Village Square Now Has Noodles, Dumplings, and Boba | Eater Vegas

"Opened as a new, larger Asian-inspired noodle-and-dumpling concept anchoring a westside Village Square corner, this counter-service spot pairs an industrial ceiling and inventive murals—manga-inspired artwork, graffiti touches, and a neon sign reading “give me liberTEA or give me death”—with seating that lets diners sit facing an open kitchen and watch the cooking. Appetizers emphasize dumplings (chicken soup, spicy salmon, and classic pork & shrimp gyoza) along with skewers, edamame hummus, and spicy garlic green beans. Ramen bowls (about $10–$11) include tonkotsu, shoyu ginger chicken, and the house signature made with pork belly and chicken thighs; the menu also features sandwiches and indulgent desserts such as fish-shaped taiyaki, fried Oreos, and a $5 tres leches honey toast. A separate counter-service tea/boba setup operates inside for beverage pairings." - Bradley Martin

Google
After seeing a matinee at the outlet we walked out to pouring rain and into this lovely ramen place where we placed an order of ramen, we got the fried rice and steam dumplings along with the shoyu ginger ramen. The guy at the front was so delightful and the food was ready quickly. We dashed home and began eating the delicious food. I can’t wait to go back!!!!!!

Paul N.

Google
Food is over the top. Atmosphere very casual "fast foodish". Ordered the fries just for the heck of it and OMG, they were incredible and a huge portion as well. I ordered the house ramen, which was exceptional, best I've ever had. I forget what my wife ordered, but she is normally very picky and she loved what she got. I normally don't post after a meal just because you kind of expect a decent meal all the time , but Tomo is above beyond.....

Tony H.

Google
It was just the two of us. We had two bowls of ramen and some beans — tasty and reasonably priced. The place was rather quiet, likely because the outlet wasn’t very busy.

Tinh T.

Google
Tomo Ramen noodles are very delicious, especially the broth. However, the amount of broth is a bit little compared to the noodles, so it feels too thick.

Stayce

Google
There is no flavor in the broth. The crispy wontons where very good, but not the ramen. I'm curious as to why this place is still open. No matter how much sriracha you put, it doesn't do it justice. The dumplings came out almost cold, it's like the people coming do not care. It only makes me wonder...

Happy G.

Google
Great service. Food was less than meh. The rice for the chicken bowl was just gross. Literally, how do you ruin rice? Hard pass for next visit to the outlets.

Google
We had a Tonkotsu ramen and salmon rice bowl! Very tasty and served in a quickly time manner

Google
Everything is amazing, service, staff quality, proportions, value. Travel 4 hours to come here and it’s always worth it.

Yelp
After a full day at the pickleball tourney in San Clemente, I was looking for a good dinner. I found Tomo Noodles and Dumplings located at the Outlets at San Clemente and thought I give them a try. I came here about 15 or 30 mins before their closing time. Upon entry, I noticed a huge wall with some neat art which was nice. They have good amount of seating along the wall. I wanted to try their noodles and dumplings. The gentleman behind the counter informed me that they were getting ready to close so nothing was available except for a couple items. I ended up leaving. I really wanted to try their noodles and dumplings so I returned here the next evening. Same thing happened again, but this time I was here about one hour prior to closing. The same gentleman from the day before informed me that they either ran out of the noodles and dumplings or they just stopped selling them one hour before closing time which doesn't makes sense to me. They only had rice bowls left at the time... such a bummer! This time around I didn't leave. I ended up getting the chicken rice bowl. It tasted just okay. Nothing special about it. My overall experience was not the greatest. If their specialty are noodles and dumplings, you would think they should have them available for purchase up to closing time. I originally wanted to give them a 2 stars, but since the gentleman did give me a discount on my chicken rice bowl for the inconvenience, I bumped it up to 3 stars. Will I be back? Probably not.

Yelp
Fresh food and the dishes actually look like what the pictures show. This is where I will go when I want fresh and healthy, flavorful food. The fire chicken was perfect - not too spicy, but just right. Dumplings were good. Salmon bowl was perfect.
google avatar

Brian Q.

