Delicious food. Service at Tomas Cafe in Oxnard was even better. A cafe that has that down home feeling. Hospitality is the word I’m looking for. Speaking for myself, the food is just as important as the service. This place does it for me. I recommend the eggs Benedict with ham steak: it really is ham steak! 😊

This was our first time here and it was great! We ordered the chilaquiles and the chile verde plate. Both dishes were so good, we are definitely coming back for more!

I ordered through DoorDash. The smoothie was amazing! The most ripe banana I’ve ever had! The biscuits and gravy were only OK. I’m sure the Mexican food is good, but I didn’t order it this time

We were here in the morning for Valentine's Day and had an excellent time! We loved the customer service and quality of the food and drinks. We will be back for sure! Thank you, Tomas Cafe!

The worst breakfast ever! We went this morning and ordered 2 Jesus’ Chilaquiles with red sauce, it literally tasted like chile guajillo, no other flavor, not even salt/pepper. The rice was old, I’m sure it had been reheated at least twice. The chocolate chip pancakes had just chocolate chips as topping not even inside. There’s nothing less disappointing than wasting your money on horrible food. Definitely not going back.

Tomas Cafe is the place to be! Had one of the most memorable brunches with my lady on Sunday. Service was top notch, food was very good (in big portions!) and the atmosphere was very family friendly. You HAVE TO try the Mexican breakfast, the Cinnamon roll (best I ever had!) and the Spanish Omelet. Great coffee, best orange juice I had in a while, fresh fruits & vegetables and amazing thick cut bacon. Need I say more?

Very good chilaqulas. The food is always delicious. The service is not very good. We asked to substitute fries with hash browns and was told no. They should have more flexibility even if they charge for it. Don't go for the service. Get it to go!

In Real Estate they say Location, Location, Location...but Buildings have their own personality and charm. Tomas Cafe is a unique place and I love the space. The building is ginormous! Lots of room for a big family breakfast, a business meeting with colleagues, or to allow yourself personal space to catch up with a loved one or friend. The wood panels and glass structures that divide the various rooms in the space remind us that architecture and art exist all around. There is lots of light that comes through and it doesn't feel like a diner or cookie-cutter cafe. It feels like something more. It's nice to grab a seat and drink a cup of coffee out of glass cup, resting on a saucer. It's the simple details that remind you we need to give attention and time to things in our daily routines or rituals. Tomas Cafe is where you can do this...read a newspaper with your breakfast. Or bring in a book and enjoy time with yourself in a beautiful space. Whenever I'm craving a solid breakfast sandwich, it's one of the first spots that always comes to mind. The TC Breakfast Egg Sandwich is simple, but delicious! 2 eggs, a slice of bacon, Cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes on brioche bun. What more do you want to get you started? Its the perfect amount to get you going but not slow you down. The homemade salsa that comes with it has flavor and spice and everything nice!

I tried this place with my mom after a medical follow up appointment. I was pleasantly surprised. The menu was easy to understand and both people I interacted with were very nice and accommodating. The omelettes and potatoes are so legit. And the side of fruit I ordered was very fresh and tasty. The coffee drip and latte were both great. A clean environment and consistent attention. Lots of kindness. I recommend trying this spot. I liked it.

Came for brunch so this is based off that experience alone as we were not directly serviced. The . Food . Was . DELICIOUS ! That's it , that's the post! Tomas Cafe put out a beautiful brunch spread and everything was so good (well, except the pastries). They even had YELLOW WATERMELON - like what? Never had it ! The staples really were their fried chicken and their grits. YUMMY! Will definitely have to go back to get the restaurant experience.

Most breakfast places are pretty full by 10:00 am, this place was almost empty. That should have been a red flag but we stayed anyway. It wasn't bad but it could be way better. Breakfast tacos were hot but rice and beans were barely warm. Egg sandwich was okay, nothing to rave about. Pastry was warmed in the microwave. I swear their pastries are from Porto's. I asked for a cold brew with vanilla in it and they gave me an iced vanilla latte. I was sadly disappointed because I was really looking forward to eating here.

