Tomukun was a place we wanted to stop in and try for a while. Finally came in for a date night-- the Green Curry Udon did not disappoint. If you love ramen, I highly recommend the Duck Ramen. Their Tempura Shrimp Buns were a delicious way to start the meal. Good service, good music choice playing and good food.

Despite the somewhat expensive price tag, the food was average. On weekends, reservations are high, so if you don't eat BBQ, you'll have to sit outside. The staff were all friendly and the service was good.

Google
This was my first time getting Korean BBQ, and it was a great experience. Our server Alejandro was very helpful and checked on us frequently. We got the beef brisket which was rather good! It came with lots of sides and sauce which made the around $30 price very worth it. I highly recommend.

Worst Experience in a long time. First time there and I ordered the spicy beef noodles. One of the servers had a bad vibe, maybe he had something against my skin color by the way he was looking at me while taking my order. I received what looked like pork grinds thrown into a noodle soup. It definitely wasn’t beef because I couldn’t even bite into it. I even had my partner try and she spat it out right away . Never again.

This Korean BBQ restaurant tastes very authentic. I think it is more authentic than Korean restaurants in New York. Highly recommended. It‘s very cost-effective!

We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Tomukun after attending a college tour at the University of Michigan. The mashed potatoes, served cold and containing bits of corn, cucumber, carrot, and pineapple, absolutely blew me away! As strange as it sounds, the flavor combination was spectacular- a must try! We enjoyed cooking our meats and vegetables at the table to our perfect degree of doneness. Delicious sides. Great service. If you are looking for unique, out of the ordinary tastes and a unique experience…you should definitely check this place out.

Google
Great place for shared experiences. We ordered a combo 3 for 6 of us and there was more than enough of food for the 6 of us. We would have preferred to have more of the metal tongues so we can all try cooking the meat, and the waiter was barely there so we really didn't have a lot of opportunities to ask for stuff like salt, etc. Which I really wanted at one point. By the time he came around, we were already done.

If you like Korean BBQ then yes, come here at your leisure and enjoy a large quantity of good meats and sides. I’m more of an all you can eat Korean BBQ joint, but this was the closest I could find that had good reviews. Those reviews got it right. Their serving size is large, and they have it in options if you have groups larger than two. My first time here, I was by myself, and I got the option that serves 2 people and even if I wanted to I wasn’t going to finish that whole thing. So, the great part about this is that if you don’t finish your meal they will allow you to take it home and I did just that. Be careful though this place can get very busy, so on top of having to find parking which is paid depending on the time of day, watch out for those busy hours. The restaurant isn’t super huge and the list fills up fast. My first time I waited almost two hours but I didn’t let it discourage me, waited and then got to enjoy a large feast. If you don’t want to partake in the combo platters, you can get individual entrees or you can try there many other options such as starters, noodles, and hot pot to say the least. Delicious.

Yelp
I was driving from Detroit to Dowagiac and craving some protein--thankfully, I found this spot along the way. After finding parking, I walked over and grabbed a table. Just a heads up: this isn't an AYCE KBBQ place--it's à la carte. I ordered the pork belly (naturally) and LA galbi, along with a couple of beers. The meats were well-prepped and looked great, served with onions, zucchini, and mushrooms. They provided three dipping sauces and a small selection of banchan. The staff was super attentive--checked in regularly and made sure I had everything I needed. The space is open, and for a KBBQ joint, surprisingly smoke-free. I think they use those built-in, under-grill ventilation systems, which made the whole experience a lot more comfortable. I've had better KBBQ, but this absolutely hit the spot. I would've liked to see a few extras--more banchan, lettuce for wraps, maybe steamed egg, fresh garlic, or some soup. I'm not complaining, just comparing based on my many KBBQ experiences. Overall, if you're passing through, I'd definitely recommend it. Solid food, good service, and a clean setup.

