Japan’s Most Popular Curry Spot, Go Go Curry, Has Opened in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"Arriving as a stall inside Tokyo Central Market in Gardena (taking over the former Croissants du Tokyo bakery), this outpost of Japan’s most popular curry chain opened on June 26 and marks the chain’s first expansion into Southern California after establishing outlets in New York City, New Jersey, Cambridge, Dallas, and Hawaii; it could help fill the void left when Curry House closed all of its restaurants in 2020. It serves fried pork and chicken cutlet laced with dark brown Kanazawa-style curry that allegedly takes 55 steps, five hours of stewing, and 55 hours of "maturing" to create; the marketing jargon leans on the number five (go-go means the number 55 in Japanese). The result is a thick, rich sauce that sits under the fried cutlets or comes spooned over a mound of white rice. The dish comes with a choice of tasty Japanese sausages or fried shrimp, or altogether as the "home run" curry that combines sausage, hard-boiled egg, a piece of fried shrimp, and either pork or chicken cutlet. A larger "grand slam" has twice the home run portion with 16 ounces of rice, and a huge shareable "world champion" serving, equal to five servings (that costs $55.55, of course), comes with a truly ridiculous amount of food, probably enough for a family. All dishes come with shredded cabbage to balance out the dense curry and fried foods. The stall is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily." - Matthew Kang

“A Little Bit of Japan… and a Dash of Don Quijote Chaos” If Don Quijote and Mitsuwa had a slightly chaotic but charming love child, it would be this place. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted by flying paper lanterns, a rainbow of mochi, and enough Peko-chan to launch a kawaii coup. The onigiri and bento bar? Dangerous. The hot food section? Irresistible. The Japanese bakery and mochi aisle? Let’s just say I nearly wept at the sight of milk bread and daifuku cuddled up together like carbs and destiny. And don’t even get me started on the snack aisles — there’s a chocolate section, a biscuit section, and something that looked like Halloween but cute. Basically, if it’s adorable and edible, it lives here. Cosmetics? Skincare? Yes, they have an entire glowy aisle for that too. Sheet masks for days. You can grab a rice ball, a lash serum, and a 12-pack of cookies in the same breath. 📍 Bonus: Waka Sakura Sushi is attached if you’re ready to eat before you shop. (Which, let’s be honest, is the smarter move.) 🛒 Verdict: It’s like grocery shopping in Tokyo without the jet lag — with just enough chaos to make it interesting. I came for one thing and left with seven. Classic.

I stopped by Tokyo Central for food after attending Obon at the nearby Gardena Buddhist Temple, and it didn't disappoint. There were plenty of cooked food and sushi options--plus, everything is 20% off after 7 PM! I picked up the curry wagyu beef with rice, heated it up in the microwave outside, and it tasted great. There were just enough small pieces of beef, and the curry sauce was flavorful and generous enough to finish all the rice. The next day, I picked up a jumbo chikuwa nori combo for dinner and a spaghetti Bolognese for the following day. Both were solid choices, with just the right portion sizes for a satisfying meal. Inside, the store has a large selection of Japanese groceries and tons of my favorite Japanese snacks. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

Google
I was impressive, and there were a lot of Japanese brands. This is the closest to get to Japan in Los Angeles. Delicious Japanese food, snacks, and statioanries. Parking can be hard to find a spot. Most likely, I went on one of their busy days I'm glad that nowadays we can find international products around LA. I definitely recommend it for those who like Japanese products and groceries

