Where To Get A Low-Key Dinner With A Friend Outside

"Unlike so many other sidewalk seating situations in Manhattan, the one at this Upper East Side Italian restaurant allows you and your friend some healthy distance from the pedestrians going to New York Sports Club or walking their goldendoodles on 3rd Avenue. The thin-crust pizzas, salads, and pastas come in really big portions here - and the complimentary garlic focaccia might be better than anything on the menu. Tell your friend to ask for more and stick some in her purse." - hannah albertine

The Best Outdoor Restaurants On The Upper East Side

"Unlike so many other sidewalk set-ups in Manhattan, Tiramisu’s patio has enough to space to allow you and a friend to gaze at pedestrians and their goldendoodles from afar. The thin-crust pizzas, salads, and pastas here come in massive portions, and the complimentary garlic focaccia might be better than anything on the menu." - hannah albertine, nikko duren

Tiramisu Review - Upper East Side - New York - The Infatuation

"If you spend time on the Upper East Side, this Italian restaurant is one that you should be aware of for casual dates or meals with your family. In the summertime, they set up sidewalk seating with enough distance from the pedestrians going to New York Sports Club or walking their goldendoodles on 3rd Avenue. Aside from the thin-crust pizzas, salads, and pastas on the menu, the complimentary garlic focaccia might be better than anything else here." - Hannah Albertine

Slay. Everything was delicious! Especially loved their vongole, perfectly cooked, and just the right amount of saltiness

Google
Truly the best meal I’ve had in a long time. We ordered the pear salad to start and each got three different pastas that were all incredible. The wine paired so well with each meal and the complimentary limoncello was the best way to end the evening, along with the yummy dessert. Thank you for an incredible girls night - we can’t wait to go back!

What a wonderful gem in New York. From the decor, to the ambiance, to the service and not to forget the FOOD! Everything was amazing. It is a great place to visit for a relaxing meal. Highly recommend checking out Tiramisu!

Overall score: 5/5 Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Price:5/5 Type of restaurant: family/friends and casual dating. This place is one of NYC’s little best kept secrets for the past 25+ years. Same owners, same recipe! All the dishes pasta, pizza and chicken dishes are tasty and full of real taste. They don’t hide behind salt nor sugar, (if you know what I mean). There is a black linguine with seafood dish that’s not on the menu but if you ask nicely, Jorgé will make it for you. It’s one of the best dishes on the upper east side of manhattan. The prices are comparatively less than any restaurant of its caliber! Again, all the dishes are excellent and the service, impeccable! This is my 4th account. I only use my real name for high caliber quality of food and service.

Google
Had high hopes for this place. Walked by many times, but never had a chance to enter. Decided to come back one day with a group to try it out for lunch. It is a big restaurant with a lot of seating. Getting a spot for lunch was not a problem at all. There is only one other table of diners when we were there. We got a few entrees and a pizza to share. We saw the pizza oven in the bag and decided that it would be a miss to not give it a go. Glad we did that because the pizza was the highlight of the show! We also go meatballs, bolognese pasta and chicken parm. Unanimously, everyone felt the food was missing flavor. Looks wise they all looked great. But the finer details like finishing and texture and taste were not there. Big miss when it comes to food at a restaurant. We were looking forward to the namesake, tiramisu, however we decided to skip after not having a great lunch. Tiramisu can be hit or miss, so we didn’t to risk it. Maybe we came at a bad time? Maybe the chef was different? Maybe this isn’t a normal experience for others?

Google
As a local, I eagerly awaited their opening for months and I was glad to have dined here this past weekend. Carlos and the wait staff were very friendly and attentive. We had champagne (loved!), limoncello shots, and others I forgot to take photos of. The food was lovely including their fresh tiramisu. It’s wonderful to have an additional quality Italian restaurant on 2nd Ave. Welcome to the neighborhood! :)

Yelp
Stopped here for brunch before heading to the Met. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. The service was quite good and a lovely setting. I definitely recommend you try Tiramisu for brunch. It was the perfect way to start an afternoon at the museum.

