Extensive imported Greek fare, feta bar, baked goods, olives

"Once considered the largest Greek supermarket in America, this specialty store is reopening on Friday, August 1, at its new Queens headquarters (23-53 Steinway Street at 23rd Road) after closing two years ago; the company announced it on Instagram with the caption, “Stay calm people!!!”. Founded in the 1970s by Kostas and Stavroula Mastoras, it has relocated before—most notably in 1996 to a 16,000‑square‑foot space said to carry at least 20 varieties of feta—and the latest iteration is, as Anatoli (Anna) Mastoras put it, “a fresh start” with “a different setup and a different design.”" - Melissa McCart
"Titan Foods is a big grocery store on 31st Street in Astoria where almost everything is imported from Greece. They even have their own feta bar, complete with dozens of cheese hunks the size of square basketballs. Stop by to pick up some fresh kataïfi on your way to a party, or to get a can of giant beans in tomato sauce that needs no additional seasoning whatsoever. Also, Danny Devito shops here sometimes. If it’s good enough for Danny, it’s certainly worth your time." - hannah albertine, nikko duren
"If you’re looking for Greek food, you’re in the right neighborhood. For a quick snack on the go, we like this Greek specialty grocery store on 31st Street. Almost everything is imported from Greece, and they even have their own feta bar, complete with dozens of cheese hunks comparable in size to square basketballs. Stop by to pick up some fresh kataïfi, olives, crackers, and skordalia spread." - hannah albertine
"An Astoria staple that claimed to be “the largest retail Greek food and grocery store in North America,” I learned Titan Foods shuttered last year after the longtime building that housed it was sold; the owners promised to reopen elsewhere in the neighborhood and, as of this spring, a lease has been inked for a new location at Steinway Street and 23rd Road. The founder's daughter, Anatoli (Anna) Mastoras, told Eater the relocation is “a fresh start” with a “different setup and a different design.” No opening date has been set, and Reddit threads are tracking its return. The original home at 25-56 31st Street—where the family moved in 1996 into a 16,000-square-foot space—sold for $10.5 million in 2023, a sale that covered the storefront, its building, and the adjoining parking lot. While the storefront was closed, Titan Foods continued online sales. First opened in the 1970s by Kostas and Stavroula Mastoras, it specialized in a wide breadth of Greek products—at one point offering 20 varieties of feta cheese." - Emma Orlow
"A 40-year-old Astoria supermarket is closed for now as its lease ends at the end of the month and Aniska31 Realty LLC plans to bulldoze the building for a new apartment project; the owners say they will be relocating and plan to reopen in the neighborhood after signing a new lease, calling the move an upgrade, and the store’s online operations remain open through the transition." - Melissa McCart