Yelp
We decided to check this spot out since there aren't a ton of food options in the outlets area. Most of us wanted to try their chicken katsu sandwich, but the guy said they only had one more bun left, so we were only able to get one. The katsu bowls instead were still pretty good. The food isn't too pricey, but the portions also aren't that big.
google avatar

Crystal C.

Yelp
Ok I didn't have any food here, I went strictly for the drinks and by far this is the best milk bobba I have ever had. I will definitely just come back for that, and I will try the food next time.
google avatar

Suzanne C.

Yelp
We have never been to the outlets before. On the way home, we decided at try this place and have a bite. So happy that we did! We shared the katsu chicken sandwich with fries. It was just delicious! And a bargain for only $10. A total splitter. The man at the register was so pleasant. We shall be back.

Yelp
Everything I've ever had to eat here is just so salty not going to lie!!! If you like food you can't taste anything but salt this is your place but if you like to taste your food go elsewhere!!!! Bottom of the barrel place for Ramen or anything on there menu in San Clemente to be honest!!! There's great places to eat in San Clemente but I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy!!!!
google avatar

Jamezya P.

Yelp
The worst ramen broth I've ever had in my life. The noodles were sub par. Staff was nice and friendly. Drinks were ok. Location was nice and spacious. Ac on a hot day.
google avatar

Mark C.

Yelp
Jonathan and his team at this location are top notch. The food was great with good prices but the service from the staff was the best! One of our favorite places to eat in San Clemente and plenty of seating so it's not super crowded. The staff was awesome with our kids, too!
google avatar

Anna and Matt G.

Yelp
We had a very pleasant meal here. One of the workers was super cool and good vibes. We'd come again. We had the chicken ginger ramen and the salmon bowl.

Wendy R.

Yelp
Less than meh. I wish we skipped this place. And, the rice was gross in the chicken bowl. How do you ruin rice? Pass.
google avatar

Ashh H.

Yelp
The food here is delicious. The cook John was super friendly and took the time to explain how he prepares the meals. We specifically ordered the katsu bowl and the chicken was absolutely divine. It's the perfect amount of crispy while still being juicy and tender inside. The rice was cooked to perfection and the veggies were crunchy and fresh. We ended up coming back for seconds. Hands down one of the best places that I've ate at.

Justin Carmelo R.

Yelp
Very good food! and large serving!!! Service was top notch!!! Even though we came in little close to closing time Jonathan accommodate us with great service and took care of us!!! Compliments to the kitchen!!! Excellent Food!!! The ambience of the restaurant was nice!!! Nice wall arts!!!
google avatar

Becky M.

Yelp
5 Stars all the way! Delicious vegetarian Ramen and fried green beans! Service friendly and helpful! Great lunch break while shopping, we'll be back!
google avatar

Ann H.

Yelp
Shopping worked up an appetite so we stopped in for a snack and got 2 orders of steamed dumplings (chicken and pork). The workers were friendly and the order came out quick, however the dumplings themselves were only ok... I make better ones at home from Costco Ling Ling. There wasn't anything quite wrong with them except they were more like steamed potstickers (not dumplings) and they stuck to the paper inside the bowl.

Julie P.

Yelp
The best chicken sandwich I have ever eaten ! Had a Thai Tea with it so yummy ! The gentleman at the front was very friendly hospitable , made me feel welcomed ! The restaurant was very clean ! Will definitely be back can't wait to try the fried green beans and the pork chasu, thank you !
google avatar

Gauravi P.

Yelp
Unfortunately, the dumplings we ordered were subpar. It felt like we paid for frozen dumplings from the Asian supermarket to be defrosted and prettied up. And, keeping in mind the dumplings were just ok- you are of course only given about 3 dumplings per order! The whole food experience was just sad. And honestly, the "chefs" behind the kitchen counter knew it too. The cashier/server was really friendly though and made the overall experience better. So that was a plus!
google avatar

Elle K.