Yelp
After walking across Central Park from the West to the East, we wanted to find a place to grab a quick drink in the Upper East Side before heading out to our respective events. Being the Upper East Side, most of the places were full of people like my younger self, so we tried to find a place where we could sit and chat. After searching for places with no luck, we stumbled in here. Yes, this review doesn't include any info about food or really service. But this certainly looks like a place that caters to the local crowd. It's your standard Italian fare of sorts.... nothing really special based on what I looked at. Just a place where you can probably grab some dinner without any issue. The drinks feel the same way too. The pours were large - even for a glass of wine, compared to an aperol spritz. The wine wasn't that great though.... but it's whatever. This place serves a need. Not the best Italian food and likely not the worst.

Yelp
Never had a bad meal here. Everything has always been delicious. Have not tried their pizza though. It's too bad that they had to move and lost outdoor seating along the quieter cross street. I used to love eating there outdoors with my dog! They don't take reservations but I've always found a table.

Yelp
8The food, drinks and service here would not disappoint you. Fast, friendly staff and the food tastes like more. I'm definitely returning and recommending to friends. Very clean and tasteful decor. The sole franchises was DELICIOUS and very fresh.

Ariel D.

Yelp
I was refused service by your waitstaff (Juan) earlier today for having a task-trained service animal accompany me to your restaurant. I let Juan know that by refusing me service, he is in violation of the American Disability Act and was discriminating against an individual with a disability. He said "I know and I understand" which was further alarming that your establishment would condone such discriminatory practices. 5 hours later, I called to speak with a manager & follow up, and was told they don't care about the law. This is **illegal** and patrons should refuse to eat at a discriminatory establishment.

Yelp
What a wonderful gem in New York. From the decor, to the ambiance, to the service and not to forget the FOOD! Everything was amazing. It is a great place to visit for a relaxing meal. The owner really cares about food quality and the customer experience! Highly recommend checking out Tiramisu!

Yelp
Really amazing neighborhood spot! I thought the prices were fair for the portion and everything was very flavorful. This is honestly one of my favorite Italian spots in the area. The calamari and fried shrimp were perfectly crispy and not too oily. Highly recommend trying this spot out! Service was very attentive and friendly as well.

David B.

Yelp
So limitation of this review: I visited once. I personally liked the decor and atmosphere in that I would come here happily for a drink with a friend or date. Food was tasty but not ground-breaking. The staff were entirely Hispanic not Italian if that makes a difference. I find this resto similar to nearby Cafe Alsace, in that the atmosphere is "Italian restaurant" (Alsace is "French restaurant"), but the food is more Italian-American than authentic. Definitely a comfortable option for any need (food, drinks, meeting place), based on my one visit.

Yelp
The chef doesn't want to serve us dinner and and the owner hates his loyal customers. We have been going for years . They have good reviews but don't care about their loyal customers. Avoid this place . We are banned from eating there after one time sending back food that the kitchen made a mistake. It is truly a shame as we supported their restaurant for a very long time .

Yelp
I just finished the most delicious meal here. Moving from their previous location to 2nd Ave. was a moving experience. The food was succulent, well prepared, and the staff terrific. .

Yelp
Came here for dessert the other night and it was just a-okay. We ordered the Tiramisu which was decent. It was a perfect dessert for a summer night and made wonderfully. However, I also ended up getting a glass of Pinot Noir with the wine. Unfortunately, the drink was spoiled and tasted a bit sour. I wish I had said something earlier. However, I didn't want to make a scene. All in all, the dessert was amazing, so I will definitely come back to try some more of the amazing Italian dishes. IG: QueenOfAdventureNYC

Yelp
This is my favorite spot for dining when I go to upper east. I just read the news and noticed the developer is forcing to close. I love all their food! The steak and fries, the special oven thin crust pizza, and the pasta dishes! It was one for the dining spot that we go to pamper ourselves, have a stroll through Central Park, and maybe to the cookie place down a couple blocks, you know away from the crazy work, and enjoy some great food and drinks. Their service is always good and same for their food! I have so much memories with friends and family in this place. I hope they will relocate and open somewhere again. I will miss the food so much.

