"This Indian street food restaurant began serving fast-casual way before it was a thing in New York. Now, 15 years after opening, Kati Roll and its stuffed paratha flatbreads are a go-to. Kati rolls are all under $8 and include options like beef tikka with eggs, a chicken tikka roll, and a roll stuffed with a lamb and lentil patty. Two will fill someone up." - Jasmine Ting, Eater Staff

Found this place totally by accident. Looked interesting and thought I would try it because it's not something I can get back home. I was not disappointed! I got Unda Chicken Roll, Chicken Momos, chips and carrot cake. Everything was delicious! I took it back to the hotel and even though it was at least 45 minutes after getting the food before I was able to eat, everything was still delicious. The staff was great as well. Very patient and helped me choose which sauce for the Momos. It was also very reasonably priced. $26 and it definitely could have fed two people. I expected it to take a little while since I didn't call ahead but it was ready very quickly.

I recently visited Kathi Roll Center, and it was a fantastic experience! The food was absolutely delicious, especially the kathi rolls which were packed with authentic Indian flavors. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The ambiance was welcoming and comfortable, perfect for a casual meal with friends or family. Overall, a great place to enjoy some tasty Indian cuisine. Highly recommended!

Google
Most amazing Kati rolls ever! We got the shammi egg roll and chicken tikka egg roll. Each 7.95 which I thought was super reasonable price in the city. Our kids got chicken Momo and I got a Spicy potato chips. We all loved the food !!

Google
The food is so delicious. This is a hidden gem! We tried the Unda Chicken roll and the Shami kebab roll and the spicy potato chips. We dined in the restaurant. It was so tasty! Loved the food. Location is great too.

Good place to pick up quick food on the go… limited seating Also it’s “momo” not “momo-s” the same term is for plural — like sheep

Delicious Kathi Roll Experience. I recently had the pleasure of trying the Kathi roll at this restaurant, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. The flavors were exquisite, and every bite was a burst of deliciousness. I highly recommend trying the Kathi roll at this restaurant. Whether you're a fan of Indian cuisine or just looking to try something new and delicious, this dish is a must-try. The service was excellent, and the ambiance added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. Overall, my experience was fantastic, and I will definitely be coming back for more.

Stopped by today as it is in my new neighborhood. The rolls were very good and for a reasonable price and I liked that there were vegan and vegetarian options. You can see the food being made for you which I liked. The wait wasn't long. I took the loyalty card and will be back.

Manasa A.

Yelp
Well priced kati rolls.Tiny seating area with a couple of tables to sit. Their spicy potato chips are really good. The staff can be a little nicer.

Priya K.

Yelp
I have not had a Kati roll this good! We tried aloo masala, chicken tikka and achari paneer kati rolls. Every single one was absolutely delicious! They are so reasonably priced and taste so fresh. Service is fast and efficient.

Yelp
Delicious!!!! There are several of these in manhattan. They are all delicious. I always get the chicken tikka roll and it is always yummy. Nothing fancy just well priced, tasty indian food!!!

Sheri M.

Yelp
I loved the excellent delicious Kati roll- it was wonderful! I received fantastic service from the 2 kind employees Anish and Ruzina, both very generous and positive energy! it was a wonderful, delightful experience!

Sasha M.

Yelp
I love Kati Roll! It's delicious and a great option when I'm in the office and don't want to eat another bowl. I usually get one chicken unda roll, definitely a fav!

Latha P.

Yelp
Just average Shammi Kabab roll . Not bad Chicken Tikka roll . Not so bad Spicy Potato Chips n really bad Gajar Halwa bites summarizes my experience in a nutshell. It's a tiny hole in the wall take out place in NYC that we found. From their menu description their rolls seems appetizing but in reality they didn't taste match up to our imagination . Chicken tikka roll was mildly spiced & it lacked the grilled flavor. Chicken was also overcooked . Shammi roll has Lamb croquettes which was also flavorless and didn't offer any wow factor . Carrot Halwa bites was missing the cardamom and seemed quite bland ! Didn't live up to its hype !

