How Bhumi Growers Deals Yuzu to Michelin-Starred Restaurants | Eater

"Started as a personal experiment in growing yuzu, this family-run New Jersey yuzu and exotic citrus farm evolved into a commercial supplier after years of trial and error. Operated by Vivek with his wife Seema and daughter Simran, the operation expanded with a new greenhouse and benefits from Simran’s expertise in plant grafting to reliably produce specialty citrus. The decision to commercialize was accelerated by Seema’s breast cancer diagnosis, which underscored the urgency to pursue their passion, and the farm now sells to high-end restaurants and craft breweries in New York and New Jersey, including Michelin-starred establishments such as Gabriel Kreuther and Masa in NYC." - Terri Ciccone

I recently visited your farm to buy fresh vegetables, and while I appreciate the quality and effort that goes into growing local produce, I was quite surprised by the pricing. I ended up spending $110 on items that would have cost me around $30 at Patel Brothers for a similar quantity and variety. Supporting local farms is important to me, but the price difference is too significant to ignore. I understand that smaller farms may have higher costs, but I hope there’s a way to make your pricing more competitive or transparent going forward. Thank you for your hard work—just wanted to share honest feedback as a customer.

This farm advertises itself as pick-your-own, but the reality is very different. I picked about 3.5 lbs of bottle gourd, yet was charged $28 for 7 lbs. The owner claimed he adds “extra weight” because the vegetables still need to grow to some imaginary size. I come from a farming family, so I know this isn’t how produce works. If that’s their policy, they should be upfront and put up a “no picking” sign rather than misleading people. The staff was unprofessional, and the whole experience didn’t feel authentic. Only visit if you’re fine with paying for vegetables you didn’t actually take home.

Gongura leaves are infested with eggs and insects. Drove for about 2hrs to get these sorrel leaves and they would not allow us to pick the leaves that we want. Do not recommend at all. Better to buy from Indian grocery stores atleast they don't sell you with infested leaves!

If I would have option to rate negative or zero , I prefer to choose rate them negative. Seller is very rude and they’re weighing also pretty bad. Weight was less by 1 pound compared to farm weight. Purley looting customer, not worth to visit . On top vegetables and gongura are infested a lot. Same gongura we can get @3.99$ (8$ per lb )at Indian store which come with great quality

I would like to rate negative but i don't have option to do so. Bought some gongura one lady there weighed it and said the weight was 8 pounds and the weight value is only visible to her not customers and when we came and weighed it was only 7.5 pounds also we bought some other veggies not sure if it was accurate too. Veggies are very expensive that she billed 70 dollars for almost a quarter of walmart bag. No proper instructions given before picking veggies when we go to billing they said you are not supposed to pick veggies they are very small i should charge double price for those and they will taunt is again and again on same point. It is completely a scam not at all worth going. We can go for gongura but will never visit again because of rude behavior.

We were really looking forward to visiting TIKSmart Farms in NJ, but our experience was very disappointing. The staff were not friendly and came across as rude, which took away from the enjoyment. We were surprised that we were not allowed to pick the vegetables ourselves—the staff cut them instead, which was not the experience we expected. On top of that, the prices were much higher than what you would pay at a regular store. Unfortunately, this was not a pleasant visit and I wouldn’t recommend it to others.

Our reason for visiting this farm is, they grow a very special green leaf called "GONGURA". Gongura is grown in only 2-3 states in India, especially on south east side of India. The quality of the leaf is most important. It is rarely seen in any Indian grocery store. There are different types in this green leaf. Red leaf Gongura is really special for its taste and nutritive value. It is very rich in Iron among other nutrients. The type of leaf grown in this farm is liked by many and is red gongura. Also, called as Erra gongura When we visited, we came to know that they grow few more Indian veggies apart from the gongura. I am not sure whether this farm is an organic one or not. But happy to visit the farm and see doctors and pharmacists actively participating in farming and managing the farm on weekends. They said they have few other facilities available like renting a RV, having a picnic or party in the backyard. I do not have much information on that though. We bought Gongura, Sorakaya, Potlakaya, Keera and tomatoes and they tasted splendid.

Good people & Good Vegetables!! To taste authentic Indian vegetables or Gongura (Sorrel sour leaves) you must visit this TIKSmart Gongura & Indian Vegetable Farm. You will be tempted to buy much more than you planned. To get most, cook the vegetable same day or the next to enjoy the real taste of the vegetables or Gongura. I am sure you will visit again and again to enjoy the freshness and real taste or the Vegetables. Apart from getting the fresh vegetables you can enjoy the beauty of the nature, creek and lots of woods(trees). There are some picnic tables so you can bring some snacks or brunch and enjoy them in beautiful nature created by God under the trees with a creak next to you. The kids will also have fun with many games, activities and hayrides.
