I stumbled upon this place when I was staying at a nearby hotel. It was around 9PM, and I was too tired to dine in at any restaurants. When I searched nearby restaurants, this place caught my eye as a more unique fast casual experience. After browsing the menu, I was was happy to see how indecisive I was. The variety of Peri-Peri style chicken combos offered a lot to try. The options include many appetizer items, sandwiches, bowls, salads, platters, plates, and build-your-own options.
I wanted to try as many items as possible without ordering too much. Using the online ordering platform made it very easy to see descriptions and item ingredients. I ended up going for Build Your Own Plate with Leg and Thigh Chicken. For my two included signs, I chose the Tomato Garlic Toast and Seasoned Fries with Brava Sauce. The Plates also include two sauces, which are the star of the show with Peri Peri restaurants. I went for the Mango Mojo and Citrus Peri Peri.
I went to pick up my order about 15 minutes after placing it online. Since I came in later in the evening, the restaurant was pretty empty. The employee working behind the counter greeted me and addressed my order immediately. He was very pleasant, and made sure to offer utensils and napkins to me.
The food smelled delicious, and I couldn't wait to get back to my hotel to eat. As soon as I tried each item, I became more and more impressed. The chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly. It has enough seasoning to give it flavor while still allowing you to enjoy the sauces on the side. The seasoning on the fries was delicious, and they maintained a very nice crispness despite being in a box for takeout. Even the Tomato Garlic Toast was crispy, flavorful, and delicious. It wasn't the stale end of day bread that a lot of restaurants will give you with your meal. The sauces were an amazing highlight. The Brava Sauce that came with my fries was a little bit creamy, tangy, and spicy. It accompanied both my chicken and fries very well. The Mango Mojo was tangy, sweet, and refreshing. The Citrus Peri Peri wasn't my favorite, but the quality and freshness of the ingredients were evident.
I rarely every LOVE places I try as takeout for this first time. However, this place knocked it out of the park in every category. Even more importantly, they maintained great quality and freshness close to their closing time. Many restaurants fail in this specific category. Not only was it a great meal, but a very unique cuisine for the fast casual landscape. The only negative about this place is that there are no locations in the Northeast.
