Where to Eat Near the Washington State Convention Center In Seattle - Eater Seattle

"In the ground floor of the Hyatt at Olive 8, ultra-chill farm-to-table bistro Urbane joins with local growers, ranches, breweries, and wineries to focus on hyper-seasonal ingredients. As a result, Chef Brian Pusztai’s menus change continually. The fish, whatever it happens to be, is your best bet, especially if it’s wild salmon or cod, and the local charcuterie and cheese plates, decorated with all sorts of fun little embellishments, are always inspired." - Meg van Huygen

Hearty portions, lots of options, great service, good value for downtown. The breakfast potatoes are baked, smashed and seasoned 😋 Too many to eat alongside a large omelette. Oatmeal was delicious. Added fresh fruit instead of brown sugar and the raspberries were the size of strawberries! Definitely recommend for breakfast.

I’ve never had Fish and Chips before, but I’m glad the waiter recommended it because it turned out to be pretty fresh and crispy. I do think it is a bit too heavy. The oysters were amazing!!!

Google
Extremely disappointed with our experience here. The chowder was practically unrecognizable—so watered down and drenched in olive oil that it was downright unappetizing. The fish and chips were equally underwhelming—completely bland with a strange, bitter aftertaste. To top it off, my friend couldn’t even finish half of her burger because it was just that bad. For the price, we expected much better quality. Definitely won’t be coming back. With all of the better options around, go ANYWHERE else but here.

If you’re staying in downtown and look for a quick meal, this is a quiet place right in front of Hyatt. The food is not overpriced and meets the standards. The staff is friendly

Google
Solid place to get seafood at the Hyatt. It’s definitely pricey but that is to be expected for a restaurant in the Hyatt. The food is good, but there’s nothing special about the food so it’s the biggest selling point is that it’s in the Hyatt. The oysters were fresh and I liked the lemon slices. The vinaigrette that came with the oysters was surpassingly good, even though I usually don’t like vinegar. I do wish there was some salt on the table so I could’ve added some salt. But overall the oysters were good. We also go the chowder, which was good but a bit overly salty. The service is good. We got seated quickly, the food came promptly, and we got the check promptly. I appreciated how they made sure to clean our tables pretty much as soon as we finished a dish. The inside is well decorated. It feels modern with the blue lighting. They have table and bar seating.

Google
Great food, cool ambiance and an excellent happy hour menu. I had the Tidal+ Wagyu Burger and it had an outstanding flavor. It was extremely juicy. I had the Oysters of the Day, and they set the bar very high. The Seafood Chowder and Band Bang Shrimp were both great!!! Highly recommend. It is diagonally across from the Hyatt Regency in Seattle.

Google
Next to the hotel, so we gave it a try. Clam chowder was delicious. Fish & chips were good as well. My wife got the Ceasar salad & chowder as well. She loved it too.

Gabbie Kim

Google
The brussels sprouts were enjoyable, while the halibut was just okay. The atmosphere felt a bit dated, with furniture that could use an update. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired—servers took a long time to approach the table, take our orders, and deliver the food. Overall, the food was decent, but it fell short of being exceptional.

Yelp
First appearance: nice location and design Food: came in for breakfast and specifically the French toast. Chef's kiss. it did not disappoint! I recommend everyone order this item when here, I just pray the cook remains and doesn't experiment with the dish. It's perfect the way it is. I also tried the breakfast sandwich. It was good as well. Side of Chicken sausage lacked depth and side of eggs needed love; plus they need new table side salt shaker. The salt shaker was the biggest disappointment ! All in all. Hotel restaurant service was standard despite only with 6 tables occupied.

Yelp
I will like to upgrade this to 4. It appears to have stabilized from COVID. At the end, I don't have sufficient data point yet. Came for the happy hours, now that it opens every day. Drinks were slightly cheaper and waiting very polite and prompt. We order small dishes and they were good: chowder came with a splash of olive oil and "bang bang shrimps" felt like a bit too "ready to eat from package". They were "not bad". If you stay in the hotel and it was a long day, I will recommend it. If you have more energy, they got competitions.

