Timber & Salt - Review - Redwood City - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"This spot’s cozy leather booths and plentiful wood trim give its dining room an old-school steakhouse vibe that’s perfect for date nights. The menu is all about dressed-up comfort food, like the crispy, spiced-just-right curry fried chicken, or the lightly charred petite filet mignon. Steaks are served with your choice of butter or demiglace—go for the miso-honey butter. The bar program showcases housemade syrups, bitters, and tinctures, which make even the simpler cocktails taste elevated. We suggest trying the tangy “Whoa” cocktail with habanero and poblano liqueurs, Sichuan honey, herbs, and lime. When the weather cooperates, snag a table on the heated patio." - Gabi Moskowitz

Went here for a date night and the place has a good vibe. The service is great, staff are friendly. Loved the red and white wines. Food, however, was subpar. The staff were really kind enough to take back some of it as we complained about the taste. But, all the three items (appetisers and entrees) were disappointing. The pork belly in the bao was so chewy and the cauliflower bites had a weird taste (the waiter was kind enough to take it back). I really hope they fix it so that we can be back 🥲

Google
The staff, atmosphere, and cocktails were amazing! However, we ordered the tomahawk medium rare (warm and red in the center) and was served rare (cool, soft and mostly red), or at the very least the very rare side of medium rare. The crust was delicious, but the steak was undercooked for what we ordered/expected and the fat was not rendered because of this. We would recommend ordering medium if you are aiming for medium rare based on this experience. We also understand it is partially on us for not sending it back. The demi glace and herb compound butter were great, and the whipped garlic mashed potatoes were good. Disappointed for what we spent, but would still give T&S a second chance.

Google
First, staff was amazing. I mean amazing and we've been to many restaurants in the area. Brussel sprouts were 5*, Burger and fries 5* and the beet salad was good, not great... More beets. Cocktails were incredible and I could see coming here for happy hour. Wish they had a few vegetarian options.

This place is all about the booze. We sat outside because it was a nice evening. It’s located on a quiet corner, the is plenty of parking in garages on the same block. You do have to pay after an hour and a half I believe. I paid $5, not bad. Looking at the drink menu, I didn’t recognize half the ingredients. When I asked the server what he likes he went through the whole menu and explained the ingredients, the flavors, the origins. He made everything sound intriguing and delicious. We selected the Aztec and the Wake up Tomorrow. Both of them were so so good. The flavor was unique but familiar. Perfectly mixed. We just got apps and salad to eat. All tasty. The arancini was good, surprisingly spicy with the Calabrian chili. At the end of the meal we got the cheesecake, it was so so tart with the passion fruit and kiwi. It’s a sharable size too! Staff super friendly and knowledgeable, will definitely come back here! Cute and unique place with cool vibes.

I looked for a new place to try to catch up with a dear friend so I thought I'd give Timber and Salt a try. Catchy name that got my attention so off we went. I do think the place has huge potential but just lacks a few things. I'm currently not drinking alcohol but sample Mocktails, and the two I tried I wouldn't recommend. The first one, something to mimic rum, was so sweet it thought I was licking on sugar candy. The 2nd one, more on the lime ginger base, was so sour that I couldn't finish the drink. I'm sure the real cocktails are better, at least my friend was pleased with her choice. The food was a bit of a mixed bag of tricks. The beet salad was nice by flavor and presentation and the brussel sprouts were pretty tasty. The mussels, I think, were previously frozen and the dish didn't live up to its potential. Tip for the chef, if the mussels aren't fresh then the sauce provencale has to make up for it, butter, white wine and spices can come to the rescue. Also don't place the toast bread into the sauce. By the time the dish was served the bread was soggy and felt apart. The mushroom side dish was rather sad, a great variation of mushrooms but either the oil or butter that was used overtone the mushrooms flavor and the dish tasted like a burger or steak that was made for other customers. The service, I think, has also room for improvement, as it lacks personality and charm. For me the worst part was when our waiter explained to us the menu by saying, on the left side you have the appetizer, on the right side the whole main courses. Really? I can read, why don't you tell me something that I don't know. It's a steakhouse, tell me about the cuts, tell me where you source your meat from and do it with a bit of personality. I see potential but needs work.

