"Terrific Vegetarian Dishes Near the Opera House Tibits shows that this bratwurst-and-raclette loving city can do delicious seasonal vegetarian and vegan dishes well, and imaginatively, too. The enticing buffet includes creations like a melon-accented Thai tofu salad and tomato spelt risotto, served in a colorful, floral wallpaper-accented fast-casual setting."

Tibits Review - Mayfair - London - The Infatuation

"Tibits has an extremely strong M6 southbound service station energy about it, and we say that in the nicest possible way. That’s just the aesthetic that this vegetarian and vegan buffet restaurant gives off, but the food itself is very solid. Wander into this roomy spot on Heddon Street on any given day for lunch or dinner, and you’ll find it buzzing with people serving themselves lentil salads, mushroom pies, and slices of cheesecake. It’s priced by weight, and you can easily get a hefty plate of freshly made good stuff for £10-£15." - Jake Missing

Google
It was a very pleasant surprise to find the exclusive vegetarian restaurants like Tibits in Switzerland where most of the people eat non-veg. We were roaming around Lake Zurich and being vegetarians, we decided to have lunch over here. It was located in a lane just 2 minutes from lake. The buffet spread was very impressive. The variety could easily satisfy appetites of all kinds of people. We filled up our plates and paid by weight which is the custom here. Luckily it was not crowded and we easily got a table inside. The food was absolutely delicious. The decor was classy and ambiance very peaceful. The staff was very efficient and polite. Worth trying !!

Google
This was such an awesome meal. Every item was so tastefully made and as a vegetarian, i felt like i was trying new things altogether, with just how some of the dips and breaded items were made. Would love to return. Even my husband who eats meat really enjoyed it

Google
Cappuccino was absolutely 5 star! The croissant 🥐 a divine sensorial experience. Nice ambiance.. the waiter’s smile made it even better

Sofia Martinez

Google
I didn’t know it was vegetarian, until I started taking food … I tought I was going to regret it … but… no!! It was AMAZING! Everything was delicious !!! I would return again and again! And the price was fair!

Google
Tibits always serves delicious vegetarian and vegan food. The buffet offers a variety of items that change and some stay the same - like potatoes or samosas or fresh veggies. There's also a wide variety of fun sauces/dips. It's a great option because you can always pile your plate high or just get a taste of something. The price is by weight. They also offer really yummy desserts - also buffet style, though there are a few options by the slice. The people working here are really friendly. During lunch it can be very busy, but seats usually free up after a few minutes.

Google
The food is decent, but it's all vegetarian. Normally I would not say that as bad but it's pay by weight and 2 plates, 1 soda, 1 juice will cost you over 60 swiss franks. That's a lot for various vegs

Google
I recently visited tibits, a self-service restaurant that offers a unique dining experience. The concept is simple and convenient: you fill your plate with whatever you like from the variety of vegetarian dishes available, weigh it at the end, and pay based on the weight. The ambience was relaxed and inviting, perfect for a casual meal. While the taste of the food was generally excellent, there was a noticeable limitation in the variety of dishes offered. One particular letdown was the hibiscus iced tea. It looked appealing but unfortunately lacked flavor, tasting almost neutral, which was disappointing compared to the rest of the meal. Overall, tibits is a great spot for a quick, healthy meal with a focus on quality ingredients. Just don’t expect an extensive menu and maybe skip the hibiscus iced tea.

Google
It's almost always open, and the food is always hot and tasty. I think it's one of the classiest things about Zurich. You can get a nice vegetarian meal at any time in a casual setting for a good price. The best is the Mango Mousse!

Yelp
A self-service buffet where you pay by weight. Lots of choices, almost overwhelmingly so. Though ultimately no stand outs and seemed a bit overpriced for what it was. Vegan Buffet: Was the suggestion of co-workers, not my choice. Though I wanted to like this place since I do like the vegan agenda, but just couldn't get into it. And I did try a bunch of items to be fair. Nothing really stuck out to me. And a lot of the dishes tasted similar to each other. Also, my plate ran about 29 CHF which seems pretty pricey given that I could get about 3 sausages and tons of bread rolls from Sternen Grill not far away.

Yelp
The falafel was one of the best I've ever had but what really stood out was the friendliness of the staff. Great environment filled with great people, highly recommend.

Yelp
Fantastic breakfast buffet. Flavors were explosive and perfect. Who knew a vegan breakfast could be this good? Just add what you want to your plate. They weighed it, minus the bread, and it was delicious. Enjoy!