Came here for breakfast time. It's a bit confusing as I entered there is no server and we waited for less than 5 min and then a lady says you can come and order, I get more confused I'm at a restaurant I was expecting to take a seat and get served, unfortunately it does not work that way. I don't understand how you are supposed to pay up front and provide a tip when you have not been served yet or had no service. The food was okay, I tried the famous cinnamon I didn't taste anything special about it. Not convinced to return.

I ordered this via Uber Eats. They did not have 2 out of the 3 things I ordered for breakfast and it took over 2 hours for the delivery. The driver called me, they did not have a turkey burger so I settled for beef. They also did not have ribeye steak so they wanted to substitute a brisket burrito. I figured I should at least get 2 and to their credit they gave me 2. However, it took them over 2 hours to delivery this to me as well, so of course everything was cold

The breakfast I ordered at Tomas Cafe, the Jesus's Chilaquiles it has to be the most non-Mexican breakfast I ever had eaten. The restaurant serves American and Mexican breakfast, on the menu describes what is considered to be a traditional Mexican dish. Pros - clean, spacious area to eat, friendly and attentive personnel. The women's bathroom spacious and well kept. Cons - the food is order over the counter, then food is delivered to your table. If it is your first time and not familiar with the menu you better step aside to read the menu. Otherwise, you will be holding the line for the other ones they want to place an order. The picture on the website of the Jesus's Chilaquiles looked totally different of what I was served. In addition, ordered a regular cup of coffee and a cherry turnover pastry. Jesus's Chilaquiles, it appears the beans, the rice and the tortillas chips were piled up on a plate. The sunny side up eggs on top of the tortillas chips were cooked as I requested. The refried beans and the rice lacks of flavor. The tortillas chips were not wet with the red sauce. Instead, I got a side order of the red sauce. The receipt states the green sauce to be served on the side. The queso fresco was ordered on the side. The coffee was not hot enough it was lukewarm. The cherry turnover pastry was not appealing barely had some filling. Noticed next to Jesus's Chilaquiles plate is the receipt. Management, I would recommend to check the order prior to be served. Very disappointed, definitely I will not come back.

The other day my daughter and I went for a good breakfast and they ended up the breakfast on paper plates. Then their relatives or close friends came and they were served with real plates where as other customers were served with paper plates and disposable utensils. They charge us for the same amount as charging a normal restaurant. We just ate our food and left to never come back ever again. 0 stars.

My wife, daughter and me had a late breakfast and tried out this place for our first time. Awesome food. Daughter had the chilaqille breakfast and my wife and me had the chilaquile burrito. Both awesome meals. Meet the owner who is a awesome person and awesome host. I recommend this place.

SERVICE: They have outdoor seating options, staff were nice, place was clean, and parking was a little hard but mainly due to a funeral taking place across the street. Also, they gave us plastic utensils which was a little questionable due to ordering steak, but it was fine. FOOD: First, can talk about how delicious the orange juice was? People! Go get a bottle-now! Support them! Food was good. You'll see what i got from the pics. The only disappointment that came wit humor were the grits. Allow us to say it is hard to find cafe's, etc. who sell grits here in Oxnard. We called them and they said yes which made us come after calling literally a few restaurants. Well, we were excited for the grits but laughed hard when we saw how soupy they were hahaha. Hey, it is what it is. WELL: We shall return.

Tomas Cafe hosted our private event in their banquet room. It was amazing! Great food, great service, and the staff was wonderful.

Consistent, Authentic Mexican cuisine everytime. TC Chorizo burrito is fantastic. Their green salsa is one of the best salad's I've ever had.

