Best Korean Restaurants in Boston | Eater Boston

"Sizzling bibimbop, pan-fried dumplings, and stuffed, savory pancakes are all on offer at Tofu Story. But whatever you do, don’t miss the bubbling soft tofu stews. There are veggie, seafood, and meat options on deck, and each order comes with a cup of steamed rice or you can upgrade to sotbap, or pot rice with a crispy bottom layer, for $3 extra." - Erika Adams

I did not realize they close at 10PM and called them around 9PM. The ladies were so nice and took my order for dine in over the phone! The food was great. Seafood Pajeon was so crunchy on the outside and nice consistency inside with seafood. Soondubu was great as well ( we got seafood and beef one), things were not mushy and had nice distinct taste.

Google
A good Korean restaurant for tofu stew and other typical Korean dishes. Food was great. Good service. A bit pricey but acceptable. Plenty of seats. Street parking within few blocks.

It’s definitely a great place to grab some comfort food. The tofu soup are all really good and spicy, great for a cold day. The food comes with free side dishes which are also really flavorful and fresh. The spicy pork is good which you can order as a combo with the tofu soup. The fish can use a little bit more seasoning, but overall really good and flaky. Been here multiple times and will be coming back.

Google
Best Korean Tofu stew, also stone plate bibimbap is so good

Google
It's a popular place for Korean style organic tofu casserole w rice & soup broth, and colorful sides of kimchi. Very good prices, friendly services, on-street parking after 7 pm. Seafood pancake is good & freshly pan fried to order. Interior has been remodeled and comfortable seating. Recommended.

Every time we come to Flushing, we'd try a new Korean restaurant on Northern Blvd. This Tofu restaurant has more than just Tofu pot. It also has other Korean favorites like Jokbal (pig's trotters). Great service, good flavors and good price.

Google
Craving some Korean cuisine, I stumbled upon Tofu Story as one of my options. It appears that Tofu Story attracts local Koreans in the area which suggests that you can expect a genuine Korean dining experience. As I was seated, I noticed that the menu items here were a lot pricier in comparison to other establishments such as BCD (total ended up being over $70 after tips). A unique aspect to this particular restaurant is your choice of white or purple rice (a nice touch as I was not expecting that). Opting to dine in with my party, we ordered two combos: LA Galbi + Pork Soon Tofu Combination (~$32) & Spicy Stir-Fried Pork Belly + Assorted Mushroom Soon Tofu Combination (~$29). Unfortunately, the LA Galbi fell short of my expectations. However, the Spicy Stir-Fried Pork Belly was flavorful and so I ended up ordering an extra portion to-go for dinner. The side dishes provided were a lot better than the side dishes served at other establishments and featured pickled mustard greens, potato salad (unfortunately missing from the to-go order that I ordered) kimchi, snow peas, eggplants, bean sprouts and fish. Overall, Tofu Story offers a decent dining experience with some hits and misses. Although, it is unlikely that I will be returning here anytime soon as the prices were a bit too much on the higher end.

Google
Love the food here! Perfect for a cold winter day. Everything seems freshly made and it’s never too crowded here. I’ve come back a couple of times already. I love their side dishes and they’ll refill it quickly if you ask! The waitresses are all super nice and attentive. If they notice you speaking Chinese they’ll speak Chinese to you!

Yelp
I'm a big fan of this place and very surprised on the low reviews. When I come here, the place is always empty with 1-2 tables (also surprising but I'm thankful I don't have to wait). Service is very quick and friendly. I always get the LA Galbi + pork soon tofu combo. I suggest mild soon tofu soup if you cannot handle spicy. With the free banchan, white rice, this is a complete satisfying meal! I always have more than enough and take some home for the next day. For $32-$33, this is so worth it!