Yelp
I've already given a very positive review to the Tibits in London, and this one in Zurich is equally good. The usual Tibits pay-by-weight pricing means that this is among the best deals you can find in this expensive location. We stopped in for breakfast, and each plate came in under 10 CHF, plus a coffee at 4.30. Wide array of vegetarian and vegan choices, too many to list here. Additional plus is the outdoor seating. Very pleasant and helpful staff as well.

Yelp
cheaper than hiltl, but belongs to the same owner. The food is very good, you don't have the same choice than at Hiltl, but still good. Now during CORONA maybe less choice, but still ok.

Yelp
nice food and place. their buffet isn't very large. their Sandwiches are nice though!

Yelp
Loved this place! It's everything that I cook and eat in one place. Healthy and fresh. I like the buffet style layout and pay by weigh. Lets me get evverything =) Comes with complimentary piece of bread, and tap water if you want...not like some places where you have to order a bottle of water. Also has different juices, smoothies, wines, and ice creams. This will def be a regular place for me. Price is Switzerland prices, but I'd say fair for what it is...I just probably would limit to once a week instead of everyday ;)

Yelp
It was pretty okay. The restaurant looks nice and clean. Very modern. Great staff. High variety in dishes that u can pick. My friend who is lactose and gluten intolerant found a lot of stuff she could eat. The only thing I didnt like was that the food was partially dry and bland. Apart from that it's great.
google avatar

Anna G.

Yelp
Great vegetarian option for lunch. Lots of great options that mean you don't even miss the fact that there is no meat. An affordable and healthy option in Zurich.
google avatar

Kathy K.

Yelp
A really crowded restaurant but still homey. There was so many to choose from (curries, to salad, to pie). Both hot and cold dishes were excellent. Even the vegetarian tatar, which I was sceptical about at first but it turned out to be delicious. If you've been to Hiltl, I would reccomend trying Tibits out, as it's very similar but they only offer self serve (buffet style). I would describe myself as a meat person, but vegetarian food this good - my heart turns green.

Yelp
We were out with some friends near the lake of Zurich and we decided to go somewhere for a quick dinner at around 10 pm. Many restaurants in the area are closing this time, but fortunately Tibits was open, as it closes at 11:30 pm (that's great for Zurich!). Tibits is the younger, smaller, casual sibling of Hiltl, the well-known vegetarian restaurant in Zurich. It offers a vegeterian buffer which is limited compared to Hiltl, but still it's more that enough. None of us were vegeterian, but we really enjoyed the food. From the things that I tasted and I enjoyed I can remember guacamole, quinoa, fried jalapenos, rice croquettes. The desserts were also delicious, I enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding. We paid about 20-25 CHF per person. The place is highly recommended, I will definitely visit again!

Yelp
Oh man what a lifesaver this place its. Really really excellent, healthy, fresh food. If you absolutely want to pig out it can get a little pricey, but if you are generally freaked out by how expensive Switzerland is, this place is good if you don't want to spend too much money. Very conveniently located. Was three weeks in Küsnacht and either steamed at the airbnb or went to Tibits for dinner... no other restaurant necessary!! (o:

Yelp
This vegetarian place has a lot to offer. The variation is good. If you are in the mood to eat sallads or indian food you can find both here. The atmosphere is pleasant. The only thing I would like to add is the variation of sallads. Otherwise is the place pretty much perfect for a better lunch/brunch.
google avatar

Yelp
This was a vegetarians or vegans heaven. It is "buffet" style in the sense you have an immense variety of options, but you are charged based on the weight. Even then, I thought that for Switzerland, the prices were very fair (17-24CHF) for a good fill. The food was delicious and felt very healthy. The staff was also incredibly kind in helping a pair of Americans navigate the dinner process. Wish there were more places like this in the states!
google avatar

David I.

Yelp
Nice everyday vegetarian restaurant that is well suited for either a quick lunch/dinner or some take away. The buffet has a rather large variety of dishes. Despite going there regularly, I give it only a 3 stars (just like I did for his father Hilt - the oldest European vegetarian restaurant) as it is waaaaay over-priced!!! It does not have to be and I always feel ripped of every time I go there.
google avatar

Noel P.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this all vegetarian buffet. You make a plate first, then take it to the cash register where they weight it. You then pay and can add drinks if you want. Almost every food item is labeled - if you flip the cards over the English translation is available. Came out to about 20 a plate for my boyfriend and I, we liked everything we tried. Although there were less options than HILTL, we both enjoyed this place more. Definitely a spot to check out in Zurich if you're vegetarian.

