Dallas Restaurant Openings to Know in February 2025 | Eater Dallas

"The first restaurant for Ty and Hiroko Wada, according to CultureMap Dallas, offering a ramen-focused menu that includes a spicy miso (described as a chicken tonkotsu spicy broth with house-blended miso, topped with spicy ground pork, nitamago, bean sprouts, and corn) and a niboshi (a clear chicken broth topped with umami sardine oil and pork chashu, nitamago, scallion menma, and seaweed). The menu also features karagge (Japanese fried chicken), yuzu french fries, a vegetable croquette topped with tonkatsu sauce, and more." - Courtney E. Smith

Google
Delicious little ramen spot at the edge of McKinney. The portions for their ramen & curry are perfectly sized for one person; no worries at all about overeating or dealing with leftovers. Their focus is clearly on quality over quantity—when I saw the flavorings/toppings on the menu for their onigiri and handrolls, I could clearly taste each one with every bite. Strongly recommend for smaller parties of 4 people and under. My waitress was very attentive, and I loved seeing as the cooks assembled the food in front of you next to the counter seating. Overall, a neat, new, and cozy atmosphere for a ramen shop.

Google
Great food and great service. Jenifer was our server and she did a great job. Also Hiroku helped and had great service. If you help them out and post on social media they give you $3 off next time you come in. Very smart move.

Another great meal. I had the Mazemen, non-soup and spicy mixed noodle. It was delicious. I noticed new menu items, including vegetarian options. — Visited during the soft opening and tried one of the most delicious Chicken Paitan ramen (Chicken Tonkotsu) I’ve had. The broth was rich, silky, and packed with umami, coating your mouth with flavor that lingers. They also offer lighter broths, and the noodles were cooked to perfection. We also had the onigiri. I’ve never tried a fresh one before—usually, I grab them to-go—but this one came with warm rice and flavorful fillings. It was both delicious and beautifully presented. I really appreciate their effort in putting together a quality kid’s meal: juicy, crispy karaage, fries, seasoned and plain rice, plus a drink. My kid devoured it! So refreshing not to see the usual frozen chicken nuggets or grilled cheese. The service was top-notch, and the decor is a bright blend of contemporary and classic elements. Most importantly, it was casual and comfortable.

OMG!!!! SOOOOO GOOD! THE VEGETARIAN PAITAN WAS SOOOOO GOOD! I am vegetarian and they had so many good vegetarian options! The seating was comfy and the service was GREAT! I was in a sad mood but this made me feel 10x better. No joke 10/10 would recommend and one of my favorite dfw ramen places! AND THE EGG OMGGGGG SO GOOD!

Google
We ordered to go, and I was impressed from the start. The packaging was elite! Clearly so much thought went into keeping everything fresh and intact. I got the Niboshi and my fiancé got the Spicy Paitan, plus an order of takoyaki to share. Both ramen bowls were delicious, and the soft-boiled eggs were honestly the best I’ve had in ramen anywhere. The takoyaki was also super tasty, and I appreciated that they packaged the bonito flakes separately so nothing got soggy. We’ll definitely be back, next time to dine in!

Google
Tiger Ramen: Legit Japanese Ramen in North Dallas. Straight up, if you're looking for real-deal Japanese ramen in North Dallas, Tiger Ramen is where it's at. They nail the authentic flavors and they've got the sides to back it up. Plus, you can even get Kaedama – that's the real deal right there. And for the noodle freaks like me, they let you order them exactly how you want: Katamen, Harigane, the works. Bottom line: If you want proper Japanese ramen in North Dallas, don't mess around, just go to Tiger Ramen. Highly recommended, no BS.

Google
Authentic Japanese Ramen and service. If you know Japan service this is the spot. Excellent flavor profile each dish.

Yelp
Great food. Friendly staff. Quaint restaurant with a family run vibe. The Spicy Patin is a solid choice.

Yelp
Authentic Japanese ramen shop. The ramens are delicious, flavorful soup base and not too salty. We also ordered karage, which to our surprise was better than it look. It's juicy and soft. Service was friendly. The waitress explain the menu to us and show us the happy hour items. Nice clean ambience inside with tiger theme. Will definitely come back.

Yelp
Tiger ramen is good, however I like the tonkatsu broth more than the paitan chicken based broth that they have here. Its clear the chicken broth was cooked low and slow for a long time, however it still reminded me a bit to much of just really good chicken noodle soup base which i have never thought of when eating ramen before. I was also a little let down by the onigiri- I tried the beef one. It was mainly rice that didnt seem to be seasoned at all- and then a bit of beef and I think pickled ginger or beet. Not much flavor and I wouldn't order it again. Its the first time I have had onigiri and I saw others said it reminded them of authentic onigiri from Japan so please take my review with that in mind. Truly I feel like my experience was a 3 star experience but I bumped my rating up and extra star because my extremely picky son loved the ramen broth and so did my husband. I love supporting small businesses like this so I may come back to pick up ramen for my family if I want the night off from cooking. Thank you tiger ramen for coming to mckinney and I wish you the best!