Google
Such a wonderful experience. New York Steak was delicious and generous portion. Salmon was perfection and also generous size. Sides of Mash Potatoes and Sauteed Mushrooms was so yummy and filling alongside the main proteins. Cocktails were made very skillfully. Service was warm and smart. Excellent dining experience.

Google
Fried chicken time, when I asked the waiter fried chicken or steak, his face lit up, fried chicken it was, cheese grits and greens, served with honey and something like Frank's hot sauce on the side which was perfect taste combo. The table had Tuna and a bunch of sides, it was all done perfect, the kitchen backs up all the goodness. But the coffee was not strong (for me), I guess that is understood for night time but I like it strong, the chocolate cake was not heavy chocolate flavor, I guess they keep it light neat the end :). All and all, it was a perfect, service was old school simply good. Thank you

Google
The service was great and we loved the atmosphere here. The drinks were really good and the steak was cooked to perfection. Unfortunately the steak was a little over salted and the gnocchi dish, although delicious, was a let down since it only had like 10 pieces of gnocchi in it.

Yelp
We'd like to share our experience at Timber & Salt. We visited on a Friday evening, during peak hours, and the restaurant was fully packed. Despite the crowd, the food and drinks were served incredibly fast. We especially want to highlight the bartender -- unfortunately, we don't know his name. He had a large gray beard, a shaved head, and wore big black glasses. A true professional -- focused, efficient, and no unnecessary talk. As for the taste of the food and cocktails -- that's a whole other story. You just have to come in and try it for yourself. We're very grateful to the team for such great service. My wife and I had a wonderful Friday night.

Yelp
I wanted to dine at Timber & Salt for a proper dinner date and they did not disappoint! We came for an early dinner without a reservation but they were able to seat us. We were on a tight schedule so we got the Brussel sprouts, garlic whipped potato, and scallops to share. The service was attentive and well-paced. I love the ambiance here; it's comfortable for a solo date or a small group. My gut doesn't tolerate a lot of carbs any more, so I appreciate the veggie- and protein-filled menu. I highly recommend getting variety of dishes to share or nourish yourself. Easy to get to from multiple parking lots and street parking. Will return!

Yelp
Went on a Saturday night for dinner. Got a table right away outdoors. It has succulents planted and also heaters above which was welcomed as it was a little chilly Ordered a couple of non alcoholic drinks. Tell me- was a nice ube and coconut milk based drink. Not overpoweringly sweet. Nice flavor Just a touch- on the sweet side. Sour drink. Didn't taste the guava much. It was kind of a like a unique lemonade Arancini- very tasty with the Calabrian chili. The Meyer lemon aoli was an interesting pairing with it Curry fried chicken- my friend had this and enjoyed it but said that it lacked a carb component Gnocchi Putanesca - the capers and crispy shallots uplifted the dish.

Yelp
Great cocktails and burgers and steaks Went on a busy Friday. Would recommend rez in advance.

Yelp
Redwood City continues to up their establishment game. Another homer for their libation scorecard. Stopped in for post dinner cocktails and mocktails following dinner at Limon next door (see YR). The continuation of a birthday celebration, our party of six intended to grab seats at the bar, but were graciously offered a table instead. We were welcomed into an intimate indoor space, but open patio seating is also available. The beverage menu boasts expertly crafted cocktails and mocktails (keep in mind they do not offer any accommodations or modifications), by their resident mixologist. Each were balanced, and well garnished encased within an appropriate vessel. Their wine list is ample with a plethora of varietals as well. Being well into my Dry January; I opted for the Easy and Cold Nights - two of their dozen or so N/A choices. Both equally delicious, and enticing to the senses. All others in our party enjoyed their cocktails of choice which ran the gamut of the menu. We did not partake in any food options this visit, but will definitely return to enjoy their offerings. Not worth omitting a star, but slight downside is a hard line no accommodation policy may deter some guests.