Yelp
they served me oil cured olives with mold in them. that is a major health risk as oil cured foods can contain the botulism bacteria. i could die from this mistake

Yelp
Went to Zurich and Lucerne from May 31-June 8. Had dinner at Tibits every day and never got tired of their served meals. There are lots of choices. Charged by weight. Can have a very satisfied meals with s drink for around SF25. This is a must go restaurant. Love Tibits

Yelp
Being a vegetarian or vegan tourist in Switzerland can be tough, but thankfully Zurich has a few pure vegetarian restaurants. Tibits is one of them, run by the amazing vegetarian Hiltl family. This is Hiltl's more affordable restaurant, so your wallet won't be hit too hard. Like Hiltl, you are charged by the weight of the food you put on your plate. However, there is less selection than at Hiltl, since it is in a smaller location. Maybe it was my bad luck, but I found the vegetarian selections very bland the 2 days I went there in July 2012. I prefer my food with some spice. If you like spice and are super hungry, you might leave here hungry. The staff and patrons are really cool at Tibits, though. Lots of university students and hipsters. I went there for a 2nd time less for the food, and more for the atmosphere. It's not in a tourist trap like Hiltl is, so you can meet more Swiss locals here. When I go back to Zurich in the summer of 2013, I will check out their food selection again, just to see if they add some spicier selections.

Yelp
We liked Hiltl, so we stopped by Tibits a few weeks later. This is advertised as cheaper and smaller than the main Hiltl, but when you're comparing the vegetarian buffets --- it's almost in the noise. Were there fewer dishes? Probably. Was it cheaper? A few francs. Same size bill, but we got dessert this time. So basically --- I'd treat the vegetarian buffets as similar, and just choose based on what's closer when currylust strikes.

Yelp
Although I am not a vegetarian, I hardly eat meat and I love the nutritional benefits one can get from eating more vegetarian meals (other than pasta.) I have been here twice and have enjoyed it both times, how could you not?! You chose what you want and make your own plate hahaha. The first time I will admit, I was a bit scattered and ended up with mass amounts of salad and too many potato wedges that weren't even that good with the upside being a nice rösti and broccoli thing. The second time I was a bit wiser and had a nice salad and rösti and really good brown rice and a bunch of veggie stew-ish stuff I LOVE that the water is free (one of the only thing America has going for itself) and they give you a free bread and dessert options too. I am sure this will be a staple in my diet and I am excited to try Hiltl soon too :) Yayyy veggies!

Su S.

Yelp
Are you looking for interesting, good quality food? Tibits is my place to go if i want to be satisfied. They have a big buffet which contains food with a twist, and i am never disappointed by how it tastes. I wonder why i never wrote a review about this place...at leat i think i never did. (If i did write one, it must've been a long time ago.) I am not a vegetarian nor a big indian food lover, but their food is simply worth a try. Dont get me wrong, they have 'normal' food too, which doesnt contain any 'weird' spices, as i like to call them lol Their mango cream is absolutely delicious. I never leave this place without eating that. They also have a great green juice - which i also usually dislike. They make healthy food fun and i think this is what i love most about tibits. It is perfect for lunch, has lots of natural light and is an overall great experience. The staff is really nice, too. I always find a seat by the window when i come here on a saturday, so i totally recommend coming here if you find the time for it!:)

Yelp
I'm not a vegetarian, but I love that it's so green, I brought my meat-loving husband (c'mon, it's not so mean)... The buffet was stocked, so dish up your goodies, then pay by weight. On a Wednesday night, we found 2 seats without the slightest wait! Salad supplies and Indian dishes, they're sure to have something for you. And, oh yeah, it's healthy, so you can eat without feeling blue! They have drinks like beer and cocktails, which weren't too overpriced, and it's a little sister spot from Hiltl, which also is quite nice. We came from Stadelhofen, but it's also close to Bellvue- maybe next time I go to Tibits, I might run into you!
google avatar

Adrian H.

Yelp
Good, fresh food (all vegi) with some excellent juices and seasonal drinks. The salad buffet is a must and is generally leagues ahead of the sandwiches. Prices are a little on the high side, but then again you get what you pay for.

