On a rare date night, The Wife and myself wanted to try someplace new, and Ti Amo was on my list. Arriving on a Saturday night without a reservation, we were given about a 20 minute wait with a choice of waiting in the bar, or out front. Since I kinda wanted a drink, we chose to wait in the bar, where we immediately found a 2 top table open.
We were promptly greeted and ordered a couple of cocktails. Ever the picky sort, I inquired about the various labels of bourbon currently available, which in turn led to an enjoyable conversation with a wonderful lady about various labels. Not sure who she was, and I was remiss to make the introduction, but she was a highlight of the evening. Once drinks were served, we decided to just eat at the bar, and we placed our dinner orders.
The Wife went with Baked Ziti and I decided to go with the Carbonara, since it's rate to find that on a menu in Tulsa. We started with an order of nicely done bruschetta, and eagerly awaited our entrees, which arrived in a very reasonable time.
The Wife really enjoyed her Zito, commenting on the depth of flavor and the richness of the sauce. Her only criticism was the mushrooms, which she is not a fan of. Not a deal breaker, just not her thing.
My carbonara was well done, certainly one of the better ones I've had, with the only issue being the noticeable lack of black pepper common to the dish. The pancetta was abundant, the sauce very creamy and cheesy without the egg base getting clotted. Overall a really good effort.
Service was totally on point, food was as good as expected, if not better, and altogether made for a great date night.
We won't hesitate to return to Ti Amo's.
