Tilt Coffee Bar

Really dig this inner city downtown LA spot with a very minimalist futurism style. Apparently designed by the architects of the housing surrounding the cafe, this spot sits in the courtyard away from the horrors of living in DTLA. Super sleek concrete and glass design, it’s just a small setup for ordering but with spacious outdoor seating with plenty of breathing room. The outside has some hanging sculptures and a rising hill behind it to sit along. Just be careful as the makeshift boardwalk planks are unstable and pop and shift as you walk along it. Almost tripped me up a few times. Cloud Latte was their signature drink and very tasty. The espresso was bright and came through even with the flavorful sweet cream on top. I don’t know that I’d come down here specifically for coffee but if I’m ever in that area for whatever reason, I’ll definitely stop by.

Favorite coffee spot in downtown to grab coffee. Everyone that works here is very nice and friendly. All the baristas provide a great service with the drinks they make. You cannot go wrong with some of their signature drinks. I totally recommend the cloud latte and cloud matcha. The nutty cloud is good little treat if you don’t feel like having a lot of coffee and enjoy peanut butter :) Totally recommend this spot 🖤

My husband’s favorite matcha latte is made by the knowledgeable staff members here at Tilt. This has been one of the first and lasting retail spaces in the Medallion Apartments building. Nice seating area outside with fresh grass and shaded tables. Great space to take kids because they have a set of big steps next to the shop and a grass hill, making it a fun space to run along. Also makes a good place to work on a lap top for a bit or meet up with a friend. Nice selection of baked goods, always fresh and always feels like a treat. Price point is fair for their excellent quality of offerings and for being in the middle of DTLA. Their matcha lattes are around $6. My friend really enjoys their ice hazelnut lattes. I usually pick one of their ready-made-drinks from the fridge cause I’m usually thirsty and when I get to that area of town. At night the space is illuminated by a giant neon flower that hangs nearby.

Coffee ☕️ and tea 🍵 anyone? Well other than your typical cold brews, they have specialty coffee here, teas and more. What I love is that as a tea person, I get tired of looking at the same typical green teas and black teas people offer. Tilt Coffee has knowledgeable baristas and they have different types of oolong, white, green teas which makes it extra special. Love the vibes. Not really a place to sit inside, but they also sell little items for coffee lovers and more. There are outside seating areas however as you can see in the little preview video. If you want real authentic coffee and tea, come on through!!

Interesting spot inside apartment complex. Wanted to try the cloud drink. They didn't have dairy free so I tried the dairy one, didn't get the hype. Cute spot though, will try other drinks next time if I go.

Great coffee roaster nestled in a unique spot in the middle of downtown Los Angeles. Wish they could combine the great coffee with some food. They do have some pasties and quiche from the bread lounge.

Friendly service! Being from out of town and my first time, that meant a lot (I don’t always experience that). My latte was the perfect sweetness and temp combined with delicious espresso. The cinnamon yogurt cake that was recommended was delicious!! This lil kiosk is tucked inside a courtyard, off the street and quiet. It was a pleasant way to start my morning visit in LA. I highly recommend visiting this lil place for coffee!!

I'd like to start with parking. I was lucky to park on the street. But we can park inside of the parking structure. Don't worry, they can validate. Because It's inside of the apartment, it's very unique and cozy environment. Also the entrance after I parked on the street is absolutely special (see it for yourself). The restroom, you can go one in the salad restaurant right next to it. Tables and chairs are very clean even though it's outside. This is my first time here so I got the most popular drink. Cloud latte. Not only it looks good on photos but also tastes awesome Lastly, the service was incredible! Super friendly baristas working here! You will love it

Tilt is first and foremost an excellent coffee roaster. Their outdoor cafe is quite nice too. The almost but not quite abandoned mall location has character, a wonderful place to enjoy some peace and quiet in busy downtown LA. I don't normally go for specialty coffee drinks, preferring the classics, but a big fan of theirs. The cinnamon cloud is awesome. My only wish is that they brought back some indoor seating for those rare occasions when the weather isn't so nice.