Yelp
Tidal+ is the main sit-down restaurant in Hyatt Olive 8. Its a seafood place for lunch and dinner, but for mornings its traditional American breakfast. We came here for breakfast for two days and the selections were decent. The used local ingredients lime Ellenos Yogurt and Beecher's for the cheese in omelets. Blackberry pancakes were fluffy and large, and I like the variety of condiments. The Granola is good too with good balance of fresh fruit and yogurt. The coffee is pricy at $5/cup but I enjoyed the strong, bold flavors. Unfortunately, they don't offer peanut butter as an option for toast.

Yelp
I came here for breakfast on a Saturday and was seated right away with no reservation. It's a big open space with nice decor. The servers were friendly and I got my food pretty quickly. I got the breakfast sandwich and really liked it. The only thing was that they didn't come check on how my food was until I was pretty much done.

Yelp
We had a really good experience with the happy hour here recently. We were looking for a light dinner and drinks before a movie and this was the perfect spot for that. The server was very attentive and super helpful with working with me for dairy free options on the food. The food was great and so were the drinks. The ambiance felt classy but still relaxed. Would definitely recommend or return.

Yelp
Meh, functional hotel restaurant food. Good, friendly service and convenient for hotel guests but expect hotel pricing. Entrees were just ok and strangely doesn't include sides normally. It's decorated with an ocean tidal theme.

Yelp
Incredible seafood restaurant offering local fish and shellfish in a very stylish and beautiful restaurant! Highly recommend and the local halibut was to die for!

Yelp
So I stayed at the Hyatt at Olive 8. So I decided to eat at the fancy restaurant downstairs. So I got the fish and chips. The fish was delicious but the fries were very salty. Thank God for ketchup to temper the salt. It was great that they delivered to the room also. I would eat there again but I would try something else to get a better idea of the food.

Matt A.

Yelp
It was our first time at Tidal+, everyone was friendly and helpful. We ordered fish & chips, steak tacos, and clam chowder. Not sure which order, aside from the fish and chips, comes with a side of fries but we were given one anyway. Music was nice, the place is right by a pretty busy bus stop, and I did not hear any busses. Steak Tacos - 2/5 Comes with two steak tacos, topped with red pickle and I think it was guac? I ate that first, I the steak was okay, corn tortillas were not very hot, guac was hidden on the bottom and flavorless. Served with a side of sweet salsa (not even close to hot) and ketchup??? My wife did not like her taco. Fish and Chips - 1.5/5 The rockfish was good at first, then we noticed the bones... a lot of bones. The tartar sauce was really good, but we could taste the age of oil, and the fish became very fishy tasting over the course of the meal. Good chips, until they too cooled down and we tasted the oil. I did not finish it. Clam Chowder - 2/5 Not great, probably mid to low tier. My wife is a celiac, and we are very careful to explain her needs and restrictions. The server was very receptive and took care of us. GF items are clearly labeled, it's unlikely that you'll get glutened here. You might feel sick for other reasons... we did. The manager (I think) was helpful and attentive, they removed the fish and chips from our bill.

Yelp
We were staying at the Hyatt at Oliver 8, and Tidal+ is the restaurant/bar inside of the hotel. We did happy hour and picked a few things of the menu to try as well as drinks. The oysters were high quality and I would recommend them, especially at the happy hour price which they are a little cheaper as well. The fries and the spinach dip were also good. I was less impressed by the drinks but would definitely recommend the food. Our server was okay but we did have to flag her down to get the check since they seemed to be pretty busy. As a side note, we were told we would have a credit and so we went here each night but it turned out that the conference block had waived the credit that most guests get here. Although it wasn't the restaurant's fault, it was frustrating that there was no way for them to check that or for us to know that we didn't have the credit when we charged the items to our room. I wish that Tidal+ had a way to verify hotel credit (or lack thereof).

Yelp
Tidal+ has an amazing happy hour selection. The cocktails are $10, oysters of the day are $2 each, and they have quite an extensive list of other options available. The restaurant itself is located in the Hyatt Olive 8 hotel. It has its own entrance off the street or you can enter through the hotel lobby. I love the open and clean decor. The staff is friendly and we were greeted and seated right away. My group tried a bunch of dishes, and my personal fave was the scallop entree. The scallops were soft and cooked perfectly, and whatever green sauce was on top of the scallops added great flavor. The fish and chips were also a hit among the group!

