Toasties - Review - New York - The Infatuation

"Crying people need food too - and that’s where Toasties comes in. The next time you plan on crawling underneath your desk and having a good cry, get a sandwich here first. We suggest the “Sloop Dan B.” It has turkey, pastrami, Monterey jack, cole slaw, and Russian dressing. And if that doesn’t do it for you, there are a bunch of other hot and cold options (and they also do salads). When you need to fill a void in your life with bread and cheese, and you just don’t care how you get it, Toasties is there for you. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Google
I love this place. I hope you love having options. There are like 45 sandwiches to choose from. Reading the menu would take up the whole afternoon. I had one of the signature hot sandwiches. It was amazing!!! Done in <15 mins. It was the one with apple butter and turkey. It seems like you can’t really go wrong though. Bagels also look good / underrated Besides a million types of sandwiches, they have burgers, salads, drinks, and more. Something for everyone even vegan

Google
My friend and I came here for pastrami on rye, and it did not disappoint. Fresh, flavoursome and filling…look at the pic to see how completely stuffed with goodness these sarnies are!

Google
Great little place for breakfast and lunch. Clean, fresh, lots of choice and inexpensive. We stayed at the Lotte New York Palace hotel and this place was just round the corner.

Google
I’ve ordered from here a few times And i can say they are consistently fresh and delicious. Also affordable in comparison to other establishments. Delivery is always early and the sandwich combinations they offer here are amazing.

Google
Sandwich tasted odd like chemicals and my stomach hurt. I called the store and a rude woman Alice talked over me and told me to bring the sandwich back. I told her I couldn’t because I am at work she said o shouldn’t have left the store with the sandwich if it was bad!! Are we supposed to taste the food before we go back to work? Never again.

Google
Sandwiches were delicious. Hot mustard made the Sue Combo. Chai latte was the best I’ve had in a while.

Google
The hero is massive, difficult to even bite into it. Big fan of the Italian, especially the pepperocinis, but the tomatoes were a little bland.

Google
Nice spot, right next to the Saint Patrick's Cathedral. Great place for breakfast or lunch after or before visiting the cathedral. Order process pretty efficient even with longer lines, waiting times are not that bad. Food is really good, there is also nice selection of cookies and sweets. The only drawback are limited seats if you'd like to dine in. Other than that definitely recommend.

Yelp
I'd heard about Chopped Cheese before we got to New York City and I wanted to get it from a bodega, but we basically ran out of time, so when we saw that Toasties was offering up their own version, I jumped at the chance to sample it. The place was pretty empty by the time we got there, so we went ahead and ordered the Chopped Cheese ("ground beef, american cheese, red onions, sliced pickles, shredded lettuce, tomato, ketchup and mayonnaise"). It's really, really good. I don't know how authentic it is, I kind of expected it to be a bit, sloppy mess, but the addition of the fresh elements really worked for me. You get the taste of that delicious, melty beef and cheese, but it's balanced really well with the tomatoes, lettuce, mayo, etc. I'm really glad we weren't able to get to a bodega, because I enjoyed the heck out of the Chopped Cheese at Toasties.

Yelp
Dear Toasties Staff (who made my juice & wrap this morning at 10:30am), I woke up this morning having a horrible day. I've been having probably two of the worst weeks of my adult life to be honest. So badly that it's been hard to even eat. But this morning I decided to order something and at least try to enjoy something... Fast forward to receiving my delivery order. One of you drew a little heart on my juice. It made me sob. There's nowhere in your job that says you have to do little things for customers that spark joy. But you did. That little heart on my juice put a smile on my face that I haven't had in weeks. I have no idea who you are, your name, background, or how long you've worked there but thank you. (By the way my juice was extremely fresh and my Tex-Mex wrap was also delish and on point) Manager On Duty, please identify them and shake their hand if you see this review. Having employees on your team that go the extra mile (I can imagine your store gets extremely busy and they deal with rude customers probably regularly) is invaluable. And because of this employee and this small detail, I will rep your brand SO hard. Toasties over everything. It's a saturated market for juice, breakfast, sandwiches and lunch isn't it? Well that 2 second little marker heart on my juice just created a customer for life.

Yelp
Great prices and good food. The service is quick even if there's a line. If you want to sit there are tables in back but most take out. We had the breakfast wraps, coffee and chai latte. We could have split the wraps. Chai latte was made fresh. Going back. Great value.