Yelp
I lived in Korea for a year and this place comes close but doesn't quite have the authentic flavor. It is still tasty though! Same as next door, don't come hangry because you will be seated pretty soon but the host will forget about you because it's so busy (so it's not entirely their fault)! You use a QR code to read the menu. We ordered Sullotang (ox bone stew) and Soondabu (spicy tofu soup). The side dishes were delicious! My fav were the macaroni&corn, spicy sliced cucumbers, and fish cakes. The Sullotang was good but doesn't quite have the same creamy flavor in Korea. The meat was good and didn't have any fat on it. The Soondabu was sooo spicy. Way too spicy for me but my husband ate it all! Our server was nice.

Yelp
I love checking out Korean restaurants whenever I can, so I was so excited to try Tomukun with friend and fellow Elite, Tiffany S. We met up for lunch recently and had a great experience. Nate and I first went into the wrong restaurant - they also have a more casual noodle spot next door, so be sure you know where you're meeting/going! We hadn't figured out if we wanted to do Korean BBQ or not when we first arrived, but we ended up choosing from the lunch specials/combos menu which was a great value. Plus I can never decide what I want, so it was great to be able to get a combo with two different options. I went with the bulgogi/nengmyun combo and we also got an order of mandoo to share. Our server was super patient and helpful with navigating the menu. The food came out quickly and everything was pretty tasty - I loved the mandoo (dumplings) - they were big and filled nicely. The nengmyun was good, not the best version of this dish that I've had, but it's hard to find in my city so I was happy to have theirs. I loved the spicy pork bulgogi; super flavorful and not too spicy. Nate got the sundubu stew which was delicious and quite spicy! The portions were large, especially for the price. I always forget how great it is eating in college towns - things can be way cheaper! Parking here is a bit tricky as it is anywhere downtown, but we lucked out with a street meter nearby. I will definitely be back to Tomukun in the future.

Yelp
Really good Korean BBQ. We had the regular ribeye and the combo with 2 selections (marinated ribeye and marinated short rib for us). Huge salad, lots of side dishes, very nice about bringing more kimchi. I was certain it was going to be way too much food, yet somehow the three of us ate it all! Unfortunately, they were out of all of their Japanese beers, both draft and bottled. But our waitress brought me a sample of their amber on draft, which was very good, and I went with that. I ordered a second beer and my husband ordered more of the yummy sesame dipping sauce, but alas they were never delivered.

Yelp
A longstanding crowd pleaser in town, and happy to see their continued success! For 2 people, we got the Japchae and a "Combo" of the Bulgogi (Marinated Ribeye) and Brisket. The order of meats comes with salad (which I really liked! fresh greens and a tasty dressing), rice, dipping sauces, and banchan side dishes. My favorite of the banchan was their dressed broccoli, or fish cakes. My least favorite was the cucumber (texture had gotten soggy). All the banchan can be refilled, but we didn't feel like we needed to. Of the meats, I like the marinated one much more, as it has its own flavor. The dipping sauces are tasty, but I still felt like the brisket tasted a bit on the unseasoned end even with the sauces. The Japchae is really tasty! Loved that, and felt like it rounded out the meal. The crisper veggies in this were great. For me personally, I do find it to be a little too much "work" and the meal to sit heavily afterwards. Might not come here often for those reasons for me, but think it's a good option for KBBQ in the area, and a fun activity with a group.

Yelp
Excellent experience!! The only negative element of our visit was getting seated as there was a bit of a wait (about 25 minutes). They don't take reservations unfortunately and we were a slightly larger party. We ended up getting the Combo 2 per our server's recommendation. It came with a large variety of meat, banchan, rice, and sauces. It's $150 and feeds 5-7 people (we were 5 and absolutely stuffed. You could easily feed a group of 7). The banchan and rice are also replenishable for free, and they were lovely about requests for more. Our favorite banchan were the kimchi, the broccoli, and the salad. The dipping sauces were all great. Meats were excellent and they were very nice about providing extra tongs for us to use. Our favorites overall were the spicy pork and beef brisket. Service was PHENOMENAL. Our server was kind, helpful, attentive, and super on top of our requests. Probably some of the best service I've had in a restaurant to be frank. Overall at $30 a head this was an excellent, filling meal and I would absolutely go back!