I was in the area between Christmas and New Year's, so I thought I'd drop by Tokyo Central since I haven't been there in a couple of years. The parking lot and entrance are pretty much the same. However, as I walked through the store the atmosphere seemed very festive. Children and adults alike were laughing and picking out their favorite treats. I saw a toddler pushing around a little toddler shopping cart determined to get their shopping done. I think they brought along a larger human just to reach the higher shelves for them. They were a very cute duo. Tokyo Central has always had a well maintained and organized Produce and Fresh Foods Section that is quite extensive. The store in whole is clean and orderly, with workers busily restocking the shelves. This store has always had a nice selection of ready to go foods, such as Sushi, Bentos, and Bowls. Since my last visit they have tremendously increased their universe of Serve-Yourself food-to-go. They have a nice selection of sandwiches and salads. But, the most impressive is the Hot-Food Stations. There is a real live human actually frying up Japanese goodies right before your eyes, and others are actively working to keep the Hot-Food Stations stocked. Yet, the most significant aspect was that people were excited about the food, and the whole area seemed to glow with excitement. I think they nailed the grocery Serve-Yourself food-to-go concept. At checkout the women working were fast and efficient. Even the security guard at the exit had a smile on his face and had a positive attitude. It was a very pleasant outing at Tokyo Central.

Google
Two floor store, they have a wide range of Japanese goods at a reasonable price. Don't forget to try their kaiten sushi, it tastes like those back in Japan.

Yelp
This place is an institution. It's considered the largest Japanese Market in the Metro Los Angeles area. My family and I have been coming here for years and unfortunately, I had not had the chance to review it. You can easily spend two hours in here, between looking at the premade food, eating in one of the restaurants in here or shopping for groceries . the parking lot can be super full at any time, and BEWARE because people dont look both ways walking , backing up or driving here. Park as far away as you can from the entrance to avoid any situation because people really cannot drive safely and I can't even stress this enough here. There are three or four parts to this market . There is a sushi restaurant upstairs. There is a food court downstairs. there is a prepared food section. There is the rest of the market. The items here are mostly all Japanese items imported, or made locally . The produce here is always super fresh and our items you will not find from any other market. The price is a little more expensive but you do get quality. This was unfortunately, my very first time at the hot food bar and I don't know what I was missing my whole life . I spent a good 30 minutes here trying to figure out what to get.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years and I've never lived close to it. Just a really great store with great variety. I come here with no expectations, but I always come out with a full bag. I mostly only buy food and alcohol here, as that's really the main feature. But they have more. Anime/gaming merchandise, seasonal things, households, almost all Japanese imports. Some are domestic or from other countries but the collection of items are great. What I always look at is the wall of chilled drinks; sodas, teas, other drinks. Then the alcohol wall, but I always end up getting Orion because it's readily available here. After that I check out the kimchi section, the canned fish, and rice or pasta seasonings. I've shopped for produce here on occasion for the stuff you can't always find elsewhere and the quality is very good. There's practically nothing negative to say here really. Some of the prices maybe are considered steep but it's more about the variety that they have here you don't always see elsewhere.

Yelp
Great place to shop for all Japanese. They have packed and ready to eat food and hot food stand. The sushi restaurant is upstairs. Ample parking.

Yelp
As someone who shops at Marukai in Honolulu, I was pleasantly surprised when I visited Tokyo Central in Gardena, CA. This stores offer a similar experience with a fantastic selection of Japanese groceries, snacks, and household items that remind me of the Marukai I know and love. If you're familiar with Marukai, you'll feel right at home in Tokyo Central, but with the added benefit of a much LARGER space and an even wider range of products to explore. Happy shopping!

Yelp
Tokyo Central in Gardena is an expansive Japanese supermarket with plenty of parking, conveniently located across from the Albertsons plaza. It offers a comprehensive shopping experience with a delightful blend of food, dining, and merchandise. The bustling environment and festive Christmas decorations make it a lively and inviting place to visit. The food court is a standout feature, boasting a variety of options such as takoyaki, karaage, and tonkatsu, with ample seating available both indoors and outdoors. One of the restaurants, Waka Sakura, offers more dining choices upstairs, adding to the diverse culinary offerings. The supermarket's non-food section is reminiscent of Japan's Don Quijote, filled with cosmetics, clothing, and themed merchandise that exudes Japanese culture and charm. The service here is also very friendly. The produce section is visually stunning, with displays enhanced by fake greenery foliage. The seafood section offers a wide array of fresh fish, while the alcohol section includes an impressive selection of Japanese beverages at affordable prices. The prepared food section is another highlight, featuring bento meal sets and rice bowls. I picked up onigiris for $1.99 each - they were only decent. Overall, Tokyo Central provides a comprehensive and enjoyable shopping experience. Whether you're looking for fresh groceries, authentic Japanese cuisine, or unique merchandise, this supermarket has something for everyone.

