Taiwanese Fried Chicken Chain TKK Opens First Texas Location in Richardson - Eater Dallas

"TKK, a cult-favorite Taiwanese chain known for its crispy fried chicken and cheese curds, has officially opened its doors in Richardson. It debuted yesterday inside the space at 2067 North Central Expressway, Suite 100, that also houses Kung Fu Tea. As reported previously, it’s the first Texas outpost for the chain, which currently operates more than 60 restaurants in Taiwan and beyond, including a New York location in 2018. According to Eater New York critic Robert Sietsema, the chain is a purveyor of “delicious fast food mayhem” thanks to dishes like fried kwa ka bao, a deep-fried sticky rice roll and, of course, the famed fried chicken. At TKK in Richardson, that kwa ka bao is also on the menu, along with a bounty of deep-fried delights like curly fries smothered in bacon and cheese and fried cheese curds. A menu of bubble teas and juices from Kung Fu Tea boasts plenty of options to wash all that down with, like ube shakes loaded down with boba and classic milk tea. From now until October 31, TKK is in “soft-opening” mode, and will be slinging dishes Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday." - Amy McCarthy

Okay, rarely post about a bad place. Especially right after I got out of the place, this place really is not recommended. im sorry. We waited for a long time to get our order. I'm sorry but even the waitress was not at all good. She works there but pays no attention to what's happening. She takes your order and just sits in a corner and pays no attention and always at a blank. It wasnt even busy when we got there we were the only ones there until like 10min someone finally showed up and this was at lunch time. We had the chicken fried chicken and well it took long you would think it would come out right cooked well, nope it was still clucking it was still laying eggs that's how raw it was. I'm sorry but the waitress is around maybe 26yrs old im pretty sure she knows what cooked and raw chicken looks like. She said its not raw im like yes it is raw its still cold and super pink. She had to call her supervisor and they said oh no its the seasoning. What that's not seasoning that's raw. Omg don't eat here I spent $25 for raw chicken and they never once said let me at least give you half back. I wouldn't mind getting at least half back but no. They said we will cook again and well no im pretty sure it was raw again we just left because they didn't care about the customers. I'm out $25 and only ate the coleslaw and fries. Don't eat here the service alone was a red flag 🚩🚩🚩

I'm a bit confused as to why the current rating is so low. The staff is very friendly, it's clean, the atmosphere is nice, and the food was great. I got the spicy two piece meal and my boyfriend got the wings; the chicken was very juicy and has a great flavor, the cheese curds were really good too, the corn is good and has an unique flavor and the taro slush was really good too. Sure there was a bit of a wait but I suspect it's because they make it fresh.

Got the #5 combo - Fried chicken, and I got the 3 piece combo set. Crispy, mild and it was delicious. I got my to-go, so I'll judge based off of that and the wait time. Wait time was a bit long, but it wasn't terrible. I think I waited about 10 - 15 minutes for my food. Now because I did a to-go order, a bit of my crispy fried goodness was a little soggy, but that's on me cause of the steam but it over 98% was still crispy. Got back to my destination to eat it, and it was hot and juicy. Biscuit was delicious, (could use some butter) and the coleslaw was also tasty.

like other reviews have mentioned, service was kind of slow (it was not particularly packed when I went), but I think they only had 3 people working. I didn't mind as I was catching up with a friend. This location is both a TKK fried chicken and KungFu Tea The TKK wings were great! The meat was tender and the coating was crispy. The biscuit was also pretty good as well. Out of the fries options, I would recommend the curly fries over the sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were too thick and not crispy enough for me. I didn't get the chicken tenders, but they looked sad.. pale, small, and thin coating. Lastly, I got the White Grape punch, which was solid! The inside is clean, and they have a couple games as well. This TKK/KungFu Tea is a decent spot for a casual hangout!

This is not the Taiwanese fried chicken it used to be. Not authentic T.K.K. and poor service. Service was slow, It took us a long time to get our order and they served us very spicy wings when we ordered regular not spicy wings. The staff insisted they gave us regular non spicy wings but the wings we got was definitely spicy and they wouldn't admit their mistake.

Randomly closed on a Saturday afternoon. What can I say. They are really trying hard to go out of business.

Pricey but good food (as expected). Below par service. Standard food as it’s a chain restaurant. We like their recipes so we didn’t mind paying a little premium for their food. Experienced staff, but lacking smiles, passion, and genuineness. We felt like we were ordering with a robot. Could really use some improvements on staff friendliness. Drink service was quick. Food was freshly cooked so it took a little time. Food didn’t disappoint us! Will definitely return (for the food and not the service).

A little expensive for the size of the chicken and the freshness of the cooked meat. It is hard sell compared to the fried chicken being served at Taiwanese places in Plano. Hopefully, the product improves before their grand opening. I am guessing you are paying higher because of the packaging and branding.