Yelp
My friend recommended to me a while ago. I am glad I made a note for this place! Very small place but tasty food!

Tahini R.

Yelp
Overpriced and extremely rude staff! I'm better of making Kati rolls myself at home. One is also not enough for most people as it is a tiny and thin paratha roll. Two is a better idea if you want to feel satisfied. They also charge $1 each for every sauce you may want. What a rip off! Also, recently I tried the Too Good to go app and reserved a Kati roll surprise bag and was shocked at how nonchalant and disrespectful the staff were. They acted like they didn't know what it was and acted like there wasn't any food left. The food was paid for and reserved on the app so I expected to get my food. After some argument with one of the staff, the food was somehow magically found. Terrible! Don't recommend going to this Midtown East location!

Yelp
taste wise, kati roll company is pretty good! i got the chicken tikki roll & it was quite flavorful. the downside was that the chicken was on the drier side, and it almost seemed to be reheated because some parts were harder/colder than the rest. also, the roll is on the smaller side, as one will likely not fill you up. what really stood out (negatively) during my visit here were the employees. the guy took my order then turned around and spoke w other employees and left my friend standing there for a few minutes before he clocked out and the other guy asked "oh did you order yet?" two people behind us walked out because the employees were super inattentive to the guests and were having their own side conversations when people were waiting to order.

Amanda Z.

Yelp
Ordered the unda chicken and achari paneer rolls. The unda chicken was too dry but had good flavor. The achari paneer was really good, flavorful and mildly spicy. Overall I enjoyed both but the 2 rolls came out to be almost $20 even though they were hand-sized and wouldn't have been filling as a meal.

AJ J.

Yelp
food is good, but I was a little confused when they wouldn't give me the 10% off student discount when it's right in front of the pos. they said not today sorry?? Usually don't have bad experiences here but still strange nonetheless. I also didn't receive the right amount of stamps.

Doug W.

Yelp
This location was good, not the best I had been to but the food was still good. It's a small location but they often are, they weren't the fastest or overly friendly to say the least, and I feel like I payed too much for the amount of food given. This is pretty standard with the kathi roll company actually. If you go, get the lamb and the goat, the chicken too. Skip the cheese. The white sauce is slightly bland and way thin, it'll cost you to get extra even though they don't put enough on to begin with. All this being said I still enjoy the flavors these things pack in, especially on the whole wheat rather than the flour rolls.

Jon J.

Yelp
When they first opened, I was an early adopter and advocate. Over the years, the quality has really declined. Their pricing has increased pretty dramatically, which I understand and generally support between Covid/inflation etc. That said, the rolls just are not as delicious as they used to be and the service has really fallen off. I don't enjoy posting negative reviews since the restaurant industry overall has been hammered the past couple of years..... But as much as I still crave Kati Rolls, these days I rarely commit because I end up paying a lot for a mediocre meal. Chicken almost always is dried out (don't get the sense they are making it throughout the day anymore, but reheating previously cooked batches. The potato is lacking "something", can't tell you what exactly but they aren't the same as they used to be. No more shrimp (bummer). Last time I went they were out of the rolls and switched me to the Roti - not the same experience. Hope they can course correct, when their product is strong, they are a great option. But that's just not the case these days.

Meghna S.

Yelp
Not sure if the problem is with the location or generally standard of Kati roll company has fallen below par. We ordered egg roll, chicken and egg roll and one aalpo egg roll for take out. There was hardly any filling in either and negligible amount of chutney filling. The bread on Kati roll was dry and thick. There was nothing positive to really talk about the food here. Substandar at best.

Anahi A.

Yelp
The food is so fresh and so delicious! Do yourself a favor... go and enjoy you won't be disappointed!

Annie C.

Yelp
The kati roll is a trustworthy solid spot. Unfortunately it has gotten more and more expensive over time. Also, I recently tried the momos and didn't enjoy them. I would recommend sticking with any of the rolls; don't forget you need two of them to be a meal!