Yelp
Friendly service. Spacious both indoors and outdoors (seating). The menu is outdated though. Apparently, the shoyu egg is not standard in the Tonkotsu Ramen. I asked about it, so they honored it and supplied the egg after the fact. The portion is much smaller than other ramen places. They were completely out of all bottled pressed juices. The ramen (broth and ingredients) was fair. I think it's a good quick choice on a chilly evening. Happy eating!
google avatar

Tara H.

Yelp
Brief yet great experience here! Stopped in for a little lunch. I didn't order much but was treated very kindly by the gentleman in the front. The chicken dumplings were great and came with a sauce (soy sauce like) and a spicy sauce as I requested. Deserved a great review!

Jaafar A.

Yelp
I had a very nice experience, Johnathan was very welcoming and the food was delicious. The chicken katsu sandwich was crispy and flavorful, they catered it to my liking by putting the sauce on the side, and the fries were so good. The pork dumplings were tasty, it was very fresh with a unique flavor, but very good!! Great place will definitely go back!
google avatar

Rosie R.

Yelp
all of us loved it! She had shoyu ginger chicken last drop of broth was amazing salmon with rice also a hit definitely worth to come back and bring family the costumer service very friendly the owner was funny and patient with my girl ordering, especially surprising since she has a stutter disorder and she normally stutters but not once did she with him!

Jezzejames V.

Yelp
This is a sad place to dine especially when they limit their menus until 6 pm because the employees were eager to go home. There's not much food restaurants around and you end up leaving because theres nothing to offer. Why opened up a business if your limited to your choice of menu? Same as Pokémon bowl. They need to change their policies- its only food.
google avatar

Marnie A.

Yelp
Ramen was nice and hot, service was friendly and fast. Will come back to check/try out the rest of their menu. Definitely hit our lunch craving.

Jessica V.

Yelp
The picture does not do this justice. It was so good that even my picky daughter loved it. Customer service was great too. Will definitely be getting this again. "Mom can we get this next time we come again. It was the best" - My daughter

SydForFitness S.

Yelp
We came in for dinner and 2/3 of the menu wasn't available. The staff is short with you. We were the only customers there and clearly chose a table outside, yet the staff chose to leave our hot food at the front counter and not let us know it was ready. The tables outside had bird poop on them. The food tastes like frozen/reheated bowls from Costco. Don't waste your time here. Let's open up something that actually offers real food!

Susan B.

Yelp
Loved the food, especially the Ramen'! The amazing service by Jamie! And the place was super clean!!
google avatar

Alina L.

Yelp
I'm shock how their customer service here on a slow day cashier no sense of urgency not willing to go above and beyond we've worked in restaurants as well but we do smile and act as if we love our job and give good customer service we stood at the register for 18 mins. 3 workers on the floor after we order they say no rice available ?? No system or common sense to bring it to our table since there's only 3 tables seated we waited not knowing what workers seems not friendly ramen is cold nothing special we left knowing it's in the outlet.
google avatar

Glenn A.

Yelp
We decided to have lunch here after shopping at the outlet. What a big mistake! The food was mediocre. I ordered the chicken katsu plate and I was really disappointed. It basically tasted like cooked chicken with a bunch sauce poured over it. No taste at all. A couple who was seated next to us also ordered the same thing, I saw a disappointed look on their face as they tasted their food. For drinks, we ordered the pineapple mojito but looked nothing like the picture. It was not even yellow in color. It looked like a regular ice tea but didn't taste like it. I had no clue what is it. Service was slow. It took about 20 minutes just to get our food. To top all off, they forgot to give us the pineapple mojito until I asked for it. The staff which consisted of high school/college kids were not very enthusiastic and not friendly at all. It seemed like they were not happy with their jobs by the look on their faces. I would definitely not recommend this place.
google avatar

Ted M.

Yelp
Great service and great food. Went to the San Clemente outlet yesterday and my daughter told us that we should try this place. So glad we did. The people that worked there were all very pleasant and the service was fast. We got a chicken katsu sandwich and some pork and chicken dumplings and tempura green beans. The food was delicious and whenever we're at the outlet stores, we will make sure to stop there again.
google avatar

Yumi M.