Yelp
Bland sandwich and expensive with a long wait, very crowded inside. Wouldn't return for lunch

Yelp
I got to visit Toasties during a History Club Trip and I got SO lucky this deli is , where the turkey sandwich is like a superhero in bread disguised! I bit into it expecting a regular sandwich, but nope - it was like Thanksgiving decided to throw a party in my mouth. The turkey was so tender; I'm convinced it went through a spa day before landing between the slices. It's the kind of sandwich that makes you question every other turkey you've ever met. The sandwich maker over the counter was super fast and helpful he recommend the sandwich and I am SO glad I took your referral, you've set the sandwich bar impossibly high. The deli itself was crazy busy which is great for them but the line was long and not many workers but the store was impeccably clean - which is super important for my taste buds which are still recovering from the flavor explosion! This is a 5/5, I would let this sandwich save the day again.

Yelp
In NYC for the parade and Toasties is right around the corner. Lots of cops in there grabbing breakfast so you know good local place. Have to admit was not a fan of my bagel but others in my group had different things and enjoyed. Service was quick and friendly. Would stop again for sure but maybe get a bagoneggncheese next time.

Yelp
When you walk in, there are two separate areas for you to order (salads on one side and sandwiches on the other). I ordered a Caesar sandwich in a wrap. I imagine this place could get pretty busy, but I was there around 2:30pm on a weekend and waited about 5 minutes for my food. The wrap was absolutely amazing. The dressing wasn't overpowering and it was a good mixture of coldness from the lettuce and hotness from the chicken. There are several tables in the back to sit down and eat. We had no trouble finding a spot. I'd love to come back and try other things on their menu.

Yelp
Everything is fresh here they literally make it in front of you, honestly it's the best breakfast spot in my area. I work on 52nd and 5th and I walk to Toasties all the time and I also got all my other coworkers hooked on it. They do close early and strict with their breakfast menus and lunch menus but we always get everything that we want. In the summer, they put tables out and I sit out on my lunch break when it's sunny.

Yelp
Great place for a fast breakfast. There is ample seating in the back of the restaurant. Very quick service and good menu options. I had the healthy wrap. It was delicious and a generous portion.

Yelp
Came to this spot during Sunday morning and it was fairly busy. The service is quick and the pricing is affordable. Great variety of sandwiches, wraps and bagels. Ordered a Cuban sandwich, chorizo breakfast wrap, egg white wrap, and bagel with lox cream cheese. The total was $27. The ambiance is peaceful and plenty of seating. Would highly recommend this spot.
google avatar

Jordan W.

Yelp
The quintessential Midtown deli, Toasties is a fun spot for a morning bagel or sandwich. We visited this spot for an egg sandwich and a poppy seed bagel with scallion cream cheese, and it made for a great morning treat.
google avatar

Yelp
There was a lot going on here. Took a moment to get my bearings. One side was hot foods and made to order salads, the other side of the store was assorted sandwiches/burgers and coffee/teas. There was a lot of people working efficiently. Vibe was casual. There were some seats at the back of the store. Food and drinks were decent for a quick bite on the way somewhere.
google avatar

Johnny G.

Yelp
I waited in front of the service folks for ten minutes to get my wrap. I mentioned my name numerous times and they helped others that were behind me before I was even acknowledged. Finally got my order after some time. Great wrap overall. Plenty of seats in there. I highly suggest ordering online - the lunch rush is chaotic!

Yelp
Good place. Quick. Tables to sit at. Reasonably priced. If you're looking for a salad or sandwich around the Rockefeller Center / St Patrick's Cathedral, try it!

Greg T.

Yelp
Worst deli ever !!! The New York deli is dead !! They forgot the toppings on the sandwiches, and when I went back with my plan and dry sandwich, they offered to put toppings on for $2 each Russian Dressing, lettuce and tomato. Staff does not speak English, cannot understand your order !! Sandwich has less meat than bread Deli meat is store bought, I could have made a better sandwich at home after a trip to the grocery store. Visitors beware Don't throw away your money

Yelp
This place was recommended by the hotel staff near their shop. Grabbed some salads and drinks to go. They have a number of selection and you get to choose the ingredients you want and they prep the salad right in front counter (ready cool to watch- in full view of the customers). Staff are friendly.
google avatar

Julie R.

Yelp
For quickly prepared fresh food, this place does it. Starting with breakfast sandwiches / omelettes / pancakes to salads, sandwiches and more. They have gluten free bread, which I had with egg and avocado. My husband had egg and ham on a bagel. The staff is friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot to go to if you need a quick bite to eat! The line can get long so if you decide to go for lunch, order online! They also have a few tables outside.

Zakiya P.

Yelp
dont order here, rude with attitude ! wont let you pay for your food in advanced while your waiting for it if you called for pick up ! your drink order can be sitting in your face and they will make you wait till someone from the back walks to the front where you already are to take your food to the back to pay !
google avatar

Yelp
Great food near St Patricks. Chicken sandwich was great! Service was good. Lots of seating in the back.