Such a cute coffee shop! I couldn't find it at first and realized that it's on the 2nd floor! Staff were really friendly and made the drinks in a timely manner. Mind you, this place can only hold at least 5 people inside with only one espresso machine! The ladies did great. Love the mocha cloud - creamy, bittersweet chocolate. Hochija was good too, but somewhat grainy. None of the drink were overly sweet compared to commercialized coffee shops. You can really taste the flavor.

Although I am not much of a coffee drinker I do have a space in my heart for cafes. They are perfect social spaces and happen to have a form of craft. Many cafes lean their reputation on not only their drinks but the ambience and space itself. However, Tilt Coffee Bar is where the drinks will have to do most of the talking. That's because the exterior space surrounding Tilt is not what it used to be. Before, this space was filled with bustling businesses and utilized for numerous LA Art Walks. Now, much of the energy and businesses are gone leaving only a few artists and Tilt in the space. You might find some of the locals living in the area hanging out, but it can also be occupied by vagabonds alike. It doesn't take away from the cool green space utilized as a lawn on the second floor where the cafe is, but it might mean you hover closer to the tiny cafe than you'd expect. So if the drinks have to be the talkers, what do they say? Well, Tilt leans on their reputation with their cloud cream. Think of it as their own version of a cold cream. Thick, light in flavor but texturally creamy and wonderful it is a nice addition to any drink without overbearing it. I had the Cloud Latte which I thought tastes well after it was all mixed together. Before mixing, it was a macchiato as they poured the espresso on top. Still, visually it is pleasant to the eyes and when you taste it the Cloud Latte goes down smooth. If you're in the area Tilt is a nice boutique style cafe with good drinks and little nonsense. Good for take away and a nice, small oasis in an area filled with infrastructure. Just be mindful of who else is taking up the space around you.

The kiddos love TILT COFFEE BAR because of their always consistent, super delicious STRAWBERRY CLOUD, which came with extra freeze dried strawberries. TILT roasts their own beans now. Got some medium-light roasted ones. LATTE tastes light. Really appreciate the multiple tables in the courtyard and the super friendly staff.

Lady off the coffee striked again with this find! Truly loved tilt the flavors of coffee are amazing and the staff is uber friendly! Really loved the modern vibe inside this quaint coffee shop, if you happen to find yourself DTLA it's a high recommend!

This spot came up when we were downtown. They aren't on the main street and the entrance is deceiving given a tent sign with some minor construction. You have to walk a few steps into a courtyard area (which has an out of Downtown vibe) to get here. A bench and small counter inside with some outdoor seating. We ordered a Cortado and the Cloud Mocha. Cortado was so good the usual packet or so of sugar wasn't necessary. The Cloud Mocha was exceptional. Perfectly balanced and not too sweet (I can taste the coffee!). So good we returned a second time. Tried the Mocha with Oat Milk and 2% milk and couldn't decide which was better. They also have a handful of pastries. Ordered a Mushroom Tart-delicious! Service was upbeat and friendly with engaged people creating and serving coffee/tea deliciousness. If you're in downtown LA, make this stop!

My friend and I randomly saw a sign on the street for this coffee shop while walking to our lunch spot and decided to check this place out after. It's tucked away in a courtyard area and not on the main street. We were lucky enough to find some metered street parking but parking in DTLA is always difficult. It's a cute little coffee shop with some outdoor seating under some shaded umbrellas. It wasn't busy when we went on a Wednesday afternoon, so the service was quick. It was pretty hot that day so we just grabbed our drinks to go. I ordered the Sweetened Cloud Matcha and my friend ordered the Cloud Latte. To be honest, I wasn't a huge fan of their cloud cream/foam. The consistency was good, but it tasted butter-y and more salty than sweet/creamy. However, we really enjoyed the drink part of it! The lattes were a good flavor and tasty. Next time, I'll probably only get the drink by itself without the cloud cream.