Yelp
Love this place. Have been several times and while this a little ridiculous, they have amazing salad. As a family we actually had them bring a second one, and we have purchased their salad dressing to take home as well. We generally do a family meal of marinated ribeye, marinated pork and chicken to grill. It is a fun time and you get to cook, eat and a great place to have a slower meal with great conversation. This place is a go to for my family and I.

Yelp
Needed a place to eat when we came for a college visit. So the first day we have gone to the Tomukun. Great place to eat. Food is top notch and since you cook it to your own specifications it works out great since noone is there to blame for messing up the doneness. Ambiance is that of a college place although the place is a bit pricey for a college hangout. Probably will visit it again if ever given a chance.

Yelp
First time here. When we arrived, there was a wait so we put our name on the list. We waited about 20 minutes and ended up sharing a table with a family. It was a long table so we had separate grills. We ordered the spicy baby squid with pork belly stir fry and tofu bi bim bap. We started with a seafood pancake. The service wasn't great. Several times we had to wave someone down. The seafood pancake wasn't great either. It should be springy and light with the right mix of egg, flour, and potato starch. But theirs was kind of doughy and heavy. We were not impressed. The stir fry had two pieces of pork belly and the rest squid. The bi bim bap had a lot of rice but not enough toppings. Disappointed. We will stick with their other restaurant next door.

Yelp
This place is in a great location right near the UMich campus. We stopped by because I was craving some Korean food. We got the pick two Korean bbq combo (brisket and LA galbi), kimchi pancake, and corn cheese! All were super delicious. Service was good and the inside was great! Prices were a little pricey but that's somewhat expected for kbbq. I loved the free sides, salad, sauces, and even the veggies that came with the meat. The only downside was the coke was watery and light brown, but when I told my waiter, he brought me a sprite instead, which I really appreciated. I'll def be back when I'm in Ann Arbor again!

Yelp
Excellent, l had the fried dumplings amd the bibimop bowl. I loved the ginger sauce for the dumplings, and the bowl was fantastic. A great little place in downtown!

Yelp
I really need this restaurant in my hometown!! Without a doubt, I would be a regular because this food is the best I've had. It's comparable to LA's Korea town restaurants. Funny enough, my partner and I haven't tried the kbbq yet because we wanted to enjoy some classic dishes like the cold noodle and soondubu, only to come back and crave the same dishes. All the side dishes were a hit, and I don't doubt that the meat is great because the grill tables are always filled.

Yelp
I'm visiting Ann Arbor for a conference and this is my favorite restaurant in town. The lunch special is a great deal, but I mostly came here (twice in 3 days) for dinner. The hot summer calls for cold noodle soup, and the broth was perfectly balanced and light while the noodles chewy and delightful. I found out later they make the noodles in house. We also got sundubu and wow the flavor blew me away. If I didn't have to leave so soon I'd try the entire menu. The service was excellent and the ambiance great for small group hangouts. Highly recommend if you're curious or love Korean food. They also run a ramen spot next door, but I never tried it.

Yelp
Went in for lunch. Good deals for lunch specials during weekdays. Great quality food. Very reasonable portions for lunch special. I ordered the duo bop bbq lunch special. Not too i but had enough kick. Not crowded at all during lunchtime but we came in around 2pm. The only negative was that my IPA was room temperature. Friendly service from the staff waiting on us.

Yelp
Got the spicy pork lunch menu. It was way more food than I thought it would be for the price, and tasted delicious!!! Would recommend for lunch
google avatar

Yelp
This place is great! Went in for dinner, ordered two apps and then 3 meats for the bbq. Our apps were the pork dumplings and sweet potato noodles. I actually don't like sweet potatos but the noodles tasted nothing like sweet potato, and the pork dumplings were cooked perfectly and very flavorful. We ordered brisket, short rib and marinated rib eye. All of the meats were delicious and fresh. The veggies and sides that came with the meal were also fresh and good. They give you dipping sauces as well as a ton of accompanying sides, kimchi, pickled seaweed salad, regular salad, marinated egg, potato, and more. Overall service and experience was great and can't wait to come back!!