Idk why I haven't yelped them before. Cute and fantastic hidden gem in downtown Oxnard. Been coming here for years !! Absolute hands down Favorite cafe in Oxnard!! From food, customer service, ambiance, and pricing you seriously can't go wrong. My son has grown up loving this place and still gets excited each time. We love talking with the staff every-time so friendly welcoming and they have become our favorite spot. They have a variety of food your typical cafe dishes along with some delicious Mexican favorites. We love there chilaquiles, their basic breakfast and their chicken avocado sandwich. My son loves there Jessica's pancake combo. These are our go tos every time!! They also have fresh squeeze juices and a cafe with delicious lattes and coffees.

Horrible experience! First of all you order at the register and pay before you even get your food. Ordered the chile verde and the rice was so cold as if they just took it out of the fridge. The avocado omelet was so small and the O'Brien potatoes were so cold. Food was a disappointment. Last time I come here to eat! 3/14/2025

Omg it's Sunday my daughter bought my breakfast delivered to her home I have gotten a breakfast burrito oh my God it was so good I enjoyed it every place I go is always greasy with the I got burrito was not greasy but delicious I would recommend people to go there and try it out my granddaughter enjoyed the the chocolate chip pancakes with the bacon oh she was leaving loving it thank u

Terrible, el huevo sunny side up cruda la clara y mal echo,después te lo tapan con sour cream para que no te des cuenta?; la salsa de chilaquiles sin sabor y el arroz recalentado de 2 días mínimo, y de la presentación del plato mejor ni hablamos, mi hija no se termino ni un solo pancake de chispas ( se supone que las chispas de chocolate van dentro y se las pusieron encima), posiblemente tengo un paladar muy exigente pero si voy a un restaurante voy con la expectativa de recibir un buen platillo por el cual estoy pagando y en este caso no fue así. Tengo años de experiencia de tras de una cocina cuando gusten les puedo ir a dar clases de cómo es que se hace.

First time ordering breakfast from here. I was so amazed at how great the food was! I had a half order of bisquits and gravy to die for! so good. My daughter had their breakfast burrito, and she said best she has ever had! I will for sure be ordering from here again.

Service issue :, I respect the owners but I will not be returning after a terrible service this morning. It was an older Mexican lady (I'm Mexican by the way) , she charged us extra for our drinks that came with the meals we ordered and she didn't make any effort to go out of her way to make sure we weren't charged just because "the machine didn't let her" paid an extra $10 for drinks because of her incompetence, after we had a good amount of food left over, when we asked for to go boxes We were given small boxes little brown boxes that was not enough, we looked ridiculous struggling putting all of our food into the containers

I love the food here, but it takes everything in my power to deal with the owners mom. My AXXESS coupon should give me 15% discount. In the past, she always changes it to 10%! Today, she refused to honor it at all!! She said they haven't honored it in over two years. The AXXESS program gets renewed every year. Nope, we were here a couple of times and the employee honored it at 15%. Food is to good to give it up tho.... :(

The food is very good, big portions, great atmosphere the only thing is you have to order at the front counter first before seating so it takes longer to look over the menu instead of taking your time at the table!

Food is amazing, service was perfect, I just didn't like the set-up. I did recommend my husband and son go try this place, even though I won't be coming back. The vibes were good , MJ was playing and my 5year old loved it. -But this is a place where u order first, then sit down and wait, I felt like I couldn't take my time with the menu and just ended up ordering whatever. It was good, just not what I expected.

I just got off Dr the freeway home with the restaurant and am not happy! I have ordered from this restaurant many times. My husband has discovered their club sandwich recently. When it arrives the fries are with the sandwich. Which makes them soggy. No matter how many times I put on the ticket to please put fries separate, they are always together. I decided to call today, immediately after receiving confirmation that they had my order. I did not pull a Karen. I politely asked if they could box the fries separate. The woman said they always put the fries in with the sandwich. I replied that I know but want them separate. She replied this is how they package. I again asked for them to be separate. The tone was rude, brisk, and don't bother me. She then said that it would be another container. I offered to pay for the container. Her curt reply was they would do it "just this one time". They just lost a customer who orders or visits at least twice a month and spends on average $60 per visit. During the pandemic/lockdown this was once a week.