last week we tried Tilt Coffee, a cafe with amazing reviews! to get to the cafe, you have to go through a shared entrance that other businesses also use but it's essentially behind the first building and is a stand-alone building. we got the unsweetened ceremonial matcha and the strawberry fields latte, both with whole milk. the matcha was great and it was obvious that it was good quality. the strawberry fields was good, but i felt like it needed something more!! i cant put my finger on it. the cold foam on top was a nice touch and so were the strawberry pieces inside, but i feel like it couldve used something else. the baristas were kind however, and the salad business next door allows Tilt customers to use their restroom because they do not have their own (i guess Tilt used to have keyed access to the apartment building restroom according to past reviews, but it seems that is no longer a thing). parking is kinda difficult but it's DTLA so it's expected.

I visited Tilt Coffee on a Sunday, so the parking wasn't bad. However, I could imagine the difficulty in finding street parking on weekdays or Saturdays. The drinks were great, especially the nutty cloud. The foam had a strong nutty flavor, which was quite unique. The latte cloud is sweeter than the nutty cloud. The inside of the coffee shop was small. But the outside of the shop was spacious, and they have seating setup outside.

My friend took me to try this place out because he said they have the best matcha in downtown LA and he was not wrong. The Cloud Matcha is extremely good and you can tell they use quality grade matcha. Thankfully it wasn't his first time here and he knew how to get there because it is inside a bigger building and it's kinda hidden. The shop is small with no seating but they do have a few tables outside. I was also able to try the Nutty Cloud with Peanut Butter Foam and it wasn't bad but it's much smaller and more expensive than the matcha and it didn't taste like PB because the coffee overpowered it. I would definitely come back just for the matcha.

MENU HAS NO PEANUT ALLERGY WARNING Originally wanted to give 4 stars for the coffee for the coffee I got which was the cloud latte and it was really smooth, creamy and tasty. However, I went with a friend who is only allergic to peanuts and she ordered the Nutty Cloud which stated on the menu as- "Nutty Cloud: Hazelnut Syrup + Milk + Double Espresso + Nutty Cream" so without seeing any signs of warning that there was peanut in it, and no warning from staff members, she ordered it. She only had one sip and immediately knew it had peanuts in it. I went in to ask about it and that's when they told me that the nutty cream is a peanut butter cream. I told them that's not good because my friend has a peanut allergy and the employees even apologized for the mistake of not warning us about this or it stating on the menu. This is extremely not okay and dangerous to people with peanut allergies. Thankfully she's not deadly allergic but she did feel her throat closing up. We had to go get medication so that she didn't end up in the hospital. For anyone who has peanut allergies please do not get this drink. I just double checked their website and it does show that the nutty cream is peanut butter but their menu in store did not and they should really update the menu. Especially because not everyone would think to look at the website for the menu when you're in the store already. I am truly disappointed because this is unsafe to people with allergies.

My go to for their matcha cloud latte. I get the vegan version & I'm obsessed. I've become a regular. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for coffee in this section of dtla.

Cute hidden little coffee shop in downtown LA, near Little Tokyo. You can't easily see it from the street but it's not a far walk at all when you follow the map. It's hidden in the middle of the block and has plenty of open space. There are a few tables but it would also be a great little spot to just bring a blanket and some food or pastries, and enjoy your coffee on the grass. We shared a Nutty Cloud which was so delicious! The best part was the cream on top, which had a smooth light peanut butter flavor. My only criticism is that it needed more ice, but otherwise the flavor was all there!

Great espresso beans they roast them themselves. The ceremonial match is great too. Only thing that sucks is the parking. But cool place to sit and sip you drink. Good service too they definitely have their baristas trained well haven't had a bad pull of shots as an ex barista for several years I can taste a dead shot.

You could use a little cold cream in your coffee! It's all about the cloud lattes. Nothing new but been a fan of it more these days. I usually drink black coffee but hooked now on cloud lattes. My go to here is the cloud mocha. It's a bit heavy on the cream but I'll take it. I prefer more coffee and stronger. It's never busy here since it's tucked away inside the courtyard of the Medallion Apartments. It's not a bad spot to chill with a few outdoor tables.... There is armed security here so but have seen a few drugged out homeless sneak in. Not the best part of DtLA to be in (3rd/Main St.). Next to a parking lot but vacated by an encampment. Just a heads up.