Yelp
Really good soup and great soup combos as well. Be sure to get it either mild or hot but don't get spicy it's too much heat and you will regret it. the banchon is really good they give a bunch for the table before the entree comes in. on a cold winter day the soup hits home and is very cozy. the service is kind and helps out with picking in the menu. they even recommended the purple rice which was delicious. i'd go here again it's 10/10 A+ worth it

Yelp
I've been coming here for years to satisfy my soondubu cravings. The service is always consistent, banchan is solid and food is delicious. I would say it is on par with a lot of the korean restaurants that specialize in tofu stew in the area in terms of quality & quantity of food and pricing. They have a pretty extensive menu with BBQ meat combos, apps and other entrees if you're in the mood for other Korean food but I've always defaulted to the classic beef tofu stew. The restaurant is clean and service is usually fast and friendly. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a solid Korean or tofu stew spot in Murray Hill.

Yelp
3 1/2 stars. I do not recall whether I have reviewed this restaurant on here or not, but I have been coming here for some time with the family. It had been a little bit since our last time. I found the pancake to be overly fried. Too crispy. Almost burnt. The amount of little dishes seem to have shrunken. Times are hard. I was very pleased with my oyster tofu. The galbi was its usual self. The bibimbap looked good, but I did not have any of it. Our servers were very pleasant and the place looked clean per usual. Will be back next time the family requires Korean food. 3 1/2 stars. I do not recall whether I have reviewed this restaurant on here or not, but I have been coming here for some time with the family. Yelp
Had an awesome lunch at tofu story, I pass this place every time I head to work, today I decided to stop in for some lunch. I ordered the combination tofu bowl, consist of beef, seafood, and tofu mild spicy. It was delicious, they also offer me optional white rice or purple rice. Today was my first time trying purple rice, I loved it, it was very tasty. The server mentioned it was healthier and many people ordered it instead of white rice. My bill came out to be $16 for the tofu bowl, all the side they gave were actually free, and If you like one side more the server would offer you seconds. They gave a total of 7 little portions of cold side dishes, I think this was an amazing deal. I had an enjoyed lunch today, they would definitely see me soon !

Yelp
I came here with a party of 4 on a holiday. I'm glad they were open when I found out BCD on Northern closed down. We ordered the standard soondubu for everyone, along with seafood pancake and grilled squid. The grilled squid I thought was a bit too spicy for our taste. We were told it would not be spicy at all. The seafood pancake was decent. The LA galbi was tender and delicious. The only complaint I have was that one of the soondobu order came out incorrect, even though our server confirmed all of our orders before taking the order into the kitchen. It wasn't a big deal but some others could be a bit off putting by it. Nevertheless; very decent quality soondubu spot! Would likely still return in the future.

Yelp
Hot tofu on a cold winter night. Can't go wrong with that comfort food. We drop into Tofu Story in Flushing. This was once called Mr Tofu, but I guess they changed owners. Ambience: clean, modern dining room, with tables that can accommodate large party of 10. Food: we ordered Galbi Tang - hot Korean short rib broth. Very heavy and rich, but oh so good. Only complaint is that it looks like they trimmed off a significant portion of the short rib meat and was mostly rib... 3/5 Beef soft tofu - comes bubbling hot. Really hits the spot! 4/5 Steamed egg - a favorite of the kids. 5/5 LA Galbi - Korean BBQ. Great flavor but portion size is noticeably smaller than other places 3/5. TL/DR: An otherwise good Korean Tofu restaurant that skimps on the portion sizes. If you are on a diet, then it's good for you, but there are other places that offer better value with the same quality.

Yelp
Went to Tofu Story with my family. Great food, esp jap chae and seafood pancakes. Excellent service and comfortable place.

Yelp
Ordered the spiciest level soup. LOVED IT. Level of spiciness would probably kill most people though

Yelp
Great spot for a comfortable meal with young kids on northern Blvd if you are craving for Korean food. Waiting staff are attentive and bring the stuff you need right away . What I love about the restaurant is the wide variety of complementary dishes. Some places only give you 3-4 different ones max . This place gives you 9 different ones and you can get refills as well! The tofu soup was very good as well. Tofu in the soup was surprising soft which I like a lot . The seafood pancake in my opinion wasn't the best I've tried as the stuff in the pancake falls out and I ve had better pancake elsewhere.