Diane J.

Yelp
My friend had catered kati rolls from this particular Kati Roll Company, and I more or less went on a marathon of trying out different types of rolls. *Definitely a vegetarian-friendly place!* Two of my friends are strict vegetarians, and this is one of their go-to late night drunk foods. What is a kati roll? It's originally a street food from West Bengal. The kati roll is usually made with roasted skewer kebabs rolled into paratha bread, or Indian flatbread. Kati kebabs were originally beef, but now you can get a variety of different meats and veggies. The kati rolls here have great seasoning mix that's not too spicy, and their parathas are both crunchy and chewy. Personal favorites: Chicken Tikka Roll - grilled chicken marinated in yogurt and spices Shami Kabab Roll - minced lamb and lentil patty with herbs and spices Chana Masala Roll - Chickpeas with tomatoes and blackening spices My friend also loves the Achari Paneer Roll (Grilled Indian cheese cubes), but I avoided that one because I'm lactose intolerant lol.

Yelp
If I want a quick lunch in the city it usually requires something I can have on the go, not too pricey and satisfying. Most of the time, I get stuck trying to decide between the corner slice of pizza or the gyro guy. But there's also the Kati Roll. It's quick, affordable, fresh, and you can eat it on the go- which is a plus! Each roll is sprinkled with chaat masala (a mix of 30 spices!) a green chutney, consisting of cilantro, as well as some raw and cooked onions. Even though many much spices are added to each roll, the taste is very subtle and not too overpowering. I hate when I can just taste the condiments and then the bread, but this time the bread to meat ratio was just perfect! Kati Roll offers five flavors of lassi, which was shocking to me because I didn't think it was possible at all. They have the classic mango lassi, mishti doi lassi (dates), Kesar pista (pistachio), orange blossom, and mixed berry. I personally loved the mixed berry and mango. The orange tasted identical to a cream orange popsicle and the misthi lassi I wasn't a fan of, although Adnan loved it! I think I'll stick to my orange popsicle, because I didn't like it in lassi form. As for the pistachio- it was great for pistachio lovers, I am not a pistachio lover. And no I didn't forget the masala chai, I was sure to squeeze that in even after all the food I had, and I'm glad that I did because I am now a fan of their masala chai. It's blended perfectly, not too powerful and just the way I like it- MILK! What people dont know about Kati Roll : Back in 1929 when America was on the verge of Great Depression, many other countries were already suffering from Economic Depression. In Calcutta, India during 1929's a food concept started called " Kati Roll " it was a good source of cheap food containing bread, egg and meat or veggies ... Now once considered the Food for Peasants in India are Favorites of Uber-Posh :) All thanks to Payal Saha, whose credited with introducing Indian kati rolls to American diners and the eatery which remains true to its simple menu of meat and vegetarian kati rolls, lassis and chips all still made fresh daily by hand.

Aamir N.

Yelp
Tried it twice Dry and tough to chew chicken, parathas are thick and oily. Please eat something else than a below average food.

Henry T.

Yelp
I don't understand why there is hype surrounding these Kati rolls and why everyone says they're so delicious. I came close to closing time (probably about 10 minutes prior) and ordered the chicken Massala roll and some beef roll. I received my order in about 5 minutes to-go. When I opened my bag, the roll looked good was tasted mediocre at best. The meat wasn't seasoned enough in my opinion and the roll was pretty small considering the fact that I paid $14.32 for 2 rolls that didn't even get me remotely full. I would see why this would be a perfect grab-and-go snack, but I probably won't be returning and trying out their other rolls since they're overly bland and tasteless (maybe the fact that I came close to closing time had something to do with it idk.)

Namratha R.

Yelp
Great place to chill with friends over nostalgic street food. Their craft beer was a refreshing pleasant surprise.

Gordon W.