Yelp
The food here was mediocre, but the service was not good. Our specific server was nice. However, we asked for additional sides. Our server said okay, and 5 minutes later a woman comes out and says to us "The kitchen has been closed since 9:30" and left. I looked at my watch and noticed it was 9:29. I understand closing the kitchen early, but did not appreciate the attitude the woman gave us. She spoke to us as if the kitchen had been closed for hours when, in fact, it had just closed. A simple "I'm sorry, our kitchen has just closed" would've been taken much better than her blunt statement without any other acknowledgment. Additionally, we were adding our last batch of protein to the grill, when another server (not our original server) came up and asked "Do you need a box?" as though trying to rush us. We had just started our last batch of protein, and I felt this was very rude to insinuate we should just take the meat home instead of finish our meal. It makes sense that they require 18% gratuity with their bills, as the service cannot be relied on! I do not recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
WE LOVE TOMUKUN!!! If you want a fun dining experience in the heart of Ann Arbor you definitely need to try out Tomukun! We are fans of the Chicken Kampoonki, Bulgogi, Non Marinated Ribeye, and Beef Jopche! Their cocktail options are great! Their jalapeño margarita is excellent as well as anything with soju! This is a great restaurant to go with friends or just on a date!

Sheyan E.

Yelp
It's my 1st time to try Korean barbecue and I mentioned this to the waiter and he was very patient and extremely helpful in his recommendation. Some interesting flavors that I really enjoyed as I enjoy trying new things. Would I come back? ....... If I had enough time to try out all the places around Ann Arbor, I think I will. The restaurant itself was clean and had the expected ambiance
google avatar

Yelp
Great Korean spot with a great selection. The menu is so big that anyone can find something they'll like. Don't be afraid to ask the waiters questions because they are always so helpful! Love this for lunch and dinner!

Co M.

Yelp
Got the bibimbop to-go. Portions were GREAT. Carrots, egg, zucchini and rice were good. Greens were so salty I couldn't eat them. Tofu was completely unseasoned. All in all it's a good bang for your buck and a great healthier option for the college locals.
google avatar

Linda S.

Yelp
Not the best KBBQ I've ever had, but I credit how niche kbbq is in the area and I do think they give a very good portion for the cost. The staff was amazing and speedy. They checked in and asked if everything was good and turned up and down the grill depending on how we were cooking. A classic sit down and talk vibe around. Trendy and open. Lots of natural lighting with the windows, but also in a really great and fun University of Michigan area! Extremely lively!

Yelp
A longstanding spot with high quality food I visited here a long time ago but its vitality is testament to its quality.-- especially because the downtown Ann Arbor food scene is a horrible clownfest of rotating BadInvestments

Yelp
Another establishment we were planning to dine in was closed, so we walked across the street to try this place instead. We had no idea what we were walking into, but we absolutely loved this place! It wasn't just dinner -- it was an experience! I don't want to share too much in this review because I want others to be as pleasantly surprised as we were. All I can say is...I wish we had one of these restaurants back in the Lansing area. F. A. N. T. A. S. T. I. C.

Yelp
Fantastic experience overall. Came as part of my 7000 mile 32 city food trip. Ordered the Korean beef stone bowl bibimbap and kimchi pork belly stir fry. Came with some sides to wet the palate while waiting. Rice had nice crispness from the stone bowl. My only critique was that it was very low on spice levels despite ordering extra spicy.
google avatar

Ed M.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Very busy too! The food was hot and fresh and a great change of pace! I love this Thor of food and it was presented well and was well worth the cost. I recommend Tompkins when your in the mood!

