Serving since 1952, Tommy’s is a cornerstone of Columbus‑style: ultra‑thin, square‑cut, loaded to the edges. After closing the OSU shop in 2024, the tradition continues at Upper Arlington and Dublin, as reported by local news, with the same family ownership.

We visited Tommy's because I saw an article last year that said Tommy's was the best Columbus Tavern style pizza. Holy smokes it was so good. The crust was delicious and so crunchy. There were even air bubbles in the bottom of crust that led to the perfect crunch. The sauce was excellent and the toppings were high quality. The pizzas were cooked perfectly and I couldn't get enough. I will also say that the homemade meatballs were excellent and the homemade Italian dressing was really great! The dining room was dirty and in disrepair but the pizza was so good that we didn't care. I definitely recommend Tommy's, anytime you are in Columbus.

This pizza place’s food impressed me so much. I came here for lunch and they served lunch specials with subs and salads. I ordered the meatball sub with garden salad. The price and size were amazing. The salad tasted fresh with honey mustard. There were a lot of black olives which I was afraid of, but their olives were not extremely sour at all. The meatball sub was juicy with decent cheese and baked bread. Their pizza also looked great. I heard the pleasant cracking sound of cutting pizzas in the kitchen. The dining room was not large and packed during lunch time and there was only one server, however, she was attentive and friendly, and the food came out really fast. WiFi was not available.

I'm a long time customer and have enjoyed Tommy's pizza for years. Literally from my childhood to now enjoying the food with children of my own. The food is great and always has been. Unfortunately, due to the rudeness of the staff interacting with customers, including the security guard (over several interactions in a row), I will be taking a break from ordering here. Long story short. If you get Tommy's, order delivery, expect delays, and tip very well. Your delivery driver deserves it for having to deal with this atmosphere.

Been coming back since our OSU days in the early 90's, even though we live out of town. The thin, layered cracker crust is legendary, the sauce is just right and the toppings are generous. Must be doing something right to stay in business over 70 years!

Buyer beware - know the protocol or get thrown out!!!!! Went on an early date night with my wife after a Drs appointment in the area, was trying to get there the week before based upon ‘el presidentes review. Wife said we had went there a long time ago, and I didn’t remember (should have been the first sign) It was 3:30 on a Friday afternoon and the parking lot was near empty. Parked and when we go to the door I asked my wife if they were closed even though the times said it should be open. Walked in and ordered the pizza at the counter - finished order without asking for drink signed receipt and tip and said we would like a drink. Bought 2 drinks and sat down after was told it would be 20 minutes. Pizza came in cardboard- did not even think about it- took to seats - went back and asked for plates and napkins as there were none on the table. Started to eat and sheriff came to table and informed me that we could eat the pizza, but not there. HUH- It appears I did not know the protocol for ordering to dine it, still not sure - think I was to order from the table. No explanation- was told to leave, I had to eat my pizza elsewhere. OHH and it gets better, The place actually looks like they gave up some time ago - dark, dingy, seats torn on the banquets style seating. They must have sooo much business that they really stopped caring some time ago, as this dive joint is just that, a dive. Called in to complain and figure out why I was thrown out by the “on duty” sheriff, and asked for a manager (Rachael- found out her name later) answered and said she was one of manager - asked for her name and before before announcing it choose to hang up on me. Called back in immediately and asked for the manager, and was told no managers were available until after 9. Called back in after 9, and Rachael answered again, asked for manager, which she then said she was. Asked for her name and she gave it to me. I told her I did not appreciate her hanging up on me earlier, to which she did not deny. She said that the reason “I was asked to leave” - I confirmed again I was thrown out by the sheriff, was that I ordered “to go”. She said the GM was at the counter when I ordered, I asked if she meant the woman behind the counter eating with her fingers in a public area. I did see the guy at the register cashing out what must have been a waitress, which at the time I thought was a driver getting their tips. Obviously I was wrong. I am sure that this is all my fault for coming into a pizza shop to order pizza and then sitting down to eat it. Had I known there were waitresses and service I would have preferred that to counter service with the expectation of a tip on the receipt. Wife commented on the way home that Massey’s is better. Oh well.