Yelp
Enjoyed a Friday night dinner on their patio. Heaters and enclosure kept it reasonably warm. Tables inside also looked cozy, but music in there was a bit loud and most of the two tops were tightly packed--the kind where you're further from your dining partner than the strangers on either side and you have to pretend you aren't hearing every word each other says... Cocktails were solid--they had a good mix of spirit-forward options like the Old Fashioned variants we ordered and more complicated stuff (think house made syrups and infusions). My drink seemed a bit of a light pour for $19, but tasted good. Had buffalo cauliflower and arancini for apps. Both fine, but neither blew us away. Arancini was crunchy but fell apart immediately when cut. Cauliflower was under seasoned and not nearly buffalo enough for me. Fried chicken was well-prepared, greens and cheese grits tasty and not overly salty. It was a great dish. Beet salad lovely to look but on the oily side and not that many beets. Would skip the salad next time. Service was strong. All in all, enjoyed it and will come back, but room for improvement.

Yelp
Delicious! We got the ribeye with tuna steak app. The tuna steak app was cheaper and around the same prize as the entree. I usually gravitate towards steak, but decided to mix it up with tuna and it did not disappoint. My only regret for the night was that I ordered a second cocktail before I knew there were dessert cocktails! I will definitely be back for drinks maybe after a movie at cinemark to try the dessert cocktails. Good dinner place for special events. Not very crowded during a week night which helped provide a more intimate dining experience.

Yelp
Timber & Salt - a restaurant and bar with hipster vibes. Stopped by here with a buddy for a drink at the bar before dinner. We were welcomed immediately upon entering and invited to sit at the bar for our drink. Friendly staff and bartender. I ordered an Old Fashioned, which was crafted with the perfect amount of alcohol and sweetness. My friend ordered the Sweeter Sound which contained Mezcal, strawberry agave, ginger, lime, and bitters. You can also order food or appetizers at the bar, which I'd love to try next time. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Redwood City to try some of their other cocktails and apps.

Yelp
We just had a very memorable meal at Timber and salt. We are Old fashioned aficionados and they did not disappoint from the perfectly cut square ice cube to the orange peel garnish on the edge of the beverage. Service was perfectly timed and quite attentive without being intrusive. We started with warm olives and our cocktail. Then we moved onto a beet and greens salad. It was large enough to share which we did. Since we were celebrating 33 years of marriage we both splurged and ordered filet mignon. Each cut was cooked to perfection. Two sides were ordered: mushrooms and butternut squash. The meal was cooked and presented to perfection. Looking forward to our next visit!

Yelp
Enjoyed a fabulous meal at Timber and Salt recently. Our table essentially ordered a variety of cuts of steak which were all cooked perfectly. Even better, the steaks are served with a butter or sauce option like chimmichuri, miso butter or red wine glaze. Because the meats are a la carte, we ordered a number of side dishes to share. The Brussel sprouts had great flavor and char. The street corn was also a palate pleaser. Each side dish easily serves 3-4 people. We paired the meals with cocktail specials to round out a great dinner enjoying the crispness of gin and tonic and the smoothness of the old fashion.

Yelp
We had so much fun at Timber and Salt prior to our Fox Theatre show and they were respectful of our time and served us well. The ultimate old fashion and pork belly bar were just the perfect prior snack bite and cocktail. Both very satisfying and tasty. We loved the bar atmosphere with the beautiful warm wood. I can't wait to return and dig into the dinner menu that has a wide selection.

Yelp
I came here on a date and we had drinks and appetizers! We split the fries and buffalo cauliflower, and they were both delicious! I especially enjoyed the fries and look forward to coming back to try other items on their menu. I had the Diamonds and Pearls mocktail and it was refreshing and delicious! I don't recall what my date ordered, but he had a cocktail and really enjoyed it as well. Our waitress was very charismatic and attentive! She answered our questions about the menu with ease and was very knowledgeable. I only take a star off because we were seated outside and it was difficult to tell what the ambiance and theme of the restaurant was. It looked like there were available tables inside, so I wish we had been seated in there. However, they did have outdoor heated lamps on a chilly and rainy night, so we weren't freezing even though we were outside!

Yelp
Pricey but worth it. Great special occasion place. Steaks were so good!! Desserts were a bit boring but that's ok, they were not bad. This place gets very crowded, definitely make a reservation.

