curry! katsu curry is some of my favorite food to get. my friend and i usually like to go to the same place over and over, but i think this was a great new place to try. place is a little small inside, but we didn't have to wait. strong ac inside even on a hot day. crunchy katsu, delicious curry, and a light but tasty omelette. would totally go back to try some other things!

Google
I am new to the area and was craving some pork katsu curry . Found this place and wow . Legit best katsu curry I have had in my entire life . So flavorful. Love how they include extra curry powder so you can customize your flavor and spice levels. Perfect amount of rice and curry. Friendly fast service I was taking it to go and the guy told me it would be 15 minutes but it was a bit faster. Got the large size with extra katsu and it filled me up. Would definitely go here again.

Google
Yummy! I was craving Japanese curry but didn't want chicken, so I gave this place a try. The portions are great for the price and I ended up with leftovers, which I couldn't wait to eat once I got home! The katsu pork was crunchy and juicy and the curry was divine! The staff is friendly and the interior design is cute.

Google
I found the best Japanese Katsu Curry in Orange County. The Chicken Katsu was very delicious, and the curry sauce had a great taste. The service was so pleasant, which made the food even more delicious. I will definitely come here often.

Google
It is a very nice place with a wonderful atmosphere. The pork katsy curry is a very comfy food. Pork was crispy outside and tender inside. I wish more customers for this place ^^

Google
Amazing food. The curry was flavorful and omelet was perfectly cooked. Great portions and the chives in the ramen were “exceptional”. Picture of the large chicken katsu omelet for reference.

Google
Went here about a month ago and it was delicious. Now the portion sizes are awesome. The curry was pretty awesome, especially if you get the hot one it was savory and hot, I cant say if the other ones are any different but they are going to be great. But overall the food was good, the rice isn't the best of the best but its still good rice. I mean after all you are eating it with curry so its not like you will be tasting the rice only. Overall the dish was a good balance even though i wanted more rice but then again that is just me because i wanted to keep eating 😅. Will be back again!!

Google
Delicious curry spot in Costa Mesa. Been here a couple of times now and will keep coming back.

Yelp
Chicken katsu curry w/ egg - Everything was good. Portions are great. No need for large as I could barely finish it. Chicken cooked perfectly Rice cooked perfectly. Everything came out hot. Will come again. 9 out of 10. Only reason it wasn't a 10 was because they don't have spicy rather you can add "spicy powder" to your dish.

Yelp
Very quaint and authentic feel japanese restaurant specializing in katsu curry dishes! The interior is on the smaller side, so parties no larger than four are ideal for this restaurant. You will find on their menu that they have many different options to choose from. Service was friendly and quick. Their portions are massive. My partner and I got a large chicken katsu plate to share and they definitely don't skimp out, especially on the curry. My friend got the regular size and even then he was getting very full, as the plates are quite big. Chicken Katsu Curry (4/5): This is a very solid place to get katsu curry. The curry is on the sweeter side with a more liquidy texture than thick. I found that the curry could've had a bit more flavor in depth to it, but it was still very good! There was quite a bit of oil that you could see at the top and around the rim of the curry-- it's already not the healthiest dish but I do think the separation of all the oil suggested there was too much grease in the curry itself. Chicken katsu was also made well and I liked the texture of the breading, though I think it could've been a bit more moist and seasoned too. Overall, this is a very solid place to go for a katsu craving and I would definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for an authentic and hearty meal.

Yelp
this place has been in my bookmarks for quite awhile now, and i finally got the chance to try it the other day when grabbing dinner with a friend. tokyo katsu curry is located in a pretty small and hidden plaza so the parking lot is relatively small but i didn't have an issue finding parking on a friday night. the restaurant is reallly small and quaint, with about 4 tables to the right and bar seating for about 4-5 on the left. we were seated and attended to immediately, and the waiter was very kind and had good customer service. he gave us some time to browse the menu, which was pretty simple. it was basically curry with rice or noodles, and there are an assortment of toppings you can choose from. i went with the chicken katsu curry which i added spinach to. i wasn't asked what spice level i wanted so i didnt know they had different spices to choose from. we were informed that the stove was having issues and just starting to heat up so it may take another 15 minutes for our order to come out, but even then we didn't wait too long. my dish came with a good amount of chicken katsu spread across the bed of rice, and the curry was a deep rich brown color with spinach speckled throughout. i personally felt like the chicken katsu, although very moist, could be a little crispier and wasn't as hot as i thought it would be. the curry was also not as flavorful as some other curry places, so it was a bit bland and i had to add spice to it myself. and im not sure if it was the spinach or the curry itself, but it tasted a little off to me. there was a certain amount of bitterness in the curry that i wasn't particularly fond of. i also wish they had the pickled radishes at the table rather than serving it as part of the dish, as i enjoy adding as much as i want to eat with the curry. i did like that they offered bottles of the katsu sauce at each table though. overall it is a decent curry place. the service is good and the food comes out pretty quick but i wouldn't say this is my favorite or go to curry place in oc.