First time here, very friendly staff, clean location, some bar stools inside just to wait, lots of seating outside on the "steps" real grass for dogs, had a farmers market going on, cool vibe inside the area, gross Downtown La vibe outside. Lots of homeless and trash outside. Would return and highly recommend, good drinks and fair prices.

This is a small coffee shop - not on the main road, you have to walk away from the curb a bit to find it - it's located next to an apt. complex. It's very cute and there are some tables to sit outside and enjoy your coffee. Parking is street metered parking or I'm sure there are paid lots nearby. Service was very friendly and the coffee was equally fantastic. I had an iced cinnamon cloud latte - it was delicious - my partner likened it to an horchata latte. The drink is not overly sweet and has a strong coffee flavor. I also had a warmed almond danish which was okay, but I will not dock it as this isn't a bakery and they most likely get their baked goods from elsewhere. A definite must try coffee shop.

Ladies and gents... I've changed my mind. I'm a coffee lover so if you think I wasn't going to give another shot to a place that's so close to me, you're out of your mind. And this time... this time it was amazing. Service was good per-usual, usual ambiance as well. I got the cinnamon cloud with hazelnut and vanilla. (totaled $7) This drink already comes with maple syrup so I was taking a risk but the flavors blended together BEAUTIFULLY. It was sweeter but still not Starbucks sweet. If anything I feel like it enhanced the flavor profile of the espresso. Sometimes if you don't like something or feel like there's potential, it's really all about finding what works for you. 10/10 recommend.

Their cloud foam latte hits the spot! Hidden inside an apartment complex, Tilt is a standalone coffee shop in the middle of DTLA! It's super simplistic and minimal, which is what I love about this place. Their Cloud Latte is a must get that I ordered with vanilla syrup instead of the maple syrup it typically comes with. There's no inside seating, but there's enough tables outside so you can enjoy the nice upcoming summer heat! Definitely check it out the next time you need some coffee in Downtown LA!

cloud matcha (8.5/10) - $7.00 - this matcha was so delicious! the quality definitely shined through and the cream on top was sooooo yummy. this shop is so small and cute! its hidden away in dtla, in the middle of some apartments/small shops. no inside seating, but there is some outside so you can enjoy your matcha or coffee in the nice la weather. the menu is small, but every item is perfected. definitely put this place on you la food tours, it is such a gem!

Truly a hidden gem! Tucked away between apartment buildings in downtown LA is this tiny coffee shop who specializes in "Cloud" drinks. The staff were very kind and informative, and made excellent recommendations to us. We ended up trying the Cloud Mocha and the Cloud Ceremonial Matcha. Both were DELICIOUS. The creamy cold foam on top was perfect and going with the ceremonial matcha instead of the standard matcha was definitely the better choice. I can't wait to come back and try more of their drinks!

Loved this little place! When you walk towards the shop you are almost transported as it has a different vibe that the street you just came off of. The shop itself is a small place with glass walls with a cute aesthetic. The workers were really nice and helped me to decide what to try. I ended up with a matcha latte with almond milk and cloud foam on top. It was a delicious drink and hit the matcha craving I had. I will definitely be coming back

(October 2022) This coffee shop was located within a 10-min walk from my hotel (little Tokyo) so decided to give it a try. Ordered a cold brew and a cloud matcha latte (unsweetened). Service is great. Super friendly baristas and short wait times for pickup. The tables are all outside and it's a nice space to chill from the hustle and bustle. The walk on main st was fine. The walk back near the callejones is a little dicey lol.

Super cute coffee shop in a nice relaxing patio area! I got the Cloud Latte with almond milk. As someone who can't have dairy, I really appreciated that they were able to do the cream top with coconut milk. Only critique is that the drink came out to ~$8 with all the alternatives, so definitely not a place I would go to frequently. Nonetheless, the drink was delicious (albeit a bit sweet for my preference) and I'm glad I dropped by!