Yelp
We came here before a show on a random Tuesday for the first time, and we really enjoyed ourselves! The service was great. Our server Brenden (?) was lovely. Great mix of warm, friendly, and casual service. I never felt like we were waiting around for his attention, but didn't feel pestered either. The wait for our food was a little long, but everything came out the correct temperature. I won't fault them because this place was POPPING on a random Tuesday. It had to have been a little unexpected. Most of the food we had was fine. We had aranchini balls, Brussels sprouts, wedge salad and a ribeye. The portions were a little weird. The amount of Brussel sprouts could feed 6, but everything else seemed like a 2 person portion. The only thing that was not fine was the steak. Oh. My. God. It was fantastic. The quality of the meat was incredible. The way the fat rendered made it look like lace. Like beautiful, beefy, fatty, meat lace. It was perfectly salted. Probably the only place I have ever been to at this price point that can properly salt a steak (a LOT!!! Stop skimping on the salt y'all!) the seat was perfect, but still a lovely medium rare. we have been raving about it all week. This is definitely a place I would recommend if you are in the area.

Yelp
Been here a few times, mostly for drinks late Friday nights. Cocktails are solid here but I was shocked that their menu has 0 vegetarian entrees. We had chosen this place for a business dinner where we knew one guest was vegetarian but in past menu photos they typically had at least one vegetarian option for entrees. They were unable to accommodate/ offer an alternative, and so our guest had to settle with 3 sides. I definitely felt pretty terrible about this and surprised this was the restaurant's menu selection- it's not as if things are out of season, it's springtime! The food was ok - I was eh on the ahi tuna (fresh but very salty!!) and deconstructed street corn was just ok. Ambiance is not bad but nothing special and on the louder side. There is outdoor heated seating though. Prices are steep for the serving size.
google avatar

Tiffani T.

Yelp
The drinks were good, steak was solid, sides were definitely mediocre. The poke was... not poke. There was peanuts crushed into the avocado which to their credit is mentioned in the menu, but there was just a lot more peanuts than I expected or felt made sense. I also think the tuna was cooked? Just an odd interpretation of poke in my opinion. Our server was nice enough but was interesting that he didn't have answers to our questions without running inside to confirm (but maybe he was new). Overall, it was a fine experience, but overpriced for what you get.

Yelp
We chose this place for dinner based on Yelp reviews and it didn't disappoint. The food and service were both great. He portions were very generous. We brought our own wine and paid a $30 corkage fee. Seems pricey but it's starting to be the average. I highly recommend it!

Yelp
Having been to Timber & Salt in RWC a few times now, I figured it's time for a review. For context, every dinner I've had here has been either a birthday dinner or going away dinner with friends. We sat outside two of the times and inside once. Between the two, I recommend sitting outside to enjoy the weather and there are heaters if it gets cold. We've pretty much ordered the same apps and entrees each time and they've been consistent. Some faves from our group are the burger and fries (perfectly crispy), roasted Brussels, spicy cauliflower, deviled eggs, and chicken Caesar salad. Cocktails shine here, love their old-fashioned and even the N/A drinks did not disappoint our group. Pros: Relaxing ambiance inside and out, cozy patio with heaters, consistent apps and entrees, and tasty strong drinks.

Yelp
Great spot in downtown RWC! Great mixologist, curating unique and delicious cocktails that pairs well with their delicious food! Love that they have a variety of dishes that meet different dietary needs! The service is always friendly and welcoming! Great outdoor dining aswell. It's located downtown right by the Cinemark!

Yelp
We came here with our kids as walk ins - the place we were going was full. All I can say is I am SO GLAD that we had to change plans and go to Timber and Salt. The food was amazing, the service was excellent, and the outdoor patio was warm and cozy. My older son, who is a very picky eater, devoured the steak. The younger one devoured his chicken, the fries were amazing, as was everything else. They have an "off menu" children's menu, which is nice. My wife and I split a wedge salad, she had mussels and I had a burger. All I can say is there were no bad parts to the meal - it was all outstanding and we will definitely be back.
google avatar

Angela P.

Yelp
Who doesn't love an app/side after work with a nice cocktail?!?! Portions are large and delicious -- service was excellent! My favorite was the street corn. Other items: Shrimp had a wonderful mild spicy kick. Brussels were similar to other yummy restaurant experiences. I wish the mashed potatoes had a bit more garlic flavor. I could have probably asked for this quick fix, but I was so hungry! Overall, I would definitely return and recommend to others.