Yelp
4-star for food, and 2-star for service. We were sitting outside, and the waitress forgot us after we got the food. We need to reach out to get more napkins, get the bill, and a box. The bench was dirty. It seemed like there was a spill from dishes previous people ordered, and never got cleaned up... The food was alright. The spicy rib was delicious, would be better if they use the tender cut of the rib. The bibimbop is OK, I wish they seasoned/cook the tofu in someway instead of just giving me plain tofu.

Yelp
Amazing and authentic Korean food in Ann Arbor. We tried the seafood pancake, TANGSOOYOOK (usually this is fried pork, but they offered chicken as an option and we went with that!), JAJANGMYUN, and Soonduboo. All dishes were incredibly delicious and tasted authentic, great portions, perfect level of spice, and topped with excellent service from the staff. We will be back again to try the BBQ next time!

Yelp
Yikes. What a disappointment. This used to be one of my favorite A2 restaurants, but today's lunch was abysmal. First, our miso soup was brought to the table at room temperature. I told the server and her response was: "everything is always broken around here, let me see what I can do." A few minutes later she brought lukewarm miso soup to the table and said, "this is probably a little warmer, but I can't get it hot." Um...okay? We ordered stone bowl bibimbap (lunch menu), my wife got beef and I got seafood (extra $2). Neither bowl was hot enough to crisp the rice on the bottom. My wife had maybe 2 tablespoons of beef in her bowl, and I had two small calamari rings, a couple salad size shrimp, and some stray octopus tentacles. The seafood was tough and fishy smelling. There are much better Korean options in the downtown area, so I won't be back.

Yelp
The food here was a ten. I legit had either leftover boxes to take home they gave us so much. It last several meals and was delicious. While we did try a lot, the amount of meat they gave us for the BBQ seemed like a portion for more than one or two, and I am not complaining. We tried to cheesy corn. It was good and bubbling hot when it arrived. It had great cheese pull and was a great starter. I also had the fluffy egg which was steaming hot and fluffy and went well with the rest of the meal. I had the suju with guava and passion fruit syrup, so good and refreshing and paired well with the BBQ. We ordered the chicken bibimbop and the chicken was good, tasted like a teriyaki marinade. The sweet and sour fried chicken and peppers was also delicious and came with tons of chicken and veggies. I enjoyed the sides that came with the BBQ. We had fish cakes, pickled cucumbers, really nice kimchi, zucchini which I loved the most and some flavorful tea eggs. Plus a huge salad. We got a few tins of rice and for the BBQ we got bulgogi beef and bone in spare rib. Like I mentioned, it was so huge there was probably enough for at least four portions not one or two. All of it was great and really fun. The service on the other hand, was not the best. While overall the staff was nice our server was a bit snarky and not quite helpful, plus talked about me behind me back yet in front of me to her co-worker. Not impressed. At least wait until we left. I ordered my drink which is on the menu and she did not know what I meant. I tried to explain it and even show her, she was a bit rude about it and complained to her co-worker right after as I was walking to the restroom and saw me pass her. She did not offer to refill the drinks and it was very hot inside the restaurant. She also turned off the burner to the BBQ and never turned it back on, so we had to have another staff member help us because we did not want to press a bunch of buttons. The rest of the staff was nice and helpful. I would come back because I love their food here and next door at the noodle shop but the service was iffy for spending quite a bit of money here. Nonetheless I recommend both sides of this restaurant for fun experiences with food.