Yelp
Long live Tibits! It's a must-visit every time I'm fortunate enough to make it out to Switzerland. As a vegetarian, it's already hard enough to find a restaurant that I can eat multiple dishes at, so I'm always excited at finding one where the entire menu is open to me. Another caveat is that many vegetarian restaurants are run by alleged cults (Ching Hai, I'm looking at you), which I do my best to avoid because of the reputation of exploitation of their members, who are said to work as unpaid employees. Tibits is thankfully a fully vegetarian restaurant with no religious or exploitative agenda as far as I can tell. On top of it, it is consistently fresh and delicious, with a wide and varied ever-rotating selection of both mains and desserts. My meals at Tibits are by far the most healthy while traveling too - diverse and ample quantities of fruits and vegetables prepared with healthy spices. For mains, the samosas, gratin, and seaweed salad noodles are amazing. For dessert, nothing can beat the chocolate mousse, which is both not too heavy/rich and not too sweet. If there were a Tibits near my house, I'd be at it every day, and very broke but very happy too. :)

Yelp
Very good, very fresh food. Easy to order even if you don't speak the language, because you can point. :) And then pay at the register. They all also spoke english. The mushroom sandwich and ginger/curry soup were both very good.
google avatar

I-Lin L.

Yelp
The sister store of Hiltl. It's smaller than Hiltl with a smaller selection of food, so I don't like it as much. But the location is along trendy Seefeld, and I see lots of people eating brunch here, so I guess it's still a really popular option for vegetarians to eat at in Zürich.
google avatar

Yohini S.

Yelp
A very casual and yet classy vegetarian restaurant with a big buffet. This was my first experience at a vegetarian restaurant that served more than just Indian/South Asian food. It is a very casual dining experience as you basically find a place to sit and go use the buffet. We did not have to wait at all on a Wednesday night but the place was busy. We loved what we got. A bunch of salads, hummus, a few appetizers (fried okra, falafel etc.) and some curry. I ended up filling my plate close to 0.5kg, which costed close 20 Francs. Everything was really healthy and delicious. Prices were expensive but it is Zurich! Overall, I loved the taste and quality of my meal. Just a note, don't expect service too much. It is more of a self-serve place. Note - Water and bread is free, I hear.
google avatar

Elisa B.

Yelp
Tibits is always good for a nice vegetarian meal, especially if you have been running around and missed the more traditional lunch break. In fact, coming before or after meal times is best, as it won't be as packed. It's buffet only, no menu; however the buffet does include a nice selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes, both warm and cold. There are also a few desserts, several types of bread (including gluten-free) and at the bar you can order a sandwich, baked goods and a wide variety of drinks, including the popular fresh juices (also available as Hiltl) and my personal favorite, the homemade ice teas. It's a nice spot for a coffee with a friend, and it's ok to bring kids here because there is a cute little area where they can play and draw. The staff is always friendly and polite, the place is always immaculate despite the high traffic and the location is perfect for a casual date followed by a walk on the lake, or by a movie, or for a post-shopping coffee break. I took one star off because I would like to see more raw options in the buffet, particularly ones that do not include heavy sauces and such; however it fully deserves 4 stars in my book!
google avatar

Sofia B.

Yelp
After I left the Zurich Airport, this was the very first place I ate at in Zurich. It was lovely. Everything at tibits is freshly prepared and not too heavy on the stomach. I got the pasta salad and guac - a surprisingly good combination. Plates here can range from 15 to 20 CHF, which is a good deal for Zurich.
google avatar

Kimberly C.

Yelp
Yum! A vegetarian buffet style restaurant with a weigh-and-pay system. There's a large selection of pan-ethnic foods with some vegan and gluten free options. They also have fresh juices, but were out of what I wanted. I tried a friend's mango lassi, and it was quite tasty! I would definitely go back.
google avatar

Luna R.

Yelp
I've been to Tibits about 3 times and every time I leave not so satisfied with the flavors and this sense of just paying way too much. I understand why this place is so popular and I am always happy to see a Vegetarian/ Vegan restaurant in the area but a very few things taste flavorful. My old housemate that worked there confirmed that hardly anything is freshly made in their kitchen, so essentially its like a tuck shop... and then you pay.. i mean the price you pay for what you get is really too high, I feel slightly ripped off. For a plate of 0.640 kg I paid CHF26.90 and the plate didn't have very much on it ( sorry forgot to take a picture) For 2 people you can easily pay CHF 55 ( and my friend eats like a bird!) . If it didn't cost so much then there would be not much to complain about but because its expensive you just don't feel like you're getting your moneys worth.
google avatar

Johan R.