Yelp
There was no wait to get seated and the service was fast. I tried the sukiyaki beef curry and pork katsu curry with omelette. I recommend adding a bit of spicy to the curry as it tastes sweeter without any spice. The portion was filling and good. Would be back again.

Yelp
I was looking for a place to eat in the area and saw Tokyo Katsu Curry at the corner of my eye. I came here with one other person for lunch on a weekend. There was one other party there but it wasn't busy at all. The restaurant itself is pretty small and very casual. The staff there are really nice and helpful. I shared the pork katsu curry plate with one other person. It came with curry, the perfectly fried pork katsu on top of a bed of rice. It was delicious. The katsu was perfectly fried and seasoned right. The rice and curry were also so good. The curry went with the katsu well. And I am glad we shared because a plate is pretty big. We only paid about $23 for both of us. Besides the different types of katsu plates, they also had ramen and udon. I do want to come back and try their other dishes. I definitely recommend if you are craving something affordable and love katsu or curry.

Yelp
Hidden gem alert! Not only it tastes authentic, they are really good and I can't wait to come back. The pork Katsu is juicy and curry is not too overpowering. I ordered the nonspicy one , but it doesn't give me a bland flavor like other places I've been too. The place is small and intimate, reminds me of most restaurants in Japan. The staff are nice and fast as well. Highly recommend to try this hidden gem!

Yelp
Very casual, cozy feel. Menu is very focused on curry, didn't fully look before. Service was polite, friendly, attentive. If you want simple solid curry, a solid choice. I think I might still prefer the Mitsuwa food court's one but that one trades no egg part for a salad and the curry does taste slightly different. This is a specialty shop and I was interested and my expectations fluctuated before I ate but it is a decent option! The meat portion on the katsu was very large!! So that is a better option in some ways!

Yelp
There are plenty of parkings outside. There isn't much seatings inside, but I got there around 6:30 and there was no wait. I got the chicken katsu curry udon and the chicken katsu curry rice. The udon texture was very chewy and addicting. The taste is excellent and customizable with the powder they provided. I would recommend to try!
google avatar

Yelp
Super cozy spot with limited parking, but worth the trip!! Servers are excellent, food is great, and we will definitely be back!! The panko is one of the best I've had!!
google avatar

Jenny B.

Yelp
The place is small, but service is FAST! I went first thing when they opened and there were 4 other parties there. The restaurant has a few tables and a bar table against the table. Once we placed our order, it only took a little over maybe 5-ish minutes before we got served. Food tasted great. No complaints on my end!

Yelp
Love this gem. First and most important is this spot serves house made curry you can really taste the difference. Many places use the S&B instant curry which I can buy at the super market and make it myself. Tokyo Katsu Curry is elevated, you can taste the rich spices & flavor, they use real fruit to add depth, and it's absolutely delicious. I love the katsu, it's crispy and juicy. I can't resist adding the omelette for extra goodness. The service is outstanding and friendly. This is the perfect spot for a comforting curry meal.

Yelp
Tokyo Katsu Curry is a local Japanese curry spot in Costa Mesa. It is a very small, unassuming restaurant that is easy to overlook, but honestly it is some of the best curry I've had. The flavor of the curry is amazing, and I particularly recommend the Omelette Chicken Katsu Curry as it gives a little more creaminess to the curry. I think this spot is better than CoCo Ichibanya, which I also hold in high regard. The service is always friendly and efficient, with our server Vincent being extra helpful to us. I will say the parking is a little tough, sometimes you will need to park in the Camp parking lot and walk over, but it is definitely worth it. Overall, Tokyo Katsu Curry is one of the best curry spots I've had, and I cannot recommend it enough!
google avatar

Kimberly N.

