Time has been our list for a while, and after my husband's work trip to New Orleans, he had the jazz bug so this was the perfect place to celebrate his birthday! We made reservations for a Saturday night for the cocktail bar so we could enjoy the peak jazz and nightly ambience. We were glad there were no issues with res and many spots available! The space is pretty cool - lots of speakeasy vibes which makes for a fun environment. The seating was a bit more scarce than expected but still spacious enough to space out. We were seated in the back of the restaurant, which was nice to be a little bit more removed from the music but unfortunately we were right by the kitchen, so we had a lot of employee traffic by our table. No big deal, though! Even being so far from the music, it was still quite loud but as relatively young people, we were expecting this and didn't overly mind, although it was sometimes hard to hold conversation. It all added to the ambience, though!
Since we were at the cocktail bar, we started off with some drinks for the night. I started with the stardust, and my husband with the sazerac. The stardust was so refreshing - after getting over all the ice and the largeness of the glass, I loved the mix of the sour lemon and grapefruit with the sweet champagne. A nice drink! My husband loved his sazerac and was taken back to his time in New Orleans! We wound up getting second rounds since we were so much enjoying their menu. My second was the foe-hammer, and his was the black Manhattan. Compared to the stardust, the foe-hammer was presented in the cocktail vibe I'm more familiar with (lol, not as much ice). This one was far sweeter than the first, so I'm glad I had this as my "dessert" drink. The lime and pomegranate raspberry balanced each other out and the mint was the perfect finish. My husband really enjoyed his Manhattan - with the amaro and walnut liqueur, it was unlike anything any other Manhattan he's had before. Well done!
For food, we just shared a few small plates, opting for the spicy blistered green beans, the fried calamari, and the whipped Bulgarian feta. The green beans were fine - nothing too special and not overly exciting. I did like the Asian take on the dish with the ginger and soy, but nothing to write home about. The fried calamari was also pretty standard fare, although the Calabrian chili garlic aioli was a unique dipping sauce to pair with, so we enjoyed that. The favorite dish by far though was the whipped feta - with beets, berries, and mint, we loved the inclusion of fruits and veggies with this creamy cheese! Only downside was the few pita slices plated for the amount of cheese we had, but our server was kind enough to provide us extra. These few dishes with our drinks made for a good cocktail-esque meal!
Overall, we enjoyed our night at Time! The live jazz made for an awesome ambience, and while loud at times, we loved being submerged in this environment. The drinks were the standout on the menu, and I would definitely recommend the foe-hammer to any guest. The food was relatively standard in comparison, but I would totally get the whipped feta again. Would recommend Time to anyone looking for a jazz date night paired with some great cocktails!