Yelp
So the fries were amazing probably going to be one of my best fries forever to order from this place.. The Ramen was okay. I just wished the ramen could've had more flavor to and the Edamame. The place is amazing and definitely will go back! The service was amazing and I must say the ladies there were nice and I thank you for working on Memorial Day!
google avatar

Chase G.

Yelp
The Tonkotsu Ramen was a great choice. Pork really stood out. Perfect sear on the outside, and super tender/melting inside. Anyone complaining about a smell clearly hasn't been to legitimate ramen places. The location is very clean, lots of seating areas, and there is no need to deal with pouring any leftovers into another takeout bowl to go. I plan to return in the future and try more things! Jonathan (white dude with all the tattoos) had great customer service and some quality food!

Z H.

Yelp
This review is in comparison to other food places in the outlet. Broth is not too salty, which you could healthily consume. Ingredients are good and fresh. Noodles are a bit soft though. But this is an outlet place. Prices are not expensive too.
google avatar

Marie C.

Yelp
Boba while shopping? I'm in! We were shopping at the outlets and got hungry. Our plan was to hit Inn N out but just couldn't fathom the wait times and reparking etc Ordered ramen, chicken Katsu and two bobas - soft and great boba balls All yummy & ready to hit the road!
google avatar

Mitchell L.

Yelp
Good service, they were out of rice the cheapest ingredient. Ordered chicken ramen. One piece of chicken really cool and yummy mushrooms. Noodles were good, broth was also good. Not happy $15 Cool looks inside. No Asians working it, but the food was still yummy, it was all the other stupid stuff why 1 star.

Michael M.

Yelp
Save yourself the trouble and pick another place. When I walked in, the place was so deserted, I half-expected to see tumbleweeds rolling by. That should've been my first clue to make a swift exit. I ordered the salmon bowl, teriyaki bowl, and Shoyu Ginger Ramen. The teriyaki bowls tasted like they were dunked in caramelized soy sauce--teriyaki sauce clearly took a day off. The ginger bowl? Let's just say, I've had better microwaved leftovers. Mediocre at best would be a compliment.
google avatar

Allison L.

Yelp
Located in the San Clemente Outlet There's a wide variety on the menu but was kinda confused bc it says noodles and dumplings but has food that you'd typically see on a hawaiian restaurant menu. The Tomo Ramen is a good choice because it has a little bit of everything and the broth flavor is good. Tomo fries would have been a hit if they weren't stingy with their sauce and meat (see picture). $7 for a regular "carne asada fries" box but they don't put enough meat or sauce. Left with a pile of plain fries. Pork dumplings were good but nothing special. 3 pieces for $5.50 It's a good stop if you're shopping and hungry but probably won't be going out of our way to come back.
google avatar

Lu T.

Yelp
Saturday shopping at the outlets lead us to Tomo. It's a newer restaurant that opened late 2019. The offer several types of ramen, plates, and even boba drinks. The place is clean and orderly especially during this Covid-19 easing where some places are disorganized. There are some seating inside but mostly in pairs. There is patio seating outside, first come first serve. As for the food, the ramen broth and noodles were tasty. The only critique would be the protein. The chicken and pork appears to be grilled and over dry. That knocks off a star. The fish plate was cooked well and yummy. The drinks were good. Everything is reasonably priced. Overall if you need a decent place to eat and craving Japanese food, it will fill the void. Recommend.

Micheal L.

Yelp
Definitely leaves you full. However, beyond that, theres nothing of real value. The taste is subpar, and despite the portions being good, the texture of the chicken could convince me that it is microwaved frozen food. The rice is also cooked in a rather mediocre quality. Overall, despite good pricing for a fair portion, the taste of the teriyaki bowl could convince me that the meal was conjured by a 14 year old who just started cooking. The cashier also started having a conversation with someone while I was ordering.
google avatar

Vincent O.

Yelp
It's a pretty good bowl of ramen I would recommend just on that basis. The service and staff are what really makes this place great!
google avatar

Derek P.

Yelp
The ramen is lacking big time! Very bland, almost no flavor. Probably one of the worst Ramen spots I've ever been to.
google avatar

Harry A.