Yelp
Small, homey Japanese curry joint, reminiscent of the storefronts in Asia. The katsu here was some of the best I've ever had, and the ramen and udon stayed hot until the very end!! The storefront is small, a little smaller than cozy; but, the attentive level of service makes up for the small dining area. Perfect for duos or small groups, but I'd recommend elsewhere for groups of larger than 5. My only ask is to provide the pickles at the table, similar to a few competitors. Some dishes served without the pickles would really benefit from the option of having pickles to add some texture and crunch. Note: cashless store
google avatar

Elle E.

Yelp
Best Japanese curry around! I love the spinach add in. The omelette is so soft and yummy. The chicken I really high quality and huge portion. You'll have a second meal for sure!
google avatar

RJ M.

Yelp
First time here, and omg it was soooo good. At first I was a bit turned off by the price cuz it can get pretty pricey depending on what you order and add onto your dish. But their portions are huge!! Well worth the money we spent with some add-ons we requested in our dishes. Sooo much curry sauce, and I personally thought it was absolutely delicious. I wish their chicken katsu was as juicy as their pork katsu, because our chicken was a bit dry. Aside from that, I highly recommend getting the Omelette Pork Katsu Curry. It was the best dish of the night.
google avatar

Yelp
One of my all-time favorite curry houses! This tiny mom-and-pop joint puts out a slew of curry options, as well as some other basic Japanese noodle dishes -- ramen and udon. My Omelette Pork Katsu Curry was amazing! I was talked into a Regular versus and Large, and it was good tip, for sure. The portions are on the bigger side. A fluffy, slightly sweet omelette tops a small mound of rice, which is topped with Katsu Curry. A moat of perfectly spiced curry surrounds this goodness. The lone server was awesome! Kept up with the crowd and gig orders, and was just the right amount of attentiveness throughout the meal. If there was a negative, parking is scarce, as it shares the parking lot with a busy nightclub.
google avatar

Kenny L.

Yelp
We got the regular sized pork katsu omelette curry and it was definitely a big portion. The omelette was nice and fluffy and the pork katsu was cooked just right. A good classic Japanese curry.

Yelp
My kid was craving Japanese food so we decided to try here. This is located in a small strip mall off of Baker Street. The biggest cross street would be Bristol Street, but it's not in The CAMP, it's like behind it, separate from The CAMP. Parking is kind of limited. We got here on a late August Sunday a little after 12:00pm, and luckily found parking right in front. The inside is pretty small, maybe seats roughly 25-30 people or so? There was only one other party inside besides ourselves so still pretty empty, but more people came in towards the end of our meal. My kid ordered the regular chicken katsu curry ($14.50), I ordered the regular omelette chicken katsu curry ($17.00), and we shared two orders of gyoza (2pc per order, $1.80ea). I noted regular size because you can order a larger portion for a few bucks more (only for rice dishes). The katsu was tasty. Piping hot when it came out, crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. The omelette was also cooked nicely, not under or overcooked, slightly runny like in Japan. The curry had a slight sweetness so I probably should've gotten at least a mild spicy level instead of non-spicy to give it a slight kick. My kid got the mild spicy, and she even said that that wasn't spicy at all. I don't remember if they offer levels of spiciness, but definitely would like to kick it up a notch if we get a chance to return. FYI, their curry has a deep flavor with aromatics and a slight sweetness (fruitiness?) so don't expect it to be like the curry at Curry House.

Yelp
Cool lil spot in CM, this was my 2nd visit. This time the menu had more options and they added the egg omelet too. Curry is very good and you can tweak it at the table for more heat as needed. They are a little shy on curry to food ratio but it worked, next time I need to ask for extra curry. Friendly and attentive staff, small place but they stayed on top of our needs. Parking is a little crowded but there are lots of options around them too and since they have like 7 plus micro-breweries near by you can grab a beer for the walk (well not walking with it) LOL My 2nd favorite curry spot now and definitely the closest option to my office and house so Ill be coming back a lot.
google avatar

Michelle R.

