[Summary]
Tofu Village KBBQ is a casual, quiet restaurant in Marietta that serves nothing but authentic Korean dishes. Its quietness and somewhat dark, yet warm setting makes it a great romantic eating-out experience. It is far from busy, even on weekends, and it is this very quality that allows Tofu Village to offer remarkable service to the guests that do come. It is a great place to eat true Korean food for the locals that do not want to drive an hour to Duluth.
They don't serve AYCE KBBQ but rather platters. From the pictures though, the proportions are ample and the cuts of meat they serve here is high quality.
[Location]
It sits across by Wellstar Atlanta Heart Associates, in the same corner where Queen Bee Tattoo Parlor is situated. The parking spots are ample and you should not have any trouble here.
[Atmosphere]
Very casual and cutesy. The setting is dim, with the only sources of light are hanging above the tables. Its a relaxing and cozy mood, and the temperature's just right. You can solely focus on the food, the people you've brought, and the experience you'll share here.
[Service]
If you read the summary, the service here is very good! The ladies that work here are very sweet and attentive. They frequently visit my table, which is good because I keep destroying the banchan! They teach me Hangul too, and are very nice to talk to!
[Food]
Mixed Soft Tofu Soup (seokk-eo sundubu jiggae): A hot soup with soft tofu, beef, clam, mushroom, and green onion garnish. The soup can be non-spicy, mild, medium, hot. It is served with a bowl of rice and side dishes (banchan).
I usually get it the hottest available and eat it with all the banchan. It was so good I got it again on my second visit, and the banchan complements it so well. I was first introduced to this soup at Jang Su Jang, and they know how make a mean soon du bu. Although I still prefer JSJ more, this place is pretty dang good. I'll definitely be here more often, and it's not just because I like to save gas lol.
SIDE DISHES (banchan)
*Side dishes are free, and you are welcome to ask for more!
Braised Potatoes (gamja jorim): Chunks of potatoes braised in soy sauce and other ingredients. A somewhat sweet and salty banchan that's good to eat when your food gets too spicy LOL. Very delicious! It's one of my favorite sides.
Fermented Cabbages (kimchi): Fermented cabbages with seasoning, a staple in Korean food! It has a bit of tang, but it's definitely not close to spicy. I never really liked kimchi, but this I definitely eat!
Spicy Cucumber Salad (oi-muchim): Sliced cucumbers that is sweet, spicy, and sour. This is also one of my favorite sides here. It is a great blend of tastes, and the cucumbers have a slight crunch to it! Tofu Village really know what it's doing.
Eggplants (gaji): I forgot if it's stir fried or steamed, but it's good enough. I don't eat Korean style eggplants too often, but I don't mind it either!
Broccoli Salad: Chunks of broccoli that has a slight crunch and a drizzle of sauce (gochujang?) on it. Fun to crunch on.
Soy Bean Sprouts (kongnamul): Also fun to crunch on! Not sure how to describe it, but it's good!

Tofu Village is pretty awesome. They might pale in comparison against other restaurants in Duluth, but they offer something special that makes me keep wanting to come back.