Yelp
My co-workers and I decided to have Korean BBQ for lunch the other day. I should have also scheduled the afternoon off to nap after all the food we ate! My friend E chose the restaurant and a most excellent choice it was. We started with the not very Korean corn cheese with bacon. I mean, who can resist sweet corn, mozzarella cheese, and bacon? That dish disappeared very quickly. It was delicious. The sweet potato noodles (jopchae) were a pleasant surprise. They remind me of the Vietnamese mung bean noodles that I grew up eating. They are stir-fried in sesame oil with a sweet soy sauce, beef, scallions and mushroom. It's definitely a carry-out order when you're feeling lazy and don't want to cook. If I lived in Ann Arbor, I would order this all the time. We also ordered the seafood pancake (haemul pajeon). I didn't like this dish as much as the others probably due to the fact that I didn't try it until much later and it was cold by the time I ate it. Note to self - eat while hot. The pancake has shrimp, octopus, squid, mussels and green onions. It's definitely a large appetizer to share with your friends. We had one more seafood dish - the spicy squid stir fry (ojinguh bokum). I really enjoyed this dish. Just the right amount of spicy. The star of the lunch was not one but two orders of the marinated short ribs (yangnyum galbi). The short ribs are marinated in a sweet garlic soy sauce. It comes to the table as one big piece of meat. It also comes with a pair of scissors so you can cut the short ribs into bite size pieces thru the cooking process. We let E do all the cooking and she did a wonderful job. As with most Korean BBQ, you have lots of side dishes including kimchi, fish cakes and white rice. E and I made sure there were no leftovers of galbi. Nothing left but the bones. I will definitely make a return trip. The food and service are both great. One other tip....don't eat anything before you come here because your tummy will definitely be full after eating here.

Yelp
Would recommend if your crew loved to eat meat protein I will say I struggled to consume my share. But loved the feel of a communal meal preparation and eating & socializing. I initially was not a big fan of the us cooking our own cuisine, we enjoyed the fact that we can cook our food to our own personal satisfaction. If paying to cook to eat is not your cup of team simply order a pre-prepared entree. Veggies are fresh as are the raw cuts of meat. Sauces are delicious - though I cannot vouch for the spicy one since we didn't eat it. Suggest not ordering more than 2 animal meats if you choose to prepare yourself- we struggled to get it all cooked so we could take it home. Moderate to pricey - considering this is meat not seafood. But the Liberty Street downtown Ann Arbor location is probably why. Servers have to constantly bring clean grill tops especially if you have larger amount of meat to cook. Bring you biggest carnivore appetite to this place! Park in garage nearby - finding street parking is like finding a needle in a haystack. Non appetite meat eaters!!!

Yelp
I haven't been here in awhile (pre-pandemic) so I was excited to get my Korean BBQ fix. I went with my family on a Wednesday night and it was surprisingly busy. My family and I got the Combo that feeds 5-7 people (we are a family of 4...), Seafood Pancakes, and Dumpling Soup. The food was good. I wish the Seafood Pancakes were more crispy though. I absolutely love the salad that the Korean BBQ comes with! We had so much meat. The pork and chicken are my favorite. The only reason I am giving a 3 star review is because of the service. We had to ask for everything. The staff doesn't really check in on you and they are slow.

Yelp
This was our first time at a Korean BBQ, and it ended up being our favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor. The meal starts off with tastes of several unique Korean sides, including seaweed, kimchi, whitefish, etc. We also had an oat tea that was unique and perfect for the food. Next comes the mains. We ordered sweet potato noodles and a spicy chicken dish. The portions were huge, and the food was amazing. We liked the chicken dish better than the noodles, but they were both good. Service was very fast and the staff was very nice. Restaurant is clean and very open. There were also hot pots and grills on the tables, but we did not try those.

Yelp
I thought the quality of the meats and service was excellent! I met my buddy from Tennessee here to eat some epic Korean BBQ. It lived up to the expectations for sure. It was his first time to a Korean BBQ and he really enjoyed it. This place is busy so get here early. Great location to walk around downtown Ann Arbor. Lots of stuff to do. Everything was awesome go give it a try.

Yelp
This was a fun dinner. We ordered a combo (serves 4) and it was so much food. You cook the meat and vegetables yourself, right at your own table. It's a really interesting idea. That's really the biggest downside, you want to chat and socialize, but someone has to pay attention to the food!
google avatar

Yelp
Best k bbq in Ann arbor I'd say. Their lunch special is a good deal. I don't recommend those beef rolls bc they had no seasoning and there was this beef stinkiness after grilling. Great service bc they kept giving us side refills.

