Tinto Review - Rittenhouse - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"When it comes to dining out as a group, everyone’s got an opinion. We get it, and have a full guide for such occasions. If you want to keep things simple though, Tinto is a solid option with plenty of different tapas to choose from, along with over 100 different wines. Head over during Happy Hour for $5 sangria and selected tapas at the bar on the main floor, or you can sit down for a full meal in the downstairs dining room." - Jordan Price

Tinto is an interesting experience and I don't mean it in a negative way. As you walk in , you get that feeling of being in somebody's living room. The place is nicely decorated and a blend between homey and a bit of kitsch. We happen to sit on the front sofa which is rather cool as you can watch the world go by while enjoying some morsels of good food. We kept our indulgence at a minimum and ordered two appetizers and one main. I really enjoyed the roasted eggplant dish and the cold meze platter. For the main we had the beef stew. Mixing the rice pilaf with the stew and salad brought out the flavour of that dish. Cute place and nice service.

Walked by here and it smelled delicious so we walked in for dinner. Luckily we followed our noses as the food was delicious! We got the Mahi Polo pictured as well as the lamb shank. Both were great and I highly recommend!

Google
A cute place to have a glass of wine, chat with a friend, connect with someone you just met or just simply watch the busy world goes by. Food is decent and the owner is friendly..

Google
Food was excellent, the proprietor is easily one of the most charasmatic and hostipable people, insisted on feeding us more than we ordered and kept coming back to top up our drinks. Highly recommend the kashke bademjan

This is the worst Persian food we ever ate. It's possibly the worst restaurant we've ever been to. The lamb shank was not fresh, to say the least. The Gheimeh was stale and old. The rice was also dried out and obviously not fresh. The kashk-bademjoon we're not sure what it was, but didn't have any kashk. The service was extremely slow, mostly because it was a one man show. We're used to high prices in SF, but this was egregious. After spending over 100 per person, we went back home to eat something because the food was so terrible.

So glad to see this hidden gem reopen! Intimate wine bar perfect for a cozy night cap. We melted right into the sunken sofa in front but the formal dining area looks just as inviting for the menu revamp the owner says is coming next week.

Google
Very lovely place to have a glass of wine. A bonus is the Persian food. I had a split pea stew and it tasted very homemade. Very nice presentation too.

Yelp
Worst dining experience ever! My boyfriend, his parents and I were visiting from out of town and found this cute spot. As we were waiting for food my boyfriend saw a RAT run to the back of the restaurant. We informed the workers and they brushed it off like it was nothing. When we were brought our waters the man working spilled some so he came with the most filthiest rag to clean up the mess. Looked like he had been cleaning a car with that rag. When we were brought the bill we were overcharged and denied a receipt. The man followed us out of the restaurant with change they forgot to give us and said "thank you for the tip" with attitude. We did not tip as I think overcharging us $16, the loose rat, and dirty environment was plenty of tip.Terrible place wouldn't recommend anyone to eat here.

Yelp
A cute new spot on valencia! My roommates came for after work drinks and it was the perfect spot, and service was amazing. We got to sit next to a huge window that looks out onto the street and it was the perfect set up. The food was great, a lot more than we thought there'd be! It's new and upcoming, the owner is the sweetest. Will come back!

Yelp
Had the loveliest time with my mom tonight! We shared a flight of wines ($20 for 3 pours) and surprisingly fresh & light food. The bruschetta was divine! My only wish was that our food had paired better with our wine - however the ambiance and attentiveness of the staff was superb. Thank you!

Yelp
We happened upon this bar late last night and what a wonderful gem of a place. First off the owner Ali, is such a welcoming, warm, youthful soul that brings joy to his beautiful wine bar. This place opened less than a year ago, but already has regulars enjoying a nice glass of wine, with an inviting ambiance. The wine itself was magnificent! Ali has some special bottles that are sold out elsewhere and has such a wide variety to fit anyone's tastes. We tried the Syrah (so good a 2004 bottle and the last of the barrel) Chardonnay, super refreshing, and the Pinot, light and fruity. In addition to a wide selection of wines, he also has tapa like foods (we had the charcuterie) and it was AMAZING -- delicious cheeses, and ingredients sourced fresh. SF doesn't have very many homey wine bars, but I'm so glad we stumbled on this hidden gem that is truly one of its kind!