Yelp
Great spot for a tasty, quick & easy meal. Service is also friendly and prompt. Ambiance is casual but has fun hints of Japan. For the ramen, we've had the paitan, spicy paitan, and tsukemen so far. All are great for both the noodle texture and the broth. The salmon and yellowtail handrolls are also great.

Yelp

Yelp
I finally found good ramen in DFW! & I am so happy that this gem is near my work and home! The ramen here compares to what I've had in Japan. I loved the entire space, staff, and of course the amazing food and drinks. Support this wonderful business!! And take a temporary culinary trip to Japan. You will leave here satisfied. No doubt I am going to be a "regular" at Tiger Ramen.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite to check this place out. What a fun experience and great ramen and hand rolls. Sit at the bar watch them make everything to order. I 100% recommend stopping by, I will now become a regular!

Cyndi D.

Yelp
I got a bowl of noodles with 3 skinny slivers of sliced pork . No vegetables at all to add or with the broth. I did pay $2.50 for eight sliver bamboo shoots and $2.50 for a quarter size amount of spicy chili paste. Oni Ramen & other places are much better. You get a better variety and it's not so expensive. I ended up spending $34. $3.00 for a can of Coke. ( no refills ) save your money

Nicole W.

Yelp
Didn't taste like I thought it would. Noodles were odd. Broth wasn't tasty. Maybe I was wanting a different flavor. This was my first time trying the place as it was close to my job

Yelp
Happened to stop in today on their grand opening day! We tried their full-ramen set and weren't disappointed. We picked the paitan and the onigiri of the day was the salmon onigiri. The paitan was flavorful - nitamago (egg) had a very distinct flavor, menma (bamboo shoot) was definitely very strong - but the fatty bits in the broth stole the show. The salmon onigiri was a bit dry but the rice and seaweed was on point. Place was a bit small, but staff were incredibly friendly! Will be returning!

Yelp
Service Food Cleanliness This was our first time and I was happy to give the shop a shot. It was YUMMY and they are constantly evolving their menu with fun seasonal offerings. They have an open kitchen and you can sit at the bar and watch all the magic happen right in front of you. It's good for singles, couples or groups! Defiantly becoming a re-occurring spot for us!

Yelp
A tiny Japanese ramen place that reminds me of Japan. I am in love with spicy miso ramen follow by Takoyaki. This place is not for a big gathering type, it's more for couple & small party. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I would highly definitely recommend Tiger ramen for the ramen lover.

Yelp
Tiger Ramen will truly be missed. This Ramen house in Long Beach, California. I hate to see them go. Every Ramen was good. They also had really good hibachi rice. It's always a good restaurant that end up leaving good luck to Tiger Ramen Texas is very lucky to have you

Yelp
Wow, just had an amazing tsukemen here yesterday. The noodles were very good and the broth was rich and flavorful. I've been to Japan multiple times and I'm very picky of Japanese restaurants in the US - this one is legit. Also, staff speaks Japanese so you know it's the right place.

Yelp
Excellent! We walked in and were greeted with lovely service. The staff was tentative and kind. The ambiance truly resembled a ramen shop from Japan! The staff are Japanese as well. The overall experience felt like home. Now to the good part... the food. What a cultivation of lovely traditional flavors. Onigiris tasted just like mom's but with a special twist! The karaage was perfect and the yuzu sauce was the best!! The fish in the hand-rolls were fresh and the topping paired nicely. Ramen was a delight. The owner study traditional ramen technique in Japan. I cannot recommend this place enough! I saw lots of take out orders too, so that is a nice option if you don't want to dine-in. **I do want to note that it can be a little bit difficult to get to but it is truly a hidden gem.

Yelp
Great ramen from a spot that just opened up in Mckinney. I got the spicy Ramen and they weren't lying it is spicy! But, I loved it. Broth was rich and flavorful, perfect as is. I do wish they offered more topics without extra charges as the bowl, as is, had minimal topics when its price comparable to those who offer many more toppings. The hand roll was good too, fresh, delicious. Very friendly staff.

Yelp
This place is so good!! By far our favorite ramen place in McKinney. We've gone about four times since it opened and it's just as good whether you eat there or take it to go! Highly recommended!!

Yelp
Is this my new #1 ramen spot in DFW?? It's certainly a contender. Will be back ASAP to explore the menu further. Today I had spicy miso ramen and it was delicious. Very friendly Japanese people here explained the owner is from Japan and studied ramen there, and retired early to open this shop. I'm sure glad he did!

Yelp
The Paitan has the best broth in DFW. Great customer service as well. Would love to see tsukemen on the menu!

Yelp
Food was insanely small portion for $14 and didn't have great flavor. Highly disappointed in the beef bowl

Yelp
Great new Ramen and Sushi joint at the McKinney/Frisco border... Restaurant decor is really cool, like you are stepping into a small restaurant in Shinjuku! The ramen was excellent, I really enjoyed the spiciness of the broth. Price for the serving size was on par. Service was great and the wait staff were super attentive. Will be back!!!

Vivian K.