Yelp
Went a little crazy with the ordering but my party of 8 enjoyed all the meats and noodle dishes! Great Korean bbq in Ann Arbor. I'm visiting from California where we have bountiful of amazing Korean bbq so we were surprised of this spot. The panchans weren't the best, and the cold noodles were vermicelli noodles instead of buckwheat. Anywho, It's a great experience to grill and eat a communal dinner with your friends.

Yelp
I first came here with my family when I visited UofM and I've been coming ever since. This is the OG Korean restaurant in Ann Arbor and they have so much variety in their meals. My favorite is the soondooboo with pork. It tastes just like what I can get back at home, and it really hits the spot. This restaurant also has a noodle side next door that has really good ramen so go check it out!

Yelp
Good, but not blown away. Honestly I was more geeked about the fact that they had their salad dressing for sale at the front. You get a lot of food for the 2 meat option. The salad was simple, but that dressing made it special. The meats / I picked marinated. I wish I had one not marinated. The sides - meh. Went back for seconds on 2 out of 5. We ordered the "crispy wings", yes they were super crispy but I've had much better. Decor nice, inviting and with a grill at the table the place did not have that grilled meat odor, which I appreciated. Waiter was a bit snarky but I think he thought these two wise women thought that might be seen as funny. At first ok, but that gets old fast. Over all good. Value for how much it cost isn't there for me. I am going to hit up their Noodle shop next door though

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of kbbq, and ordered the BBQ Combo Meat Platter #1, trying out the beef brisket, marinated short ribs and their pork belly. Of the three, I liked the beef brisket most with the pork belly coming last, it was a little bit tough compared to what I'm used to! The side dishes were all a hit, I liked every single one which is actually quite rare. Service was decent but more than once we had to turn away orders that weren't ours being delivered to our table and it took awhile to flag someone down to get our check. Aside from the smaller details like that, I'm excited to come back to try other items in their menu like the soups and stews!

Yelp
Great Food! Great experience! Located in the heart of Ann Arbor, Michigan, this restaurant offers a large variety of very tasty food. Love the table set up where you can cook your own food at your own table - they will bring everything out to you. If this sounds a little intimidating, you can order it and they will prepare it for you. If you find yourself in Ann Arbor or near, it's definitely worth a try. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
I'm ashamed to admit this, but since moving from LA to Ohio, I've been pretty damn homesick. I've been so mopey that I made a playlist of California songs on Spotify that I've been listening to death over the last several weeks. In search of any familiar comforts of home, I was pretty happy to hear that Korean BBQ actually exists in Michigan (we used to live close by a Gen back in LA). Tomukun may not be the best Korean BBQ I've had, but it's pretty good considering it's in the Midwest. Let's get this out of the way first. Tomukun actually shares a noodle bar with the same name next door to it. When we first got there, we ended up waiting 15 minutes for a seat at the Tomukun Noodle Bar. When we got seated and were like, "Uh where are the grills?" the waitress prompted us to walk next door, which apparently happens all the time to new customers. Don't make the same mistake we did. Now some Korean BBQs are all-you-can-eat, but Tomukun is more traditional with ala carte ordering. The price point is pretty reasonable compared to other places I've been to. They also have combo platters as well where you pick from a limited meat selection for a set price. You start off with salad, veggies, and a pretty decent selection of banchan (including my favorite sweet potato). We ended up getting the ribeye, bulgogi, and beef brisket (I think?) and they were all marinated well. It comes with 3 dipping sauces too which were decent. Service was OK, but we did have to wait a while for the check. They were good with offering frequent grill changes though. Theses last few weeks have been a brave new world for me, but at least with bulgolgi and banchan in hand, it doesn't have to be so bad.