Yelp
The daily special should not be missed. Delicious homemade pasta with unique sauces. Love in every bite. Beyond that, what stands out as most exceptional, our water glasses were NEVER empty. Excellent service.
google avatar

Yelp
This review deals with the service more than the food. The food was good, and I enjoyed my meal. I have been going to the Tiramisu on Third Avenue for eight years. I reviewed it, and gave it 4 stars. Sadly, the new Tiramisu on 2nd Ave. was a disappointment. We had to ask for our drink order three times. Different waiters keep kept coming to our table not sure of what the other waiters were doing. Very inconsistent. The manager was surly. It really felt like a struggle to get service. Would I come back? Not sure with so many local Italian restaurants with excellent service why would I go there to be ignored?

Mercedes B.

Yelp
Extremely warm hospitality, great atmosphere, quick and attentive service. We ordered the sea food risotto and the braised short rib which were fresh and delicious! I highly recommend visiting.

Yelp
Good food and excellent friendly correct service as always. Lots of good daily specials.

Yelp
We were a group of 19 that just finished dinner at Tiramisu. We made a reservation and we're seated and accommodated with no problems. The entire experience was top notch. Excellent service, excellent staff. The restaurant looked lovely, and was very clean. Everyone was on top of their game and the night couldn't have gone any better. The food came out in such a timely manner, everyone got their food at the same time (yes all 19 of us) and it was piping hot and delicious! The Tiramisu dessert we got at the end was the best Tiramisu I've ever had. My only regret is this restaurant isn't closer to home so I could go more often. Thanks to the kitchen and staff for taking such good care of us!!
google avatar

Patricia C.

Yelp
The short ribs with the risotto is very delicious. With the calorie splurge. And the tiramisu is creamy and flavorful. We also got the mostly meat antipasto which was ok and the chicken Parm which was good. We sat outside on a gorgeous evening. Service was good.

Emily P.

Yelp
The service wasn't great. The numerous staff were standing around staring at you the whole time. No customer service. The waiter that served my cheese just dumped the rest of the spoonful when I said enough cheese. The host just sort of gestured to the table which left us confused and we picked a table. The food was not good either and not as described. The free bread was terrible and had mushy bell peppers in one. I ordered the orecchiette with broccoli rabe and it was just broccoli. The salmon came with a mildly burnt latke and thousand island dressing for some reason instead of the mustard sauce it said on the menu. It was kinda cute though.

Yelp
The cutest little spot on the upper east side! Went on a beautiful Saturday evening and all of the doors/windows in the restaurant were open so the atmosphere and ambiance was unbeatable. Great prices for bottles of wine. Food was incredible.
google avatar

Navin R.

Yelp
I pass by Tiramisu everyday on my way home from work and I was finally able to go in and try the food. First I want to say that I enjoy the ambiance but when the weather is nice and the doors/windows are open its hard to not enjoy. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Tiramisu. The dishes were great and service was wonderful as well. I ordered the Toscana Pizza and Saffron Pappardelle with chicken meatballs. The pizza was good, it had spinach and was topped with ricotta. I could've done with less flour on the bottom of the pizza but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The pappardelle and meatballs tasted really good. Pasta had a solid bite to it and the meatballs were tasty, I'd recommend that dish to anyone. Lastly I had the tiramisu, boy did it live up to the name. It its a top 3 tiramisu that Ive had in NYC. Soft, creamy, the right amount of espresso. Chefs Kiss.

