"Price: $$$ Fans of Nancy’s Hustle will agree that its sister concept, Tiny Champions, is a massive win for Houston’s East End. Here, diners can indulge in 14-inch imaginative pizzas like its spicy salami topped with mozzarella, hot honey, and dollops of chevre ricotta garlic, and seasonal pizzas, like the Spring Onions pizza, which is layered with red spring onion cream sauce, fermented scallion, chives, and pecorino. Enjoy with a glass of wine, cider, or beer, or opt for one of its alcohol-free beers or mocktails, including its rich ricotta creamsicle, which features a passionfruit fizz. Must-try dish: The beans never come off the menu." - Brittany Britto Garley
"Tiny Champions helps you celebrate any wins, big or tiny. The East Downtown pizza, pasta, and all-around modern mostly-Italian restaurant from the folks behind Nancy’s Hustle has a full bar, a fast kitchen, and a massive covered patio. Split bowls of rigatoni bolognese, or pizzas covered in fennel sausage and creamy ricotta. Throw on some big bottles of beer or a crispy rosé with a group or someone special. How to get there: Drive (four minutes) or walk (17 minutes)" - chelsea thomas, gianni greene
"This East Downtown hangout offers diners a place to unwind with drinks, pizza, pasta, and more inventive dishes like fried quail served with a “fancy” ranch, hot honey, and dill, and cabbage salad served with pistachio apricot agrodolce. The menu changes seasonally, with fun renditions like a spring onions pizza with a red onion cream sauce and fermented scallion, and a pie that’s topped with greens from the season, ricotta cream sauce, mozzarella, roasted onions, and pickled garlic. Still, diners can always enjoy staples like the fennel sausage pie with red peppers or the classic rigatoni Bolognese. Venture out afterward to Tiny Champions’ more refined sister, Nancy’s Hustle, for the iconic Nancy’s Cakes and a pour from its robust wine list. Must-try dish: The cult-favorite braised butter beans served with charred pickled peppers for a kick, garlic toum, torn croutons, and a generous sprinkle of dill." - Brittany Britto Garley
"You’ll probably end up on the patio if you forgot to make a reservation at the pizza and pasta spot Tiny Champions. But on a (bearably) sunny day, the backyard is exactly where you’ll want to be. There’s something about Tiny Champs being in EaDo—it might be because of the lack of buildings around it—but there’s always a nice breeze. And the marble tables on the patio are so fancy that it doesn’t feel like a second rate place to eat at all. As a bonus, there’s a sprawl opportunity, especially on the picnic tables, that doesn’t happen inside because the dining room is, well, pretty tiny." - gianni greene, chelsea thomas