Yelp
WOW what an amazing store.....Youll get all the Asian groceries you need plus a huge emphasis on Japanese items. There's also a huge section of miscellaneous things so enjoy this mini Don Quixote! If you're here and you're in the mood for some sushi hop on upstairs to Waka Sakura which is amazing.

Yelp
Get ready for a culinary adventure here! Tokyo Central is a huge Japanese market and just when you think you've seen everything there is to see, you'll turn a corner and realize there is WAY more to see. The sushi selection is huge and tasty. There's lots of hot food to choose from. The dessert selection is pretty large, too. And if you don't feel like any of those, there's a whole food court you can enjoy. I've had their Japanese curry and it was very delicious and comforting Not hungry? No problem. There's a whole kitchen section with useful items and tools for your own cooking, plus a toy and pet section. For my fellow cat owners: There's a section just for Churu treats and a huge variety of them. I've never seen so many in one location. So if your cat is as obsessed with these treats as mine is, you need to come here! There is a parking lot, but it tends to fill up - one time I went and I couldn't get parking because everyone knows how awesome this place is! Best to go during the week or during non-peak times.

Yelp
Several options for Japanese beer fans! Probably the largest display of Japanese beer in the USA with friendly prices.

Yelp
This is the biggest location I've been too. It was like sensory overload. They had so many selections of food, housewares, and beauty. I was hoping they had the hair mask I use, but it was sold out. My family bought 12 round shaped fruits for the new year. Everyone was friendly. The store was packed. We couldn't move around much unless we excused ourselves to walk around them. My old coworker recommended this location because of the variety of food. It seemed like everyone was here to shop for the new year!

Yelp
Everyone knows that Japanese food is one of the best standards for a Blue Zone landscape because "you are what you eat!" Parts of California is considered blue zone and these can be attributed to food and lifestyle, too. But NOT all stores showcases fine and select Japanese seafood like the Toyota Centrals (2 in this Artesia and Gardena areas). Here, aside from an array of seafood and groceries, they also offer the freshest cut sashimi and sushi in small palatable packages in very affordable prices. There seems to be sold in two competing displays from the front and the back part of the grocery store. One huge part of their collection of nicely cut beef, chicken and pork meats, cleaned and sliced to your own delights. What's imposing is a nicely displayed and select Japanese and American wagyu steaks and cuts, that'll make you buy your favorite meats, ready to be cooked and served during those Lakers Basketball games. There's more, inside the store are a line of freshly cooked Japanese dishes that you don't usually see in Southern California Japanese stores, deliciously prepared a la carte hot foods ready to be enjoyed. If you prefer more restaurant like landscape, they have a sushi restaurant on the second floor or better yet, several smaller restaurants in the southern corner of the stores specializing on Japanese snacks, karate or chicken, and many other hot and newly cooked foods. Come to Tokyo Central and you'll never eat anywhere Japanese anywhere, anymore. What more can you ask? Itadakimas! Let's eat!

Yelp
My favorite Japanese market! Not only do they have the items I need to make delicious meals they have house goods and cutey items perfect for gift giving. Prices are comparable if not cheaper since there are many sale items that rotate weekly. They have a large selection of ready made food and the to go boxes of sushi is unbelievably fresh. I always pick up a few to eat, one for there in their convenient food court table area by the front of the store and then a couple to take home for later. Large selection of Hawaiian drinks and snacks so you don't have to come back from Hawaii to get some chocolate covered macadamia nuts. The widest range of Spam flavors I've ever seen in my life. Seriously popular spot now since it's gone viral for their sushi restaurant upstairs.