Yelp
I ordered the baby kale salad with walnuts, pears and goat Cheese to start. It was perfectly dressed with a tangy vinaigrette. I then ordered the pizza special which was a pesto and mushroom pizza with ricotta and mozzarella cheeses. Perfectly cooked in a wood fire oven. Definitely a nice place to dine
google avatar

Kate F.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere. Food was great and the prices weren't too bad. There was also a cool wood burning pizza oven in the back. Strongly recommend the tiramisu!

N K.

Yelp
Food arrived barely warm and wrong. I ordered my meal and the description said with Spinach and they gave me broccoli. When I called the person on the phone said "it's like spinach it's broccoli rabe" it's not broccoli rab either. Then they finally said ok we will send spinach. The chicken was so beyond overcooked it was inedible and flavorless there was barely any of the lemon sauce and what was there was 80% water and flavorless. I gave the chicken to the dog and even he only ate half and walked away! The salad was meh. I don't recommend this place at all and the spinach just arrived. I just tasted it. It tasted like it was cooked in a deep fryer of great. Also inedible. Never again
google avatar

Yelp
The food is great even though the staff doesn't seem to speak Italian. Genuinely enjoyed and the pasta is made fresh to order (not boxed)

Yelp
Great service, food is delicious I highly recommended this place. I had an awesome time in here

Yelp
One of the worst meals I've ever eaten. My wife and I were walking around and decided we would just stop at the first place we walked by with patio seating. This was the first place we passed. Plain. Bland. Thoughtless. Sloppy. No redeeming quality of the food on our plate. Two stars because the service was good and the outdoor seating was nice. I know things are rough for a lot of small businesses right now. Still, sending food this bad out of the kitchen is unacceptable.

Linda K.

Yelp
From the moment I walked in to leaving (after a wonderful lunch with 3 friends) wonderful! 1. Juan Carlos greeted me as car was being parked 2. I explained that one of us uses a walker 3. Jan Carlos had a ramp set up at once (without requesting) 4. Wonderful table 5. Great salads, great (warm and caring) service - pasta sauce- wonderful 6. I do not eat Desserts - but other 3 said "great"! 7. My dessert - Cappaccino - perfect! HIGHLY RECOMMEND AND WILL BE BACK AGAIN - SOON
google avatar

Jonathan L.

Yelp
Service was decent, a little bit slow though. The artichoke carbonara was a bit too thick, but well seasoned. The bucatini with peppers was a good balance and felt a bit heartier. The pizza was probably the worst of what we ordered, as the bottom was soggy and there was not enough flavor. The biggest upside to this place is the outdoor ambiance. I also didn't like that included gratuity was set to 23%.

Yelp
I came back for the fried ravioli pastries filled with chocolate and bananas, but left wanting more penne alla vodka. Dinner started off with a complimentary basket of bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. The crust of the bread was pretty burnt, but the rest of the bread was fine. Prosciutto e Melone- This was probably one of the most interesting combinations of food I've ever had. It was tasty, but I don't think it was worth the price. ($17) Spaghetti & Meatballs- It was just average. ($18) Penne alla Vodka- So delicious! They were very generous with the bacon bits. ($18) Profiteroles al Cioccolato - I would skip this. The cream puff pastries were really hard. ($10) Fried Ravioli- I still remember when I had this a couple of years ago, it was so chocolaty. I was kind of disappointed that they filled the pastries with more bananas than chocolate this time. Maybe I'll request more chocolate next time. ($10) I definitely recommend the Penne alla Vodka!

Ayvah D.

Yelp
The food itself was good but I waited almost ten minutes for my drink (sprite) when the table next to us got theirs almost immediately. Then my friend who ordered a pizza waited over ten minutes for it even though the same table next to us who arrived after us got their pizza before us (they got margarita which was the same as us). Then when I ordered my food I asked for penne bolognese and the waiter kept insisting on spaghetti instead but i just kept saying penne. And when my food arrived they'd given me spaghetti. Even though it was just the shape which I do not care much about, it was lack of attention to detail that made me right this review (me and my fried are black but the couple at the table next to us were white).