Yelp
Foods not fresh , and price is high not match the food! This is most worst Japanese restaurant I have ever been, never come again!

Beetles S.

Yelp
We have high expectation on this place due to the good reviews. First visit today and really don't know where is the good reviews come from. 1. Never had such a disgusting ramen. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen (what they called Paitan). The soup is worse than the instant noodles from the grocery. There is only salty flavor. No pork bone flavor. Surprised to find a lot of little pieces of fat residues in the broth. They obviously did not even use pork bone. But something frozen and ready made but add pork lard to try to add some flavor. It's not ramen broth at all. Very disgusting! The cha siu is very thin and fatty. The ramen portion is small. 2. My hubby does not want pork and prefer chicken. They told him to order chintan. From the menu and the waitress, this is supposed to have no pork but chicken broth only. But ended up the broth has a bunch of pork residue as well. He was trying to be nice and did not return it. They do not have any option for chicken ramen. This option comes with cha siu 3. It was before 1pm on Sat but they were out of chicken kraage already. 4. The host was rude. She asked us if everything is ok and we told her about the issue. She has no response on the broth issue. Every customers were offered lucky draw but she did not offer us just because we were honest to give her feedback. If she doesn't want to know then why ask us? We are just not the American who would just pay high price for everything even with low quality. The only good thing is fried geso but it's nearly $10 for 4 little pieces only. There are many places much better quality and better value for money. I would rather cook instant noodles at home than give business to this place

Yelp
First and foremost, this spot is new so there are limited reviews which we checked out before heading to this spot. Don't let that deceive you, this is a must try! We moved to McKinney in June and couldn't wait for them to open. WELL WORTH THE WAIT!! The food was delicious, spot is extremely clean and tucked away in an assuming spot. To kick off our meal we had the seaweed salad which is light and fresh. Karage was a delicious well flavored starter as well! We had the Miso Spicy Ramen with seared Pork Chashu and Paitan with Chashu which was so delicious. Both broths were well flavored and the servings were hearty for sure! They also were able to accommodate my allergy to spicy foods which was incredible! More than just the food, the service was top tier. Everyone was so attentive and it felt family owned. We will definitely be back and love that this gem has been added so close to home!
google avatar

Yelp
We tried the Karaage, Hamachi hand roll, Spicy ramen, and Niboshi ramen and they were all very delicious! The restaurant was very clean as well!
google avatar

James V.

Yelp
My family and I ordered many things and it was all delicious! We went during their soft opening so there were some food items that weren't available yet, but the menu looked great! I myself had the Miso Ramen and the bowl was much bigger than I was expecting! For $16.99, I'd say it was well worth it! Definitely will be back!

Joe L.

Yelp
Stopped to order lunch "to go" and ordered the Spicy Mizo and thoroughly enjoyed it! I was impressed how quickly it was ready. I will be making Tiger Ramen a regular lunch stop from now on!

Yelp
After traveling to Tokyo was craving authentic Onigiri (rice balls). This is the place to find them'

Yelp
Just tried this place out and I do have to say my ramen was very tasty!!! The pork was cooked perfectly and not fatty at all which I highly appreciate! The hostess took my to-go order and she was very kind and helpful. My only grievance is that it is a bit pricier than most ramen joints in the McKinney/DFW area. $2.99 to add an extra egg.. and $16/$17 for the ramen. After tax it was $22. Not bad but it should be under $20 easily for all of that. Even with inflation the last few years. I feel they would get more frequent regulars if they just lower price a tad. Needless to say, nice looking menu, nice folks, and my ramen was delicious.

Yelp
We went on opening night and just returned for a second time. The spicy miso ramen is amazing and so is the gyoza! We also enjoyed the edamame and green tea. My husband and I will definitely use this place as our go to ramen place! The staff has been super friendly both times and it's always super clean!

A P.

Yelp
Real Ramen! Great service, food and welcoming atmosphere. I really enjoyed the Paitan.

Big K.

Yelp
Very authentic! We enjoyed the soup very much. the onigiri was good too! Def rec to anybody who likes ramen!

Yelp
Best ramen we've had in this area by far!! We used to live in NYC and no ramen has compared to what we could find in the city. This one hit the mark for sure! We ordered the Paitan chicken tonkotsu, Chintan chicken clear broth and the Niboshi ramen. All three broths (and noodles) were incredible!!! Deep clean flavors. We also had the fried calamari legs and a yellowtail hand roll. This place is a must try!! Best ramen in the area.. that we've found anyway

Gunther H.

Yelp
very convenient location going north on Custer after Silverado. Enter at the side facing away from Custer. Not a big place and in that sense very Japanese. Staff was excellent and their ramen and broth were tasty and rich. They convinced us to consider ramen more often for lunch.

Margi W.

Yelp
Average ramen, small portion, salty broth, and way over-priced. I paid $16 for an average bowl of ramen that was very skimpy on ingredients other than the noodles. The $7 tiger ramen ball of rice was also just average. My lunch bill was $24.88. I was very disappointed and won't be back. They likely won't make it because it's way overpriced for an average quality bowl. Disappointing and won't return.