Yelp
Tokyo Central is the largest Japanese market in California. This huge, well-stocked superstore carries all types of grocery, household and personal goods items. From fresh daikon radish to aokyurizuke, along with a multititde of unique and hard-to-find sauces and spices, to dinnerware made in Japan. They are the leader in carrying Japanese products. If you can't find it here, you might need an airline ticket. Tokyo Central also offers a multitude of 'ready to consume' foods, from hot buffet items made fresh daily to a huge selection of fresh combinations of sushi, which is prepared on-site.
google avatar

Ken C.

Yelp
This Tokyo Central location is probably my favorite grocery store. It's huge and it is filled to the roof with hidden gems from Japan. While you may not be able to get great value with veggies, there's so much you can find here including: Freshly made bento boxes that are displayed at 10am every morning Cute anime, socks, and Japanese accessories/electronics Cookies, chips, candies, and sweets that are imported directly from Japan Coffees and snacks that are imported directly from Hawaii Amazing restaurants including Waka Sakura, Kagura, a bakery, and a takoyaki store. Rare Japanese drinks (Suntory whiskeys, pocari sweat, sakes, coca cola plus) Sushi and high quality hot pot ingredients DIY Ichiban ramen kits! Your favorite items that you were craving from the conbini from your recent trip to Japan. I can walk around this store for hours. If you just came from Japan or if you dream of one day going to Japan, then I recommend that you peruse this store to get a taste of the country! This is one of the largest Japanese groceries in the area and I highly recommend it. Easy 5 stars.

Yelp
Decided to come here on a friend's advice. I was hunting for some dashi. I was not disappointed. Many to select from. The Gardena store is the biggest of the chain. Arrived just before lunch, so we decided to try out the food. Selected two types of chicken karaage, tofu, okonomayaki, fried sweet potato, and a spicy salmon hand roll. The marinated karaage was very flavorful, as opposed to the traditional one, which didn't have much flavor. Tofu was good. The salmon roll was very good. The store had a variety of specialty sakes. I purchased a few bottles. Bought a selection of dashi, ponzu, and kewpie mayo. I definitely would go back for lunch and to purchase specialty japanese food items. Excellent find.

Yelp
Wow!!! Just wow!!! Glad I got to experience this market. This Tokyo Central Japanese Market is huge!!! So many variety of beauty products, household items, food, vegetables, fruits, bakery items, fresh sushi and food to go. Aisles and aisles of everything you can imagine! I was a bit overwhelmed but enjoyed the stroll inside. They have a few restaurants and dining area inside too! I highly recommend swinging by and explore this market. You might find what you're looking for. There's plenty of parking, they have two sizes of shopping carts. One kiddie size and one regular size, kiddie size shopping cart is soooo cute. The guards there are friendly. Staff is helpful and friendly. Clean market. Fast check out service. This market was very well thought out. I can't wait to return.
google avatar

Yelp
This market is HUUUUUGE!!!!!!! I was not able to look at everything from wall to wall, gotta save some for next time!!!! Had an AMAZING time!!!! Got some candy and beauty items, a few groceries as well. The service was great, the place is extremely organized with a huge selection of items, well stock, clean, and charming. Parking was a tiny bit hard to get at first, the place was very busy. Recommended
google avatar

Bryan C.

Yelp
A great selection of Japanese ready-made foods and imported grocery items. This market has a much wider selection of items than one can imagine, and stepping foot in this store was quite overwhelming at first! The snack section is my favorite section and has items that I only saw in my travels to Japan. A must visit if a fan of Japanese goods/culture!
google avatar

Michelle K.

Yelp
This Tokyo Central market is the largest one I've been too and has everything! Groceries, household items, small food court, skin/body care, toys, etc. I'm always able to find the things that I need here and the prices are reasonable. They recently did a revamp of the market and now the ready-to-eat food section has slightly expanded and there's a new rotating sushi bar restaurant in the upper level. This location has it's own parking lot with lots of spaces, but it can get crowded during peak lunch time and on the weekends.
google avatar

Justin L.

