Oh boy, where to start with this? Tldr; we had awkward service and subpar food throughout the entire experience. I used to frequent the old Tin Lizzy's location that was just down the street for both dine in and takeout, so this is disappointing to me. Definitely not too keen on coming back here.
We went around 5pm on a Friday for their happy hour. Place should have been popping, but it really wasn't, which may have been the first red flag.
Service: Waitstaff was undertrained. We come in, the greeter stares at me, and then when we say we want to sit outside for happy hour, they gesture over to the door without walking us over or anything. By the patio door, there's another guy who stares at us when the proper thing to do would probably be to ask what we need. We get seated outside and there's no menus, not even a qr code on the table. Waitress asks us if we want anything other than water for drinks, but we have not been offered any drink or food menu yet. We ask for it, and get their $20 happy hour tlc pitcher and fried pickles. After that, our waitress keeps checking in on us, perhaps too much? Like every 10 minutes, asking if we'd be ready to order more food, when it should have been pretty obvious for the time we came and what we said, that we were just there for a quick happy hour. Finally, I just told her after the 5th check-in that we were just interested in happy hour and the check-ins stopped. Then, when the bill came, we noticed we were overcharged by $12 for the marg pitcher (but we definitely came between 4-6pm on a Friday). By that point, our card was already swiped and we just wanted to get out of there so we didn't contest it.
Food: We got the...
1. TLC marg pitcher - really sugary and low in alc content
2. Fried pickles - wayyyy too salty. It was like they added additional salt to the breading on top of how salty the pickles already were. They were fried well, but it was hard to finish.
Ambience:
I would sum this up as a restaurant pretending to be something it's not. At the old location, the lighting was darker, it was bit more grimey and lowkey, and honestly, it was great for late night food and a comfortable, casual, feel. With this revamp, you walk in and it's really cute. It makes you even want to dress up a little or consider it for brunch. High ceilings, bright lighting, and a lot of modern finishes on the bar and lighting fixtures. However, once you sit down, in particular I am talking about the patio, you notice that it's still grimey. Half the chairs with stains on them, tables that are unbalanced, unprofessional menu presentation (qr code taped onto those black folders you get your bill on), and waitstaff that was underprepared. If this revamp of Tin Lizzy's is meant to be an upgrade on the experience, then I would highly recommend making sure the experience matches that by offering better training for the waitstaff and paying attention to the little details. Otherwise, it sets your customers up to be let down.
As always, I encourage people to try anywhere at least once and form your own opinions! This was just my experience, in particular with happy hour and the patio area. I hope other customers have a more positive experience, and I also hope for improved training and attention to detail at this location.