Yelp
Timber and salt is a comfortable spot serving American fare, perfect for a date or happy-hour with a focus on steaks (the dry-aged, prime type), and a better than average Cocktail menu. I found this place after an exhaustive search for a happy hour spot with real food. After coming up short in San Carlos and Belmont, I was directed to timber and salt. My buddy and I walked in here around 630 on a Tuesday. The restaurant was buzzing - fully occupied inside, with a few tables outdoors. We were seated immediately in the outdoor area which was warm and comfortable despite the cold weather. With a quick peruse of the cocktail menu we both settled on an old fashioned. The drink came in a few minutes, it was well blended and most of all - strong. We moved to pick some apps - arancini and mahi mahi then we ordered a wedge salad, filet and ribeye. The apps came after a few minutes. We started eating the cold apps and found it pleasant with the freshness and seasoning on the fish. In contrast the arancini were piping hot, and crispy but perfectly tender and moist in the middle. The mains came and I was pleasantly surprised to find the filet I ordered had a very pronounced and even crust, they aren't lying about their steaks being broiled at very high heat. On top of that, it was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Though it didn't need it, the demiglace was a very welcome addition to flavor the steak. My buddies also enjoyed his ribeye - he remarked it was a little too done from what he asked, the steak was delicious. Though we were fully satisfied with the mains "there's always room for dessert". I opted for some digestif beverages, which were very well balanced and did the trick. All the whole our service was very prompt, well timed while being unobtrusive. It truly was a perfect evening between food and ambiance, especially for the price. Timber and salt delivers steakhouse quality meat and cocktails at a fraction of their prices, allowing them to punch well above their weight. For anybody looking to do a fancier happy hour, or less stuffy date night, this is a must-try!

Yelp
Barbeque menu Sundays only They ran out of brisket by the pound the night we were there so we opted for the brisket sandwich instead, with a side of coleslaw. Glad we did, because it was delicious. We also got their pulled pork by the pound. Very juicy meat, can't wait to go back for more bbq!

Yelp
Been meaning to come here a number of years. With a relatively small and changing menu, it had been difficult finding the right time to bring our large party over and having something for everyone. It turned out the better way was for just the wifey and me to go! And it was the right decision as the restaurant itself is relatively small. They do have an outdoor patio that we may take advantage of when the weather gets warmer. If, we decide to come back. First off, everything we ordered was good tasting and of a great portion. What an eclectic offering of dishes. Calabrian Chile Arancini was fried goodness, with a heat filled soft interior. My T&S Burger was good perfectly (medium rare), good tasting, and very filling. There was an abundance of fries that accompanied it. Simple but good. The wifey's KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) was interesting but very delicious. There was none of that dish left to take home! So, why 3 stars? Simply put, service. Too slow for my taste. I had to remind our server several times for sweetener, an ice tea refill, etc. I do not even recall her coming over after our entrees were delivered to see how everything turned out. There was not a check up while we were eating our entrees either. It took so long to get our dessert menu that we decided to pass on it even though we were really interested in one of them.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and service was great. Timber & Salt is the perfect place to eat before a show at the Fox or even before/after a movie at Century.

Yelp
Stopped in for appetizers/light dinner before going to the movie theater next door. The food was great - esp the Calabrian chili arancini and the roasted brussel sprouts - they are a solid 5*. We e also shared buffalo cauliflower (okay - but then I'm not a fan of buffalo sauce) and the falafel entree (also okay). Drinks looked great, but I didn't have one. Good outdoor seating, friendly service and good staff. Would definitely come again!

Yelp
Came in around 5:30pm on a Thursday with a group of 8 who slowly trickled in. The waitress was really nice and accommodating to our later guests. I got the Lovers Rock ($15) and loved it! Slight rose flavor, and stronger ginger flavor but still light overall. I also tried the Sweetest Taboo ($15), which was so intriguing with its ube, coconut, and jackfruit flavors. The drink was milky, and had a unique sweet taste. It tasted like taro milk tea! Was very surprised by this drink. We also got the Pork Belly Bun ($16 for 3), crispy Brussel Sprouts ($13), and Fried Chicken Wings ($17 for 8). All were amazing, with the favorite being the Brussel sprouts that was slightly sweetened with the apple citrusy gastrique and payed over the melted, creamy whipped goat cheese. Pork belly was thick and had a slight kick from the aioli. And the wings were extremely tender with a crisp edge. Overall, loved the environment, service, drinks, and food!