Yelp
Such an odd space for a wine bar-- a bit too big maybe-- but after a warm welcome and some discussion about my wine flight by the proprietor, who is a wine importer as well, I settled in and started to see how this might be exactly the place to relax over a nice selection of wine and food. I ordered the GHEYMEH BADEMJAN which is a slow cooked beef stew with a side of aromatic sumac infused sauce, salad and rice. I could have ordered the charcuterie platter but realized that he had Persian cuisine so changed my plan. When it arrived, he informed me that everything is made to order. I think he felt like I may have been waiting too long but it is a wine bar so who comes here in a hurry! It was delicious, and, as I had ordered three different reds, it was an excellent match. After a while, he was joined by a lovely and kind woman who greeted me and then later brought me some melon. I ordered a glass of one of the reds that I enjoyed and spent a very pleasant rest of my evening there. It is lively by the windows which were open to the street-- you my choose to sit further back in the room to have more quiet. I had a book and don't mind a little random noise so sitting in the big couch in front was perfect. I am lucky to live nearby so plan to bring others next time. See you there!

Yelp
Great wine selection! We started with wine flights to try a few different things. We also got the lamb shank and the gormeh sabzi. Both were delicious and came with a mixed green salad and a large pile of long grain rice. Ali was very knowledgeable and recommended wines that paired well with the food. We will definitely return!

Yelp
Great wine, very friendly knowledgeable owner. Great place to kick back with friends and sip wine or have dinner. They even play Bad Bunny.

Yelp
This place is great and was needed in the Valencia, if you're a fan of red wine, the Cabernet Sauvignon is an absolute standout. This wine is a true delight for the senses, boasting rich, bold flavors and a velvety texture that's hard to resist. The Cabernet Sauvignon selection at Tinto is carefully curated, showcasing the best of this varietal. P.S Excellent service from the owner, made me feel like family!

Yelp
Family run Persian restaurant with a cozy ambiance and a good wine and beer list. The Keshmesh Polo was nutty and delicious, and the lamb shank was tender and flavorful. The dishes came with rice and a tangy salad. My 8 year old liked their fish and chips and was tempted by the build your own pizza on the menu. It's a nice addition to the neighborhood!

Yelp
Such a nice, calm, & cute place. The food was delicious & the owner, Ali, was so personable & really went out of his way to make us feel welcomed & cared for during our visit. Great place for a date and for a girls night! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Tinto Wine Bar surpassed my expectations and will become one of my new favorite spots in the city. My friends and I stumbled across this place while looking for a bar on Valencia street. The inside of the wine bar was decorated beautifully with plenty of seating as well. We got there later in the day and the owners were kind enough to open the kitchen up for us to order food, we got the fish and chips and the penne pasta and both were delicious and the portions were very generous. The wine was also great, we tried the Malbec. The best part however was the kind and friendly owners who frequently stopped by to check if we needed anything and for friendly conversation. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and will definitely be back!

Yelp
The food and ambiance are next to none. I got the bruschetta and charcuterie board and they were excellent. They are also the only supplier of 2004 Syrah which was exquisite. Ive gone back a few times to purchase just a bottle of Syrah to take home.

Sholeh J.

Yelp
Amazing Wine selection! The ambiance was very soothing, I didn't want to leave. We ordered the special of the day which was Lamb Shank with Saffron rice and it was incredible. Will definitely be adding Tinto to my roster!

Quiet wine bar in a great location on Valencia in the Mission. I really enjoyed the Cab Franc

Yelp
Great wine with super friendly staff and owner! We had flights, which is a fresh choice for trying the wine!

Yelp
This is the cutest new wine bar in the Mission, highly recommend stopping by! We met the owner and his son tonight and they couldn't be more welcoming and friendly and the ambiance is so inviting! Must try!