Yelp
The kati roll selection is diverse and good for a filling lunchtime meal if you happen to work or live in the area. I tried the chicken tikka and lamb ones which were well seasoned and flavorful, but the meat was on the drier and tougher side. It can also get extremely busy during lunch on weekdays. In general I would visit again for the food but the wait time and only OK quality can be downsides.

Jean R.

Yelp
First time having a kati roll and it definitely reminded me of eating taquitos or a smaller burrito! I can definitely see this place being a go-to for a quick and savory snack. This was one of the few places around Midtown that were opened during New Years so my bf and I balled out with 5 rolls to share. Probably could've gotten away with 3 or 4 since they were quite greasy and the sauces, that they claimed were already in the rolls, didn't quite do the job in cutting the grease down. We ordered the: Unda Aloo Roll - forgettable Unda Chicken Roll - juicy chicken and the most filling Shami Kabab Roll - forgettable, everything tasted mushy Kosha Mangsho Roll - delicious! loved the spices in this one

Yelp
If you're looking for something healthy, or concerned about your diet, look elsewhere. Kati Roll is food for the soul, and has everything your body needs, and probably things you don't need either. But, it's yummy, and guaranteed to hit the spot. Kati roll is Indian street food, typically my wife and I opt for the Tandoori Chicken Kati Roll. This roll (equivalent to a burrito) consists of marinated chicken, wrapped in a flour pan-fried bread, similar to a thicker and tastier tortilla, with sauteed onions and mint and tamarind chutney. I strongly recommend not breathing on anyone afterwards! Orders are placed online only, or at the location, there is no option for phone orders. The location is small, and I believe there may be a table or two for seating. Not sure why this place only has 3.5 stars, I don't come here for the service, or to use the bathrooms, I'm here solely for the Kati Rolls, which are as good as they come. I know, I'm Indian, and eat like I have a worm!

Bhavin S.

Yelp
I ordered vegetarian achari paneer roll at the 53rd Street loc. They instead served me Shammi Roll. I took it back to them with the receipt and told them this hurt my religious sentiments and they asked me to leave the place . Very insensitive and unprofessional.

Munish M.

Yelp
My favorite lunch place in City. Anda chicken kathi rolls are just Awesome! Am so glad that they have multiple locations

Nicole S.

Yelp
Hi, I have found it very difficult to get in touch with a manager after I had a horrible experience at the midtown east location. My husband and I had the absolute worst kati rolls we have ever had Saturday June 17th at around 1:30 am. It takes a lot for me to actually complain but this warranted that. My husband actually went in today(we left for barcelona after we picked up our Kati Rolls that night) and the same guy named Will said he isn't authorized to give a refund. He is that same man who was working that night who I CALLED after we realized how poorly made our food was. He took my number down and assured me a manager would contact me. No one has called me. The paratha was so drenched in oil they were barely holding together. There was barely ANY meat and the filling was so none existent that they were rolled six times. All I want is a refund.

Ritu S.

Yelp
The food is below average. The roll was dry and hard to chew. Don't recommend it at all.

Kristy R.

Yelp
I love love love Indian food. Fortunately, so do my coworkers. We recently decided to go here after one of said coworkers kept going on and on about how delicious the food was. I was sold when I checked out their menu online and saw not only did they offer kati rolls but they also had a few lassis to choose from. A lassi, in my opinion, is the best way to wash down pretty much any Indian dish, while also putting out the fire that your mouth might become after eating some of the food. The earlier you get here, the better. By 12:05 (when we arrived) the line was nearly out the door. The food does come out quick but the space is small and there isn't much room to wait (one long bench, two tables). The drinks are off to a fridge on the side (the lassis are next to beer, go figure) and one lady takes your order with a fancy looking tablet while guys in the back assemble your rolls. I tried the chana masala roll. It was delicious! It doesn't look like much but trust me, it's extremely filling. It was incredibly flavorful and wasn't messy (they wrap each roll three times in wax paper to prevent any sort of mess). The pistachio lassi I had washed the food down perfectly. They also give you your food in a cute little plastic bag that comes with a handle. This was extremely helpful when searching my bag for my work ID. Definitely a grab and go type spot. Like I previously mentioned, there is really barely any space to sit and if you DO find a seat, someone's ass will be in your face while you wait for your food. The Kati Roll Company has become a lunch staple for me.