Yelp
When the same old just won't cut it anymore, or if your a tourist looking for a change from the traditional, hope in here. You can bring kids, it's casual, and friendly. The communal tables make it pretty laid-back and chill, if a bit noisy. The food is an awesome mix of Indian and fresh salads, breads, fruits, and vegetarian favourites. I highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Sukalp M.

Yelp
Tibits - the smaller and cheaper cousin of Hiltl is just as good as expected based on its pedigree. The food is excellent, as is the mango lassi. Although to the best of my knowledge they do not offer a la carte service, the buffet offers a wide variety of food. Try the jalapeno poppers, they are delicious!
google avatar

Mihir M.

Yelp
Tibits is the more casual restaurant of the Haus Hiltl group. It is more casual, self service, with food charged by weight. Seating was challenging as the restaurant is relatively small. The food variety & quality was very good, as was the service.

Andreea P.

Yelp
In a place like the Deutschschweiz, where: 1. many restaurants don't even bother having any vegi dish on the menu; 2. if they do have any, they are sorry excuses for food; so, in such a place like the Deutschschweiz, it would be really easy for even a mediocre vegi restaurant to enjoy success. Tibits has steered clear away from mediocrity. The food they serve is very good and not in the least boring (a common sin of vegi dishes here)! There is plenty of choice, so that it's almost impossible to not find at least 2-3 things you like. Yes, the restaurant is informal and finding seating is not the easiest task. But, for those who prefer more "fancy" dining, there's Hiltl in the same food spirit. Also, the prices are rather decent! For 30 CHF, you get about 1kg of food, something that even the hungriest wolves will have trouble finishing :)
google avatar

Sumeet D.

Yelp
Tad bit expensive , 23 Chf for 0.55 kg of food. Having said that, the food is delicious and if highly recommend this place if you're a vegetarian.
google avatar

Manasvi S.

Yelp
This is a vegetarian eaters paradise! We tried both a lunch as well as a breakfast here. They have a buffet style offering where you can try a bunch of different dishes and then pay by weight. Their items also include desserts. We loved the mango mousse was definitely one our of favorites. Their breakfast selection was very similar to the dinner menu except that they also had some flavored yogurt, croissants and pancakes.
google avatar

Kellie J.

Yelp
casual small amazing selection great location, just like its sister restaurant hiltl just much smaller. Best place for a healthy lunch in a town for meat and more meat
google avatar

Natalie H.

Yelp
6 months after our first visit here, me and my boyfriend still rave about this place and their delightful brunch buffet. Since we only spoke English, we didn't even realize this place was vegetarian, and the food was so good, that we didn't even notice the lack of meat. The Chai mousse in particular was heavenly. This is a must stop for anyone visiting Zurich!
google avatar

Miranda K. D.

Yelp
I like to think of eating here is a healthy fast food choice. If it's not please don't enlighten me ;) I love the cream cheese filled jalapeño poppers (healthy..) and everything Asian especially Indian. It is one of the few places that orchestrate the use of spices in an authentic manner.
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
If I had a chance to redesign the human race, I'd probably make us all carnivores. But the part of me that enjoys vegetables and pretending to be healthy likes this place a lot. It's a veggie buffet with plenty of options (including fried stuff, in case this is all too healthy for you), and you weigh and pay at the end. It can get pretty crowded, even on a weekday, and finding seating was a bit of a struggle. But the food I tried was tasty, the ginger beer was good, and next time, I'll have to save some room for dessert! (Actually, that would require getting dessert to begin with. Hmm...)
google avatar

Linda S.

Yelp
What a wonderful place! I could have eaten there daily while in Zurich!! Fantastic!!!
google avatar

Dennis C.

Yelp
Pricey but great choice of foods and fresh! The restaurant is first come first serve and buffet style. They weigh your plates to charge. Enjoy

Paddy N.

Yelp
Tasty food and reasonable selection. The staff here speak English and they are very helpful! You pay by weight, so it tends to get quite expensive.
google avatar

Ruth H.

Yelp
Great place. We come here twice a week. Food is just great. Prices are a bit high but it worth it
google avatar

Katie A.

Yelp
INCREDIBLE! I am traveling Europe and was thrilled to find a healthy, convenient option. I loved everything I got there and everyone was very kind! I wish they had these in more cities in Europe :) highly, highly recommend this place
google avatar

Ben K.

Yelp
Slightly cheaper version of Hiltl with a smaller selection of food. But bread is free :) Obviously great place if you're a vegisaurus in the land of sausage and beef.

Caroline M.

Yelp
Amazing environment, excellent food, fair prices!