Yelp
It's like Costco, but for Japanese products! Food court? Check. Free samples? Check. Terrible parking? Check. Lots of items you want but don't need? Check. Long checkout lines? Double check. Now if only they would sell in bulk! I've been shopping here for over two decades now. My parents still have their Marukai membership cards, back when you had to pay a fee to shop here (just like Costco hmm). We often go for shabu shabu ingredients, bento boxes, instant ramen packs, fresh sushi, frozen foods, pastries, snacks, and other pantry staples. Selection is great and prices are mostly reasonable. They have made several improvements, I like the wider aisles and the addition of self checkout stations. It's less cluttered overall and items are more neatly organized. Not the best food court around, but it has a more polished look to it after the remodel. The new conveyor belt sushi restaurant on the second floor is worth visiting, separate review to follow. Tokyo Central is located along Artesia Boulevard, across from In-N-Out. You can enter using the driveway next to Wendy's if you're on Western. The crowds and parking challenges make grocery trips here a little more complicated than your average supermarket run. But I don't mind too much, I can spend hours wandering the aisles here! Useless fun fact: everyone knows that Tokyo Central shares the same parent company as Don Quijote. You'll see their penguin mascot on signs and labels. But not everyone knows that luxury grocer Gelson's is also under the same umbrella!
google avatar

Evan K.

Yelp
Get transported to Japan instantly when shopping at Tokyo Central for all your Japanese necessities and goods! I don't often shop for Japanese food, but shopping here is a wake-up call to come here more often. This specific Tokyo Central is the biggest I've seen; there's even an upstairs! I couldn't check it out, but I definitely will next time. Right when you walk in, there are fresh meals, and everyone is swarming it because they put 20% off their meals at night to get rid of them. I knew I had to swoop in and grab a meal! All those pre-cooked meals or sushi platters are decently priced. I grabbed a yakisoba and chicken teriyaki plate. I noticed that the meats and produce are cheap and have different cuts of meat compared to American markets. My girlfriend shops here often, so if she weren't with me, I would need to figure out where to start or know what's good!
google avatar

Dominico R.

Yelp
Came here with our daughter visiting from New Hampshire. We got spicy salmon , shrimp Udon and the Takoyaki. It was all flavorful and inexpensive.
google avatar

Rosie H.

Yelp
4.5 My only complaints are the parking situation and the heat from the non-grocery areas. I would recommend that you come early because parking can be really annoying but once you get a spot, you're golden. There's so much to see here so it literally took us a couple of hours to go through the store even though I've been here a couple of times before. If you love Sanrio or kawaii products, this is the place for it. They also have tons of skin/beauty products that are worth trying. I left with so much skincare goods that I don't know how I'm going to use it all but I'm going to try my best. I love all the free samples that they have available. It's such a great way to try the food before committing. They have A5 wagyu Japanese meat. Yummmy. I love all the hot food selections too. If we hadn't eaten beforehand, we would have had a feast for sure. There's even a sushi restaurant upstairs but we didn't even bother because we were still full from lunch before.
google avatar

Zan L.

Yelp
The largest Japanese market in California. This place truly has everything from food to clothing to electronics. There are other locations of Tokyo Central in LA, but this is by far the largest one. Parking is extremely easy because there is a large free parking lot attached. They also have a sushi restaurant that just opened inside recently that is located on the second floor. It's easy to grocery shop here but also to get premade food for lunch or dinner.
google avatar

Garrett V.

Yelp
Talk about a Japanese supermarket which has EVERYTHING. The prices are incredibly competitive and honestly I'd rate this supermarket higher than Mitsuwa and Nijiya. It's owned by Marukai, which is kind of the budget Japanese supermarket. But what they did with Tokyo Central was they provide Mitsuwa/Nijiya quality wares but at lower prices. The sushi restaurant upstairs is also amazing for the price, but I'm leaving that review on the restaurants Yelp page to be fair to it.

