The Best Street Food in Oaxaca City, Mexico | Eater

"A streetside tlayuda operation known for theatrical grilling — a team chars chorizo and tasajo and flips huge, moon‑shaped tortillas until ultra‑crispy — then layers each with a thin smear of asiento, black bean paste, lettuce or cabbage, Oaxacan cheese, and the meat of your choice; these oversized, crunchy, greasy-tender plates are especially satisfying as a late-night, post-drinking feast and stand in contrast to pricier restaurant versions." - Sarah Menkedick

The first thing I impressed was the service. Even though you don’t speak Spanish but there will be a man, he will take care of your order until you get the food. I have tried all the meats. They were absolutely incredible. I recommend to share with someone because it’s huge even for a small size

Very nice tlayudas. Definitely it gets a bit crowded. Pick a tlayuda and then the meat you want. Maybe I recommend putting it multiple meats as the tlayuda is pretty big

Great street food! As the famous Netflix show shows, the whole family is dedicated to delivering good food. They roast everything directly there. The tripe was a bit too salty, but all others were delicious. Tlayuda chica (small) was even too big for me, so I had the leftover for my next day lunch. I added 2 kinds of meats though. I’d recommend going early. I went there by 7:40pm-ish, 20 mins before opening, and got # 8 and got my food like 8:30pm. Before me there were many families. The lines grew quite quickly.

Awesome local tlayudas experience. The portions are huge. We probably could have split the small size. The chorizo, which is served on the side, is some of the best I’ve had!

Large portions, friendly service. If you haven’t tried a Tlayuda before, this is the place to start. Really hit the spot for lte night munchies. It says a lot when everyone around us was smiling and happily enjoying their meals

Not sure what happened to the old listing. They had a ton of reviews and I had contributed prior. These tlayudas are simply awesome. Locals and tourists alike line up and wait for these delicious treats. You take a number from the young man at the end and wait for your turn. On a weekday at 9 pm I waited for 40 or so minutes. They are quick and diligent but the demand is very high. The first time I went I over ordered not knowing how big a regular tlayuda was and how filling it would be. They look thin but that thinness goes a long way. Happy to report that leftovers reheat very, very well either in a toaster oven or a skillet with a little oil. Get some flame grilled proteins. The perfect accompaniment along with the delicious salsas and radish. I will never not go here when visiting Oaxaca. People that say they are similar to others in town .. well I don’t know what to tell them.

Came here due to Netflix documentary about Oaxaca food. Arrived before they opened and quickly the long line showed up. But they gave every customer a number for line. The tlayudas is delicious and special made compared with other food stands.