Yelp
Honestly surprised by this place! Clean and quiet inside when we arrived at 7pm. We ordered: Bulgogi Bibimbap $22.95 La Galbi + Tofu soup combo $32.95 Side dishes were okay, nothing to hit home about. The bibimbap was HUGE when it arrived! It came with such a big spoon too, I love it. Remember to ask for the spicy sauce because it's not automatically included in the stone pot! The bibimbap hit the right spot on a cold windy day! The LA Galbi was marinated super well, I loved the sauce on it! Wish it was less fatty though, some pieces were like 85% fat and no meat! Overall, I liked i! Service was also quick. Would definitely come back for the bibimbap again!

Yelp
Just your average Korean sundubu spot. Nothing really stood out about this place. The seating is nice and I liked how clean everything was. The service here is really spot on, the waitresses were really hospitable to our large group and we ordered a lot of food and it all came out very fast and hot. They also never stopping refilling the banchon and drinks. The sundubus were okay. One of our friends ordered mild but he felt like it was much spicier than mild, strange for being the lowest spice level on the menu. Our friends thought that their bibimbaps and japchae were much better than their tofu stew. To sum it up, TofuStory has quality service and decent food. What's also a perk about this place is that they have a dessert spot right next door and is accessible through a hallway.

Yelp
Still my favorite Korean tofu restaurant but the service very decent probably the business is slow so lack of staff . Overall is still authentic Korean spot

Yelp
We come here quite often. The most recent time, we came here with a party of 5 on a Sunday night. We didn't have to wait for our table even though they were fairly packed. The waitress was very nice. They were very generous and refilled our side dishes multiple times. Food was came out quick and was delicious and very filling. With all of the combos, you may choose any of the soon tofu from the list We ordered: 1) Soon tofu combo with Geundogo Gui (Grilled mackerel) - Fish was flavorful. It has a big bone in the middle but that was easy to take out. Fish was a lot bigger than I thought it would be 2) Soon tofu combo with spicy pork - yummm!! Just the right amount of spicy. The spicy pork comes on a hit plate, smaller than the regular sized. 3) Soon tofu combo with Galbi (marinated short ribs) - delicious. Also comes on a smaller sized hot plate 4) Soon tofu combo with bulgolgi - was ok, nothing too special. Also comes on a smaller sized hot plate

Yelp
Came in to eat around 9:30 since I thought the restaurant closes at 11. The staff started packing up already at 10 and closed the AC while we were still eating and asked us to pay the bill first. The service was adequate as the waitress refilled our banchans without us asking. The banchans were tasty and a wide assortment. Soondubu was flavorful and came out steaming hot. The galbi was a large portion and very flavorful. I don't recommend the steamed egg as it was very watered down and lacked flavor. I'll go back to Ziggle next time.

Yelp
3.8/5 stars! I think Tofu Story is a decent spot if you're looking for a basic selection of Korean food. They have soft tofu stew, japchae glass noodles, bibimbap, chicken ginseng soup, etc. I noticed that their staff speak both Korean and Chinese, which is a nice bonus! Pros: - Relatively cheap Korean dishes compared to Manhattan prices Cons: - The banchan is meh In summation, Tofu Story is a solid choice for quick Korean eats, but it does not match the Manhattan BCD Tofu quality. Nevertheless, it's a convenient and good spot in Queens. I hope they will improve!

Yelp
I have only tried the meat dumplings so I can't say how the dine in food is. I got the dumplings to go and they steam it to order which takes about 5 mins. You get 9 dumplings and they are pretty big for each piece. I like that they put quite a bit of filling and the skin is pretty thin. Flavor wise, it is more on the mild side if you don't use any dipping sauces. The filling is a mix of meat and veggies with some glass noodles. I like that the dipping sauce is sweet, savory and tangy. I feel like it would go really nice with a side of kimchi or pickled radish for the extra zip of flavor. The total came out to be $13 after tax which is a bit hefty in price for dumplings, but they are a pretty decent size if you have it as a meal. If you are starving then I would say it wouldn't be the most filling, but for a quick no fuss meal, I enjoyed this quite a bit. I haven't tried their tofu items, but I am curious to try it if I were to dine in. They also have these large buns that you can get to go for $3 along with the dumplings. Overall, I definitely enjoyed the dumplings.