Sonal T.

Yelp
This place is nowhere near authentic..flavorless,cold,unfresh is what comes to mind instead. There are much better Indian eateries in manhattan then this place..so please save ur time/appetite and money and skip this place!

Katya K.

Yelp
My mouth just got face F***ed with flavors! The Kosha Mangsho roll with slow braised goat and red onion is to dye for. Get two rolls for a meal or one for a big snack. They are each about 7$. Cheaper for veg. The achari paneer roll was great too.

Tannu S.

Yelp
This place calls you back for a quick snack while strolling the streets of NYC to relive the moments from school/college in India where you pickup kathi rolls on your way back... Anyways being a vegetarian myself I tried 3 from their vegetarian menu, when my friends ordered egg shami kabab, chicken rolls and egg chicken rolls. After trying from the vegetarian menu, they were also convinced the veg rolls were better here... something very rare to hear. My personal fav in descending order would be mixed veggie roll, achari paneer and then Chana roll. If you like Indian street food, you might want to try this place with a sit down along with their tea or beer. P.S. Although wheat paranthas (on the oily side) are used instead of traditional kathi roll bread and they are pricier for the amount served! One roll is not filling, so order at least two for a meal.

Charles K.

Yelp
Kati Roll Company delivers a quick delicious lunch option especially for people on the go. The rolls are akin to mini burritos. Instead of being filled with rice and beans or carne asada they are filled with Indian flavors. The unda (egg) tikka masala and goat roll are my favorites. I like that they are so easy to eat on the go and dont weight you down or induce the itis as much as traditional indian food. I think the next step for them would be having more options other than the green sauce they put on yall their rolls. Its make the experience better imo. Additionally, their customer service isnt bad, its not good either, its just par for the course. The 53rd st location is on the smaller side. Id say you can comfortably fit 10 diners in there at once.

Cara B.

Yelp
I love Kati Roll! I tired it about a year ago and I have been back multiple times. The service is quick so it is perfect for quick lunch on the go. I have tried a few of the different rolls including the chicken tikka roll, beef tikka roll, shrimp masala roll, and the chana masala roll. All of them are very tasty! The last time I went I tried the beef tikka roll and I really loved it and right now I think that is my favorite one! But before my last visit I would always order the shrimp masala roll and the chana masala roll. I really like this place and I love the flavors of all the different rolls!

Najwa G.

Yelp
Reasonably priced and great quality. Made fresh (literally make it directly in front of you haha)- as mentioned on a poster in the store 1 is a snack and 2 is a meal! But of course you can just have as many as your heart desires haha. I tried the paneer- had a lot of cheese in it. Definitely ask for green sauce on the side, it's free!

M J.

Yelp
Delicious rolls. Tastes like the homemade stuff you get when you go to someone's house. Order take a while to get ready so be sure to be patient. Mango lassi isn't made in house, rather it's a bottle that's made elsewhere and tastes like mango juice, not lassi.

anthony r.

Yelp
I hadn't been as excited for lunch in a while. The glorious smell of spices, fresh bread and meats was overwhelming. It literally forced me to eat lunch at 11:30 when I was only checking it out initially. I hadn't heard of a kati roll so the manager/owner told me about them (full disclosure they came to our company via Fooda-yeah, we're very fortunate). He described them so perfectly and with such caring that I had to just order them (that and the smell kept wafting toward me). I went for two rolls - one chicken tikka & one lamb. I got an extra serving of chimmichuri as well. I started with the chicken which was just moist enough & very flavorful. The homemade paratha balanced it out perfectly. I went thru it pretty quickly (using the proper ripping of the paper technique (as described in the handout) and had ample room for the lamb schwarma. POW - lamb was outstanding! While I really enjoyed the chicken the lamb nailed it on all counts. I heavied up on the sauce for this one and it only made it better. I only hope next time they have the egg option I've heard about too!! I'm so glad I decided to see what a kati roll was and jumped in head first. I'll be rolling again soon.