I ordered my mom a Mother's Day brunch to be delivered and Tomas Cafe came through. With quarantine, I wasn't able to visit her. My mom said it was delicious and sent me pics. I had eaten here once before with her, and I could almost taste the plates through my screen. I ordered her the cinnamon roll a la mode (with the ice cream on the side), the chicken fried steak, and a couple side orders of bacon. The portions were food-coma huge. Thank you, Tomas Cafe!

If I could leave zero stars I would. My burrito had a hair in it and they didn't even offer any refund. They didn't have any spicy salsa and the owner Thomas had rude customer service. Coffee was okay but I won't be back!

I ordered breakfast through Grubhub. Never tried Tomas Cafe before, but I was looking for a trusty go to breakfast spot. Wow, did I find it! I got the cinnamon roll french toast, breakfast burrito, salmon and spinach eggs benedict, and cinnamon roll. EVERYTHING was delicious. I have never had french toast made with a cinnamon roll - what a great idea and my new favorite way to eat it. So, so good. I found my breakfast spot.

Had Breakfast here a few times. I just thought the food was ok servers were friendly. It was just a ok experience from the food and staff and found parking in the front.

The space is kinda weird, but the food is solid. My California carne burrito was HUGE! Bigger than my head. Couldn't finish it in one sitting. The chips that came with it were freshly fried, which I appreciated but there needed to be a little more of it because next to the burrito it felt like I was getting 4 chips. Good green sauce!!

This place is located in downtown Oxnard and offers public street parking as well as a public parking lot next door. Came here on a Friday morning and we ordered the chai latte, the hot chocolate, chilaquiles and Tom's French toast. The French toast was really sweet and tasted very good. The chai latte and hot chocolate were both really delicious especially with the cold weather. The chilaquiles however weren't spicy at all, the sauce was very salty and didn't have much flavor to it. The rice was over cooked and was crunchy to bite. I was very disappointed with the chilaquiles especially since I had been craving them. The server was pleasant and service was fairly fast considering there weren't many people in the restaurant. Overall this place could be a hit or miss just depending on the meal you choose. However I would recommend the French toast and hot drinks!

This has been one of my favorite breakfast spots for years. Always pretty friendly service when placing my order, food is fresh and ready quickly and I've never had a bad thing on the menu. So today when I ordered my go-to favorite, the Smoked Salmon and Baby Spinach Eggs Benedict, I was surprised that it's changed and wasn't good at all. For years here it's been prepared and served as it traditionally is most anywhere using thinly sliced pieces of cured smoked salmon that has a raw-like texture. Today, it came instead with a dry brick of a piece of unseasoned overcooked salmon. The hollandaise sauce may've saved it if it weren't completely bland. There was no salt or seasoning anywhere to be found in the dish. I don't ever add salt to my food but this was so bland I wanted to. It used to be bordering almost too salty but there was nary a salt dash to be found this time. Hopefully this was a new cook or one off mistake or they go back to the old way of preparing this. I'd never pay $18+ again for this item.

Yummm! I've heard a lot about this restaurant and finally had a chance to eat lunch here. I believe they're known for breakfast and those huge cinnamon rolls. A new food plan and lifestyle change has got me on a different path, but if I ate there 3 months or so ago, I would have stuffed my face with that cinnamon roll I ordered the hamburger (bunless)and opted for the breakfast potatoes as a side. The beef was delicious and well seasoned. My GAWD, Lord only knows what they put on those breakfast potatoes They were SO GOOD. I will definitely be back. Oh and the ambience is very nice. Nice artwork on the interior and staff were very friendly.

I got the green chilaquiles they were good but the chicken was cubed and lacked flavor. Ordered one of their smoothies/ juices and it was not good. It tasted like they mixed a bunch of random fruits together and they didn't harmonize well. I only had two sips and they threw the whole thing away, I recommend sticking to a fountain drink.