Yelp
This was crowded - it took me almost an hour to get a seat for one, at around 7 PM on a Wednesday. Had a Sandgrass cocktail, which was sweet and flavorful with a sprig a rosemary. Had a cup of seafood chowder and the fish and chips. The seafood chowder was very flavorful. The fish was flavorful, a long filet; it satisfied my hunger
google avatar

Yelp
We got the fish and chips, the beet salad and the chowder. Thier menu has food allergies clearly marked. I am gluten free, my husband is not. The fish and chips were great. The chowder was also really good. The salad was good, the beets were more shredded which Im not a huge fan of but the flavors were good.
google avatar

Yelp
Tidal review Food I was impressed by the amount of gluten free options and the dishes all seemed well curated. I had the gluten free fish and chips. There was great flavor in the tartar sauce which seemed to be in-house. The fish was crispy and cooked to perfection. I was a bit disappointed with the bottom of the fish seemed mushy. I couldn't tell if it was from the condensation from steam of being plated while hot or if it was from the grease. It was served on a wood block. Additionally, the fries were delicious-- crispy and flavorful. Service Not the servers fault but our party had gotten a mix up on their order which took about 20 minutes to correct. She offered my friend a complimentary dessert for the inconvenience, which was kind, but I felt should have been another form of complimentary gesture since he basically had to eat his meal alone because we pretty much finished ours by the time his arrived. Our server was pleasant and tried their best to communicate over the noise in the restaurant. As we arrived, our server preemptively apologized for the loud volume of the restaurant, noting the "terrible acoustics" of the restaurant. She wasn't lying. There was a large group about 15 feet from us and we had to shout amongst our group to hold a conversation. Even when the group dispersed, there was still a loudness to the restaurant that just hummed above normal volume. I wouldn't recommend going here for an intimate evening or during busy hours if you want to have a conversation. Aesthetics Beautiful light fixtures, wood and white quartz throughout the restaurant with elegant table center pieces. Very comfortable furniture and a lot of windows but it's on a busy street so be mindful that there's a lot of traffic and foot traffic so this can take a way from an intimate evening because it's so distracting. Overall, I recommend this establishment for the food. Maybe more appropriate for a business related evening than an intimate gathering.

Yelp
The food wasn't good. The service was ok and the place is great to sit and people watch. We asked if the chicken sandwich was breast and our server said yes. My wife did not agree that it was chicken breast. She was very disappointed with the dark meat. I had the fish and chips and I could barely finish one piece. It was overly breaded and the tarter tasted like it had too much lemon in it maybe? Super tart which I thought was odd for tarter. Both of our stomaches were in knots for the rest of the evening.

Yelp
I stayed at Hyatt at Olive 8. They offered a lovely perk of $15 a day to hotel guests. Modern restaurant with oyster shucked in the center. We stopped in for happy hour daily while there. Easily the best value and most flavor would be the daily oysters for $2 each. We also tried the ceviche, seafood chowder, spinach artichoke dip, but these items lacked flavor and had temperature issues. Overall if you're in the area and like oysters I would highly recommend the happy hour.
google avatar

Alice X.

Yelp
Great place for happy hour oysters! They have a nice spread of happy hour food and drinks on their menu.

Larry H.

Yelp
Two for dinner - one ordered shrimp skewers and the other a smash burger and fries. The fries were outstanding and the shrimp was excellent. The smash burger was good but not great. The service was good.

Lauren B.

Yelp
Went with a group so maybe the service was off because of that! Everyone's food came out in waves and we're at least 10 minutes apart so it made it kind of awkward. Spinach dip, oysters, and fish and chips were all delicious! Cesar salad had no flavor and the bang bang shrimp was more just plain shrimp tempura. Not bad just not what was expected.

Yelp
I wanted to be close to where I was staying in Seattle the other day. This Tidal caught on my eyes. I just wanted something fresh seafood and soup. I did not want the heavy dinner meal. This restaurant has what I was looking for. The seafood soups was delicious. The oysters were so fresh. I wish I could have more. The scallops carpaccio was May be my least favorite. I would like to see this dish with soy sauce instead. The server was very attentive. I enjoyed my food and the service.

Yelp
We stayed at the Hyatt at Olive 8 and we got a daily $15 to spend at Tidal + not to mention the fact that they have $2 oysters during their Happy Hour. One thing that is confusing is that on all of the advertisements within the hotel it said Happy Hour is 3-5pm but according to them it was 4-5:30. My husband and I went on Monday evening shortly after 4pm. We were set next to the window behind the bar. It was a chill and even slightly romantic environment with a darkened room and a candle on the table. We ordered 12 raw oysters (Kusshi), an order of the seafood chowder, and the sourdough potato loaf plate. The oysters were served with a mignonette with apple chunks which added a nice refreshing and "Washington" touch to the oysters. They were shucked and very clean, although we almost missed a little of the sea salt water taste that we often get. The bread plate came with a giant sourdough loaf sliced into 4 large slices on a wooden serving platter. Next to it was a large scoop of a chive butter and a decent hunk of honeycomb, as well as some smoke sea salt chunks. The sea salt was definitely salty! The honeycomb was overwhelmingly sweet but then grew on us. We actually ended up enjoying mixing the honeycomb/honey with the chive butter. The seafood chowder was very hot but felt good compared to the cold weather outside. It was packed with clams, fish, shrimp, potato, bacon, and was a flavorful creamy thickness with each spoonful. We left full and happy. It was a nice quick filler after a long day.

Yelp
Located right across from our hotel, the Hyatt; which made our first dinner in town super convenient as we tried to settle in. We had to order the oysters, bc why not? They were tasty. I also ordered the Squid Ink pasta. Also really great. All in all a pretty good experience.

Yelp
We visited Tidal+ twice during our stay. The first was after check-in. We had a long day of travel delays and did not want to venture far for dinner. We were promptly seated and the wait staff helped orient us to the menu selections. Our drinks arrived quickly and were delicious. We enjoyed the fried Brussels sprouts, more than expected! (And enjoyed all of our food selections.) I was very pleased to find a great place to eat right in the lobby of our hotel! On the last night of our stay, we met a friend for drinks before dinner. Again, wait staff attended to our needs, promptly brought drinks and refills, and gave advice on appetizer choices.

Yelp
Just had the BEST burger I've ever had in my life, and I've had plenty. The burger was moist and so flavorful. From the first bite I was a goner. I'm very picky about hamburgers and believe me if we were in town for another day I would go back and do it all over again. My husband had the Bang Bang shrimp and they were excellent also. The service was great. A big thank you to Marty our lovely server. Don't walk past this jewel.
google avatar

Lisa R.

Yelp
Have a great Happy Hour menu with many seafood options and Carlo pouring the drinks is very knowledgeable and super friendly! Will be back!
google avatar

May S.

Yelp
Good ambiance and good service. But if you want to pay $40 for a plate of scallops with some puree on the plate and three tiny carrots maybe this is the place for you. The food was salty and portions are small. I guess don't come hungry.
google avatar

Phil E.

Yelp
Way better than a hotel restaurant needs to be, the oysters, burger, and fries were especially good.
google avatar

Yelp
We stayed at the Hyatt that is attached to the restaurant so we had 2 meals there. Dinner was good as far as the quality of the food went. I had the grilled salmon and my husband had the grilled halibut. It came with a bitter sauce and we both appreciated the server suggesting that we get the sauce on the side because it was rich. The restaurant is obviously understaffed and service was very slow. Cocktails tools more than 20 minutes alone. We had to return for breakfast (captive audience). There was no hostess and 2 servers and a runner. The server that dealt with our request for a table in a half empty restaurant told us it would be more than 15 minutes, and no, we couldn't sit at the bar. Borderline rude. We ordered immediately after being seated. Got one cup of coffee with no follow up. Food came after half an hour and it had obviously been sitting a long time (cold) while the runner took his break. We were watching the 2 servers stand around in the meantime and they were not bustling around trying to care for the 5 tables each that they had. The cream spilled when the food came. We put our napkins on it and that was the extent of cleanup. They missed part of our order. The runner was hustling but not the servers. They didn't care. Hostess arrived and she took charge. Really a bad experience that didn't need to happen. We only went to breakfast after the poor dinner experience because our breakfast was comped as part of our stay. It wasn't worth it.