Yelp
Thank you yelpers for leading me here. I'm hoping that this place doesn't spread as it's tiny and hard enough to get a table. Unfortunately those darn instagram people are posting reels so word is spreading. Decent katsu curry and the price is competitive. It's my closest fix to the old Curry House restaurant and worth the drive here
google avatar

Melanie G.

Yelp
My group went on a Wednesday at noon so there was no rush and we were seated right away. Clean and homey restaurant space. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time. And our server was very kind and attentive! I got the regular sized potato croquette curry with regular spice. The potato croquettes are warm and fluffy inside, but have a thin crispy panko layer to coat them; they're very good! The curry is tasty and the regular heat is mild. They give a fair amount of rice to eat with it and some red ginger as well! Overall, a good and warm meal to have for not a bad price!
google avatar

Yelp
The restaurant was pretty small walking in but we were one of the first customers about 20 minutes after they opened! We were immediately greeted and chose our own seating. It had simple decorations but still had a nice vibe. We ordered the omelette chicken katsu curry and the sukiyaki beef curry. They did ask whether you wanted no spice or spice (mild) and I chose the mild as I do enjoy some spice but I only felt a tingle. I have to say this has to be one of the best katsu curry places I've tried! I really enjoyed the curry along with the well seasoned, crispy katsu. The omelette complemented the dish well though I would say it can go without. I wish I asked for more pickled radish though!!
google avatar

Franciechu V.

Yelp
The food here is incredible! The curry is delicious, comforting and well balanced. Every part of our meal was great and the staff were very kind. The place is small and very cute! The only thing that would be a slight improvement is having Asahi on draft
google avatar

Joan V.

Yelp
A hidden gem! Came here for dinner on a Tuesday night and was pleasantly surprised. It's a small restaurant but there is decent parking when you enter the lot. They also have two spots in front of the restaurant reserved for customers. This place is card only! We got the recommended chicken katsu with shrimp tempura and potato croquette and a pork katsu omelet curry. The pork wasn't dry and still had the fat on which I prefer but the chicken was a lot more soft and tender in comparison. Both had a nice crunch! The curry was really flavorful and you can adjust your spice level! The condiments on the side were great. It's a small restaurant but clean inside. Definitely recommend this spot!

Yelp
Truly a delightful experience and I'm already looking forward to coming back! I've had it bookmarked for a bit and was super excited when we happened to drive by it when we were in Costa Mesa. Needless to say, we had to stop by and I'm glad we did! Inside is very cozy, with not too many seatings available. I'd estimate about 20-25 max for seating? So I'd imagine it can get pretty packed. We're extremely lucky we went during an off time so there was no wait at all and we were seated quick upon entering. The person who took our order was very friendly and was quick to help us! Now, the food. Oh my, the food was absolutely amazing. I really enjoyed the curry flavor here and while I did get no spicy, there was still so much flavor in it! I was really surprised at the size of their regular and didn't think I'd finish it but I did and I was full for the rest of the day! I also ordered a side of corn (extra $1.50) just because I love corn and it was sweet! OMELETTE CHICKEN KATSU CURRY: the breading on the chicken was so crispy! I was so surprised when I bit into it and the breading did not fall apart either. It paired very well with the curry. The omelette is a must for me whenever I get Japanese curry and this also didn't disappoint. PORK KATSU CURRY: my bf got this and he also enjoyed it. I tried a bit of his Katsu and I really loved how tender the pork was, and again the breading was on point. Pricing was pretty fair imo. For the size of the plates, I'd say it was definitely worth it! Overall we really enjoyed the curry here and we hope to be back soon!

Yelp
I LOVE Japanese curry! It brings back so many nostalgic memories of my trips to Japan. Did you know it's one of Japan's most beloved comfort meals? The moment I stepped in Tokyo Katsu Curry, I felt like I was back in Japan! The beautiful decor, friendly service, and intimate seating create a truly authentic experience. Their star attraction is their house-made curry. Crafted from an exclusive selection of fresh vegetables, ripe fruits, and a custom blend of spices. Each batch is simmered for over 24 hours, creating a symphony of taste that captures the essence of Japan. I highly recommend trying their Chicken Katsu Curry, Omelette Pork Sausage Curry, and House Special Curry Ramen! I love drenching my rice in the curry and creating the perfect bite with some fukujinzuke (Japanese pickles), a slice of the crispy chicken katsu or a combination of the omelette and pork sausage -- Japanese pork sausage is one of my all-time favorites! And I loved that the House Special Curry Ramen includes a boiled egg, corn, and chicken! It was absolutely delicious! Be sure to visit Tokyo Katsu Curry if you're ever in the mood for some amazing Japanese curry!