Yelp
Had the teriyaki chicken bowl on 10/30/22. The rice was good but the chicken was raw in the middle. Disgusting
google avatar

Riquo K.

Yelp
Unfortunately we weren't very thrilled with the rice bowls. Their ramen was alright - quite flavorful - we had a katsu bowl and the pork was under done - it is listed as crispy and crunchy - it was flabby and soft - the rice itself was nice as were the veggies. The crispy chicken in the other rice bowl, again as soggy / sauce drenched battered chicken.
google avatar

Cliff J.

Yelp
Tried this place out while I was at the outlets. I had ordered the a Ramen, a rice bowl, the Tomo fries, and boba. The Ramen was so-so: broth isn't has rich as a more traditional Ramen restaurant, the noodles seemed more like soft egg noodles, and the corn and mushrooms weren't particularly appealing. The pork chashu was particularly a nice piece of thick pork that was grilled well. The rice bowl is the way to go here. Can't go wrong with a simple rice bowl, and well cooked meat. Boba was ok, nothing eye-popping that caught my attention. The Tomo Fries are the best thing I had here. Well cooked seasoned fries with various sauces. Overall delicious and worth coming back to. If they had meat options, it'd be the best. Overall, it's not a bad place: service was decent, the chef was really friendly, clean dining area. The Tomo Fries are the best
google avatar

Kris P.

Yelp
Meh and pass. Came in this past Saturday and my family decided to give Tomo a try, there was no line... (there's a hint for ya). We ordered the hand dumplings, tomo fried rice, tomo ramen, and shoyu ginger chicken ramen. Very sad all around - portion for what you're paying for and quality. 3 limpy dumplings with very chewy wrapper and lots of green onion, less than a cup of cooked rice with probably 4pcs of dime sized chicken, and the ramen? Yea... don't do it. Good grief, I hope the owners of this place read these reviews and do an honest assessment. We are willing to come back, hopefully after a reset.1 star for friendly customer service. Tomo, maybe next time...
google avatar

La Familia M.

Yelp
Unassuming shopping mall eatery cleanly framed by modern minimal tables. Food was really good: Ramen, dumplings, and even French fries for my little one. The ramen broth is imported from Japan, I was told. The most memorable part of our experience, the thing that really makes this place stand out is the high-level of customer service and staff friendliness that we experienced. It makes all the difference in the world. Tasty food and a super welcoming atmosphere makes Tomo my family's first choice for noodles or, dumplings with q side of French fries...
google avatar

Rosalie L.

Yelp
This place is probably really good if it was in a different location and had better cooks. I hate leaving terrible reviews because it sucks to talk about a place so poorly. I went in the late afternoon on a Sunday. My girls and I ordered the vegetarian and tomo ramen, as well as the kimchi fried rice. The noodles were over cooked and the ramen noodles were green for the vegetarian one. Probably was not ramen noodles at all. They forgot to give us broth for the tomo ramen too. The kimchi fried rice was underwhelming. The rice was soggy and there wasn't much meat added. Portions were overall small and not worth it. The employees were nice and friendly and the spot was clean. Seems like the cooks were very young kids that may be inexperienced cooks and it took awhile for our food to come out. My friends did appreciated the amazing mural on the wall though! Located next to Nike in the San Clemente Outlets. Plenty of parking in the plaza.

Ann T.

Yelp
Was ordering a drink yesterday and while I was waiting for it noticed the workers in back prepare the food and no one was wearing gloves as they were touching and prepping food . Not sanitary at all as all were touching many things . Will only stick to drinks for now until I see a change . Please please make them Wear gloves !
google avatar

Me A.

Yelp
The girl behind the counter with the long hair must have touched her hair 15 times while I was there. The food was mediocre at best. Tables remained dirty the entire time we visited. The condiments need to be wiped down. Between touching her hair and sneezing into her hand, having never washing her hands, one could only hope to not get sick and never return.
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
Very much just okay. Ordered the tonkotsu ramen. I have certainly had better ramen, but was edible. The noodles were decent at best, and the broth could've used more flavor. Parts of the chashu were soft while others were tough. I didn't feel the need to finish my food and will likely grab another snack at the mall later.
