The Best Ice Cream Shops in Portland, Oregon | Eater Portland

"Tipsy Scoop is the ice cream shop for those who’ve always dreamt of a frozen dessert with some buzz. The Boise shop is an outpost of the New York-based chain, with (of course) boozy flavors such as vanilla bourbon or marionberry vodka ice cream. The flavors are not all alcohol-inflected, as the 21-and-under can still partake in ice cream sans alcohol, and there are mocktail flavors on the menu as well." - Michelle Lopez

The Best New Restaurants in Portland, June 2025 | Eater Portland

"Tipsy Scoop is a New York–based chain that’s going national in the hopes that people will want ice cream that gets you drunk. Not like drunk drunk, since the ice cream here tops out at 5 percent ABV, but pair it with a cocktail — which Tipsy Scoop also serves — and you’ll get there. The Oregonian got an early taste before the early May opening and said the highlight here was that the alcohol makes the ice cream seem lighter, “almost like marshmallow ice cream.” You can’t even taste the alcohol on some flavors, like the exclusive-to-Portland marionberry, made with Wild Roots marionberry vodka." - Zoe Baillargeon

Absolutely fantastic experience! The service was exceptional, with attentive and welcoming staff who made us feel valued, even just an hour before closing. This spot is poised to become a Portland staple for years to come. I sampled a few flavors before opting for a flight, and the tequila hot chocolate stole the show-hands down my favorite, though every flavor was delicious and worth trying. I love that they offer plenty of vegan options too. I’ll definitely be back often!

Google
Solid ice cream with a boozy twist. Can't taste too much of the booze (for better or worse). The flavor wasn't bad at all and the concept is unique! Worth a stop if you're strolling on Mississippi and are looking for a different kind of night cap. 🍹🙌🏼 Line was a bit long but it kept moving. PSA: You (obviously) need to be 21+ to enjoy.

Google
A great new addition to the Mississipi food scene. I love the concept of boozy ice cream and Tipsy Scoop does a great product! I had the Vanilla Bean bourbon. Just the right touch of bourbon. They also have take-out pints. Support local business!! 😊🍦

Google
11/10!!! Not only was the ice cream good, but the staff were so nice, friendly and patient!! I went a week after they opened, on a Friday, and it was busy but the line moved pretty quickly. I got the Tequila sunrise sundae and a mango margarita cocktail (first picture). What really made this business standout was when I went a couples day later on Mother’s Day w/ my mom and they were sold out! (Great for them!) but as we stood out there, the owner came out and explained to us they were closed but only had a couple of flavors left and pints. He let us in and was able to make my mom an ice cream sundae with the flavors he had left (second pic)!!! It was such a great and kind gesture to really make Mother’s Day special 💜 will definitely be going back and have been recommending this place to all my coworkers since! Thank you Tipsy Scoop!!

Opening is finally here!! Been waiting since 2023 for this to finally open up! Everyone showed up and showed out for this event. Huge grand opening with live music, samples and lots of excitement. Tipsy started out on the east coast and PDX is their first west coast location. They've got boozy infused ice cream, sundaes, shakes, drinks and everything you could want. PDX is a great icecream town so this certainly fits in. The Mango Margarita, Pineapple Tequila, and Raspberry Lemoncello were awesome. Plenty of other great flavors to choose from. Staff was super kind and welcoming. Wishing them nothing but great success 🙌

Google
yummy! i’m not a big ice cream fan normally (due to working in a baskin robbins in my youth, ice cream overload!) but when i saw ice cream and booze, gotta try it out! so glad i did. ebony the owner was there, great service all around, very welcoming and friendly. had a flight and hands down the best flavors were raspberry limoncello and cake batter vodka, although they were all pretty tasty. cannot “taste” the alcohol, but not sure i wanted to. clean and cute place, quirky enough for portland to brag about! good job 👍🏻

