What a great addition to the valley is the Tieton Cider Works. Quality Place serving up some delicious and unique ciders all with the help of local produce.
The Tasting Room is quite lovely with plenty of seating for relaxing as well as some outdoor seating when the weather gets nice. A flight of ciders, which includes everything on top and perhaps a taste of one of the nicer offerings, is $5 or free if you buy something. The glassware here is lovely and is available for purchase!
They have six or seven different standard cider offerings as well as an iced wine type cider which is a little bit sweeter and one that incorporates an apple Brandy into it. Each different offering was unique in its bouquet, taste and finish. The apricot and pear ciders were excellent. The apricot was very light as was the pair, which resembled almost a champagne or Prosecco. The cranberry cider was divine and the dry hopped cider was really unlike anything we've had before. Get Incorporated the floral offerings of the cops, without the bitterness that tends to accompany them. It's definitely worth a try.
Our favorites ended up being the Tieton Frost cider and the Tieton wind. The frost is a higher alcohol cider that resembled an ice wine, sweet in taste and just a little bit heavier. It was really good. The wind was spectacular. It was a cider blended with an apple Brandy. The flavor was very good and it provided the warmth of a brandy without the bite that generally accompanies the beverage. It's really nice and something we're looking forward to continuing to try.
The only knock against this place is the location. It's in a little bit rougher part of town and unfortunately is surrounded by high chain-link fence with razor wire on top. Certainly not a dangerous place during the day, but at night time it's not the sort of spot that you would wander around outside the fences. It looks like the reason they chose this spot was because they're able to have their production facilities at the same site, so it makes sense why they did what they're doing. He doesn't seem to have been detrimental to the business at this point and as long as they're around, will continue to support it!
After being away for a decade, it's nice to see these sorts of places popping up. This is one of a number of great additions to the area and one that we're excited to continue to get to know!