I don't normally give 5 stars for a coffee shop unless I've tried a variation of drinks they offer. However this cloud latte was a real standout to be the espresso was a bit bold in flavor but smoothed out with the cloud foam and milk. I always like to ask the workers when exploring a new place what they recommend I order/ or their favorite item before I decide to order. The lady behind the counter was really nice and made good alternate dairy suggestions that wouldn't compromise the overall flavor of the latte. Downtown is a little rough but this place was a nice hidden gem to find in an area where there was nice quiet seating area. I will definitely have to come back again next time I'm in DTLA.

Any coffee shop that isn't a Starbucks is a win for me. I stumbled upon Tilt in DTLA, which is snuggled between two apartment buildings. I went on a Saturday at Noon, so I definitely beat the morning coffee rush. However, I missed the brewed coffee which is only served from 7:00am to 11:00am. After 11:00am the coffee menu is limited to Cloud drinks or their version of cold foam coffee drinks. I ordered the Cinnamon Cloud, which was good. I can definitely see myself stopping here often.

Honestly, the coffee was pretty average with a steep price tag. I got the nutty cloud and my friend got the mocha cloud. We subbed the milk for oat milk which is an extra $0.75. The drink was 90% milk and 10% espresso. I know that for most cases, lattes tend to have more milk but the menu said it was a double shot espresso. The nutty cloud did have its advertised peanut butter taste which was nice. It also tasted like a hazelnut latte. The mocha tasted light which is comparative to other coffee joints where the mocha is super dense. The cream was nice though, it wasn't too sweet. The service was nice but overall I don't think it's worth the drive and the hassle to find street parking (which is non existent). The store is small but there's seating outside. The little store is nestled within what looks like an apartment complex.

One of my best friends showed me this place she drives out from OC to grab coffee from. I really love einspanner type coffee from Yeems and Memorylook too! She wanted me to try this cloud coffee.. that she said was even better than yeems! It was a bold statement... Let me tell you I still love me my vienna latte but the cloud coffee here was so good! It tastes just like a milk cream cloud. I don't know how else to describe it... with a shot of espresso! I got the cinnamon cloud and it was so good I drank it before we made it back to the car! Not gonna lie this place is a hidden gem in a living complex... so parking was hard! Unless you want to pay! We luckily found street parking around the corner but did circle a few times! Definitely so good and I'm jealous of the people who live easily walking distance from here! If parking wasn't a factor I'd come here more! Great espresso quality!

I was somewhat tentative to try because I'm not a fluffy or sweet coffee drinker. I don't like the term 'coffee snob' because it implies I like rare or expensive coffee. Not true. I just love the taste of good espresso with a little milk. This is the reason I usually make my own. On occasion I like to splurge. The location is somewhat secluded which is genius in this somewhat sketchy area populated with unhoused folks. It's a little hard to find but not impossible. The cafe is sunny with clear glass to make it feel bigger. There's benches and tables outside. The staff was immediately friendly and alert. I appreciate that. I asked for a strong espresso drink with milk. Barrista suggested cappuccino which they make with less milk. It was delicious! Strong , great espresso and a dash of oatmilk. The price point is typical for the location, $6 for cappuccino. I work in the area and easily caught the D dash bus on Main going north. I will return for a coffee treat as it was a great experience.

This is a little place that looks like a great spot for a quick grab and go pick me up. We tried some drinks like the cloud latte iced only. Really good, recommend. The cloud matcha was too sweet, I'll probably ask for less sweet next time. Not much seating area aside from few tables and bench. The service was quick and no frills.