Yelp
Great ambiance! Food was delicious! We wan We had the oysters, the seafood chowder, bread service, artichoke dip Later we also ordered a salad with salmon. I was disappointing in the size of the salmon for the price totaling $36 for one salad with what I would guess was a quarter of a pound of salmonella.....but it was delicious.
google avatar

Ric T.

Yelp
The ceviche was to die for but the chips that accompanied it were meh. The highlight was the Seafood Chowder. That was the best I've had. Nice decor, April was our friendly server. Sub staff very attentive. Clean place in center city.

Yelp
My wife and I happened across this place on our honeymoon and met Alex the bartender. He crafted us custom cocktails for our special occasion, and learned what we like and dislike. They were amazing, and we loved it. We now make a special trip every other anniversary to see if Alex is still at Tidal, or if he's been poached or opened up his own place. He's incredibly skilled, and we look forward to next time!

Yelp
I would not get breakfast takeout if staying at Hyatt Olive 8. I stayed at hotel with my 3 kids and husband. We ordered 2 pancake breakfasts, French toast and bagel and cream cheese. I waited in restaurant for food to be ready. By the time I reached my hotel room the pancakes and French toast were cold, and overcooked. Not sure if they forgot about me while I was waiting and it sat in window for a while. But I was right there when they brought it out to me and took it straight to hotel room. The waitress was really nice, but maybe she just forgot about the food in window, or the cooks gave us old food since it was around closing time for breakfast. Anyway, my kids would not eat the pancakes as they were inedible. My husband did eat French toast. He said it was okay even though cold. The only thing that was good was the bagel and cream cheese. But for over $20 a plate I was hoping for something better. I tried to reach out to restaurant to return or receive refund, but they were closed so I left a message. They never did call me back. Not sure how this restaurant is if not getting take out, but that is my experience. After the failed breakfast, we went to Starbucks as my kids were still hungry.

Yelp
Stunning restaurant beautiful chandeliers , the most friendly staff there is. Oysters were so incredibly fresh. The ancho granita was Smokey with the tart apple was just so amazing. My daughter loved the briney fresh oysters. Duo ceviche we order with just tortilla chips by recommendation of the front desk concierge made fresh to order by the chef. Who was so friendly and explained the flavor profile of the oysters. And what everything was inside the ceviche. Entree was cooked beautifully steak with miso butter sauce and the smoked scallops. Halibut sauce was so yummy wish there was just more clams in it Dessert we sent back as had no kirch flavor, and the espresso martini was not good at all hence the 4 stars and not five. I'd save the calories and get dessert somewhere else.

Yelp
Beat happy hour! And best server! 10/10. I really loved this place the prices were great. And the atmosphere was sophisticated.

Yelp
Awesome find! And pleasantly surprised to find such quality restaurant in a Hotel The restaurant is inside the Hyatt at Olive & Eight, and has a very nice ambiance. Oysters on the half shell were fresh and delicious. Everything was excellent...so much so we went back a second night!! Mixology at the bar is FANTASTIC Food is fresh, creative and delicious... Service excellent Thanks Dillon & Alex for enjoyable dining experience and mixology!! Highly recommend and can't wait to return.

Yelp
[Background: had dinner on a Saturday at about 6 pm] Overall a 3 1/2 star restaurant with strengths on the fresh side (ie shucked oysters, poke). The cooked seafood specifically the halibut or "chips" wasn't over/ under-cooked. Now it's accompanying veggies, fries, or sautéed onions all could be better. The service was exceptional always checking if we needed anything. In terms of the ambiance - a lot of spacious seating & elbow room. Lighting & music permits an intimate setting.
google avatar

Penelope A.

Yelp
Variety of meals to choose from. Nice ambiance. Not much of a view though (the streets of downtown Seattle.)

Nicole T.

Yelp
Excellent brunch! The French toast and pancakes were awesome. Service was very slow despite only having 4 tables filled in the restaurant.

Yelp
great meal! served a large party and all the food came out hot and uniquely flavored.

