"Tiberi Bar was born from the Tiberi Club, a popular organizer for creative events and pop-ups that fuse eating and art. Tucked away on a quiet street in Poble Sec, the minimalist, airy interior, with high ceilings and plenty of windows, is the perfect scene for a rotating roster of colorful sharing plates inspired by Catalan traditions and the flavors of the Mediterranean, paired with unique natural wines from small local producers. Duck terrine with pistachios, crunchy polenta with sage, smoked sardine with sour cream and whole grain mustard, and a pork confit sandwich with red cabbage play upon well-worn local staples with surprising flavors." - Sam Zucker

Tiberi is the spot that may tip it over the edge—or maybe it already has, judging by the fashionable, mulleted people hanging around the sidewalk while the low-level lighting and bottle-green marble bar beckon them inside like moths to orange wine. Working with mostly small local producers, from Penedès and Tarragona to slightly up the road in the south of France, Tiberi’s natural wine list is diverse enough to please both snobs and newbies. And with glasses starting from €5.50, there’s no reason not to get stuck here. The food is worth a trip in itself. Their take on the Gilda—with a cheese cube and radish added to the world’s best-known pickled anchovy skewer—has achieved legendary status. "They say ‘X’ marks the spot. In the case of Barcelona's Tiberi Bar, the gaggle of fashionistas in a somewhat dingy street at the back of Apolo nightclub tells us something is afoot. The interior is giving pared-back, post-industrial hip, with a side of cozy courtesy of the low-lit tables and striking green marble bar. With Catalonia making a name as one of the world’s leading natural wine-producing regions, it is no surprise that its capital is overrun with natural wine bars. Some are more deserving of your time than others. Tiberi definitely qualifies in the worthwhile category, not only because its list is huge and mostly local, but also because the staff won’t look down their nose at you if you’re into the natural philosophy but not here for the funk. Tiberi is fun but not rowdy, and equally suited to a quiet weekday dinner or the first stop on a night out.