My friend and I walked to tilt after lunch in little tokyo, which was a little sketchy so drive. It was a little difficult to find because it was tucked inside a building complex. The store was very unique and cool, like a little hidden geometric nook. Service was nice and quick. There is outside seating. I ordered an iced cloud mocha with oat milk ($6.50+$0.75), and my friend ordered the iced nutty cloud ($6.50+$0.75). Definitely on the more expensive end for a cup of coffee at $7.25 per cup. The coffee itself was quite average and mostly milk with an espresso afterthought. The cream top was creamy and delicious but not the best I've had (memory look and community goods is better). Mine tasted pretty much like a chocolate milk so no complaints. My friend's cream top was the stand out for sure; it tasted so peanut buttery which was a nice surprise. Overall, tilt was pretty average, nothing special and a little pricey for what it is and where it is. The location is a little inconvenient and hard to locate. Probably won't come back but still solid.

Tilt Coffee Bar is a yummy coffeeshop tucked away in DTLA. Its location is in the middle of this outdoor courtyard area, and its small indoor storefront is cute and cozy. The workers are very friendly and pleasant; the service is consistently good, and they prepare your drinks very quickly. The coffee itself is fantastic. I've tried both the Cloud Latte and Cloud Matcha, which I loved. The cloud refers to the cream foam top, which is super yummy. It is perfectly not too sweet and adds a nice richness to the drink. The drinks themselves are on the sweeter, creamier side, but I love the taste of them. You can definitely tell that they use high-quality ingredients for their drinks. One downside is that they only have outdoor seating. It's a cute place to go with friends for a catch-up hangout, but I personally wouldn't really spend hours there or anything. In terms of parking, there is primarily metered street spots in the area. I definitely will be back!

A reliable source told me to seek this out if I'm downtown and I'm glad they did. The coffee is 1st rate. I had a classic, perfect capuccino. I loved the nuttiness and texture. The beans were excellent and the service impeccable. Worth seeking out. A little oasis in the middle of small complex.

Tilt Coffee Bar can be hard to find so make sure you use your GPS. We got lucky and found metered street parking by the steps to the outdoor courtyard where Tilt Coffee Bar is located. They have outdoor seating with a huge metal flower hanging above. We were waiting at the far corner of the courtyard so we were surprised when the cashier lady brought our drinks to us! Iced Ceremonial Grade Cloud Matcha ($7): I'm not usually a fan of ceremonial grade matcha since it's bitter or has an overwhelming matcha taste but this was really good. You can taste the matcha and milk components separately as well and know Tilt uses quality products. Iced Sweetened Cloud Matcha ($6.50): We asked to make it vegan so she used coconut cream but I'm not sure which type of milk alternative she used. The coconut cream went really well with the matcha but added a bit too much sweetness to the drink. Other than that, it was so delicious! I think I'll try the coconut cream with the ceremonial grade cloud matcha next time to see if that's the perfect match for me :) Hot Nutty Cloud ($6.50) + Oat Milk ($0.75): I got this drink hot so the cup was much smaller than the iced drinks (Starbucks tall size). They couldn't substitute the cream since the peanut butter is incorporated into the cream. The flavor was perfect and so unique. I wasn't sure how they were going to pull peanut butter flavored cream off but they did. Definitely recommend trying if you're feeling adventurous.

Cute cafe spot in Downtown LA nestled in the center of an apartment complex, but it's a perfect spot for an afternoon pick me up. Prompt service even though I only saw two employees at the time. They've been open for 7 years! + they have a anniversary house blend of coffee beans to celebrate. Since I don't drink coffee, I got their Matcha Tonic with Citrus, and it was not ! too ! sweet ! with a good balance between the matcha and the lemonade. Does Tilt Coffee Bar allow doggos? Yes, the seats are mainly outdoors. Tilt Coffee Bar is a small coffee bar nestled in the center of a plaza. There are plenty of seats outdoors. Service was efficient and friendly. Their cortado was good. Parking may be challenging during busy downtown rush hours. Meter parking and paid parking lot available nearby.

Great taste in coffee. Beans are roasted to perfection. Location is a bit far for me but it was worth the drive. Seating area is nice. A bit lonely for now. Once more stores open in the area the place will be perfect. Should open more store.

Amazinggggg espresso. Some distinct aroma .. pure poetry. This spot is for coffee snobs. But so quaint and kawaii. The outdoor ambience is equally lovely and unique. Go to spot when I'm in the area for sure