Yelp
Came in for some late night dinner and it was 9:50pm they close at 10:30pm but they still kindly let us dine in and grab some dinner. Which made my night!!! We ordered two seafood tofu stews medium spicy and glabi and some deep fried dumpling. The stew was pretty okay. Medium was the perfect amount of spice. The galbi was really good! Overall the bill came out to 90-100 something after tip which is expected. But given the quality and service and my experience I say it was worth it.

Yelp
Good food.. tastes similar to bcd tofu house which closed on northern ... clean place and tentative service

Thomas M.

Yelp
Not good. I ordered the combo meal, Tofu soup with seafood and the pork bulgogi. The Tofu soup had very little seafood and bland. The pork bulgogi was even worst. The meat was extremely dried and not tasty. I also ordered the seafood pancake. Very little seafood and doughy. Garbage... I decided to try this place but this restaurant is definitely one and done for me. There is a far superior Tofu restaurant a few blocks away in the Hmart Plaza at 156th St and Northern Blvd. Food and ambience much better.

Yelp
My favorite Korean restaurant is back! Their original name is mr tofu, as you may know, they have been in the neighborhood for so so so long. Their small dishes are enormous, since they are so generous to give you so many! The service is as decent as usual. The food is as delicious as always. Something new is that, they now sell coffee too! The coffee is so tasty and made of oak milk. Try! Ok

Yelp
Was in the flushing area and decided to treat myself to some soon du bu jigae ( spicy soft tofu stew). There are soooo many side dishes (ban chan). All very good and tasty. Then they bring out the steam hot bowl of goodness with a side of bap (rice). They cracked the egg for my in the stew and the egg just cooked on its own in that hot goodness (LOL) The staff here was very friendly to my friend and myself. They keep refilling the tea which was nice because it was a chilly day. I came to this spot around 6 oclock on a Friday evening. When we walked in there were people there already, but not alot. We were able to get a seat right away.

Yelp
I love to eat spicy tofu soup here all the time. Side dishes are very tasty I love to eat spicy tofu soup here all the time. Side dishes are very tasty

Yelp
This place has decayed in terms of food and service. I an having lunch on a Tuesday at 1 pm and i cannot get service in a restaurant where there are only 3 tables out of the entire place. We order the seafood tofu soup, bland at best, it had 1 shrimp and 1 clam and some thinly sliced zucchini. The egg was like extra small. I can understand food cost is up and at $12.95 you dont get much. Yeah the place looks clean, but the lack of service and the lack of food in my bowl will not get me to come back. Will have to look for another place, what a shame. I been coming here for a long time.

Yelp
Always been my go to place for Korean tofu. I been coming since it was called Mr. Tofu. I think the food is very good and consistent from the times I have come. They use to open till much later but still a good time. I feel the tofu soups are very good. I always get the extra . They make a very good Japchae. I just about alway also get the Kalbi and bulgogi. They make this very good I feel. The spicy pork belly is yummy as well. This place also offers a good amount of the free dishes which is very nice even though I only eat the tofu one. However friends and family always seems to enjoy. Other then the service this place is very good. Service can be spotty only due to the fact they seem to always be short staffed. If you come when slow service is pretty good. Prices are on par with most Korean restaurants. However place is nice and spacious with larger tables which I like because I tend to like to order a lot of things to eat.
google avatar

Yelp
Back again! This is probably my favorite korean food spot on Northern Blvd. Their naengmyun is icy and very satisfying. Their combos are still at a great price! We got two mul naengmyun one with spicy pork combo and one regular. If you ask, they can swap the meat combos wirh another in the soon tofu section! At least thats what the manager told us! The spicy fatty pork and the cold vingeary noodles really balanced each other out! Will definitely be back, especially since the weather is going up. Service is 5/5 and food is 5/5! If youre in the area I would recommend coming here!
google avatar

Elaine X.