Google
Tipsy Scoop on N Mississippi Ave, Portland, OR, is an absolute gem! This boozy ice cream “barlour” radiates fun with its vibrant, colorful decor and lively atmosphere—think eye-catching murals and a welcoming counter brimming with creative treats. I indulged in their signature flight of four scoops, featuring the Portland-exclusive Marionberry Vodka (vegan and gluten-free), Dark Chocolate Whiskey Salted Caramel, Raspberry Limoncello Sorbet, and Cake Batter Vodka Martini. Each scoop, infused with up to 5% ABV, perfectly balances creamy ice cream with cocktail-inspired flair. The Marionberry Vodka, crafted with local Wild Roots vodka, bursts with Pacific Northwest flavor, while the Dark Chocolate Whiskey Salted Caramel is pure decadence. I couldn’t resist their Spiked Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream sandwich, hugged by sprinkle-dusted cookies—almost too gorgeous to devour! The staff was warm and enthusiastic, offering samples and great pairing suggestions. Whether you’re craving a boozy sundae, a pint to take home, or a fun mixology class, Tipsy Scoop delivers a one-of-a-kind Portland dessert experience that’s sure to leave you smiling

Google
A fun place to visit on a weekend out and about. In a city with great ice cream, I was expecting some top notch ice cream, but it was pretty good. It was kind of busy, servers seemed overwhelmed. There were places to sit so got to hang out for a bit.

Yelp
Great vibes and staff, which helped take care of me and my family of five. They have alcoholic and non alcoholic scoops as well as drinks. We went three weeks after opening and they are still slammed. Even with the frequent foot traffic and demand they are pushing out a lot of items for people. Overall 10/10 food/experience, we will definitely be back.

Yelp
hands down the best i've cream i've ever had!! the customer service was amazing. very clean and great vibes! my new favorite place!

Yelp
Tastes just like regular ice cream! So yummy! Could hardly taste the infused liquor, Love the ice cream decor and very cool to sell little alcohol bottles to pair with your sundae. Want to give extra credit to the workers there, having to deal with a very busy crowd! They were so nice all evening and very helpful serving everyone, all smiles. The business owner was also very nice and excited for her business future! She got a sweet concept going on. The menu sounded great, and I thought I knew what I wanted until I got up there and then couldn't decide between three of them; I went with the tequila sunrise. The whiskey dreams was a close second. I did get a sample of the whiskey salted caramel and was literally to die for! I wish I could eat every sundae and not feel bad about myself. I'll just have to visit weekly till I get through them all ;) Open all week from 11am-11pm, located down off Mississippi AVE- very busy area (parking can be difficult). It'll be great to enjoy dinner and then dessert on date night.

Yelp
Tipsy scoop was a fun place to try. The concept of boozy ice cream is unique and lends itself to a pleasant textural experience. The alcohol just does something wonderful to already delicious ice cream. The service was great. We were the only ones there and so we were able to casually taste several flavors. Everything was good but only one or two really tasted like it had alcohol. I'm usually not a sorbet guy but those flavors definitely tasted more like what I was expecting. We settled on a sundae for my wife's birthday. It was ok. They put it in their signature glass (which we have a voucher for because they were out). Problem is, it's a bit hard to get the ice cream. I would have liked some more toppings. Skip the small doughnut on top. They have something for everyone, including the kids and folks who don't drink. Definitely worth checking out.

Yelp
The GOOD - Great flavors and texture of the sherbets - You can taste just the right amount of alcohol, not too overbearing and not completely drowned out by the ice cream either - Tried the mango, strawberry, and raspberry. The mango and strawberry were my favs! - Personally liked the COCKTAILS more than the sundaes which were basically a few scoops of ice cream, a few gummies, with a bit of booze on top, kinda like a float but with more ice cream. - Vibes were great and love how they're open till 11pm OTHER THOUGHTS - I like the idea of the sundae but not sure if I liked the default menu options. Curious if they are customizable. Would be nice if it was a DIY kinda thing! OVERALL I'd come back for the cocktails because the sundae doesn't have much alcohol poured in and had a bunch of toppings I wasn't interested in. Great flavors and texture. Would like to see more customization options for the sundaes.