Yelp
excellent happy hour, oysters were exceptional. Tina was our server and read our minds perfectly

Yelp
Brunch at Tidal+ located in the Hyatt Olive 8 was exactly what we needed after a long morning of traveling! Our server Shaun was a great help and so personable. She had us laughing and had great recommendations. And the restaurant itself was beautiful & clean! We will definitely be coming back for happy hour tonight after such a lovely brunch today. What a wonderful experience!

Gwyneth M.

Yelp
Delicious huevos rancheros and fresh orange juice! Our server was really helpful with recommendations and considerate of allergies and food restrictions.
google avatar

Peggy B.

Yelp
Food was OK. Portions were small for the price. A little strange pairings. For example, crusty sourdough/potato bread (stale) with chive butter and honey? How does that pair. The big annoyance was the 18% automatic gratuity. We were 2 people. Gratuity is 'based on service'. If it's automatic then just raise your prices to pay your employees a fair wage. The result of an imposed gratuity of 18% is our waitress didn't get the normal 20-25% gratuity that we normally leave. We left it at 18%. Had we seen that on the menu before ordering we would have left. Lesson learned.
google avatar

Angie T.

Yelp
This restaurant is not worth the price when there are so many other options available in Seattle! Went for happy hour/dinner before a concert at the Paramount. Two of us ordered dirty vodka martinis and I don't know what was delivered but it was no martini (for $20). The bartender begrudgingly made new ones that were actually done correctly but the manager had the nerve to tell us that we were wrong and the original ones were done correctly and that maybe it was just too much olive juice when they tasted like it was just vermouth and no vodka. The shrimp cocktail was weird - shrimp cooked well but the cocktail sauce was more like watered down marinara. I also ordered the baby kale salad which was delicious. $70 later not impressed by any of it. One and done.

Sun ..

Yelp
Food was decent although I felt the portions are somewhat small for the price. Vibes were ok

Yelp
We came here for an early dinner. It's right across from our hotel at the Olive 8. We had a reservation and were promptly seated. The table we were taken to was really small. Since the restaurant was pretty empty we asked if we could get a larger table; the host was very kind in accommodating us. We brought a special bottle of wine from home (corkage: $25) and our server, Stephanie, immediately put it in a bucket of ice table side. Stephanie provided 5-star service throughout our meal. We also really enjoyed chatting with her. We started with oysters and two different glasses of sparkling wines. The oysters were perfect; we were in bliss. When topping with the blueberry ancho granita sauce, they matched perfectly with the Stoller Family Estate Pinot Noir Rose. I highly recommend this pairing! For entrees we had the King Salmon and the Alaskan Halibut. The Alaskan Halibut had a tasty lemon dill butter sauce plus clams and asparagus. The clams and asparagus were really fresh. The asparagus was the most flavorful I've ever tasted. Unfortunately my husband had to send back the halibut due to it being very overcooked; to the point that the texture was really tough. The staff was very accommodating. It did throw off our experience a bit as I was finishing my meal when he was beginning his. The second halibut was cooked perfectly. It was very flaky and my husband really enjoyed it. My salmon was dry, as was the jasmine rice. The long beans were really fresh and delicious. From talking to one of the staff it sounds like they get their produce from the Pike Market. The vegetables really stand out here. We finished with the Salted Caramel Hazelnut Mousse. This again was a mix of great and not so great. The chocolate crust was stale, hard, and didn't taste very good but the top part of the dessert was fantastic! The flavors were perfect with our older chardonnay, which also had notes of hazelnut. Even with the unevenness of the meal, we still thoroughly enjoyed our early evening. The staff here are so nice and we felt very comfortable and welcomed.

Steve M.

Yelp
Our bartender Carlo took great care of us, he made very possibly the best vesper martini I've ever had and honestly I'm an enthusiast. Sure, it's a hotel bar. Take my advice and enjoy this excellence.

Yelp
5-star seafood experience in June 2024! Lobster starter from the raw bar bloomed with truffle magnificence and followed with a spectacular fresh garnish that blended exceptionally. Entree of scallops was phenomenal as they delivered four perfectly prepared servings with an incredible base of vivid purses and fresh vegetables. Marty was an outstanding server and June, the General Manager, took time to connect and share her vision for this spectacular dining venue. All within the inspiring, scintillating ambience of the Olive 8 Hyatt property! Eager to return in July for an encore.