Yelp
Writing this with you, or the history of it, will simply date me. I watched this building get built. I was simply amazed at the construction and learned that there is something called pre-stress concrete slabs. This was in the late 1990s and it was excavated graded and erected in less than six months. Back then it was known as Marukai Today it is known as Tokyo Central one of the more predominant Japanese Asian food stores in the Gardena Torrance area I did notice they had a lot of Hawaii made items like hurricane popcorn, and Hawaii sun jams So Hawaii people, you do not have to carry those things to continent you can buy it over at the Tokyo Central
google avatar

Michelle P.

Yelp
I was in the area and made a point to check out this "largest japanese market". I was pleasantly surprised how organized this market was. It was very clean and full of many things! I liked how (mostly) everything was labeled in English as most of the items were labeled in japanese. The staff was friendly and very welcoming, the only issue was most didn't speak English well. I can't wait to return and do more shopping!
google avatar

Leilani M.

Yelp
The one that started it all! For me this was a full days event when I was growing up. We'd travel from antelope valley all the way down to Torrance and we'd spend the day out in Gardena visiting our favorite spots. Tokyo central was one of them. A larger selection of goods it would be easy to spend an hour looking around. Stocked up on the hard to find ingredients and picked up some fresh sushi for the drive home. Bring a cooler! They have ice available by the fish department. You can scoop and take two bags of ice per person to keep things fresh. Really convenient for longer drives. My cousins first time here with us found hidden treasures around every corner. Some food items took her back to her time living in Maui. I love how food can spark an emotion or memory that stays with us throughout our lives. A spoonful can hold a powerful memory in just one bite.

Yelp
The good: This is the best Japanese market I've ever been to. It's huge and has a food court, a gifts (Sanrio things) and cosmetics area, ready and prepared foods like sushi or rice plates, household items like small appliances (Takoyaki pan), a conveyor belt sushi restaurant upstairs, claw machine games, and much more. The claw machine in the front of the store was $1 for one token and I won a figurine from Full Metal Alchemist on my first try. The food court area has a large outdoor seating area that's enclosed. I liked the wooden totem poles inside and the colorful wall tile and art of the building from the outside. It's architecturally interesting. I bought shabu shabu meat and tofu here. The prices were reasonable (all Japanese markets are kind of expensive). The aisles were spacious. The goods were orderly and organized. The bad: The layout is strange. The front left has a bunch of mini fridges with ice cream bars and goes into the gift section. When I exited from there I had grocery items with me but I was in front of the cash registers. I'm unsure if I was supposed to backtrack and go all the way back or not. The interesting: The market feels super spacious and open because of the high ceilings.

Yelp
This place is awesome!!! I just wish l live nearby! It takes me back to my trip to Tokyo few months ago when I went shopping multiple times at Don Quixote. They're both owned by the same company. This place is huge, luckily not as crowded as I thought it would be on a Saturday. I went shopping but couldn't buy anything refrigerated or frozen since I live 2 hours away :( I will be visiting as often as I can! They do have a small food court. Luv the takoyaki!

Yelp
This place is huge, it's like a costco size japanese market. I was very overwhelmed and made sure I circled a few times to not miss anything. I was on a mission to search for gudetama. . They have a large sushi section as well ready to eat food. There is sushi ready to go as well. Also hot food where you can pack it too. Also soup cups as well. . Besides grocery There is home good sections with lots cute stationary, cookware, and cosmetics too. . They have a food court and a sushi conveyor belt restaurant upstairs. . What did I experience? . I got to check out the restaurant. They have a conveyor belt sushi. It was made to order. This will be a separate review. It was mid nothing to rave about. . Ready to eat sushi, so I wasn't hungry but wanted a snack so I got the futomaki with Inari sushi. I also got a tray of the santa Barbara uni and paired it with sushi I got. The tray of Santa Barbara uni was amazing and reasonable tray for only 15 bucks. . I also found some gudetama tin can with cookie biscuits in it. I also got some random made in Japan tea bags sachets which is empty so you can fill your own loose leaf in it. Also found a cute made in Japan Kirby hand cream just for esthetics. . Overall this supermarket was huge. I came to check out the eats. It was worth it. There is plenty of parking which makes it more convenient. If you are looking for anything japanese check it out.

