A Guide to Dining and Drinking in the Lower Garden District (LGD)

"Chef Juan Lock and his wife and partner Tatiana bring Lock’s native Peruvian cuisine to the plate at this sunny hub of global flavors. Tito’s, which also has a location in Uptown, is named for Peru’s national dish, ceviche: bites of raw local fish quick-cured in citrus. Try the lomo saltado, a fried rice-like dish made with seafood, pisco, peppers, eggs, and soy sauce." - Clair Lorell, Beth D'Addono, Justine Jones

Where to Eat and Drink Along the St. Charles Avenue Streetcar Line

"This new multi-level outpost of the original Tito’s Ceviche and Pisco Peruvian restaurant on Magazine Street is a bright spot in what used to be the Saint Charles Tavern. Founders Tatiana and Juan Lock are excited to bring authentic flavors to the Garden District, dishes like various types of composed raw seafood, and cooked specialties like tallarin verde, a hanger steak with garlicky pesto linguine. A pair of pretty bars specialize in pisco, the clear, strong brandy that is the national spirit of Peru." - Beth D'Addono, Clair Lorell

Google
This place is darling and the food is fabulous. We had an impromptu dinner of several ceviches and small plates. Very impressed with the quality and the presentations. I am not much of a meat-eater, but the beef skewers (anticichos on the menu) were delicious. If I lived here, I’d go all the time. So good! Also: great decor for your favorite llama llover! 🦙❤️

Mia Ciaccio

Google
Oh M Gee. I am shocked at how delicious this food is today. And it was to-go (which I hold to a lower standard, as stuff is in boxes and usually not as pretty) well everything was beautiful even in to go boxes! The food was delicious and FRESH. Each bite we took was better than the last. Don't skip on dessert either, it was biggest shocker. I have had flan probably 100 times in my life, never this amazing. I've driven past here 1000 times, never again! Go in, get food, leave happy happy

Google
Surpisingly, our first visit to Tito's Ceviche & Pisco. This will def be one of our go-to restaurants from now on. It's gotta be the best Peruvian place in NOLA and surely the best I've been to. The extensive Infused Pisco menu alone is worth the visit, something I've never seen before. Amazing. The Ceviche menu is equally impressive in number, quality, presentation and flavors. Our server was so enthusiastic is responding to our curiosities. Very cute inside, plus they have a good sized patio area.

Google
We were in town for just a few days and struggled to narrow down the restaurants we wanted to try as there are so many great options. I'm soooo glad we chose Tito's because it was one of the best dining experiences on my life. We had the wings and 2 different ceviches. All 3 were incredible. We also loved the decor and our server was super friendly. I cannot recommend Tito's enough. We're coming back to New Orleans simply to try more dishes at Tito's.

Google
Passed by and decided to swing back and so glad we did. This place is the bomb. Amazing food, friendly and professional service, excellent beer and great ambience. Our server was Amazing, literally her name and also her service. If you’re in the area, make a stop!

Romy Saunders

Google
We made reservations for my birthday. Everything about this gem was exceptional - the ambiance, staff (Christian guided us through the menu), and food! We chose several small plates, and it's worth saying again that each was exceptional. There is parking in the adjacent lot, and the St. Charles Streetcar stops right in front. Should I ever be in New Orleans again, another visit would be a must!

Perla MD

Google
This place is a gem, beautifully decorated and splendid service. We had the octopus ceviche and steak tenderloin lomo saltado. I ordered medium rare and the steak was overcooked BUT the food was absolutely delicious. The sauce they use for the lomo saltado is top tier.

Google
Edit to add: We went two days in a row to Tito’s because one time wasn’t enough on our trip. If you are dairy-free, I very strongly recommend you try them out. I’ve never been treated so well with my allergy. They even made me my own sauces, so I can try everything my table ordered. I was blown away. I even enjoyed an incredible dessert. You can tell they put so much love in what they cook. I am dairy free and it was so refreshing to not only eat the most amazing food I’ve ever eaten but also have staff that knew exactly what was in everything. Our server, Amazing, was amazing!! If you are debating on going here, don’t debate any longer. Seriously go here and have the best food of your life!

Yelp
This is a top 3 for me of all restaurants in New Orleans. I adore the ceviche. You just can't find this level of quality ceviche north of the Andes anywhere in the americas, and yet somehow it is produced "en su punto" every time I have visited. Kind, attentive staff make the experience warm and memorable.

Yelp
After a 10 hour drive, it was so refreshing to have fresh, delicious bright seafood and a strong tasty cocktail. We made it for happy hour which is a steal and had the ceviche, pisco sour and yuca fries. There was a free salsa Verde with Peruvian corn which was delightful and like tasty, real Corn Nuts. Our server was friendly, welcoming and amazing. Can't wait to go back!

Samantha O.

Yelp
Food was amazing. Most delicious ceviches I have ever tried. Not your usual boring/standard ceviche. Here you have options! Also, since my trip to Peru 5 years ago, I am in love with Pisco Sour. This place is authentic. Their Pisco Sours are just as good as the ones I had in Peru. Might not sound surprising, but after dozen of Peruvian restaurants in the states, Tito's Ceviche & Pisco Sour was the only one not Americanize. Now why the low rating of 3 starts? Well it's the enjoying 4% upcharge when paying with a credit card. First, the majority of credit cards charge between 2.7% to 3% charge. You are pocketing the extra 1%. Second, this is a business expense not a customer expense. Increase your prices if you are hurting. Third, you added this 4% to my bill for which I paid extra taxes on and you expected me to tip on @#$%^&*! Fourth, you are high-end restaurant. Do you expect me to be carrying over $300 in cash? Next time, I will reduce my consumption to the cash on hand.

Yelp
Tito's Ceviche, wow! I went with a friend for dinner and everything was delicious! I ordered the Piscorita and it was refreshing! For my meal, I ordered the Lomo Saltado. The sauce is to die for, the meat is tender, and it is paired perfectly with white rice. I dream about this entree and how delicious the sauce is. Although I probably did not need it, I ordered a side of fried yuca. The yuca was tasty and I enjoyed the sauce it came with. Overall, a great meal and I will definitely be back!!
google avatar

Patricia R.

Yelp
Yes!!! I am a die hard Tito's fan, and this was my first visit to their St. Charles Avenue addition. The place is so pretty inside! I especially love the llama fabric that can be found on the bench seating and all of the curtains. The food was delicious and the drinks were divine. The service was excellent - smiles came easily and everyone was very attentive. I had - ceviche Nikkei - delicious! Ensalada Andina + chicken - so fresh and full of flavor! Their sangria - perfectly refreshing and sweet! We also had the yucca fries, and as much as I try to stay away from fried foods, these made my fall from grace so worth it. I'm impressed all the way around.

Yelp
We were looking for ceviche for lunch on Sunday. We searched YELP and found this restaurant. We were not disappointed. The restaurant is so beautiful and the staff was so attentive and helpful. It was such a hot afternoon that we only wanted a few appetizers. We started with the Ceviche Shrimp. It was chilled. I wish it had come with some sort of chips maybe. We then had the ceviche de pulpo which was grilled octopus with sweet potatoes. It was so flavorful and delicious. We then had a tuna crudo. It was one of the best I have ever had. We will definitely go back...maybe to the Magazine Street location next time.

Yelp
This is the second location of Tito's following their very successful uptown location. It is located very centrally with easy access from both Metairie, NO East and Westbank. Fairly convenient parking on the street. The restaurant seating is plenty unlike their original restaurant, which can be challenging at times. They have a large bar that may accommodate additional patrons. It is clean and comfortable. The service was prompt, polite, friendly and knowledgeable. They have the same menu as uptown location. There were no surprises. Me encanta el plato de pescado con maraquya
google avatar

Cindy C.

Yelp
Got the seafood rice for takeout. It arrived very warm which is great. Have had this dish before from other Peruvian restaurants. While it was overall good, and ok amount of seafood, my biggest issue with it was that it felt SO HEAVY and it had way too much sauce. Fresh seafood. Don't think it was worth the price, could have had more seafood in relation to the amount of rice.
google avatar

Tina T.

Yelp
Tito's has exceptional ceviches, tantalizing appetizers, potent cocktails, and amazing entrees, creating an unforgettable dining experience. The ambiance is cozy yet sophisticated, ideal for both intimate dinners and lively gatherings. They also have outside seating and are pet friendly! I've been here multiple times, and the service is always good. My top favorite dishes are the Ceviche Nikkei, Buttered Scallop App Special, Tallarines Verdes Con Bistec, and Arroz Con Mariscos

Johnny D.

Yelp
The restaurant has terrific service and the cerviche is to die for!. They also have parking. Definitely one of my fzvorites in NOLA
google avatar

Yelp
First time visiting this location, we loved it! The food was tasty, the atmosphere was clean and pretty. The hosts and server was friendly, we will definitely going back again
google avatar

Swati S.

Yelp
This place is even prettier in my eyes than the Magazine St location. It's so colorful and evokes more scenes and images from Peru. I guess it's meant to be more hip and fun. Where is the Magazine St location could be more of a romantic date location. The food was up to par as always. The server seemed a bit new and a little bit lacking in knowledge of portion sizes, which I knew pretty well already. Otherwise it's a great location, parking is easy and convenient next-door or on the street.
google avatar

Jana G.

Yelp
Ambience was very nice, we ate outside. The waitress was slow...the place wasn't that busy. The food portions were small and the popcorn kernel type appetizer was strange, but the green sauce with it was very good. We just got a ceviche and the portion was super small. Wouldn't recommend.
google avatar

Kaitlyn L.

Yelp
So glad I got to try out Tito's! The food was spectacular! I have never tried Peruvian food before, so I wanted to try different things on their menu. I asked the waitress for recs and everything she suggested was great! To start I tried the ceviche nikkei which was my favorite appetizer! It was so fresh and tasted delicious! I also tried the Anticuchos De Res...the sauce on the potatoes was really good! I could eat that everyday! As an entree I tried the Arroz Con Mariscos which reminded me of a paella. It was really good and came with a lot of seafood! I would 100% recommend Tito's! I went on a Thursday for dinner and it wasn't too busy!

Yelp
Happy Ceviche day! We finally had time for a Lunch date and it didn't disappoint. Parking was easy and the staff was very welcoming. We came in at 3pm just in time for happy hour! We were sat immediately and ordered the Pisco Flight. Salmon app was light, Octopus dish was WOW (everything went well together on this dish and the Octopus was soooo tender), Tuna Crudo had a hint of spice and I love how it was served on plantain. To celebrate National Ceviche Day, they offered a sort of Ceviche Flight (Gulf Fish, Shrimp, Mix Seafood). We were so full by the time we got to our last dish (Steak), we packed it to go. The place is beautiful and I got to enjoy it with my Peruvian Queen. Will def be back.

Yelp
One of the best meals I've ever eaten. Watching a parade. During Mardi Gras. Sober. I freaking believable!
google avatar

Huong D.

Yelp
Food and services is excellent. But when did they start charging CC fee? Credit card fee $5.46. Need to inform on the website or have a sign on the menu, so people can know. Now these days everyone use charge credit card. Not good for business if charging credit card fees. I usually go to the one on magazine street. Never had cc fees. Never coming back here then. Some high end places I go don't even charge cc fees. Are they trying to sneak in fee that is unnecessary?

Kino S.

Yelp
Fantastic place to try Peruvian food! I went during happy hour. There were only a few people there, a couple guys at the bar casually chatting with the woman running the house. They start you with a little dish of some type of crunchy cooked corn and a lovely sour green sauce. I ordered the veal heart skewers, which come with crispy potatoes tossed in a chipotle sauce and some hominy on the side. It's very filling and delicious. I also tried three of their Pisco choices. I preferred the blueberry thyme. The decor is adorable and on the tv they show highlights of Peru. I would recommend it to anyone.
google avatar

Aliyah D.

Yelp
I loved everything about Tito's. The place is adorable and the detail in every little thing doesn't go unnoticed. I love the plate settings and the flowers and details on the food. Everything I had was top tier. The ceviche was so good and the broth was very flavorful. It was the best ceviche I have ever had. Our server was also very nice. 10/10 would recommend.
google avatar

Nikkie N.

Yelp
I'm so happy Tito's opened a second location! This location is beautiful and bright. And a lot closer of a drive for me. Visited last night, service was great. Same menu as the original location & also just as delicious. Tried the tuna Crudo ($16) & TIRADITO CLASICO ($17) for the first time. The Crudo had a good kick from the chili garlic oil. The tiradito clasico was a little too saucy for me. I will stick to the ceviche nikkei ($24). Also love the pulpo a la parrilla ($28). The octopus is always so tender with the perfect amount of char. I order an extra portion of the aioli potatoes too ($4). I'll definitely be back to visit!
google avatar

Samrana B.

Yelp
The service and food was great here! We came maybe 30 minutes till they close and they accepted a big group with open arms. We did have a reservation we just were about 15 minutes late. I was hesitant with my gluten allergy but the waitress was so accommodating listing everything that I can safely eat. They had a ton of ceviche options which I was able to try a couple. There was this famous drink that I have pictured I don't know what it was but it was so good!! I did get sick after this meal so there may have been some cross contamination that took place however everyone had a great time and they were super accommodating to such a big group.
google avatar

Megan G.

Yelp
I love this place! Great food and even better service. Was in and out quick but not rushed. Check this place out!

Amazing S.

Yelp
Food is really good in the Peruvian Restaurant. I really loved the ceviche and lomo saltado. The service was great and the bartender very helpful! I'd definitely come back. I celebrate my birthday with my friends, we ordered a lot of dishes but I mentioned in the first lines my favorites dishes. I love all the dessert, they are really fresh and soooo goood!

DiAmon H.

Yelp
I went today with a friend. The ceviche is TOP tier. Service was attentive and pleasant. If you're reading this make the decision to go!
google avatar

Madelynne B.

Yelp
Delicious! So authentic. It's been a long time since I've had such good tostones with fry sauce, since Puerto Rico. And the ceviche was fabulous! We also had the pan seared fish - very tasty. Would definitely recommend and come back. It was all good! And our server was great!

Kathy H.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious meal here on a Wednesday afternoon! Great atmosphere and music plus charming server (Gaby) made for the perfect lunch. I had the Tiradito Nikkei (sashimi tuna in a delicious sauce with avocado - versus ceviche where the seafood is "cooked" in citrus) as well as the scrumptious Spicy Passion a lo Macho (spicy Pisco with passion fruit), then treated myself to the full-of-fruit-chunks mango crème brûlée which was perfection. I am so happy right now - definitely don't miss this place! And don't miss the dry roasted corn that's served with their magic green sauce when you sit down - so yummy!
google avatar

Sharon T.

Yelp
Excellent food and pisco sours. I would recommend and plan to return when I visit New Orleans, again.
google avatar

Crystal W.

Yelp
Phenomenal Peruvian food right on St. Charles. Probably the best ceviche I've had in New Orleans so far, and the pisco cocktails were amazing. Parking lot right on the side of the building is a plus.
google avatar

Lonnie T.

Yelp
Amazing food! Fantastic selection and choices to eat. The servers are friendly and helpful. It's New Orleans so the ambiance is delightful. Their beer and wine selections are decent, but the mix drinks are exotic and tasty. Try the octopus!!!
google avatar

Franz H.

Yelp
Great food cocktails & mocktails. Amazing food, huge portions. The appetizers are huge and are basically full meals. Amazing crisp potatoes and Yuka.
google avatar

Katie N.

Yelp
I've never tried Peruvian cuisine before so I had this place in my "to go" list for the longest time. Staff was super nice and efficient even though I was lunch rush. I got the tallarines verde con bistec and my friend got the pescado a lo macho. The meat was tender and pasta was so creamy! Cute place for a date night!
google avatar

Angie Marisol R.

Yelp
Gracias
google avatar

Tina C.

Yelp
Tito's Ceviche & Pisco was the best meal we had the week we were in Nola. And we had a lot of meals! The food here was amazing. Fresh, flavorful, unique and so delicious! We ordered several entrees and they were all so different and full of flavor. The complimentary fried corn and green dipping sauce, wow, SO GOOD. We ate two! The left overs made the best breakfast. Service was great. So were the cocktails. The restaurant was beautifully refurbished inside and out. It was a wonderful dining experience all around. Wish there were a Tito's in LA!
google avatar

Kim G.

Yelp
The absolute best ceviche/crudo that we had in the entire city including a number of upscale places in the Warehouse district. Great drinks and great prices. Plus, it is family owned. Any chance you want to open a spot in Boston? This one was off he charts and such a hidden gem.
google avatar

Shana M.