Yelp
We have never been disappointed coming here. We have been here several times now and really enjoy the food and drinks. The service is outstanding too.

Yelp
Came in around 9pm was greeted and seated promptly. The small drawback was the different menu. It seems that the kitchen probably wants to wrap up early so the last 2 hrs or so of service you get a different menu. I saw people around me with the steak and salmon but unfortunately those options s weren't available when I came in The cocktails were delicious and the food was seasoned well and delicious. The service was top notch the wait staff was personable and mingled with the guest you get a genuine welcoming feeling. Next time I'll get there earlier..
google avatar

Lindsay L.

Yelp
The food here is fun and the cocktails are even better! I like getting a lot of appetizers but I tried the burger once as well and it was great. The outdoor space is really nice. Inside it's a little darker and more intimate. The service has always been good!

Yelp
So Timber and Salt does it again! Thanks to amazing ownership, mixologists & staff- our date night dinner was nothing less of superb. (Sorry no pics!). Started with warm marinated olives and deviled eggs, hubby had Korean chicken with green beans - I had the double smash burger with fries, no bun. So we swapped side dishes and it was perfect! Hubby ordered the "Fool's gold" cocktail in artfully presented Tiki glass. You have to come here. Period.
google avatar

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Decent place but wouldn't go back. The fried chicken was a spin off southern food with spicy sauce. It was a bit too greasy for me. The burger is ok but not exceptional. On the saucy side. Good service.

Yelp
The food was excellent. The staff was so kind and attentive. Great portion sizes and eating spaces. I cannot wait to go again.

Yelp
All the food was delicious. I loved the Brussels sprouts and lamb meatballs we had for appetizers. Salmon was incredible and smash burger delicious. Drinks and service were great too! Highly recommend!

Yelp
(whoops, a bit too early to hit Post Review, therefore this is edited!) I was suddenly craving a restaurant burger, not fast food burgers, and therefore stumbled upon Timber & Salt when I had a 7PM movie showing right next door at Cinemark (convenient!). Came here on a Tuesday evening around 6PM and got seated really quickly outside. There wasn't much people as expected for the early weeknight and that's exactly how I like it. I wonder how busy this place gets on the weekends because of how beautiful the interior is. Their outside patio seating was also covered and well decorated. Gave me the feel of a classy restaurant but also casual in a sense? I don't know if that even makes sense...anyways... The food was great! The burger tasted just how I imagined and craved, juicy and saucy. My initial bite made me go WOW and I really liked it! It is messy, but c'mon, you're eating a fat burger! Nothing really special about the fries. As for the brussel sprouts, I only ordered it because my lady wasn't feeling particularly hungry that night and I personally don't know how to cook brussel sprouts well (not to mention how healthy they are). These were cooked well to my liking, crispy on the outside but not super dry on the inside. Not much else to say because I cannot cook them well...so idk, perhaps I'm not qualified to judge it. Service-wise, fast and attentive. The servers, especially our waitress, came back just in time every moment for what we needed. Albeit it was slow at the restaurant, but I liked how they still did their part in clearing the table, filling water, and asking how the food is. I appreciate these gestures in customer service as I come from that background as well. My only gripe was for the waiter who brought us our brussel sprouts. While placing it on the table, one fell on the table. We thought he would pick it up and throw it out...but with his bare hands, he grabbed it and tossed it back into the plate. Um...bare hands... Even if he washed his hands, in front of a customer, it's considered unsanitary and it already dropped on the table. Otherwise, great date night spot and in a great location in downtown Redwood City. I'd come back here again if I'm craving a burger before my movie!

Yelp
Came here for quick Sunday night family dinner and was really really pleasantly surprised by the bbq menu and quality of food. We have not been able to explore downtown RWC much since moving here with two little ones but I had heard mixed things about Timber & Salt. I wanted to give it a try and honestly was really surprised with my meal. We ordered fries, brisket, potato salad and drinks and honestly the brisket was better than Capellos we loved the meal and can't wait to come back. The hostess "Red" was so sweet and went the extra mile to accommodate our family. Love it!