Yelp
Uh Supermarket Tourist series didn't really go very far. But this one should be on your list. PARKING easy and plenty. It is VERY far from easy public transportation. SERVICE weekend service with a smile It's chaos in there, but manageable FOOD Buffet it really good. Some vegetarian options. Restaurant upstairs is an experience. The sushi is on par with some you'll find downstairs, but more variety and custom made. Plus excellent estimated time for reservations. (Within 15 minutes) Food vendors downstairs are fun and affordable. Not many vegetarian options. Inside Regular shopping aisles. Outside Seating to eat your food. Advice. EAT. Then shop. It's priced better than "Asian aisle" in most regular groceries. And MUCH better prices than any online stores. You'll find "direct from Japan" items here too.

Yelp
This market is huge! I think it even has a restaurant upstairs I didn't get to explore. We easily spent 1.5 hours there, looking at everything then really deciding what to get. Lots of snacks and hot food. They have a little shopping cart for the young ones. My daughter filled hers up! I got blue fin tuna ($19.99), takoyaki ($4), seafood inari ($8.99). All were pretty good quality. I wanted to get other sushi platters but the maguro tuna just didn't seem as fresh. Still good price and quality. We also got some pinkglow pineapples which were pretty sweet. Soooo many items like cosmetics, toys, even gundam models to build. Definite must because there's so much to see in this store, and with plenty of parking.
google avatar

Josephine G.

Yelp
omg. This place has everything from Japan. They have restaurants inside the building and they have more food inside the store. I got excited and spent $276 in one day. And that's because I live an hour away from Gardena, without traffic. So I brought my igloo and went shopping. I don't understand the packaging and luckily, they translated it on a cardboard paper just above the items. I bought some hot items too and they were good. I would definitely go back

Although this location is out of the way for me, I would definitely come back as this place is huge and offer a large amount of items for sale throughout their store. There is a huge variety of Japanese goodies here including stuff you would see in Japan. Meats, seafood, snacks, cosmetics, household items, etc. They also have items I haven't been able to find in my local Japanese markets and closer Tokyo Central location. Great variety of ready to eat foods as well including a hot bar selection and sweets. The price is also not as expensive as one may think. One thing I don't like about this place is its parking, so if you go when it's busy, you may just be circling around this giant market for awhile before you find parking.

Yelp
What a great store. I've been to other Tokyo Central stores and this one is by far the biggest and cleanest one. So much variety in hot deli, sushi, and snack aisle. They even have their own dedicated miso aisle! I spent over an hour here looking at everything and I sure hought go by a lot where. Staff super friendly and things are always in stock. Prices on everything and clearly marked. Upon entering this store you have many various little stores that seem ramen udon or sushi. Bathrooms are also clean. On the right side you see claw machines where you can play and get goodies. At the back of the store is the fridge or frozen ramen area with a special aisle for various miso. Fresh product also in the back area. Front areas were tons of snacks and mochi so that was good. Far left area was not food but more dry goods and products like makeup to dishes to skincare. So much to see and displayed well. Plenty of parking around this store. Security guard in the front so you feel safe. Best of all is if you buy cold or refrigerated items, they will give you free ice or ice packs to take home so your items won't soil. Will definitely be back here soon!

Yelp
This Tokyo Central looks gigantic and one of the biggest I have ever been to! I like how organized this supermarket is and man you can spend hours looking at things to buy here. It not only has food items but also Japanese beauty and health items. I bought some face masks, probiotics, teas, coffee, and tons of different snacks that are imported from Japan! I love it here and this supermarket is filled with everything you need and love that is Japanese. If you are a sake drinker then you should also come here to look at their wide range of sake!