Yelp
Full disclosure (again): I am not an ice cream guy, so this review is a second-hand experience, based on my wife's input...and if I can trust her, so can you! Indecisiveness firmly took hold as she made her way to the counter; unable to choose just one flavor, she ordered the $18 boozy flight, selecting the whiskey caramel, Mexican hot chocolate, marionberry vodka, and spiked hazelnut coffee. Out of the four, the one she expected to enjoy the least, the whiskey caramel, was her favorite, although she said all of them were amazing, and definitely wants to return again in the future! The alcohol content is low enough to almost be undetectable, which can be good, bad, or dangerous, depending on your tolerance level. The cocktails and sundaes seemed a bit much for our tastes (she has a moderate capacity for sugar consumption, whereas mine is nearly non-existent), so the flight was absolutely the right choice for us; your mileage may vary. The staff were wonderful from start to finish, the interior décor is minimal, clean and spacious, but fills up easily when there is a crowd or a line (which is frequent). There was, however, a strange odor about the interior of the building that I could not identify, that encouraged me to grab one of the outside tables instead. Another reviewer said it smelled like moth balls; I cannot say with certainty whether or not this is the case, but I can definitively say that didn't like it. Excellent operating hours for us night owls (any place open past 9:00 PM is a winner in my book (11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, daily), great location, amazing staff, and a unique and delicious dessert, all combine together to make Tipsy Scoop as delectable as an ice cream sundae...with a little booze as the cherry on top!

Yelp
After seeing this place on Instagram, it was on our "must try" list while in town. I'm not sure if the employee's name but she was sooo sweet, patient, and kind. I was a bit overwhelmed with the menu and had so many questions. I ultimately went with the Tequila Sunrise Sundae since it was a sorbet and my husband got the Whiskey Dreams - both were delicious and we didn't really taste the alcohol until we got to the bottom

Yelp
The place was clean and like the mural art they put on the wall n neon light as it makes it fun. I ordered the Old Fashion Sundae and like how they decorate all the sundaes which made it fun. Bite into it I can taste the alcohol but of course this wont make you drunk but you can enjoy the flavor at the same time. It was good but too sweet for my taste but I would say this is more of a personal preference. I would say presentation is awesome and couldn't decide which one I want. I also like how they have no alcohol option for kids. They have a fridge that you can purchase alcoholic to non alcoholic beverages.

Yelp
Let me tell ya Tipsy Scoop Portland is such a fun and unique spot, It's often crowded, but the colorful vibe, friendly staff, and amazing ice cream make it worth it. Their liquor-infused flavors are delicious, and they also offer non-alcoholic options perfect if you're with kids or just not in the mood for booze. Having gone to Tipsy Scoop twice and tried the delivery option once you won't be disappointed.Their space is bright and welcoming, and there's even a cool "bar glass" special where you get a free branded glass with certain scoops. They offer yogurt, delivery, and even mixology classes and the best service so it's a great stop for anyone looking for a sweet treat with a twist. I definitely recommend.

Yelp
With all the hype surrounding this place, I had high hopes and it sounded like such a cool concept however, it's not a place I would visit on a regular basis. It was fun but very expensive and I agree with other yelpers that it did have a very odd smell when you walked in, which is not something you would expect from an ice cream place.

Yelp
I came here on a date for some ice cream. I appreciate the variety of favors to include dairy free, vegan, gluten free and booze/nonalcoholic options. I landed on the marionberry with vodka after trying a sample of that and mango margarita. Overall a nice little spot to grab something sweet and cold on a nice day while in this area

Yelp
What a wonderful experience at Tipsy. There is nothing better than being treated with a smile! I had never been there before but I was treated with patience and got lots of explanations on the different options, offered taste on most off of the ones I wanted to try. Price was very reasonable as well. I'll go back !