Yelp
This place is perfect for a date night! Service was great and all the dishes I got were rlly good and fairly priced. Overall, would come back again. Buffalo cauliflower $15 8/10: this plate was HUGE lol. The perfect appetizer to share among a group. Very flavorful and I especially loved the sauce on top. Dry aged New York steak $45 9/10: YUM this was my favorite dish of the night. The steak was 14 oz and it was the perfect portion to share with my boyfriend. We were both so stuffed lol. Steak was so tender, fatty, and juicy. I especially loved the herb butter and mashed potatoes on the side! I didn't like the corn mixture on the side, had a strong funky cheesy taste.

Yelp
Have walked by this place so many times but never gone to dinner - and now that we have we should have done this long ago!! With our group of 7 we decided to get a wide variety of dishes, and every single one was great. Loved the mix of cuisines, from southern fried chicken with grit and collard greens to a flavorful steak and deconstructed Mexican street corn. Watch out for spice though if you have members who don't take spice -- ask which dishes that are spiced. I was the only one who got a cocktail - nice and strong, and all of the drinks have such fun names!! We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Came by dinner the other night and it was a tasty experience! Made a reservation via OpenTable and our indoor table was ready upon arrival. They also have a really nice outdoor heated patio section too! Parking was available in city-owned garages, surface lots, or on the street. The interior of the restaurant was pretty dimly lit. Our waitress throughout the evening was fantastic! Started off with the ahi tuna appetizer and the super light and fluffy crisps, which was a perfect combination! The texture was on point with the assortment of nuts over the ahi tuna! Moved on to the crispy brussel sprouts and they were tasty, although a touch burnt from the frying. The bavette steak was definitely the highlight of the meal. The steak was requested medium rare and most of it came out as such. The steak itself was flavorful and tender. I loved the sides of crushed potatoes, mushrooms, and vegetables! ~$40/head after tax and gratuity for dinner.

Yelp
Celebrated a special birthday this time, and I'll admit... I get nervous going back to Timber & Salt after a hiatus because I don't know how the menu changed, if I'll like the new menu, or if I'll just yearn for the days with their previous menu items. This menu introduced new favorites for me! -- Food: Beer battered shrimp tacos: comes with 3 but you can choose to add a 4th for $6. The tortilla was a little soggier than anticipated (hard to avoid when you have fresh pico), but everything else was so wonderful! Tortilla, a little bed of shredded cabbage, pico de gallo salsa, green sauce (like a guacamole/avocado purée), crumbled cheese, lime wedges. Each flavor popped out but also blended so wonderfully with each other. Filling, but not overly heavy! NY Steak ($45): doesn't say how many oz, but I figured I could just order more food if I didn't find it filling enough. MAN--this thing was HUGE! It was seared perfectly to a crisp on the outside, bursting with flavor even without anything topping it, and so wonderfully med rare on the inside. You're not just getting a steak--you're getting a masterpiece! The butter/sauce on top was like a bleu cheese, basil, pesto-y butter? So good, could eat it as spread on regular bread and be happy with it! The mashed potatoes on the side were soft and flavorful, not gritty or chunky. There were potato chips (they looked house-made!!) stuck in the mashed potatoes, seasoned with a light Cajun-like seasoning. I loved it!!! Not like your regular Lay's... BETTER! Also, a little cast-iron filled with smoked bacon cream corn :) for $45, I feel like I got more than what I was expecting and everything made me very happy. -- Drinks Kiss You Back: a scotch-based drink with my favorite ingredients--elderflower, lychee, and grapefruit!! A light, fruity, fun drink is always something I look for, and I was interested to see this wasn't vodka based like most restaurants would make it. I'm not a scotch person at all, but I couldn't skip out on my elderflower, lychee, and grapefruit! So I did it. I got the kiss you back, and I didn't feel like it was a glass of scotch. It was a light scotch taste with each of the other flavors balancing out how "dark" and "heavy" scotch tastes to me! I felt like I was dancing between sunlight and shadows on a beautiful day. Guava Cider: I don't like beer. Period. But! This guava cider was SO GOOD!! A little fruity, a little beer-y, and a little bubbly. -- Kelley and the rest of the staff (hostess, bussers) were so attentive. I love that they never make you feel rushed, clear AND WIPE your table between dishes (I drop a lot of food l o l), and refill your water without you having to flag someone down. It's the simple things that help you feel like you can truly enjoy and appreciate your dining experience. -- We didn't have enough space in our bellies for a dessert from the actual menu, so Kelley was kind enough to give us just a scoop of ice cream with a sea salt caramel drizzle on top for celebrating the birthday! Perfect way to end this night and this meal. -- Love this place, and excited to see what new spins they have on their menu next time!

Yelp
We were looking for a late night dinner and found this place on Open Table. Located across the street from Box, this conveniently located to nearby parking lots and parking structure. One of my favorites was the Shaking Beef Salad. This is no ordinary side salad...it was a full meal! Beef was beautifully sliced thin and it had some good heat from the chiles. I should have asked for more dressing on the side because it was delicious. You MUST get the Housemade Potato Gnocchi. It was awesome! Im you can definitely taste the truffle oil and it paired nicely with the Serrano ham and peas. For drinks, I got the d set pecisl if the day. It was a gin and tonic with their housemade gin (I forgot the name), topped thyme sprigs..who knew it would be so good?!?

Yelp
This place has horrible food and drinks. I think the only thing good was the cauliflower Buffalo and that's it. Maybe the pork belly. Had a burger and it was flavorless. Had salmon and it was fishy. Mash potatoes not cooked all the way and gnocchi was so tiny and came with a weird sauce so not traditional The mixed drinks were also not good. Would not go again. Overpriced.

Yelp
We didn't start off on a great footing when we were told there was no outdoor seating after we had made the reservation specifically for that. No tables for our small group. We were given a table near the front door, which was ok but, again, expectations were different. If you are not there for an array of unusual cocktails, the menu itself seems pretty limited. Lots of very rich combinations of foods. Two of us had the chicken salad and two the bayette steak. Both were good, but after having read all the great reviews, we expected more. Staff were friendly and service was fine, prices are high. We were there on a night that wasn't too busy so the bar was empty. Not sure if we'd come back.

Yelp
Did not like the food unfortunately, Victoria and David were great though with the conversation but food was bad, price point is too high. Also I was choking on the steak because it was not correctly made, while i was choking no one at the restaurant those who were working came to help me, it was a really bad choke and the second time when the meat came it was equally chewy but the hostess was really rude in her tone, I could feel it, so I did not say anything. Expected much better service and quality overall, me choking aside, that was a horrible traumatic experience.

Yelp
- Food was okay, decent. We had the choice to either grab some pizza next door or enjoy a sit down dinner....we chose Timber & Salt - Ambiance was very nice, ate outside, weather at night was perfect - Service from the red-headed lady (with tats on her arm)....she was weird and rude. Staring (we felt judged by our appearance). Not smiling. Needs to learn some basic customer service skills...it was obvious she didn't want to help us right off the bat....we observed she was super nice to the couple next to us and was making conversations with them. Sorry if she was having a bad night and decided to take it out on us, but Lady-maybe this isn't the right job for you. Go get a job stocking up the food items on the shelf at Safeway or Whole Foods where you don't have to deal with customer service because you have zero skills in this area overall, it's a No for us. We won't be returning due to the overall experience

Yelp
The food and service here are great, I absolutely love the pork belly bao. I have no idea how they make the pork so moist and crispy. But the reason why I come back weekly is for the bartender. He makes the most interesting and delicious cocktails I have ever had. He curates mixtures of such interesting flavors that have take me out of my comfort zone but always leave me pleasantly satisfied. Never too sweet or too boozy, often very experimental. He's always introducing seasonal fruits and ingredients which I love and I feel like I have had exposure to things I never would have tried before. The presentation is always great too and makes me smile with cool glasses and garnish but also twisty straws and bottled proprietary flavors. I love this guy, I would follow him to any bar he worked at

Yelp
Before dinner in RWC we stopped by for some drinks and I am glad we did. Our wives ordered the non-alcoholic drinks and my friend and I ordered from the cocktails menu. Smooth Operator: 4/5. No, I really don't think that this drink name reflects me, but I really enjoyed it. I normally drink scotch on the rocks, but the different liquors in this drink made for a very enjoyable drink. Along with the scotch I mainly tasted sage, but not much of the other flavors.