Google
Ordered online . Tracker says order was ready for pick up. It was not . Email stated order was going to be ready at a different time. Was not allowed to wait inside . Very stern Sheriff made us wait in our car . Order was promised at a certain time and it was late . The employees were rude and less than desirable. I get it - the holidays but proper customer service still applies . I love this pizza but … don’t expect another order from us .

Natalie H.

Google
I called the place the phone order and was told to pick up my pizza in 25 minutes so I showed up 35 minutes after I placed the order thinking that was enough extra time. Got here paid for my food then was told oh by the way, it’s gonna be another 20 minutes that you’re gonna have to wait so I stood silently in the restaurant up against the pole minding my own business waiting for my pizza to get done only to be kicked out by the sheriff in the lobby because my food was taking too long it’s Ohio and it’s 35° outside but sure I’ll go sit in my car because you can’t bother to tell me what time is correct for me to pick up my pizza $55 that I won’t spend again because I will never come back here again and I’ve been a loyal customer of this place for over 25 years

Kat

Google
This is my favorite pizza but somebody didn't do it right this time. Instead of the crust being crispy, it was soggy with grease and the box was soaked with grease. The crust usually has a cracker-like crust, but it was flat as a crepe tonight! Drove all the way across town for this? We've been getting Tommy's pizza for over 40 years and I hope whoever is making this new dough finds another job!

Yelp
Visiting Columbus for a conference, staying downtown. Too tired after the event ended on Friday to leave the hotel. Found Tommy's in a list of best Columbus style pizza, and they were one of the few options that offered delivery (ended up being via DoorDash). Was worried about reviews we found here after ordering, but ended up very happy. From order to arrival at hotel took around 45 minutes (had been estimated to be up to 70 minute wait). Pizza was still warm when it arrived, and it was delicious. Love the flaky thin crust. Toppings were plentiful. Lightly sauced (if you prefer more sauce, add extra when you build your pizza order). We're crust dippers, so we added on a side of bleu cheese. Not sure if they make it in house or if it's a local brand, but it was one of the best bleu cheese dressings I've had. Glad we found Tommy's and gave it a try. Definitely recommend giving them a try when you're in town.

Yelp
Heard of Tommy's pizza & stayed in a nearby hotel so felt it was a great opportunity to check it out. Many customers seemed to purchase pizzas so perhaps that would be a great choice. Tried lasagna and chicken Parmesan. Both had Abundant portions! Garlic bread and cheesy garlic bread were warm. Difficult to judge customer service but online ordering was easy and the pick up process was easy,

Yelp
So great! We ordered takeout and it was promptly ready. Can't go wrong with the pepperoni pizza.

Yelp
Very attentive service and delicious Italian Submarine sandwich! The ambience of this restaurant hasn't changed in years!! Our friend orders pizza so lunch was amazing!
google avatar

Andrew B.

Yelp
The pizza was amazing as usual. This location was new to me and yet very comfortable. I love the old fashioned look of this place. The service was very nice. Our server kept checking on us for refill on our drinks and to see how our pizza was. I'm most definitely coming back!

Dale M.

Yelp
Tommy's pizza is one of the greatest places to dine on a Friday or a Saturday evening . Their food is always prepared, excellently and always has great taste and great flavor. I love dining there and often take my family. Make sure that you try out Tommy's pizza. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Daniel T.

Yelp
Did you know Tommy's likes to steal? They're actually criminals!! How fun?! I ordered a quart of blue cheese. When they gave it to me I knew it was light but they assured me it was a quart, when I measured it at home it was less than a half quart. I called them to tell them about the mistake and they hung up on me and stopped answering. When I went to the store I asked them for either a refund or a full quart of blue cheese. They refused to give me a refund and said that's that's their quart container. I didn't order a quart container with however much blue cheese they decide to give me. I ordered a quart of blue cheese and paid 13.50 for it. I left their employees 1.50 tip FOR BLUE CHEESE. And they pull this. Classless and criminal

Anthony P.