Yelp
I was so excited to try this place while visiting the area. I took a Lyft over and as soon as I walked in there was an overwhelming smell of moth balls. It was so awful I started to get a headache and had to sit outside. Even sitting outside the wafts of it was so strong I asked the person I was with if we could leave. I'm not sure why or how anyone would electively sit in that smell. But, there was a line inside and patrons just eating their orders as if there was not an awful smell. I know I wasn't alone because another couple outside agreed to it and also had a headache from it. The people behind the counter were pleasant and chatty holding up the line at the cashier area so that was a tad much, too. I hope someone sees this review and remediation that ASAP. Overall the inside was clean and pretty but the smell. Ick.

Yelp
Cute concept with delicious ice cream, fun nonalcoholic options for kids or non-drinkers. Tons of different choices in general. Friendly, hard-working staff. Next time I will definitely add a shot to my ice cream as I like a stronger taste.

Yelp
Marionberry Vodka - 6/10 Spiked Hazelnut Coffee - 10/10 Raspberry Limoncello Sorbet - 10/10 Mango Margarita Sorbet - 8/10 Strawberry White Sangria Sorbet - 9/10 Price: A single scoop runs about $8, but you're better off going for 2-3 scoops for $10-15. Not bad at all, especially since all the ice creams are alcohol-infused! They also offer non-alcoholic versions, which are just as tasty. Service - 5/5 The staff here are incredibly friendly and genuinely excited to walk you through all the flavors. The energy was top-tier the entire visit. Bonus points for staying this upbeat with hours from 11 AM to 11 PM! Ambiance - 5/5 The place is filled with natural light thanks to the surrounding windows. It's perfect for soaking in the sun while enjoying your frozen treat. They even have a free photo booth, which adds a fun touch! Parking: There's no dedicated lot, so you'll need to find street parking. Luckily, street parking in the area is free!

Yelp
Came in late on a Friday and it was still busy which was a good sign but the line moved quick! This place rocks! The flavors are incredible!! I had the spiked hazelnut coffee ice cream it was to die for, I can't wait to try more flavors in the future! So happy this place opened up.
google avatar

Ivan J.

Yelp
The ice cream is amazing, you can definitely taste the alcohol but not overpowering, that you can't taste the flavor of the ice cream. Really good customer service and friendly.

Yelp
Vibe? Top tier. This place nails the balance between fun and straight chill. The boozy ice cream options are , especially the spiked hazelnut, raspberry, limoncello and vanilla bean bourbon (my personal faves). Staff is super nice, welcoming and happy to offer samples. Whether you're hanging out with some friends or just treating yourself, it's a whole experience. Definitely a sweet spot worth visiting.

Juan T.

Yelp
The ice cream is absolutely delicious!! Make sure you order a flight. You get a variety of flavors. My personal favorite is the Mango Margarita

Diane A.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place but it turned out very disappointing. The boozy ice cream tasted like it was only infused with fake flavorings. Everything just tasted so fake. While I know this place is suppose to be known for boozy ice cream, the non alcoholic ice cream was the biggest disappointment. It was umpqua ice cream for $8 a tiny scoop. And I mean tiny scoop. See the picture of the scoop size, not one bite was taken out of it. Over all this whole place was a huge disappointment.
google avatar

Yelp
Boozy ice cream is delicious, all flavors are unique and savory. There is also alcohol free ice cream btw:)

Steph Z.

Yelp
Very cool concept and the presentation was on point. I ordered a signature sundae, the Mojito creamsicle. They ran out of the spiked mint chip, so it wasn't a 'mojito' anymore but I was able to sub it with another ice cream of my choice. I picked the strawberry sangria. It was good sorbet flavors but I couldn't taste the liquor - so that was a bummer. I wanted to get a semi buzz ;) they did have the option to add a shot of liquor though. The line and wait was long. They only had two workers when I was there. Workers were nice and attentive. Overall, it's definitely a tourist spot or somewhere new I could bring out of town guests.

Ima F.

Yelp
$8 for the worlds smallest scoop of ice cream. Boozy? Kinda. The people working were great.