Yelp
I wish I could give them -10 star. I ordered food on the phone, I talked to the first lady to get food and she seemed busy didn't get my name, didn't tell me when I could pickup and hung up. I called back talked to another guy about the food and just wanted to leave my name and what time I should get my food, he passed the phone to another girl and repeated my order. All I wanted was pork stir fried with NO KIMCHI and the last server I talked to said they could make it happen. I found out that I have to pay $27 for my food when I picked up and after talked to several people (also the server that took my order) they realized that they misunderstood on what I tried to order, of course! Because when I tried to order she didn't even care and just hung up. The lady who took care of me when to the kitchen and talked to a cook, she seemed very upset, I could see everything because she didn't wear a mask, she looked at me and tried to change her attitude after she knew that I was looking at her too, but really it was too late. I was there for almost 20mins the lady who took my order never came and apologized or say anything. And for my food I asked at the very beginning if I can have it without kimchi but it's okay if they already mix it together and the lady told me it have done that way already and I didn't mind that. Got back to my hotel AND ALL I GOT WAS ONLY KIMCHI, I COULDN'T FIND ANY PORK BY MY OWN EYES! At first I thought it was a mistake again, they probably gave me a wrong bag, but then I found a few tiny pieces of pork, smaller than you can imagine. Is this really how they do? I'm working in restaurant industry and went to so many places all over the place. I had fantastic experiences and also bad ones, but I would say Tomukun was giving me the worse nightmare for all my entire life! I don't really know what food taste will be like because I didn't get 'pork' but only kimchi. Unprofessional cook and server and to be honest, they were not that busy at all. The lady who took care of everything I know she did what she could, thanks to her but the rest....

Yelp
The food was boring, not worth any t'épice higher than $30. The ribeye was ok, the chicken was just straight plain and flavorless. No seasoning at all. Good kimchi and good sides in general, the meat was not good. Not to mention the chicken was hard to cook. Don't get waste your money on a whole bbq combo just get an appetizer. Service was not the best, kinda rude waiters and forced us to pay a $13 tip making our total go from $60 to $91. The ambiance was terrible, the music did not give $91 meal vibes, constant baby screaming like a dying pig, and the place was just boring. I feel bad for making my boyfriend spend so much money here, the screaming pig baby is screaming as I'm typing this. 1 star.

Yelp
I was definitely concerned when the waiter told me he doesn't like Kimchi and has never eaten the one there. The restaurant is fine, the options are pretty limited. The regularity at which they change the cook top is not good. I think we had to ask for it to be changed. A good place will change it 2-3 times without you having to ask. The price was kinda steep for the limited options. I can't say this place is bad, but on a scale it's kinda just ok. If you don't have much experience with kbbq and are like a college student looking to "broaden your horizons" and have the money for this place it's fine. If you have some experience you'll find this place to be very... mediocre.

Yelp
The service is great, the food is absolutely incredible! The Korean grill is mind blowing! If you don't want to cook yourself, there's plenty of great menu options. They're great at showing you how to use the grill and helping you cook. Such a cool and delicious experience!

Yelp
Tomukun was our first indoor dine-in restaurant experience since COVID restrictions were lifted. I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about it. However, the precautions that Tomukun took made me feel safer. You can tell that their capacity is slashed at least in half to give at least 6' between tables. We came around 6pm on a Saturday and the wait wasn't terrible - about 45 minutes. Other safety measures include but aren't limited to: *They don't re-use bowls/banchan plates (not sure if they did before, but they just give you a new one if you ask for more). *They have you wait outside for your table *They also have outdoor dining if that's more your speed! It was my first time here and it was a really positive experience! We had BBQ combo #1 with: MARINATED SHORT RIBS - this was probably our favorite. bone-in keeps it nice and juicy! BEEF BRISKET - Really nicely thinly sliced! SPICY PORK - nice marinade. I generally don't prefer a heavily marinated pork to something simple like the short rib/brisket, but that's purely personal taste preference. So if you're looking for something that packs a lot of flavor, this is a great option! They don't have radish or rice paper here unfortunately! Our usual KBBQ go to is in Southfield, but that's a bit of a trek. Tomukun is a great local option!

Yelp
Solid as always. Been coming here since they opened and they are among the better kbbq spots in Michigan. A little warm inside today, but overall service and food are good. They do seem to offer fewer side dishes than other kbbq spots though.