Yelp
My opinion, best pizza in Ohio. Best pizza I've ever had. If you like crunchy crust, it's crunchy all the way to the centerpieces quality toppings.

Yelp
Danggg based on reviews, you either love or hate this place. I am disappointed in you, Columbus Yelpers! Tommy's Pizza is the campus pizza experience! Many moons ago, typically whilst intoxicated or hungover, I would eat Tommy's with coworkers. I moved back to Columbus and rolled in - still just as good as I remembered! It's not gourmet, it's your classic campus locally-owned pizza shop. No frills and delicious! Even sober ;)

Lue T.

Yelp
Pizza was amazing! Brought back memories of days past when Tommy's Pizza was in business on Hamilton Rd back in the day! Miss them terribly! Wish there were more locations throughout Columbus

Philip N.

Yelp
Ordered pizza tonight. We are in Columbus for the night. We are all tired and hungry. You CANCELLED our order then did NOTHING to fix it. Horrible service. AVOID

Daniel D.

Yelp
Terrible experience. Waited over 90 minutes for delivery. Pizza was cold. When we called to ask about the delivery status the lady who answered the phone was rude and surly even before we could ask a question. We understand busy Friday nights but this seemed beyond the pale. We gave an extra tip to our poor delivery driver who had to wait over an hour

I D.

Yelp
I hate driving far to a place, picking up food, get home to find it overcooked and poor Quality. For a refund they expect me to drive another 45 minutes to get my $18+tip back in rush hour.. gas prices etc... and I grabbed it in my LUNCH BREAK MEMO, cook food like the customer is THERE, STOP BURNING IT, KNOWING IT IS MEDIOCRE and still giving to customer. Not okay. Will dispute with bank to save the trip.

Derek S.

Yelp
I was visiting the hospital down the road and ordered pizzas for everyone. As it has been since my first visit in 1988, it was great. No one else had tried it before and they loved it. Only knock was the building does need some desperate updates. The service was great on my to go order.

Joe D.

Yelp
I think Tommy's pizza snd Italian subs are the best in town. I wish they had inside dining open later i went there on a Friday at 9:25pm following an OSU hockey game. They were open only for takeout orders. All inside ding area were closed. They advertise being open to 10pm or 11pm. They should make it clear that the dining room closes much earlier.

Don E.

Yelp
Went there today at 3 p.m. and the door was locked. Sign said they were open at 11. ???

Yelp
Visiting Ohio and love the Midwest pizza- That cracker crust and cheese for days is what my pizza dreams are made of. All photos and many comments led me to believe that's what Tommy's was offering and I couldn't wait! I ordered online and walked from my hotel to pick it up. My cheese pizza had a few pepperoni on it-- which renders those piece inedible for us. The pizza, which had been sitting on a table in the restaurant, was congealed and had slid around the box enough to be smashed up on part. Staff were abrupt and neither friendly nor dismissive. The taste was mediocre. Quality was poor. And it all just felt really unattended to and like there's no care for the product they're feeding people.

Yelp
Today was my second time trying Tommy's Pizza and I reallyyyyy wanted to love it, but I thought it was just okay. When I called to order they said they no longer have appetizers which stinks because their mozzarella balls which I've had in the past were so good - hopefully they put those back on the menu. I ordered my pizza well done, but it felt a little undercooked and doughy. I wish there was more sauce, too, and it was way too salty. BUT, on a major positive note, they were very generous with their toppings. Overall, I thought it was a bit disappointing.

Yelp
Loved the pizza it was phenomenal Krispy Krust with lots of toppings. Was up there for a basketball game at Ohio State and very close proximity to the arena. Not a big place but the food is outstanding, give it a try

Kharis T.

Yelp
If I could rate this place 100 stars I wouldn't family and I LOVE Tommy's pizza it's amazing and the people are so sweet and the atmosphere is fantastic too. HIGHLY recommend Tommy's!
google avatar

Richard T.

Yelp
The best pizza in town! Pricey but worth it, especially if you like it well done. The crust is unbeatable. Service is usually pretty efficient too.

Joseph M.