Yelp
This is by far the worst tofu restaurant I ever been to. Their tofu base is made with shinramyun packets. I eat so much shinramyun at home, I recognize that base anywhere. $16 for tofu made with instant noodle packets, unbelievable. Their side dishes are disgustingly made and not traditional korean at all. I ordered purple rice and it was also very mushy and not fresh. Im not sure why this place is still in business. The coke I ordered was the best thing on the menu. Go someplace else, this place is a waste of money.

Nicole S.

Yelp
My husband and I enjoyed the Seafood combination Tofu soup which came with the banchan "side dishes" It was very delicious. Service, was excellent, and the staff very courteous!!

Yelp
This spot has a lot of options for Korean foods. Also everything at a decent price. There's a lot specials and good service. Also the stews were delicious. Would definitely come back again

Yelp
This place is amazing!!!! Ordered the spicy raw crab and raw fish as appetizers. I thought the crab would be really weird but ended up as my favorite! It's very fresh and nice seasoned with the hot sauce. Basically has the same texture as sweet shrimp. The fish was ok, not as special as the crab. The seafood pancake was huge and full of seafood. You could get a mouthful of different seafood from every single bite. The bulgogi is very nice. Juicy, tender, nicely seasoned with a sweet sauce! And at last, the price is reasonable, and I'll definitely come back here to visit again!

Yelp
This restaurant has great tofu (soondubu) soup in New York City. Will recommend anyone craving good Korean cuisine.
google avatar

Juju W.

Yelp
Amazing side dishes, count 'em...12! And u can ask for refills! The seafood noodle stew was delish. Regular was spicy, can't imagine what the spicy version would be. Bibimbap was on par, crispy rice. My seafood dish had a qtr huge crab along w. Baby octopus, shrimp, mussels, clams, squid, noodles. For $14! Yummo! We also had a beef stew which was ok. All this for $19 pp among 3 of us. Parking was super tough tho.... The waitress mixed the bibimbap before i could take pics, but it was a work of food art.
google avatar

Victoria T.

Yelp
A great spot for the hearty traditional Korean meal soondubu, soft tofu stew. They have a variety of different mix-ins for their stews, such as kimchi, mushroom, seafood - and customizable heat levels for the softer stomachs. Be ready for an onslaught of Korean small dishes, the classic banchan. Even for us two, the table was teeming with side dishes of all kinds. If you're not familiar with banchan, they'll provide you with a unique collection of small plates to remember. I definitely prefer this place for takeout though rather than dine-in - the atmosphere isn't quite as cozy as one of its top rivals, BCD Tofu House not far down the road in Bayside. Parking is fairly minimal, so it's easier to have someone idle the engine while you pop in and pick up your order. Still, nothing hits the spot like that hot tofu stew on a chilly day (or, let's be real, any time of year!)
google avatar

Nancy Y.

Yelp
I am in love with this place! Like many others, I was disappointed when Book Chang Dong closed down. But when I heard my friends had such a great experience at Mr. Tofu, I had to try it. The set-up of the original BCD is pretty much kept but they've liven it up with better décor and lighting. I can not get enough of the Galbi-tang and frequently crave it from here specifically. The soup is light and never too salty and definitely always hits the spot. I love that they put enoki mushrooms and white carrots in there, making the soup even more flavorful. I'm a soup fanatic and am pretty picky but I fell in love here! I also usually get the seafood pancake which is pretty good. The Combination Soon Tofu is packed with flavor and the tofu is so smooth. The restaurant is extremely clean and the servers are very pleasant to deal with. My friend was here for the first time with me and was not familiar with the menu but the server was extremely polite and answered her questions. I've ordered takeout a couple of time when I didn't have the time to dine in and loved that they used the machine to seal the containers to prevent leaking. But as far as I know, they've stopping doing that.
google avatar

Raymond S.

Yelp
This spot is decent. I wanted to give a 3.5 star but there's no option for that. Steamed egg was burnt so we didn't end up eating it. Jap chae was really good. So was the side dishes. We got a galbi combo with beef soondobu. The galbi was alittle tough but flavor was good. Soondobu was really good. Would come back!
google avatar

Chelsia T.