Ann K.

Yelp
A great choice for a quick bite! Large selection of bagels and fixings. Service was prompt.
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
Hot coffee and fresh hot food but nothing great. Locals probably know better what to order. Extra star cause it was 35 degrees outside and this place was warm with available tables to sit at. Coffee 2 stars - burnt and watered down Ham and cheese omelette 2 stars - ehh

Yelp
PROS: this place is amazing. They have a large menu selection at great prices and good quality fresh ingredients. They make the food fast and they provide you a place to sit CONS: my bread was soggy and they close at 3pm which is early OVERALL: despite the bread I think this is a great place to visit if you're in the area
google avatar

Yelp
We had the onion bagel with scallion cream cheese, pumpernickel bagel with butter, and an iced vanilla chai latte. The chai was the best I have had in a long time, the vanilla syrup was very good. The onion bagel was good, but nothing to rave about. It was our first time trying pumpernickel and we were not big fans of the flavor of the bagel. Service was quick and nice.

Yelp
Excellent normal price NYC Deli! High recommend this place for casual food. Great breakfast sandwiches and they even have lunch options. Stayed at Rockefeller Center and this is my fav breakfast spot for sure!

Yelp
Tuesday, May 24th, 2022 our last day in NYC, upon arriving to St. Patrick's Cathedral we spotted Toasties and decided to eat before anything else, it was high noon and at the peek of the lunch rush (business type people everywhere), they have 3 different sections to order and one to pay and pickup your order, seating indoors in the back and curbside seating where we sat and enjoyed our top notch sandwiches which were absolutely delicious. The weather was in the 60s, even though at the lunch rush it seems like madness, there's a process and once you figure that out it's all good. We ordered two coffees and two sandwiches, sat outside to enjoy the weather, people watch and listen to the cathedral bells. Our sandwiches were damn delicious and we will never forget them.

Yelp
An less than okay spot for a quick breakfast. Easy to find, open early, and right next to St Patrick's on E 51st and Madison Ave, it's a convenient spot. The cinnamon raisin bagel with sausage, avocado, and cream cheese (~$2.25) was okay and the medium hot coffee was no-frills. I found the workers to be rude though. The cold NYC air probably got to them.

Yelp
Years ago I frequented a toasties location in Chelsea and another one in union square. I was thrilled to find one that still existed and was even more thrilled that the menu and sandwich selection was the same as I remembered. Good hot food and a place to sit on a cold snowy day was just what my wife and I needed as we waited to go see a taping of Seth Myers.

Yelp
Toasties...always a hit. I've been coming here for lunch when at work for years now. A hole in the wall place that deserves way more hype. My go to's here are the caliente cab wrap (see picture for cheese pull) and spinach rolly. If I'm there during breakfast, I'll get the healthy wrap. Not only is the food out of this world, but it's affordable compared to most places in the area. There's always a line but it moves very quick. Try it out if you haven't already.

Yelp
It's been a long and humid day, but fortunately we found this little gem just down the road. I had the Italian. It was absolutely delicious. The bun was prepared to perfection, which is no easy task. However, the best part of our experience was the iced tea. I would go back for just the tea. Just wished there was some sort of notice that refills cost full price. $12 for two iced teas and two refills seems a bit outrageous. #DukeOfEats

Yelp
Great western omelette! Quick and easy place for a quick breakfast. Would definitely come back!
google avatar

Aleksandra J.

Yelp
Such an easy way to get breakfast and coffee, especially if you are on the go. Plenty of options and great prices, too! Plenty of seating inside and some outside as well. It was our morning stop every morning while in NY!
google avatar

J K.

Yelp
Busy, busy, busy .... hurry, hurry, hurry .... the cook were brusque and seemed perpetually in hurry. On the other hand, the cashier who took my coffee order was calm and patient, which was helpful if you are out of towner. The food was nothing special but solid breakfast fare prepared in efficient manner. Reasonable for NY prices.
google avatar

Sara L.

Yelp
Chicken Caesar wrap was inedible the chicken was stale and tasteless. Hit or miss. Also not sure why there was onion in it.
google avatar

Chris T.

Yelp
I was driving by the city and happened to stop get a quick lunch at a deli. I came upon this one "Toasties" very easy to miss and it is like a literal hole in the wall. I walked & saw they had a variety of options, it was very busy so I just decided to get something I thought would be easy & quick to make. I ordered a chicken cutlet sandwich, & as soon the person who took my order yelled out my order to make it ALL of the cooks literally moaned & groaned and said things in Spanish. Little did they know i speak spanish, there was like 7 cooks and they all got upset about it like if it takes 7 people to make ONE chicken cutlet sandwich. Teach your workers some manners. Food was Alright.

