Tiny Champions is a cozy, bohemian Italian eatery in East Downtown with a creative menu featuring fantastic pizzas, lively cocktails, and natural wines in a laid-back vibe.
"Looking to keep it low-key on a date? This East Downtown hangout offers diners a place to unwind with drinks, pizza, pasta, and more inventive dishes like the cult-favorite braised butter beans served with charred pickled peppers for a kick, garlic toum, torn croutons, and a generous sprinkle of dill. The menu changes seasonally, with fun renditions like a summer corn pizza with chile cream sauce, smoked mozzarella, and pickled green tomato. Still, diners can always enjoy staples like the fennel sausage pie topped with red peppers or the classic rigatoni Bolognese. If the night goes well, venture out afterward to Tiny Champions’ more refined sister, Nancy’s Hustle, for the iconic Nancy’s Cakes and a pour from its robust wine list." - Brittany Britto Garley, Nadia Gire

"From the team behind Nancy’s Hustle, Tiny Champions is a small-but-mighty EaDo neighborhood spot with a short but imaginative menu of pizza, pasta, and some serious sorbet. At this laidback space, you'll find mismatched chandeliers, cartoon portraits of well-dressed alligators, and a sizable patio in the back with covered picnic tables. The thinly shaved cremini mushroom salad is topped with parmesan the consistency of a cloud, and the kale greens on your ricotta pizza are crispy, charred, and the main reason the pizza disappears as quickly as it hits your table. This place can fill up pretty quickly, so either make a reservation, or cozy up with some hearty tomato risotto at the bar." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene
"Italian food at Tiny Champions is about as laid back and casual as it can get. The EaDo joint has a small-but-mighty menu with some familiar elements and a few twists. Have rigatoni bolognese in the dining room under a portrait of a well-dressed alligator, or sit on the patio and share a red-sauce pizza topped with fennel sausage with a few pals. Alternatively, kick it alone at the bar with a bowl of roasted mushroom risotto and a cleverly-named cocktail like “evil eye” and “nordic thunder.” Tiny Champs tends to fill up quickly, so make a reservation, or show up when they open and get in where you can fit in." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene
