Amazing experience! TJ's has been recommended quite a few times by locals in the neighborhood. I finally got to go and it did not disappoint! Great food, great drinks, and great service. Will definitely be coming back!

What a fabulous neighborhood spot for fresh fish. I ordered the sashimi lunch and was blown out of the sea. My 15 pcs of fish slid down nicely with a free glass of ice water (rare for New York). Please go visit my friends at TJ’s for a great meal with some delicious fish.

I was in the mood for Sunday night sushi at home and my usual fav sushi place was closed so I went with TJ Asian Bistro based on reviews and I was not disappointed with the sushi rolls I got for me and the family (also this was a delivery order)and we waited about an hour. Both spicy crab and shrimp tempura were fresh, tasty & delicious, the shrimp gyoza order was also of our liking & I feel the prices are affordable, I would like to try other dishes in the menu in the future.

Sushi in Sunnyside Gardens After trying a few places in Queens these past 8 months, I found a little gem TJ Asian - 50th & Skillman In case you didn’t notice lol I loveee Salmon ! It was very fresh. Miso soup came with my salmon platter, even on a hot summer day I still enjoed… I LOVE Agedashi dōfu, it was perfectly made and paired with a not to salty sauce. Dessert was also delicious, I had the fried banana with red bean ice cream.. THE POUR - PLUM WINE The only issue I had was my waitress for got me . I had to ask other wait staff for water, dessert and my bill and never asked if I wanted anything else.

Had a lovely lunch here. TJ Asian Bistro is a lovely, warm space. The decor is simple but charming. Service is excellent and the food is very good. Their lunch special is a real bargain. The Green Tea ice cream was 😋 and two people can share it.

For the past 7 yrs, I have been ordering from TJ asian bistro. Their food is always super fresh, delicious with amazing textures& presentations and consistently top notch! It is affordable & reasonably priced with generous portions which I love & appreciate. they always put so much efforts and care into their food and it really shows even the ways how they pack their delivery food. It's like high end sushi restaurant level of care, taste& presentation for sure! I usually order deliveries from their website and even their delivery people are professional & always delivering with care. Their food is my comfort food and I can always count on them. A friend and I met here for lunch and had a great time. We found street parking with no issues. However, I could see parking being an issue during busy hours. The staff were amazing, very attentive, and welcoming. I was shocked at how busy it was around 1:30pm, which was a good sign that the food was good. They have an extensive Asian/sushi menu, including a separate lunch special menu. We both ordered the lunch special that included a soup, small salad and option of meat, rice, and a sushi/California roll. I don't eat seafood, so I ordered the cucumber roll, and my friend had the avocado roll. This was my first time eating three cucumber rolls, and surprisingly, it was tasty. I enjoyed my entire meal, and it was fulfilling. I was able to take a small to go bag of my rice and teriyaki chicken. My friend ate all of hers and we were both satisfied with our meal and the service. We both enjoyed our refills of the hot tea throughout our meal, and you had the option of water as well. This is definitely a cool spot to check out, and I would definitely return to check out some other menu items.

My friend N and I always go for the lunch special (11am-3pm daily except they close on Mondays) at TJ Asian Bistro. N has been telling people about this place and going there with her friends and family for almost 30+ years now. That's how long the restaurant has been there. It's definitely a popular lunch/dinner spot + a neighborhood gem with the locals who live around the area since they've really great lunch and dinner deals. Exceptionally fast and attentive service from the staff as well, you'll get seated almost right away if not within 10-15 mins even when they're very busy during lunch and dinner hours. They'll come over to people's table and refill the tea if they see your cups are empty. It's nice when the staff recognizes you and your friend right away when you visit from time to time for being regular customers. N has brought me here for my birthday last year and the year before that. So, we start coming here pretty often and now this has totally become our regular lunch spot. It's just 3-4 mins away of walking distance after getting off the 7 train. You can just hop back on the subway afterwards. They accept credit/debit card and cash as forms of payment. Their bathroom is very clean and spotless every time. Ambiance wise is casual and comfy, they've both outdoor and indoor seating. We decide to come here during dinner time instead as a change tonight though, just to see how we might also like it for dinner. You can get either hot green tea or iced tap water after being seated by the staff. Then, you'll be given a menu and several mins to think about what you would wanna get. Staff comes back to take your order shortly afterwards. The lunch/dinner bento box that they offer is probably by far the best deal out of the entire menu because you get to try a little bit of everything depending on what kind of meat/vegetarian protein you decide to order. We ordered the teriyaki salmon and teriyaki beef as two choices for the dinner bento box. But, there're so many other options for proteins. To start off, every meal comes with a refreshing salad drenched in their ginger dressing and flavorful miso soup with seaweed and tiny tofu cubes. Then, after you're done, the waitress brings over the entree which is our bento box. The bento box isn't served in a typical bento box but rather on a platter separated into 4 sections. Talk about a great, colorful presentation for social media or just to show your friends! The big piece of teriyaki salmon is always cooked to perfection just the way we would prefer, soft and tender on the inside and crispy on the outside when starting to take a bite out of the deliciousness. The veggies (carrot, asparagus, broccoli onion plus seaweed salad) that come with the salmon are very fresh and crunchy too. The outer skin of the shumai is ever so crispy and soft on the inside. The 6 pieces of California rolls taste fresh with avocado and imitation crab inside. Rolls are served with a swab of wasabi and small pat of fresh ginger. Bowl of rice is served on the side. On the other hand, the teriyaki beef is kind of dry and not as tender as I originally had thought. The cooking skills of the beef can definitely be improved and worked on. Otherwise, it would've been a different story. We asked for extra teriyaki sauce on the side as well. A very fulfilling, nutritious, healthy and worthy meal indeed. We enjoyed it every time when we come here.

I'm a Sunnyside local and TJs is a go to spot. The food is fresh and affordable and the service is good.The restaurant is small, intimate, and very dimly lit. It's great for a casual date. The sushi is good. I love their house Pinot Grigio (only $7 a glass) it's not extremely dry, gives you a buzz, and no headache after! Their red velvet cake is very good as well and I definitely recommend it if you like something sweet after a meal.

TJ's is the best Asian/sushi spot around the area! The food has always been great, consistent and at reasonable prices. I've been here for indoor dining, outdoor dining, takeout/delivery and the food has never disappointed me. The rolls are fresh, the restaurant is clean, and the staff is always efficient/friendly. They are closed on Mondays. Highly recommend!

The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared. It was much tastier than a lot of the options in Woodside I've had over the years and definitely gonna try to keep coming back to try more of their creative rolls. The service was attentive and accommodating, because we asked to be seated outside, and they moved around some tables for us. And since we ate outside, the ambience was really relaxing and pleasant to just eat sushi with. Love my experience here! and definitely recommend for anyone in the Queens area. Looking for a sushi spot with so many drink options!

TJs is the best sushi spot in the area. The food is consistently good and always FRESH. It is so important for a sushi spot to be clean and fresh. TJs is just that. The lunch specials are affordable and offer great portions. The offer fast delivery within the area. No need to use third party delivery platforms. In addition to great food at a great value, they are friendly and welcoming. Always courteous with great service. Note: they are temporarily closed on Monday.

Our team love the place. We work closer there at the Skillman. Chemist pharmacy. Price is right and reasonable so it was good to dine there.

The absolute best sushi in sunnyside and woodside. Amazing service and they are so nice. The restaurant is nice and inviting. Food comes out fast but not rushed. Sushi was nice fresh and well portioned. The appetizers were good and big. The prices are very reasonable. I HIGHLY recommend!

Never judge a book by its cover....I have passed by here multiple times and just never had any interest in even trying their food.....epic mistake. Went for lunch Saturday and was beyond pleasantly surprised with everything. The service was great my server was friendly and very accommodating.....the sushi was so fresh and tasty and I loved the seaweed salad. I was able to sit outside on a beautiful sunny warm day and just take in the sights and consume some of the best sushi in Sunnyside. I won't go anywhere else now and can't wait to get my next meal. They have seats inside as well.

For some reason, whenever I'm sick, I tend to feel like either Chinese or sushi. I like having smaller pieces I can pick from, rather than an entire sit down type of meal and of course, soup. My husband recently got the flu, so I thought he may like the same idea, not having much of a full appetite and all. I ordered takeout and even from the time I called to make my order, I was greeted with such a friendly tone, it immediately put me in a good mood. I ordered him the vegetable teriyaki lunch box and I ordered myself the chicken teriyaki lunch box. Both of those are an amazing value for the amount of food you get and they come with a soup or salad. I also ordered the vegetable yaki soba noodles and shrimp gyoza to have as something to pick on throughout the night or save for the next day. The order was ready quickly and everything was packed neatly, which I always appreciate with takeout. The presentation is great as is the food itself. Even with feeling I'll and not having an appetite, my husband ate the whole vegetable teriyaki box in two sittings that afternoon. My chicken teriyaki was great, could have used a touch more sauce, but otherwise, super filling. I had also asked to switch out the shumai for vegetable dumplings which were delicious and the spring rolls were so nice and crispy, probably my favorite part. Even when I was completely full, I kept going back to pick at the order of shrimp gyoza, they were that amazing. Perfect flavor and with just a dab of soy sauce... over the moon. The yaki soba noodles were really yummy as well, but they did have a slightly overwhelming mushroom aftertaste to them. I'm not the hugest mushroom fan, so I do wish I'd noticed that it had mushrooms so I may have asked for those to be excluded. However, with some sriracha, that was so easily fixed. This is a really wonderful neighborhood gem with such a great staff and incredible food - all at a really decent price point as well. Highly recommend. When my husband was feeling better the week after, we actually just went to dine in. It was a great experience. Very friendly and attentive wait staff and quick service. The food had a lovely presentation, and I love the attention to small details. This time, my husband got the beef fried rice and I had the shrimp and vegetable tempura. Our appetizers were the chicken satay and shrimp gyoza. Nothing disappointed. I tried the fried rice myself even though I don't eat beef. I would say the rice itself was a touch oily and needed just a sprinkling more of salt, but the spicy kick aftertaste made up for it. That's just a personal preference though, it was still great. My shrimp and vegetable tempura was deliciously crispy and SO filling after the appetizers. It came with rice (which I didn't take) and a soup or salad, and of course, I went for the yummy miso soup. The chicken satay looked delicious and my husband devoured it. It has a nice turmeric/curry smell to it (but I was way too full from eating most of the shrimp gyoza... can never say no to those). For two of us dining in with me having a glass of wine and him having two ramune sodas, everything came out to about $59 which, considering how much food we had was a value, I'd say! Highly highly recommend this place!

We ordered deliveries many times from TJ. This time we decided to dine in. It's a good-sized restaurant with at least 3-4 small tables outside and 6-7 tables for four inside the restaurant. They put a partition between each table. It looked perfect. The chairs were comfortable too. A small sushi bar is by the corner. Anyway, we had Yoki as our waitress. She was a terrific waitress, well trained too. We ordered double salmon for my bento which was served on a plate. Hubby had a sushi katsu combination. We also had salmon skin and seaweed salad for appetizer. Our dish came with a bowl of salad too. We both liked the finger dressing for the salad. One thing the place doesn't have is the yellow mustard. Hubby told Yoki to add that to the restaurant, or else he'll bring his own, haha! Maybe next time we can start cooking and making sushi there too. Overall, I prefer eating here rather than having it delivered. I loved my salmon, cooked to perfection. Hubby enjoyed his meal too. Nice place, great food, and service. Glad we have this in our neighborhood.

I really liked this place. I was hoping it would be great based off of all the positive reviews. Im surprised that I never came here until recently. But glad that I did. First we ordered the peach flavored sparkling sake to start off with our appetizer which is called the amazing composition, and it was amazing (haha) in taste and the presentation as it is a chef special with salmon, tuna, jalapeño, and seaweed salad. Even the waitress asked if we minded if she took a picture of it. I thought it would be spicy, but it wasn't. Also, ordered Tuna Tartar which had tuna, scallion, masago with special sauce. The special sauce gave it a good kick. The waitress gave us great recommendations. For entrees I ordered the Sashimi deluxe off of the sushi bar entrees section and asked if I wanted a bowl of rice to go along with it which I accepted. I was craving sashimi so this definitely helped. My friend ordered the Spider Roll and Hidden Mango Roll. I did try the Spider roll, but didn't get a chance to try the other roll. But if you're a fan of mango, you should try it. We were at the tipping point between almost full to full so we wanted something else so we shared the Seafood Yaki Udon. This was okay, but it needed some spice. But great for seafood lovers as it has shrimp, scallop, squid, kani and fish cake. Since we finished the first sparkling sake bottle had to order another flavor which was Yuzu. All in all I will be going back as they have so many food items on the menu which I would like to try.

I order takeout from this place several times a month. It's always ready for pickup within 20 minutes and delivery is fast too. Prices are so reasonable, especially their dinner and lunch boxes. You get a lot of food for your money and everything is delicious!!!

This is the best sushi spot around the area. I wish I had found it sooner... the prices are super affordable, which make you wonder how good the quality is, and then the quality turns out to be delicious. I was able to try regular rolls and specialty rolls, and all of them tasted fresh and prepared with care. They use the perfect amount of rice, were generous with the fish, and had beautiful plating. Make sure you leave a good tip, this place deserves it. Update - went again and still amazing! Might want to come once a week.

This place is amazing. Dinner reservations always grated. I always call ahead my table is ready. The waiters always is tentative and makes sure you always have water or if you need a drink he is ready to serve you. This is worth it. Delivery service is also great. They actually take the time to put every sushi roll in a different container so the flavor stays fresh. The sauce to each roll stay on the actual roll. Will come back and do it every Sunday.

I have ordered from here many times in the last two years. It's probably my fave sushi spot in the neighborhood. My issue is the manager. He is so rude, condescending, and combative. Out of the probably 40 times I've ordered, I have only had an issue twice. Which is honestly a great track record. My issue is how awful the manager is at dealing with issues. He is beyond rude, and I can assure you if I was a man on the phone he wouldn't be talking to me like a piece of garbage. I had an issue once and was told I would get credit, after an unnecessary back and forth with the manager, he let us know it would be on our file and whoever answers will be able to see it on our account. Well..next time we order the person on the phone has no idea what I am talking about. No big deal, and we order anyways. Today I call and say the fish we received is off (same thing I order always) and the manager lets us know we can get a credit and they will leave a note on the account. I bring up how I was told that last time, and wanted to double check it would actually be put on there this time. He gets upset and assumes I'm wanting the credit from last time ??? When I was just wanting to clarify it wouldn't be an issue this time. I would understand if I was coming off rude, but I wasn't at all. I love this local spot and would like to keep coming, WHICH IS WHAT I ALWAYS tell him. I don't know what Karen traumatized this man, but he doesn't need to shut down and get confrontational when something isn't right on their end Edit: I posted this, and the manager decided to call me! Which is so unprofessional!! I actually am sitting here shocked like "did that actually just happen?" Will be doing both parties a favor and won't be ordering again. He said he was trying to apologize, while simultaneously trying to go back and forth like he always does. I don't want to be disrespected or harassed.

Tj's has been nothing but consistent throughout the years of me living in sunnyside. Best chicken katsu!

We've been to TJ a few times but order delivery at least once every two weeks, they've not once let us down, it's always fast and fresh, even with soup, gets here hot and we're not super close either.

Haven't been in ages and it hasn't changed great lunch special deals fresh food we ate it all and enjoyed it. Unagi Don was yummy and the salmon teriyaki was devoured. I ordered three rolls - shrimp tempura, spicy white tuna and philly roll. Service was attentive and the dividers between tables was appreciated.

Tj bistró is my favorite Japanese spot. One a week I make my to go order, and when my family comes to visit NY I bring them to enjoy some sushi. TJ's team are kind and so special. The sushi is soooo sooo amazing, so delicious. My main roll is the volcano.

Right along Skillman Ave on the Sunnyside / Woodside border is TJ Asian Bistro, which has steadily become one of the area's most well known sushi establishments. The name (#1) may not exude the Japanese authenticity like some of other sushi joints in the area, but they're a solid choice, especially amongst the Chinese-owned sushi community. (#2) The place is not large, but they've done a good job with the layout to include a nice array of tables for all parties. While there is a sushi counter to watch the chefs in action, as expected, there is no omakase available here. The pricepoint of the menu wouldn't support something so drastic, but hard core sushi fans may stand to be disappointed. No matter, the intimate lighting of this place makes it pseudo date friendly and good for small groups. Sushi wise, they are not small. The portions are impressive given the grade of fish they're using and dwaring much of the local competition. The prices might feel a tad bit higher for Sunnyside / Woodside, but certainly merited given how substantial the meat is. Generally speaking, I leave the funny name rolls (#3) for everyone else and try to stick with their simple stuff that have one or two ingredients at best. Their handrolls are nicely stuffed and the nigiri seems to have a nice slab of fish on the rice. A little wasabi and an appetite and I'm good to go. I haven't tried much of hot food items minus the tempura and katsu sections, but I would reserve much of the food for sushi. I would only resort to the cooked portion if I had a non-raw food eating companion with me. Always a good place for meeting, celebrate and even dating. My wife and I love to come for sushi. The smoked salmon fried rice is a must!

If you want to eat out with a toddler then don't go here. I came with with my toddler and a friend and their toddler and was to keep it down and walked away before we could even say a word to him. We were extremely uncomfortable after that but told our little ones to try to lower their voices. Our toddlers were sitting in their seats the whole time, talking and playing with their chapsticks and minutes later we were told to keep it down again! So rude! We left immediately after. Will never go back there.

Yay - we found our new Japanese spot! Despite me often having reservations with sushi restaurants that have "Asian," "bistro" or "lounge" in the title (because that usually = "fusion where we offer Thai/Japanese/Chinese/other and don't do any really well"), this is happily NOT that kind of place. My man friend and I rolled in on a cold night and were impressed by the service, quality and atmosphere. We were served complimentary hot tea immediately (which the kind, attentive server topped us off on throughout the night). We ordered some wine (which was basically happy hour prices for any other place!) and received very generous pours. I got two rolls - including their green roll, which was HUGE and generously topped with lots of seaweed salad. Man friend got the bento box (salmon teriyaki and sashimi as entree choices), and we were both pleasantly surprised at both the presentation and portion: a big piece of salmon teriyaki, 6 beautiful pieces of sashimi, 3 big shumai and a California roll - along with a full miso soup and salad with delicious ginger dressing! I'm definitely trying the veg bento box next time. Highly recommend :)

Probably one of the best sushi spots in Queens! It's located right near the 52nd st subway stop off the 7 train. We were seated by the bar and they gave us a free app because my friend lives around there and goes a lot. The sushi is by far one of the freshest sushi places I've had- even including manhattan...especially for the price!!!! We got a bunch of dishes to try- I can't remember which ones but the Jalapeno Yellowtail is SO GOOD!!!! The jalapeno really gives it a KICK! We shared a bunch of sashimi and dragon rolls- SO GOOD. Everything was really fresh and the service was really nice!! I also recommend the Hamachi-Kama (broiled yellowtail neck with spicy ponzu sauce)- it looks like a wing but it's the meat is so tender. The spicy ponzu sauce had a really nice kick to it too!!! I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu! High quality sushi and decent prices- can't beat that!! I would come back into Queens just for this place!!

Best sushi in town! Always fresh & amazing. Their lunch specials are the best! The price is amazing and so is the quality. We just can't get enough of this place. It's so good that my 3 year old wants to bring sushi in to celebrate her birthday in daycare

The best sushi place ever. I never liked sushi but after trying this place sushi became my favorite but only from this place. Their sushi have a great taste not like other sushi places. It's very cheap and kinda romantic atmosphere

Service great and fast delivery but food is not prices reasonable but FOOD NOT TASTY AT ALL I ordered spicy tuna roll $5.50 and crunchy lobster roll $8.50 Both rolls have a same taste of some kind of unknown substance" mushy something " nothing crunchy either! If its it's a same substance they're charging for Lobster roll unfairly! Extra for the name I suppose? Chicken satay $7. 55 advertised with peanut sauce but in reality just Curry dressing ! Yes color is similar but not the taste! Does their cook know the difference? One is sweet nutty and the other is mustardy bitter! Meat was dry . I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED NOT GOING TO ORDER ANY FOOD FROM THIS PLACE AGAIN

I have been at this place more than 20 times since mid 2017 when I moved to NY. From my experience it is quite hard to find a place that can offer a great and fresh sushi variety at a good price. The beautiful decoration, amazing food, always friendly staff and the remarkable speed of their work requieres no less than 5 stars and the highest recommendation possible. PD: On 2018 when I had to move to another place in the city due to a new job, one of the reasons to look around woodside was to be close to this place.

They are not an authentic Japanese restaurant. It is like chinese food disguised with Japanese restaurant sign. They don't even know the Soba noodle. I would not recommend this place.

During COVID-19 have picked up from them 5x. They now have delivery again too. It can get busy but the quality has been there. Been getting my fix here for years.

Me,as a Japanese food lover I wish I could rate this restaurant more then 5 star coz. Everything is soo good.Their maki roll &nigiri sushi has perfect right quantity.This is my 3rd visit here service quality is always on top of that. All I wanna suggest them is just need to update the sake menu the most recent well reviewed sake because their sake list wasn't that wawoo with the food pairing . Besides that everything else is sooooooooo good We will be back

I've been going here for years. These guys are the bomb. Fish is always fresh and delicious. Service is great whether eating in or taking out.

Food was so good I even forgot to take a picture. Same day reservation and was seated in less than 50 seconds. Food was brought out fresh and quickly. We ordered rock n roll sushi roll, green monster roll and dinner box and fried rice. Everything was absolutely great. 10/10 recommend WILL COME BACK WHEN IN NYC

This review is for delivery only. The ordering process was easy. They said it would take 30-40 mins but it took 20 so that was a plus. The delivery guy was polite. Food: Hannah naruto - the cucumber was super thin so it had the potential to break and fall apart but it was super tasty and I liked the eel-like sauce it came with. Yellow tail sashimi and white tuna sashimi - decent size pieces! Some restaurants really jip you off with the sashimi pieces but these were nicely sized and tasted fresh.

I have been a religious sushi eater since I first tried sushi when I was about 13 years old. I have tried sushi restaurant after sushi restaurant in Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn - sometimes it feels like all of them in NYC. I moved to Sunnyside almost 2 years ago and was disappointed by some of the sushi restaurants that were in the area. I actually gave up and started going back to Flushing for sushi when I was craving it. I shared this frustration with a friend and she asked if I had tried TJ. I hadn't even really walked that far down Skillman (I think it's technically considered woodside). Well, long story short - I'm so glad I found TJ. Not just because I am happy that there is fresh sushi by my house, but because it is some of the best sushi in Queens! SUPER fresh. I eat here much more then the normal person should. The service is also spectacular. I really would recommend this restaurant for all to try!! If you haven't been there yet, get there ASAP! I'll probably order some tonight. :)

Came here based on a stranger's recommendation on where to eat around Woodside and was so pleasantly surprised! The sashimi was thick-cut and tasted deliciously fresh. Must try the white tuna! The rolls were great, especially the Dinosaur and Say T. We also ordered Ikura on a whim and were not disappointed! Alcohol was cheap and surprisingly tasty. Can't beat $5 a glass! Overall a great meal and will definitely be coming back.