Jay D.

Yelp
Great food, good prices (especially given the size of the Kati rolls), and quick service! What more can you ask for?

Farah K.

Yelp
What could be better than different proteins grilled and stuffed into a roti/paratha/flatbread accompanied by chutneys and pickled vegetables? Not very many things. (Although there's an extensive selection available for Vegetarians too! So maybe not just highlighting the meat here) Cost effective? Yep. Stays open late? Yes, on the weekends when you're probably drunk and looking for some late night food to gorge on. The interior is super small, but most people seem to just order, grab and go. I chose the Shrimp Kati Roll and the Chicken Tikka Kati roll, and both were absolutely delicious and filling. If you find yourself in the vicinity absolutely get some rolls and wash it down with some mango lassi.

Annie G.

Yelp
Got two mix vege kati rolls and a can of Coke. The kati rolls were delicious. Service was fast. When I went around 12pm on a Tuesday, there were a few empty tables. The restaurant is tiny, so I wouldn't recommend going there with more than one person if you plan on eating there. I didn't like how they don't serve the rolls with any chutney/dip. I believe that is extra, so I'm giving them 4 stars for my review.

Maria D.

Yelp
First time here. Had the chicken tikka roll. Wow! So tasty thru and thru. A hint of turmeric and curry; very mild spicy. The bread was soooo tasty; has a buttery aftertaste. I wish they sold this bread in quantities. Service was quick. Small area to eat in. Clean and friendly staff. One roll will fill you up. Indian light snack at its best!

Saba N.

Yelp
Kati roll used to be the go to place to grab some Indian style rolls. Back in the day with only one location in MacDougal, they used to be the place with perfect kick of spice and flavor and long lines. Now with multiple locations and falling standards and flavor,It's just lost its appeal to me. Recently I went in to grab a quick roll thinking of 'achari paneer roll' , which used to be my favorite along with 'aloo', and 'chana' rolls. It saddens me say the flavor and quality was lacking so much!! It's like what happened?? Didn't I paid premium price for the kati roll brand and I get a barely warm and soggy wrap hurriedly prepared and slab together smh. Definitely not coming back !! I think that was the last time I gave them a try. If you want some flavorful rolls try Thaliwala with some mean spicy rolls.

Amit V.

Yelp
I loved their food back in the day. But then the quality deteriorated. No flavour. No salt. I stopped ordering for several months. Not sure why but I ordered via their app today. I placed an order from their 53rd street location between 2nd/3rd ave location in nyc. And AFTER I placed the order via the app it said I should pick up tomorrow at noon. That's crazy. Why not say that clearly when I am setting up my order. I went to the store and they were about to close. The guy was totally unhelpful. He saw my order in their system but said they are closed. Asked me to call Grubhub. That's odd given I ordered via their own app. I called them 10 minutes later asking I can't call Grubhub because I didn't order via them. He was unhelpful. Asked me to come back tomorrow as he wasn't sure how to cancel. After I insisted he asked me to call their 39th street location. The staff and manager at 39th were also unhelpful. Kept saying they can't help. When I insisted they put me on hold. I called ChowNow via their online messaging feature and they collected the info and it was disconnected oddly midway. Meanwhile my card was charged within minutes. Horrible. I won't ever try again. The jati roll food has gone bad and their staff is unhelpful too. The katiroll app won't even show any detials of the order you placed. So there is ko record of it. And The chow now emails don't have any option to cancel an order it either. Poor overall. Much better with Grubhub.

Arjun B.

Yelp
I've always loved the Kati rolls from the food trucks but I guess that the Kati Roll company has commercialized the experience in a sense. The place was really unique and the posters and the comics around were "legit"! The food itself was great and the prices seemed a bit on the higher end, which is to be expected, since its a "sit down" place. Overall fast quick service! We had actually popped in here before going out to a comedy show! Just a quick snack with a nice beer!