Everytime I come in and have to deal with her son, Tom it is a bad experience. He doesn't listen to me. Easily dismisses me. Never checks up on the order I'm waiting for. When women who speak Spanish come in he is very attentive. I wouldn't give them my business based on his treatment. The mom is a sweetheart.

I really don't think I recommend this business. The only upside to this place is my boyfriend really enjoys the Huevos Rancheros so if we're really craving it we'll order here. However I've never had a nice experience with the staff of the maybe 6 times I've visited. Every time they're either hanging out and talking or fiddling with their hands while I stand there patiently for I don't know how long to be acknowledged. Having worked in food service for years, I know what it's like but I never receive a, "I'll be right with you" or a "Welcome, just give me one moment." Then finally when they come up to me they either argue that I didn't place an order or I need to prove I placed an online order or they communicate with multiple people about my order that I'm staring at right in front of me. Multiple times I've tried to call in to place an order over the phone and they just answer and hang up. Then when I just give in and place my order online, paying extra fees, I come in to see an empty restaurant, relaxed staff and an argument about my food.

The food and energy at Tomas Cafe is impecable! My fiancé had the breakfast burrito and I had the breakfast sandwich that included hollandaise sauce. It was like an eggs Benedict only BETTER. The owners of the establishment are very sweet and as mentioned above, bring such good energy to the place. Their service is just unmatchable. I first tried Tomas Cafe back when I was 17 years old (I'm 36 now) and hadn't gone back since, and boy oh boy do I regret that! Definitely coming back!

The food is delicious !! The chilaquiles authentic flavor and the cinnamon roll is the best I've had !! Definitely a hearty breakfast, great value !!

Love this place! Everytime we are in Oxnard we come here. The cinnamon rolls get better everytime, they are our favs! The Chile quiles are so good and flavorful. Can't wait till the next time!

THIS PLACE OF WEIRD! We have had delivery several times and the food of great! But, today we decided to dine in. EVERYTHING is designed to make you take your order home! The tables are the round plastic folding tables with no table cloths and in a separate conference room, all condiments are in packages or in plastic to go cups. They serve you in a takeout box all put in a plastic bag.

I know their egg sandwich is one of the cheapest things on the menu but that's no excuse for such a tasteless and badly cooked item . My sandwich had a over cooked half cheese and bacon omelette with onion and tomato and all I could taste was over cooked egg .

Glad I came in for a coffee. I really liked the art and portraits that are inside. I enjoyed my hot latte and the next time I visit I will definitely give the food a try! Much love to Tomas Cafe and to Oxnard!

I just recently ate there and the food didn't have any flavor. I ordered some chilaquiles and it felt like I was eating only nachos with meat and the rice was dry and no flavor either. Also, my wife order a California burrito and it didn't have any flavor at all.

Usually Tomas Cafe is amazing the food is great! But!! Today I had the same dish I have all the time. The Jesus chilaquiles, they were disgusting! Cold and just not tasty at all. The rice that came with the meal was hard and not cooked all the way. The pancake I also had was dry and tasteless. Very disappointing as this place is usually very delicious! Only okay thing I had was the coffee.

We got to Oxnard Ca early to eat breakfast before the Salsa Festival started,this place is clean,bright with a pine oak wood out lining the decor,we were greeted warmly and the staff were very friendly,there is hanging Art work on the walls,two flat screen TV,the cleaning crew clean the table when guest leave really fast, I had one egg,and their famous Cinnamon roll this bad boy was huge,warm,soft and amazing good and was made there....we went back to take two home but they close at 2:00pm on Sat.and dark Tuesday,wifey had a breakfast burrito that had sausage,becon,pototoes,rice,beans,cheese with green sauce,also with the juice and coffee the total bill was $16.59 cheap and good is my kind of place.(No Turkey meat at all)