Yelp
I've been on the hunt for a go to curry restaurant ever since Curry House closed. Here's what we ordered... Omelette and tonkatu curry: Very tasty Mixed vegetable curry: Big pieces of potatoes, carrots and onions just the way I like it Side order of potato croquette: I've had better, but it was fine The restaurant is on the small side, but it has some character. Food takes time for it to come out, so bring your patience. My hunt continues, but I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.
google avatar

Christina V.

Yelp
I love Japanese curry and this place delivers! I ordered the omelette chicken curry and their omelette sukiyaki beef curry. Both were delicious and so flavorful! I must say the spice level here is not spicy at all and a little kick of spice would have been perfect! All in all, I left very satisfied and would be coming back for more!!

Yelp
Got here on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30pm and there wasn't any wait so we were seated immediately. At first glance, prices are cheaper than your usual popular Japanese curry spots in OC so that was nice. We both ordered the chicken katsu curry with an omelette and an extra order of pork katsu on the side. When the food came out, we were pleasantly surprised to see how big the portions were but immediately regretted not splitting one order. Either way, the curry itself wasn't a super strong flavor but they do give you a lot which is nice. The pork and chicken katsu was very juicy and crunchy and they actually give you a LOT of katsu for one serving. Overall, I say you're getting a bang for your buck since portion sizes are huge but the flavor is just a bit lacking.

Yelp
Tokyo Katsu Curry offers a delightful culinary experience that blends traditional Japanese flavors with a modern twist. The restaurant's ambiance is cozy yet vibrant, creating a welcoming atmosphere from the moment you step in. Their signature dish, the Katsu Curry, is a true standout. The crispy, golden-brown katsu (breaded and deep-fried cutlet) is perfectly paired with a rich, savory curry sauce that strikes a balance between sweet and spicy. The portion size is generous, ensuring you leave satisfied without feeling overwhelmed. What sets Tokyo Katsu Curry apart is their attention to detail in both presentation and taste. Each component of the dish is meticulously prepared, resulting in a harmonious blend of textures and flavors. The curry itself is robust and flavorful, complementing the tender katsu impeccably. Service at Tokyo Katsu Curry is prompt and friendly, adding to the overall enjoyable dining experience. Whether you're a fan of Japanese cuisine or new to it, Tokyo Katsu Curry is a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in authentic flavors with a modern twist.

Yelp
I order omelet chicken katsu but they gave me the wrong order: chicken katsu. The dish is not worth 21$
google avatar

Nina L.

Yelp
Omelette pork katsu curry ($18 regular) Omelette chicken katsu curry ($17 regular) The regular size is generous and could probably be shared by 2 people/eaten for 2 meals. The curry spice flavor is good; you have a choice between mild or not spicy, but mild honestly isn't spicy at all. The katsu was crispy and had good breading. The chicken seems a little daunting/undercooked at first because it's pink, but I'm pretty sure that's just how the chicken is.
google avatar

Lena T.

Yelp
I was really craving curry so I decided to try this spot. It mainly specializes in curry and curry udon. I got chicken curry udon and my partner got pork katsu curry. I liked his a lot more than mine. I felt that because mine was curry udon it was diluted more to a soup but it lost some of the flavor versus the regular curry. I would have preferred their regular curry sauce for my udon noodles. This place is good but it does not have the wow, this place curry is the best ever. I would def go here for the katsu curry versus the udon. I also didn't see in the menu that you can add spice but i overheard that you could and wish i did that on my curry udon. Serivce was really nice and there is a lot of parking in the front area.
google avatar

Jamie S.

Yelp
amazing as usual, so good every time. no matter chicken or pork or rice or udon it's all good. must try
google avatar

Tiffany T.