Yelp
What's not to love about this Tokyo Central location?! Plenty of parking. Clean environment and courteous employees. Love the assortment of sushi and ready to eat foods. There's a whole other section on the left with Beauty, cooking, and cleaning supplies. Sensory overload. This is a place you can spend endless time exploring and if you're hungry there are restaurants up front. I'll definitely be back to explore some more of what Tokyo Central has to offer!

Yelp
What a gem! This is a really neat asian market with a lot of stuff inside! So much variety in the items. I came for the food court, and it didn't disappoint. The treats I got were a true perfect five stars. I will be back again. Highly recommend a visit here!

Yelp
Coming to Tokyo Central is like a day at a shopping plaza in itself. It has food but also cosmetics from Japan! I remember the days when you could still walk upstairs and shop all the lifestyle items ie: slippers, home goods, apparel, etc... Now it's transformed into a conveyor belt styled sushi that is KILLING the parking during lunch and dinner hours. That said, I still can't hate on one of the best grocery shops in South Bay. It has everything and albeit pricier than your local grocers.

Yelp
It's a bit overwhelming walking into this place. There are a few food stalls to the right selling takoyaki, tonkatsu, tempura, and sweets. The bento boxes get discounted 20% after 7pm. The food court pretty much closes around 7pm. This is a nice place to grab Japanese groceries, snacks, or a meal.

Yelp
Love discovering this market with food stalls and it reminds me of a mini foodland. Great supermarket items to choose from. Love hot food bar and enjoyed the variety of food vendors.

Yelp
I have had this place in my bookmarks for like ever sooo excited to have came. This reminds me of the SMart that closed down only this one is larger and has a full restaurant upstairs. They have various samples and each sample has a pamphlet on the health benefits. I can assure you every single thing I sampled, I bought hahahaha. I love the fresh food, the smiling faces, the pricessssss, and even the area that had massagers and kitchen utensils, I'll be back forsure! 10/10

Yelp
Ordered Osechi this year. It's a bit different than the homemade Osechi I'm used to. However, this is ordered online (November in my case). Picked up on New Years Eve from customer service. VERY easy to do. Their store portion was of course an absolute ZOO! Which was expected. Thankfully I shopped early in the week for other items. Ordered the 3-tiered Osechi. For $225, it's totally worth it. It appears to be a frozen product from Japan. However, items were tasty & relieved us of a lot of work!

Yelp
The only reason I give it a 4 is cause I feel like I always spend too much money here, maybe that's my own fault though. They have everything. The best snacks, prepared food, frozen foods, drinks. It's a great place to pick up a quick lunch, pick up most Asian pantry staples, or your favorite Japanese skin care products. The lines are usually pretty quick and even when it's crowded it's big enough to get around. The produce and fish have been incredibly fresh in my experience. It's always a fun time shopping here.

Yelp
We like to explore different super market from different nationality and amazing with different items from other countries. We came to the Tokyo Central to shop around and explore this market. We have been to Tokyo Central Market in Torrance it's small to compare the one in Gardena this place is much bigger with restaurants.

Yelp
This was a Maurikai back in the day but now transitioned over to what it is now. I'd say it has improved substantially since before with food stalls and a wide range of food products, household goods, meats, groceries, desserts, sake etc.... The place is well managed and they have helpful workers throughout the store. I felt at home looking around and absorbing all the potential good eats to bring home to tryout. The store is clean and everyone going in was offered an umbrella bag and they were constantly mopping the floors to keep people from potentially slipping at the entrance. We were lucky to get this bread my friend was wanting to buy and the mochi selection was great too. Come on by and take a look at the wide selection of good eats!

Yelp
I super love this location. How i wish it was this huge like what we have in sd. Our location are pretty small. The service was not bad. All the food were really good. But a bit pricey.