Pretty good breakfast & lunch spot FOR OXNARD. Free WiFi inside. Great open spaced interior with modern wood design. Best not to sit by the window, as the Cafe sits right across from the Garcia Mortuary. I'm kinda uncomfortable with that kind of people watching. I keep thinking to myself, "i see dead people"... GOOSEBUMPS!!! Here, I personally would rather be distracted by the flatscreens firing away. Friendly staff. Lots to choose from their menu, so we sampled a few... CINNAMON ROLL ($5): Pretty big serving , warm & flavorful too! CHICKEN FRIED STEAK ($10.50): Not too thick a breading, and crisp. The steak cut is somewhat smallish & thin but still pretty tasty, not chewy. The gravy was not too greasy or creamy and complemented the steak well. Scrambled egg whites were not overly greasy. Perfectly crisped hash browns. ROBERT'S N.Y. STEAK & EGGS($13.50): 8oz. N.Y. Choicesteak and 2 eggs. Had egg whites for $1 extra. Steak was a little chewy but good flavor. CLASSIC BELGIAN WAFFLE ($6): Dense & doughy, no crispness to outer shell, fruit toppings are fresh, though, for a $1 extra. LUNCH SANDWICH SPECIAL ($8): Had cream of broccoli soup with Chicken salad sandwich. 1/2 sammie with toasted bread was delicious. Soup was not as creamy as was hoping, but still had good flavor to it. Decent Oxnard destination for lunch and breakfast. Didn't wait long for food to arrive. Service was attentive. Nothing to complain about here. Everything was A-OK.

I can't believe that I never bothered to drive down this side of A Street. I normally go to BGs for brunch so I decided to finally visit this spot. It looks like I've been missing out. Started with their famous cinnamon roll with a latte. Good grief that was wicked delicious. The latte was perfection and that cinnamon roll....just wow. I'm on a quest to try chilaquiles at all the breakfast spots in town so that's what I ordered. I got it with the green salsa. It was honestly THE best chilaquiles I've ever had. Got it with eggs over easy. The rice that comes with it is something else. My niece loved her order of chicken strips. I took a bite of it and it did in fact taste yummy as she had said. Great staff. All the people who came to our area were super friendly and accomodating. If I could, I'd live here.

Today my boss treated me to a birthday lunch @Tomas Cafe. I've always heard about this hidden gem located in downtown Oxnard... But being that it is kind of away from the freeway and deep in the city, I never really found myself in this area..but today was my lucky day! From the outside, the building looks like an old pueblo, which goes with the culture and vibe once your inside the restaurant. The decor is pretty warm and inviting. To the left of the main restaurant, they have a huge banquet room, so if you are planning a small party check this place out. The main restaurant area is pretty average sized so I can see how and why on weekends this place can easily get packed. They have a breakfast menu with multiple options and also a decent lunch menu that includes the common salad, sandwich and burgers. But the breakfast menu is where it's at! What caught our eyes today was the NUTELLA French toast and RED VELVET pancakes! Yum!!! Order these as a combo plate which includes 2 eggs (any style) and either 4 pieces of sausage links or bacon. The sausage link actually taste decent. In the photo posted, the red velvet pancakes is just the half order and I was stuffed with left orders. All in all the food was delicious and reasonably priced. There's a lot of different items to choose from and therefore anyone palate can easily be satisfied. *Only downfall from today's visit was when I got my iced water, there was a piece of plastic in my water. I think it might have been from the ice bag? But still.. Kinda gross. Other than that mishap, our visit today was fine. Note: if you have a groupon or coupon from restaurant.com, make sure to mention that when you order...because they need to call that coupon in order to redeem it. Support small business & give this place a try!

Everything here is freshly made and so delicious. Portion size is perfect. Oh! They made us FRESH orange juice and the cinnamon roll is to die for. The burger was amazing too! Thank you Tomas Cafe. Will bedefinitely be coming back!