Yelp
I heard some things about this spot so I checked it out. It's a pretty small location in a random plaza. I saw a review that one large can feed two. Me and my friend are definitely not large eaters. In fact, we're really small eaters. We shared one and were left slightly hungry still. However, the dish wasn't my favorite... I felt like I could make better curry myself. The pork was bland and the curry texture and flavor was strange. I wasn't a fan. Service was ok, I did feel bad that we only ordered one dish and I think they were a little put off by that too. It's kind of a quick grab and go spot.
google avatar

Vivi G.

Yelp
This place is great. Super nice service and solid Japanese curry. It's a small restaurant so this is better for individual dining or a very small group. You're not going to find a bunch of sides (I admit, I usually go to Coco Ichibanya for their naan bread) but they have everything you need!!! You can get curry with rice or udon. There's plenty of options for mixed vegetables, fried shrimp, katsu, beef sukiyaki, and omelette. I ordered a spicy fried shrimp mixed vegetable curry and it was expectedly a bit mild, since most Japanese food isn't spicy. If you want to turn up the intensity of the curry flavor, there's some curry spice on every table, along with katsu sauce and a fire spice blend. The fire is no joke- it's actually insanely hot, like Indian levels of spicy if you pour it into your curry. Overall, I'd love to come back. $25 for curry and Calpico (including tax) is a lot, but I think this small business is worth supporting. Most plates are about $15 which isn't bad considering the insane inflation right now. The food was very fresh and the portion size was more than I needed to eat, but it was the perfect amount for my soul!

Yelp
My friend and I decided to check out this spot while walking past it and we definitely made a good choice. The curry pairs perfectly with rice and your choice of protein. I love how fluffy and creamy their omelette is, worth a try. The workers are so so sweet and the service was so fast. The restaurant is a smaller in size, I imagine it gets busy on the weekends! ig: @cravingswithcat

Yelp
Didn't really enjoy the curry at this place. It had a distinct flavor that I wasn't a big fan of. It had this bright taste if that makes any sense. And they don't have spice levels, it's just regular or spicy. I also had a chance to try curry with spinach, it was really nasty. Don't mix spinach to your curry! I highly recommend Kagura nearby for the best katsu curry in town.

Yelp
So glad we found this cute HOLE IN THE WALL curry place! We really miss CURRY HOUSE and wish it did not close down. We were FOOD hoping that day and this was a great way to end the day with some curry! I love supporting small businesses! The service was EXCELLENT and the food was GOOD. My favorite side dishes were the SHRIMP TEMPURA and the little SAUSAGES! I also enjoyed the veggies and the POTATO CROQUETTE! The matcha latte was not sweet but, very very STRONG! The LARGE CHICKEN KATSU CURRY was enough for 2 people! We came around 4pm and there were plenty of seats available but, only 2 parking spaces for their store in the front. I noticed that TOGO orders were RockN! Cute and cozy little curry house! Worth trying guys!! Cheers Yelpers!!!

Yelp
A solid Japanese curry place to satisfy your cravings, but not necessarily the best place in my opinion (more like 3.5 stars). We got the chicken katsu curry udon and chicken katsu curry rice plate. The katsu was really good! Light and crispy. We also got the potato croquettes which are also good. The broth for the curry udon was too thin. I'm used to a thicker and more flavorful broth. The katsu was also placed inside the udon bowl, making it soggy. Ask for katsu on the side if you order the udon!

Jessica L.

Yelp
We were around the area and ended up here. It was relatively empty when we were came so parking was super simple and easy. The bathroom is locked and needs a key to unlock - which can kind of be annoying but understandable since it's right by the door. The restaurant itself is small with a few tables and some solo eating spots - this really reminded us of Japan. Overall, the service was really nice! We bought the baby and he even got little utensils and a cup of water for himself, haha. Can't go wrong with pork katsu curry - perfectly cooked, crispy, yet still juicy inside. Curry was tasty - you could really taste that homemade flavor. Overall, we were pretty happy campers and likely would come back if we were in the area.