Mary B.

Yelp
They are on 2nd Ave. and 86th St. This is a new location for them. I had eaten in their other location twice. Didn't like it either time. It was so long ago that I thought I would give them a try again. Hoping for a new chef. Ordered in. It was awful! Chicken Parm dry, tasteless. How to side of pasta with what was supposed to be marinara sauce. No idea what it was. The fried zucchini was fabulous which is why I gave it to stars. Would not eat here again .

Yelp
This restaurant was our go-to Italian restaurant when we lived in NYC. The food was great, especially the chicken parm which was outstanding. We always knew that when we went to Tiramisu that our meal would be perfect. Well, we had our first child and moved out the city and then had our second child and moved to Florida where we have now been for 8 years. This weekend we took the kids (11 and 8) to NYC to see a couple of shows and stopped off at our old stomping grounds for dinner on the way out of the city. The first thing we noticed was that several people, including a waiter and the maitre d or owner, are still there. In fact, they recognized us and were happy to see us. It gets better, the waiter remembered that my wife loved the chicken parm and asked if she was ordering it. Ordinarily, this wouldn't be important, but we haven't been here in 8 years. It was like a family reunion. My wife did indeed have the chicken parm and it remains outstanding. I had the chicken stuffed with spinach which was the special for the night and it was excellent as were the mashed potatoes. My older son, an expert in chicken parm, said it was one of the best chicken parms he has ever had. And my younger son had the spaghetti with butter which he loved. It was great seeing everybody again at this favorite and the food remains outstanding. I highly recommend..

Yelp
I have been going to Tiramisu for 20 years and love the food , service and price . Although I felt lost when they close their location on 3rd and 80th , I am glad they are still in my hood

Ally M.

Yelp
The absolute best tiramisu I have ever had! The service is incredible and it's clear they really care about the patrons overall experience. Could not recommend enough!
google avatar

Yelp
The vibes of this restaurant are so cute! They have lights set up in the structures they built for the season change and it creates such a romantic atmosphere. The food was delightful! The risotto was excellent and the pizza was light & crispy. I am a huge tiramisu fan, so when the restaurant is named after it, i needed to try! It didn't disappoint. Highly recommend for date night!

Andrew C.

Yelp
The best everyday red sauce and pizza spot on The UES. New location, same food and better vibes. Great service and even better ambiance. Goto for a casual Italian meal.

Joey B.

Yelp
What a great restaurant. The food, staff, service was impeccable. I'm looking forward to returning. Keep up the good work.

Patricia O.

Yelp
The food and staff are just the same in their new location on 2nd Ave. Interior has a fresh new vibe. Highly recommend the pizzas and the eggplant app.

Heather R.

Yelp
I love this place. I can't believe I haven't reviewed it before now. I've been going here for years. They have the best pizzas. Salads, pastas and their chicken saltimbocca is so yummy. The service is wonderful and don't forget their Tiramisu.

Naresh A.

Yelp
Just came back from a Sunday lunch . Excellent pasta! The fettuccine with mushrooms and grilled chicken , the pasta special beet gnocchi with cheese sauce and the chicken parmigiana! All amazing and great service ! They have the spicy olive oil which you can have with the bread also excellent ! Special drinks menu and the martini was superb !

Ellen S.

Yelp
A grave disappointment. Smaller than original place. Tables are on top of each other. Aisles for walking & service are only for the slim. Food was passable. Managers were unpleasant. Ambiance was ok except for huge TV over the bar. Wasn't a restful dining experience. More like eat & get out. Bus person cleaned the table before I could swallow my last bite. NO return in my future.