Kern C.

Yelp
Definitely the worst Kati roll I've been to. The food here isn't very fresh (been here multiple times) . The chicken tasted old and like it's been sitting on the shelf for awhile. The beef here is very dry . The lamb is the best tasting one but still on the dry side most times . The green sauce they put inside is not well balanced as well compared to the 39th and west4 locations . Hopefully they can improve but it's likely my last time here at this location . Side note : Their pistachio lassi has an ingredient called ,"pistachio flour" . Definitely a skipper at a ridiculous price of five dollars.

Saatvik R.

Yelp
What makes for an amazing 3am meal after a few drinks in the city? One Chicken Unda Roll and One Paneer Roll. Highly recommended for quick grab and go for a satisfying end to the night!

Kashif K.

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't reviewed the Kati Roll Company yet! Located a couple of blocks from my office, this is a frequent lunch spot for me, and by now, I have tried all of the different varieties of these Indian burritos. For the shell / wrap, you can choose between the layered paratha and the whole wheat roti; both options are tasty but the roti is healthier, for those who care for healthy options (this fat boy is not one of them!). Here are some of my favorite rolls: - Unda roll: seasoned fried egg layered into a flat bread roll - Chicken tikka roll: chunks of spiced chicken rolled up into a flat bread shell. You can have Unda (seasoned fried egg) added to this one for a slight upcharge; I think it gives an added dimension to the roll and makes it even tastier. - Beef tikka roll: similar to the above, but more flavorful in my opinion. The Unda option is also available for this roll, and that makes this my favorite item here. - Shrimp masala roll: pretty self explanatory after reading the descriptions above. Very tasty; one of my friends gets two of these every single time, and has not tried any of the other ones because she feels like she has found what she loves and does not need to look any further. The Unda option is NOT available for this one, much to my dismay. They don't have the Unda option listed on their menu, and they don't budge from established practice. A couple of times, when I really wanted Unda in my shrimp masala roll, I just purchased a shrimp masala roll and an Unda roll, and combined them myself! - Channa masala roll: curried chickpeas in the roll; tasty enough, but not on the top of my list of favorites just because I am more of a meat lover. - Aloo masala roll: spiced potatoes in the roll. The Unda option (layer of fried egg, as described above) is available for this one. I hadn't expected the combination of egg and potatoes to be very good; but it did turn out to be quite tasty. I realized that, after all, we do eat breakfast potatoes with our omelet, so this worked just as well. They do not have restrooms here; be aware of that in case you decide to dine in. Like most of the restaurants in East Midtown where space is scarce, the interior is very cramped. The posters of Indian movies from the 60s is a nice touch. The minimum amount for a credit card charge is $9; but since I always eat at least two rolls, this has never been a problem for me. If you buy two rolls of the same type, you get a small discount.

As the first snow of the season began to accumulate on the sidewalks of Midtown, I ran out to grab a quick bite. My colleague recommended Kati Roll and as a qualifier asked if I liked Indian food... to which I replied with an affirmative "Duh!". So in I went on a Thursday at 1:15. It wasn't empty by any means but there were a few people in line as well as waiting for orders. I hear it gets crowded but the snow could have had some affect on the turnout. ANYWAY. I ordered the Unda Shami roll and quickly made the decision to have a 2nd roll, the chicken tikka roll. I waited for less than 10 minutes and took my rolls to go. I started with the Unda Shami roll. DELICIOUS. Fragrant. Seasoned perfectly. And overall- an instant hit. I quickly learned that one kati roll is plenty for a lunch portion. I decided to try the chicken tikka roll just for the hell of it. It was good but not as good as the Unda Shami - i attribute this to the raw red onion which I am not a fan of. However, my first time experience was awesome and I cannot wait to come back to try the other wonders on the menu. I will def be back.