Yelp
We came in on a Monday night. The place was quiet and no wait. I'm familiar with and a big fan of Peruvian food. We all had drinks. They have a large selection of Piscos and all our drinks were very well crafted. I had the Tamarindo. The food came out very quickly and was correct. Our server was pleasant. The prices are to be expected in this area. All of our entrees were good. I can't speak to how it compares to other Peruvian places in Nola, I don't know. But I can say that I have had better Peruvian in Orlando, Kansas City, and St. Louis. Still, the experience was very solid all around. Wish they don't close so early, 9pm, we would have liked to stay longer.
google avatar

Courtney S.

Yelp
So excited the new location at St. Charles and MLK is now open! Went by for Happy Hour today and it made us SO HAPPY! The Peruvian wings are absolutely amazing! Perfectly crispy with such a great amount of spice and light, sweet, sticky sauce served with a side of the house green sauce, which I would put on anything. The yuca fries are not to be missed. Very light, crisp, and easily devoured by the handful. Lastly, house curated pisco infused with fruits, peppers, and herbs can be ordered as a flight, which is just good fun. Highly recommend and such an amazing addition to the Lower Garden District!

Todd G.

Yelp
What a wonderful magic meal of delicious food and creative amazing cocktails from the bar. We wanted a little break from the common menu of the area and found a magic gem in Tito's Peruvian Cuisine. Two thumbs up!

Christian B.

Yelp
GREAT ceviche. Service was great and the cocktails are top notch. Fresh seafood is difference maker.
google avatar

Nina M.

Yelp
Do not pass up an opportunity to eat this amazing food! The flavors are so inventive and each dish was presented with attention to detail. The Tallerines Verdes con Bistec is one of the most delicious dishes in the city... pasta in basil pesto with succulent steak and pecans. I loved the ensalada andina, too, and my companions enjoyed the ceviche and the lomo saltado. The service was warm and friendly. We had been to the Magazine location, but this was our first trip to the new St. Charles location. I am so excited for a nice restaurant in this area! The dining room is beautiful and open inside with a clean crisp feel. Nice bar with good wine list, too. We can walk from our place, but it is conveniently located on the streetcar line and plenty of parking around.
google avatar

Barry B.

Yelp
The place is beautiful and food is delicious. This ain't the "St. Charles Tavern"! They lots of space for dining, lunching or for parties. The Peruvian menu is fresh and interesting.
google avatar

Yovanka D.

Yelp
Good is bland. Not worth the time or money. Very disappointed with the flavor. Nothing like being in Peru.

Shawn M.

Yelp
I travel a good bit (120 nights + per year) and attempt to eat out at good local spots. I very rarely leave a review (for better or worse) but this restaurant was very, very good...one of the best I've been to in awhile. I had the shrimp ceviche and then some tenderloin tips...fantastic! Come here...you will not be disappointed.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
A welcome addition to our hood! Fresh, inventive food with attentive service. And a great job on the building toom
google avatar

Jonathan E.

Yelp
Food was very good. Service was good. As a neighbor, I simply wish there was more diversity in the menu and pricing. No lunch specials? I can get a pretty big serving of poke+ for $15 at other places. One entree and a beer cost me $41 here. This bumps it from a regular "in the weekly rotation" to a special place 3× a year. This location is very different from their original spot, but they've not yet adapted to the demographics. .
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere. Server was amazing, would definitely come back. Everything we ordered was very good from the tuna ceviche to the tenderloin tips. Get the hanger steak appetizer, the wings are also amazing.
google avatar

Rick F.

Yelp
What a great addition to St. Charles Street in the Lower Garden District. Generous portions of well-seasoned ceviche were suitable for sharing and tasting. We enjoyed it so much that we doubled down on more ceviche and skipped the mains. Also ordered a side of delicious, crunchy yucca frites which filled in the gaps. Finished with their picarones which were as delicious tasting as they were beautiful on the website. This place is a winner and we will return.

maggi s.

Yelp
Fresh, flavorful and wonderful service. This was a welcomed variation from standard NOLA food.

Josh J.

Yelp
Must try. Informative server. Food and Pisco were all very good. I had the Yellowtail Ceviche and Wings.

Katherine R.

Yelp
I dreammmm about their Ceviche Nikkei. It is absolutely delicious. I have to come here at get my ceviche fix at least once a week. Everything I've had is super fresh and tasty. Service is very nice and servers have given me great recommendations every time.

portia j.

Yelp
Delicious love it he atmosphere and decor. Ordered the ceviche Limoné had great flavors. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