Yelp
Wanted to check out a restaurant up the street but had too long of a wait so we decided to come to Tiramisu. We were glad that the other place had a long wait because the food here was great. Service was quick, the staff was nice, and most importantly the food was very good. We ordered the margarita pizza with garlic, penne vodka, and the vegetarian ravioli special which was saffron pumpkin ravioli in a walnut cream sauce topped with truffle. The pizza is cooked fast in a woodfire oven and the pastas were hot and fresh tasting. Will definitely be back as they have a large menu with plenty of other dishes to try!

Yelp
Me: Hello sir do serve simple cheese-only pizza ? Server: All of our pizzas are the same size Me: .... ..... .... I was wondering whether you have a pizza without toppings, just cheese Server: Our pizza costs $ 19 Server: .... .... .... May I have a pizza without any toppings? Just cheese please? Server: Do you want to order or do you want to leave? Can't make this up !

Frank K.

Yelp
First time here tonight. My wife and I were super surprised. Excellent pizza and homemade pasta. We will be back and I recommend this place. Enjoy.
google avatar

Samantha L.

Yelp
This is a great option for more casual family meals. Their pizza - especially the ricotta and spinach pizza - is delicious! Their dessert menu has a wide variety and everything we tried was great. Definitely will be back!
google avatar

Colie R.

Yelp
Firstly, their website says you can call them for reservations, when you call them they tell you they do not take reservations, so just be aware of that if you look online. It's a smaller cute Italian restaurant, the prices are fairly reasonable. You are given bread with oils to start with. We ordered Chicken Paragina, Ravioli, Chicken Saltimbocca and Penne Alla Vodka. Everyone enjoyed their food and there weren't any complaints. We ended up getting tiramisu which appeared to be heavily coated with whipped cream on the top that I was not a fan of. If it was a little firmer I think I would have enjoyed it more. I would come again and try another dish.
google avatar

Yelp
V and I were scouting through the Upper East Side for places to eat and stumbled (quite literally!) into Tiramisu, a small Italian joint which is not very bright (think mood-lighting). I barely remember having a glass of wine but I think it was decent. V was unimpressed with her chianti. Food wasn't much better: The ravioli we ordered was dough-heavy, the shrimp just as flat. On the upside, the mussels were good. Since it was V's birthday, we shared a plate of tiramisu, which was probably the best part of the meal. Our server (Walter) was friendly and service was quick. Prices were average and besides dessert, there's not much that would send me back to Tiramisu.

Yelp
I walked by this place a lot but never tried it out. I should have though since my favorite dessert is the Tiramisu. My date and I decided to check this place out on Tuesday night. It was quite empty for a spot that seems rather busy on other nights. Maybe it was due to the icy conditions. We got a pitcher of red sangria. It was awesome. It was very fruity, so there was no hint of alcohol in it, but obviously there since we both got the asian glow. For an app, we tried the Fritto Di Calamari E Gamberi. The batter was very light and bland. I mean it wasn't bad, but i wish they added some salt/pepper to season the calamari and shrimp. It came with marinara sauce and tartar sauce. The tartar sauce was pretty good. For entrees we ordered the Scaloppine Al Burro Sfuso and a thin crust pizza with prosciutto, mushrooms and basil. The veal scaloppini was just ok. It was buttery with a nice lemony citrus taste. The pieces were small though. The potatoes were bland but the spinach was really cooked well. You can tell it was sauteed with garlic and olive oil. The best part of our meal was the pizza. The crust was super thin and crispy. The sauce was sweet and the prosciutto was amazing. The saltiness really worked well with the sweet sauce and the crispy bread. Although we were full, we ordered the tiramisu to go. I mean you have to try the tiramisu since that is the name of the restaurant. It was divine. IT was soo soft, sweet and decadent. It probably is the best tiramisu in the UES. This place would get 4-5 stars if we just ordered the sangria, pizza and the tiramisu. The stars got lowered because of the disappointment with the fried calamari app and the veal entree. Caveat - they don't accept Amex.