Yelp
Your online ordering system told me to be here at a specific time. I then got a text message telling me that my order is ready. When I got here, I was told 20 more minutes and my order hasn't even been started. I drove 20 minutes to get here, this is unacceptable. I don't mind if it takes longer to make something, but don't use a system that has me waiting in your restaurant for 20 extra minutes. Also - an apology is much better than an excuse. Never coming here again, the pizza is good, it's not good enough to overcome bad service though.

Yelp
Tommy's is one of the iconic Columbus pizza places. It's been on Lane Avenue at several locations forever. This might be the "classiest" of the locations. It's pretty close to lots of OSU attractions. This is the busiest during the football season. It has similarities to local rivals like Donatos and Iacano's. Just in case you didn't know, Tommy Iacano opened this place. They specialize in a cracker thin crust, which is popular for some reason. It's not my kind of pizza. Luckily they have good subs. Inside it looks pretty old looking and has been there forever. It has several dining areas inside. There's a private area that's good for parties. It has a pretty standard pizza and sub menu. They also have beer on tap. It's not much of a selection, but you have a few choices. There's Bud Light, CBC, and Molson. It's about $3 a pint. It comes in a plastic mug. This feels kind of cheap, but it adds to the charm. I had a vegetable sub. It's about $7 for the full size. This comes with cheese that I left off, Italian dressing, mushrooms, peppers, and tomatoes. It's more family friendly compared to the location closer to campus. It's still a good option for a game day meal. This has a ridiculously cramped parking lot and it's hard to get out.

Yelp
Tommy's always delivers! Of course we picked up two pizzas and they stayed hot until we got home! The crust was firm as I like it, lots of pepperoni! We also had a small cheese and it was perfect! Not a fan of indoor dining at Tommy's but the take out was great!
google avatar

Sue D.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Tommy's and it did not disappoint! Got a large half pepperoni pizza and a spaghetti and meatballs dinner for take out this past Friday after work. Was a nice touch that they text when your order is ready. The pizza was so good!! The crust was a perfect cracker crust and the little Peps were delicious. The spaghetti and meatballs were really tasty as well! Took me back to my favorite Youngstown pasta memories. I will definatly be returning to try more menu items!

Lynnsey B.

Yelp
They refused to serve us and were so rude. We came in at 2:00 pm with 12 people. The employee told us that they could not take a group of 12 even though we could see many empty tables. No problem, you can split us up. We can do 6 and 6 or 4, 4, and 4. The employee said no and they would not seat any of us. They refused to serve us. When questioned we were told it is their policy to not split groups. The employee told us that another location was open nearby and we should go there. We looked online and they were closed, so we told the lady and asked again to be seated. She still refused to serve us and told us to leave.

Bob G.

Yelp
I have been buying pizza from Tommy's for over 50 years. It is so sad to see what the younger generation of Iaconos have done to this business. The service and treatment of customers is deplorable. Tommy's has such a solid following but the family doesn't care. Go elsewhere for pizza.
google avatar

Todd C.

Yelp
Love Tommy's. Been going there for years and always good food and service. The lane avenue one is the best.

Wiliam W.

Yelp
Only giving this a 2 star because the pizza was decent. Unfortunately someone in the back was singing at the top of her lungs over everyone while we are trying to eat and it was insane ... she wouldn't shut up .. just singing song after song .. even smarter one of the guys told her she was being loud and rude .... Also the place was a disaster.. you had to walk through a pig pen to get to the steps of a bathroom that was all the Way downstairs .. smells like piss .. and when I got home I had the shits all Night

Tim M.

Yelp
I have suffered the absolutely horrible customer service at the UA store for over 3 years. The staff truly does not care about the customer. The events of this past week have put them on my never again list. I went online (because they won't answer the phone - or if they do, they tell you to order online on a website that only accepts payments sometimes) at 4:00 to order a pepperoni pizza for pick-up at 5:00 since I had an errand first. I got three text replies that my pizza would be ready at 5:10, 4:55, and then was texted at 4:29 that my pizza was ready pick-up. Obviously it's their schedule that counts - not mine. By the time I arrived to pick-up my pizza that had been sitting on a table in the dining room for over 20 minutes, it was cold - and wrong. I will not continue to support the sort of abusive customer service - even if the pizza is decent.

Dee S.

Yelp
Ordered a Tommy's Pizza today - it had been a while. I was shocked when I ordered a small "works" pizza and it cost me $21.50!! Again, this was a small pizza. After paying that much for a pizza I could hardly enjoy it. I pay $16.10 for a Tammy's "works", $13.24 for Grandad "works". and $15.75 for Teritas -all small pizzas. These establishments provide really good pizzas for the price so I have learned my lesson. Never again will I pay that much for a small pizza at Tommy's. Don't get me wrong - Tommy's pizza is good but not worth that high price when there are other good pizza choices in Columbus Ohio. By the way, the service was great!!
google avatar

Darin A.

Yelp
Great pizza , best ever. Always on top . Not one pizza place establishment can touch Tommy's! Masseys no, Danatoes no? The greatest ever
google avatar

Kimberly N.

Yelp
Do not eat at Tommy's Pizza‼ I ordered a salad to-go for my breakfast/lunch/dinner because I have a jam-packed schedule today and wont be home til late tonight.....I thought a big salad would be a great choice to get me through my day. I don't frequent Tommy's Pizza, and I actually haven't gone there in years. Its close to my store so I figured I would support local. After eating 2 bites of the chicken on it, I noticed it was quite pink. My Assistant Manager told me I should call them and let them know. When I called the person I spoke with said that I should let the manager know because they had lots of problems in the kitchen recently. But after speaking with the manager basically all I got was an apology. My Assistant was not OK with that so she actually took the salad back to the pizza shop to show them, and asked for a refund (of which I only recieved $2 back) Just over here hoping I dont get sick. After closer inspection the chicken is actually raw.

Lainie Z.

Yelp
Sub par pizza was delivered, items were missing. Never again. Paid entirely too much for what I got and the service after the fact.
google avatar

Thomas R.

Yelp
Got two well made pies. Believe the quality is back to preCovid standards. Still could use some training in customer relations
google avatar

Alaina R.

Yelp
This specific Tommy's location is of the best pizza places in Columbus. The pizza crust is so delicious and flakey and the pepperonis are baked to perfection. The staff is always so friendly and although it is take out only right now, it has a friendly and homey atmosphere. Can not recommend Tommy's pizza enough!
google avatar

Catharine P.

Yelp
This is one of the best pizzas places ever. Don't be turned away because of the outside appearance or the lack of updates. This place hasn't changed in years, literally for the last 17 years it has stayed the same. I am currently living in Chicago and every time I am in the Columbus area, I stop in here and get food - often extra to take home to my family. Although all the food is good, the pizza is the best. I usually order the pepperoni pizza because the pepperoni gets crispy and brings out more flavor. In addition, they have some amazing housemade ranch dressing. This pairs perfectly with their salads, pizza, basically everything. So don't be afraid to stop in and try this place. The service is alright, but the food makes up for it.
google avatar

Melinda H.

Yelp
We ordered Tommy's Pizza from Upper Arlington tonight based on the reviews. It was NOT EDIBLE!!! The most disgusting pizza we have ever had. It was WAY too greasy, the crust tasted stale, and gave all of us physical ailments. I don't know if they had a bad night with cooking or if this is the way it is normally. We will NOT be ordering from Tommy's Pizza again
google avatar

Michael P.

Yelp
This place has terrible terrible terrible customer service for that reason alone I won't be giving them my money. I called the other day at 5:45 PM, which was on a random Wednesday evening to order a pizza and was placed on hold for over six minutes. Nobody came to the phone nobody cared, so I hung up on them and went to granddad's pizza in Grandview. The truth is that Tommy's couldn't care less about whether you order from them or not. Their employees are disgruntled and that is a business that does not care about growing or customer service. I refuse to give them my hard-earned money in the future if they're going to treat customers like that.
google avatar

Steve D.

Yelp
This "Columbus institution" has gone terribly downhill the last five years or so. The staff are VERY rude, the pizza is subpart, and the waiting times are outrageous. We were told one hour, and they are currently "running behind", making my wait time two hours. I am, quite simply, sick of giving this place a chance. Clearly, ownership has just stopped caring is riding on name-recognition alone.

Shonda W.

Yelp
I have been ordering pizza and subs from here for over 30 years. It was my favorite but last few orders have been subpar. I decided to try one more time and ordered a large pepperoni pizza. The pizza had pepperoni on it but some pieces of pizza had none and it was all in clumps and well done but the pizza wasn't. It was all laying on top of the pizza like it was added after cooking a cheese pizza and forgot it was supposed to have pepperoni and threw some well done baked pepperoni on top. It was also cold. Also the box had someone else's name on it and it was scratched out and mine was added.
google avatar

Tim Y.

Yelp
Very good, very straightforward thin crust pizza. The pepperoni has a great flavor and the cheese mixes with the sauce to create a nice bite. We also ordered jalapeno poppers and an Italian sub. The poppers were very good, like best from a pizza place good. Good crisp bite with nice balanced flavor. The sub was basic no frills which is just what you're looking for in a sub. Good amount of meat and toppings, good bread, baked to a perfect consistency. They've been around a long time for a reason and deserve a shot. Several locations all the same quality.
google avatar

Jim D.

Yelp
Where to start? This once iconic Columbus restaurant is sadly a mere shadow of what it once was. The dining room is disheveled, run-down and dirty, the staff is smug, slow and, and generally inattentive, and the pizza was greasy and soggy. All this after being told to wait in our car until they'd text us to let us know when it was safe to enter. Wishing we had driven elsewhere! After 45 years as a loyal customer, you've lost me. Tommy would be horrified!
google avatar

Megan T.

Yelp
Every time I am in Columbus, I have to stop in to Tommy's. It's a MUST! We get the same thing every time we come...a small order of fries as an appetizer with a side of ranch and a large pepperoni pizza. The pizza is thin crust (similar to Donatos) and oh-so-delicious! It is hot and fresh every time and don't forget the ranch! On game days it can get pretty crowded but most of the time you can find a seat easily. It's a staple pizza place on campus. Nothing fancy about the restaurant and it is family friendly. Go for the pizza and don't even waste your time looking at the rest of the menu!
google avatar

Angel B.

Yelp
Great cracker crust pizza. Sometimes it takes a while to get the pizza because of how popular it is but it's worth the wait. Two locations. One on Lane didn't have seating when I was there back in March 2022
google avatar

Jane S.

Yelp
I am sad to say my favorite Tommy's is getting consistently stingy with toppings. We eat there at least once a month, and it's around 15-18 miles for us. Last several times there were pieces with only sauce. What is going on here? The flavor is still outstanding but we want cheese, pep, mushrooms on all of the pieces, not just 75%. Are they cutting costs and sacrificing quality? Disappointed.
google avatar

Rhonda H.

Yelp
My favorite pizza back in the day. Loved the pizza and how heavy it was with toppings. but this time, the crust was somewhat soggy (may have been crispy at some point). But I will return.
google avatar

Everett S.

Yelp
I would come here years ago when I was a student when this was pretty good. Now I waited 20min for a very subpar pizza. Lacked cheese, sauce and a waste of time and definitely doesn't represent columbus pizza. Too bad Tommy's use to be good choice. If your pizza looks like this when you open it, you should be disappointed. Not going back here

Michelle D.

Yelp
Very rude staff. Placed an order at 930pm online where it stated they take online orders until 945. After submitting the order, we received an alert stating the order could not be completed. We attempted to call x2 with no answer. After calling, we checked the online hours where it stated they were open until 10. We then drove and arrived at 940. Numerous staff were in the restaurant with the door locked. Plastered on their door were their holiday hours clearly stating they closed at 10pm on Thursday. We made eye contact with a few of the staff but they ignored us. One staff came to the door and spoke through the glass (didn't even open the door) "we aren't taking anymore orders" then walked away. What's the point of stating hours if you won't respect it.