Yelp
Been there couple times and got take out recently. We usually got soon tofu as it is the best in this place. The tofu is soft and blend really well with the broth. I usually order mild spicy and I cannot take spicy food. Mild spicy is just right for taste and give a kick for the dish. Love it! Not to mention, this place give out many banchan (little pre-meal dishes) and most of them are yummy!!
google avatar

Eddie L.

Yelp
In the past their redeeming factor was the huge amount of different side dishes compared to other Korean restaurants on northern boulevard. Now they basically put five side dishes in two tiny containers. Trust me even if I took then out and separated them the quantity and quality is a little below average in the area. Onto the tofu soup. Soup itself is bland and watery while the beef is tough to chew.
google avatar

Gina D.

Yelp
We recently went back and there was definitely a change in management. Previously there were young Korean waiters/waitresses and management. This recent trip none of the waitresses spoke Korean which was inconvenient for my mother who had questions about new menu items so I had to translate. The one and only person in the entire restaurant who could speak Korean in a Korean restaurant was one of the kitchen ladies. The sides were not as fresh and there wasn't as many as we previously had. My mom ordered spicy pork over rice on a sizzling platter. There were three small pieces of pork with a mound of white rice and some vegetables. When my mom said something they brought out more meat within a minute meaning their meat is precooked. It looked like it was sitting in a warmer due to the discoloration. I ordered the gamja tang which is a stew of pork bones, vegetables, and potatoes. Very bland but the portion was huge. I don't think we will be going back.
google avatar

Kar Chuan T.

Yelp
This place has definitely changed their management and menu. Price went up and the food was meh. The spicy beef soup I had today was bland. Nothing special that I can describe. Banchan was good, personally like the tiny shrimp and fish cake. I had been to this place several times and their services were always good (they will automatically refill the empty plates of Banchan, tea, water, provide more napkins) Well, now they need to be asked to do so. Today experience was merely two stars and It is not that Mr. Tofu anymore. You have lost me, Mr Tofu.

Yelp
I don't come here as often as I used to when I was younger. My family would come here whenever we wanted to eat soondubu and this place was one of our favorites in the area. I still remember back then it was open 24 hours and they had this one potato side dish that was so so good. I believe it's gamja jorim, potato braised in soy sauce. I remember our entire family loving this side dish so much for some reason! I don't come back as often since they've revamped years ago, but my grandma, dad and I stopped by on my dad's day off. It's cheaper than my usual soondubu spots (BCD). One thing that's great about this place is the cutest banchan set up they have once you order. They have a "feast" of small dishes of banchan that decorate the table. It's nice to try a little bit of everything and they do seem to change things once in a while. We got the Combination Soondubu, Oyster Soondubu, Seafood Pancake, and LA Galbi. The seafood pancake came out quickly and nice to see that the seafood seemed pretty fresh. The pancake wasn't solely flour and had a good mix of seafood and scallion. I can't even recall how many times how some places skimp out and will give you a legit pancake with flour and a couple pieces of baby shrimp. The soondubu was standard, everything was good so nothing bad to say. I did find it interesting how they actually topped their soondubu with seaweed (the ones you can get by in those small packs at the supermarket). I was a little thrown off at first, but it's fine since I just wasn't used to seeing it. The oyster soondubu is what my dad always gets when we do go and it's good and works well with the soondubu. The galbi was a bit lacking and it's my first time seeing just raw veggies sitting on the bottom below the meat instead of cooked onions. Not bad, but definitely a change from the norm. I actually liked this better since I got to munch on some fresh vegetables. The galbi itself was a little burnt that my dad did slightly complain about because it turned the meat a little bitter. It's definitely not as good as it used to be. The place is not the same as it was when I was younger and it isn't my go-to soondubu place anymore, but it's still nice to revisit! I might actually start coming back now that I've remembered it. The service was really friendly too, so I guess we'll see when I'll be back!

Yelp
This place is about a block away from my parents', so we come by here every so often for dinner. This place specializes in soondubu/soft tofu stews, though they have other things, like bbq and bibimbap dishes. I always get their kimchi soondubu jigae without the pork, while my parents tend to mix it up a bit more. The food has always come out quickly enough, and it tastes pretty good, though admittedly, maybe not quite as good as BCD Tofu does. Rice also comes out to you in a hot stone bowl, so you do get nurungji towards the end of your meal. The banchans are all pretty decent here as well, and portion sizes are pretty decent. Prices are also decent, and I feel like you get your money's worth here.

