked clean.
google avatar

Garrett M.

Yelp
Pretty good spot with a laid back atmosphere. Very popular/busy and pretty small for the crowd that always seems to accumulate. Not a fan of the baked goods but the coffee is very good and the staff is friendly, even when busy.
google avatar

Summer B.

Yelp
Had the matcha with the vanilla syrup. Beautiful and delicious. The space is small but has good style. Records playing, good music. Parking isn't easy.
google avatar

Brittany H.

Yelp
I tried the vanilla latte with oat milk and was impressed with both the flavor and latte art. The vanilla latte had the perfect amount of sweetness. The coffee shop has limited seating available, but is quite cozy if you find a seat.

Jasmin L.

Yelp
I got a latte with the chocolate and oat milk add on, which was basically an oat mocha. Coming out to an $8 total for a 12 oz coffee still surprised me, especially since I couldn't taste the chocolate and the coffee was quite acidic as well.

Matt H.

Yelp
They keep it simple and do it very well. Fantastic coffee drinks. Friendly staff. I was in town for 2 days and went twice.
google avatar

Kurtis J.

Yelp
Outdoor seating was great. Espresso shots were better! On the corner of a fairly bustling street.