Yelp
Delicious, delivery, top notch New York food and service. Just make sure you know what you want before you get in line!
google avatar

Monnie S.

Yelp
Food was good. Staff was pleasant. We ate in and the accommodations were fine. Definitely recommend the fresh juice...I had a beet juice concoction that was excellent.

Ozzie T.

Yelp
I had an western omelette and I may have had 2 pieces of ham, a half of an onion, and a half of a bell pepper. I should have ordered a breakfast sandwich.
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
Honestly, I love this place! I come here time and time again for a good sandwich/wrap. The prices seem average but what I like most about this spot is I have never been disappointed with any sandwich I've gotten here. It is a little overwhelming because there are so many options to chose from and the gentleman taking orders seem to talk faster than you can think. But that's NYC baby! They are still super friendly I just recommend knowing wha you want before you're there. Next I want to try their hot bar, specifically the spicy pastrami sandwich. It looks delicious and I always see people ordering it. Stay tuned!
google avatar

Sam S.

Yelp
One of my common lunch restaurants when I go to work. It's fairly priced and the service is pretty fast. I'm not always in the mood for a sandwich, but when I am, this is typically my go-to place.
google avatar

Matteo G.

Yelp
Great breakfast and lunch sandwiches with great prices and fast service. I usually make my own breakfast sandwich, but I've also tried their suggestions wraps and sandwiches and they've always been delicious. Highly recommend the PZ Breakfast Wrap and the Chorizo Breakfast Wrap. See attached for photos of the goodness yummmmm
google avatar

Nick H.

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed the lovely (if spicy!) avocado on toast along with a fully loaded bagel and a stack of pancakes. Coffee is good too! Definitely worth a visit but best to work out what you fancy in advance though as the menus can be bewildering
google avatar

Anjela D.

Yelp
Got the House Combo without the corned beef and extra Russian dressing on rye. It really hit the spot, tasted great, and put me in a coma after. The people who work there are very proficient and know what they're doing. I would tick off half a star bc of the space itself. During peak lunch, the line for sandwiches is out the door and causes confusion with the salad line. I really miss the location by 52st & Lexington. They could really do with a bigger space or reorganization. Either way, great spot if you're in the mood for a sandwich. Best bet to go early to beat the crowd.
google avatar

Jonathan H.

Yelp
Girl working the register is super nasty and argumentative. If you don't like your job go sell mangos on the street or something. Food is decent however very over priced...its 5th ave I get it.

Steve T.

Yelp
I forget the name but it was a Roast Beef with toasted whole grain sandwich. Just the normal one they have for a special. Wow . It was super delicious! Served hot and fresh and there's a church a block over with a great staircase to sit and people watch while enjoying lunch. The staff were courteous a the line moved very quickly. it's a small wait for your food as it's made to order. I will be back!
google avatar

Alexandra L.

Yelp
The Quick: Hungover me LOVES this place! Quick service and high quality ingredients, makes for the perfect cheesy breakfast sandwich. The Details: They can handle crowds of hungry midtowners with a smile- you've won me over. The Damage: Bacon egg and cheese sandwich with avocado for $4.90 total... I'm in!
google avatar

George T.

Yelp
Fast and easy average taste no coffee refill on 5 dollar large cup. At least healthy and protein drink to go to satisfy average breakfast.
google avatar

Koushik K.

Yelp
Ordered this wrap on the Ritual app for $5.50 (breakfast menu). Waited around 13 minutes to get it. The wrap itself is tasty, and crunchy from the potatoes and bacon. I was initially sacred that it would be bland, but I was blown away by the spices. Overall a great wrap and super filling. Highly recommend getting their small coffee on the side!

Yelp
I went to this Toasties to get a Spicy Marvin, with the overhead Board stating 11.95 for the sandwich on a roll as the price. I went the cashier and I was charged 14.10, which comes to 12.95 instead. I checked the Board again and didn't see the extra $1 for the Spicy Marvin on a roll (some other specialty sandwiches such as Sloop Dan B do indicate the +1.00 next to it on the Board). I went back to the cashier and she insisted that the +1.00 was there on the Board without bothering to look at it once, then she pointed to a chart next to the register saying it's $12.95, giving me an attitude. I argued with her back and forth until she directed me to the manager and ignored me all together. So I spoke with the manager and she did check the Board, and agreed that I was right and it was a mistake. She was apologetic but I didn't bother to ask for an adjustment, I assume it's an honest mistake this time. The Spicy Marvin meatloaf is also bit dry.