Yelp
Katsu curry, a quintessential comfort food. Thick and juicy slabs of meat breaded and deep fried until crispy and golden brown sitting atop a bed of bed of rice, swimming in piping hot curry. A harmonious balance of umami, spice, and a touch of sweetness. A friend who frequents this spot regularly highly recommended that we try it. After our last visit to Japan together, we often reminisce about the amazing food that we had the opportunity to experience. I feel like there is an abundance of curry spots in California but a truly good flavorful curry is hard to find. Tokyo Katsu Curry is a small restaurant with probably seven tables and a small counter that hugs the left side of the restaurant. Our party put our name down for a party of three and there was a little bit of a wait which is totally understandable considering the restaurant size. The menu is very compact with only a few offerings which I find to be preferable (nobody likes decision paralysis when they're hungry). I opted for the spicy tonkatsu curry with cheese and a soft boiled egg and a large portion of fukujinzuke. At first bite, the curry is rich with a small touch of sweetness. It reminded me a lot of the homemade curries that use chocolate or red wine as their secret ingredient. The tonkatsu had a nice crunch and the pork was very tender with small hints of marbling that had that wonderful porky flavor. I also loved the soft boiled egg which leans more towards onsen egg consistency since the whites are very custardy and soft. It melts into the flavors of the curry perfectly. As a heads up, I believe the sizes deal more so with rice portioning versus actual curry size. The service here is fantastic and very attentive. They offered a few things on the house because of the wait and a few mix ups in the kitchen which was very much appreciated. You can definitely tell the staff genuinely care about the customer experience. Overall, we were very satisfied with our experience and look forward to coming back here again soon!

Yelp
Blow your mind curry! Ordered takeout after a long day at work. Used the yelp app and it went smoothly. Both plates were flavorful and a repeat menu item. Service was fast but I preordered. Ambiance was busy. It was a good sign as it was my first time ordering.

Yelp
Hey Beautiful People! So you know how a bunch of Japanese curry places have been popping up in So Cal recently? Most have been decent, and some are pretty good, but I've yet to try a spot that knocks my socks off. How about you? However, I'm happy to report thaf this family-owned and operated spot is a solid 4, and the prices are very fair for such large portion sizes, but if the curry were a touch bolder and the meat a touch juicier, it could pull off a 5. Here's what I recommend: 1.) Omelette Chicken Katsu Curry Eggs are not dry--a bit more on the runny side if you're okay with that. Stirred in with the curry & eaten with every bite of chicken, this is a savory dish that feels like home. 2.) Omelette Pork Katsu Curry The pork version of the dish mentioned above. Pork was tender, but more on the bland side, and the omelette rice is also runny, which I much prefer over rubbery eggs. My friends tried the curry udon and curry ramen too, which comes with $2 noodle refills, but I haven't tried them yet. But have a good time, & let me know how your visit goes!

Yelp
Was craving for some chicken katsu curry and came across this cute place close by. I had ordered to go but it was still warm and crispy when I got home and tasted amazing! When I went to pick up my order, I noticed it was hidden in a small location with a few tables inside. The service was great and portions are generous. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
The best Japanese curry I've had in my life. Their curry is cooked for 24 hours allowing the flavors to come together for a longer time and really allowing the various aromas and tastes to come through. It's so flavorful and tasty! Not too spicy or sweet either, which is sometimes a gripe I have about Japanese curry. The workers are super friendly and also gave my boyfriend and I Ramune drinks on the house since we switched seats with another customer who had a larger party than us. I would love to come back here sometime!

Yelp
I love katsu curry and so far, this place is my favorite spot in the neighborhood. Omelette was good, pork katsu breading was thin which I loved. Sauce was kind of on the sweeter than other curry places. Will come back :)

Yelp
We were in the area and my husband was craving Japanese curry. On a Saturday afternoon, we came in and were able to get seating quickly. There is not a lot of seating inside, so I imagine the wait can be long at peak hours. We ordered the Regular Chicken Katsu Curry and with Tofu Katsu and Potato Croquette as add-ons. My husband ordered the large size and I ordered the regular size. The large size and the regular size, according to my husband, did not seem like much of a difference as the large size seemed to have more rice and a little more curry but not much difference in protein portion. However, we found both sizes to be pretty generous. Since we also opted for no spice in our curry, we found the curry flavor lacking and on the bland side. I think we should have added either a 1 or 2 in spice to get some flavor. However, the chicken, tofu, and potato croquettes were cooked well; perfectly crispy and warm, without being too oily. Next time we come back, we will probably order one large size and share it.

Yelp
This it's probably a very authentic Japanese curry, but I found the flavor profile to be very, very mild and not to my liking. The portions are generous, and the food is well prepared.