Abbey R.

Yelp
It's definitely the comfort food to go in a chilly evening! Appetizers are great. The tofu broth is beyond my expectation.
google avatar

Huan C.

Yelp
Came here for dinner. Ordered a various of food items on the menu. I wasn't quite in the mood for Tofu so I try one of their other items. We even tried the spicy chicken leg and a chicken dish. The food was pretty okay, but I wasn't quite feeling it. I would say that the chicken was the best thing that we ordered. It was very earthy. The chicken was very tender as it fell off the bone when you pick it up. Maybe next time I will try the tofu.

Ban Chan galore!! This Korean restaurant is located right on Northern Blvd, not far from H-Mart specializing in soondubu : tofu soup. One of my favorite things about this place is their large variety of banchans!! I've always ordered their mixed seafood and beef tofu soup which has never disappoint. Service here is great as well!

Yelp
4.5 stars I was on the Q28 bus on my way to my best friends house for NYE and I saw this place during my bus ride. I was like ... oh... a Korean tofu soup restaurant??? I knew that I wanted to check this place out when I saw the name of the restaurant. Catchy name - caught my attention. So guess what...my best friend said that she came here a few days before with her hubby. Both of them took me here for dinner on New Years Day. I got the seafood tofu soup [medium spicy] and it's probably the best tofu soup that I have had. The broth is slightly richer than BCD Tofu House. But, I thought that there was more seafood in BCD's tofu soup tho. We also ordered the Jap Chae [appetizer size] and it was not bad however it seemed a bit watery. The staff serviced us a bunch of different side dishes as well. It's worth checking this place out and trying the tofu soup.

Yelp
They are no longer 24 hours. (Changed management?) Now closing at midnight. Got there tonight around 11:15PM and the waiter said they are closed. The business hour posted on their door states closing 12 midnight. Maybe they should change their business hours to something like "10:30AM to 11PM" instead.

Yelp
I've been vegan for over 15 years and my parents wanted to pick me up some tofu soup. They asked the server/manager if it's all vegetables, they said without meat and they use kelp broth. When they brought it home and I smelled it, it smelled weird. When I took a sip, it tasted fishy. We called and asked if it had any beef, chicken, fish, anchovy, shrimp. They finally said the kelp broth is mostly kelp with a little bit of anchovy. That is NOT all vegetable. Luckily I don't have allergies but you guys should be more careful. This could be dangerous for others that have an serious allergy that could lead to hospitalization and even death.

Yelp
What happened to this place?! It use to be BCD. My go to place for spicy, hot, soft tofu after a late night of drinking always hit the spot and prevented hangovers. I was hoping they just changed their name and the food remained the same, but EVERYTHING is different and not for the better unfortunately. The decor got a cute upgrade, but the food did NOT. It looks like it was taken over by Chinese owners and the food and service reflects that. The banchan was decent and they weren't skimpy when we asked for seconds of some dishes. Their signature soodubu was just lacking and did not have that traditional Korean taste. It tasted more...Chinese(I'm Chinese). The portions were smaller too. I finished my whole bowl when I use to only be able to eat 3/4 of it. One of my favorite things I always look forward to when eating at a Korean restaurant is the crispy rice soup you get at the end of your meal, but even that was botched. They use individual stone pots for the rice here, but the rice is only placed in the pots and not cooked in them, leaving the bottom uncrispy...boo. They also poured the tea in at the beginning of our meal, leaving whatever rice that managed to crisp soggy and mushy. We also tried the beef short ribs, which came out almost 20 mins after the first dishes. We were practically done eating by that time. In fact, all our dishes came out at different times even though 3/4 of us ordered soondubu. This was awkward and left some of us just sitting there watching the others eat. The beef short rib dish was wayyy too sweet and did not have any Korean flavors whatsoever. Prices have also increased to practically city prices! I miss the old BCD. There are def better options for soondubu in the area.
