The Best Chinese Restaurants in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"It’s easy to overlook this sliver of a storefront in the Chinatown–International District, but let the sight of hanging meats draw you in, and you won’t be disappointed. The roasted duck has crackly skin, while the poached free-range chicken comes with a bright ginger-scallion sauce. With an advance order, the restaurant will even set up a whole pig to go for your special occasion. Note that Ton Kiang has been takeout-only since COVID started." - Jay Friedman

I've been going here for a good 4-5 years. Super fast service, very high quality food at a fantastic value - as of Jan 2025 the 3-item combo is still $13.61, same price since March 2023! Also shown is soy sauce chicken with noodles. Meats are delicious, the rice and cabbage you get with the combo are great. The beef chow fun is good, and I would like to try their brisket sometime! Of the three or so BBQ joints in the immediate area, Ton Kiang is the best. Note this is a take-out place.

Google
This is the best Cantonese BBQ in Seattle. If you ever find yourself heading to Uwajimaya or the rest of the ID on Mon-Sat and you want roast pork, do yourself a favor and head here instead. For a cheaper price you can get fresh roast pork that is to die for. Well marinated, crunchy, and juicy. The dry beef chow fun is also a staple and is always cooked hot to order. I've ordered from here many many times and never been disappointed. P.S.: If you want roast chicken you might want to call in ahead. It's very popular.

Google
Ordered their wonton soup as a last meal before I get on my train down south. The wontons were huge! Generous pork and shrimp filling and nice thin skins. Broth was gentle and savory and the noodles were uniform and had a nice soft but bouncy texture. Seems like they only do to-go orders but there is a lovely park a block away (location of photos taken) where you can sit down to eat if you’d like. The lady taking orders when I went was super friendly and a joy to talk to. I didn’t try their roast meats but the duck and pork belly hanging in the window looked well seasoned and I’d love to try them next time I’m here!

Google
My go to place for southern Chinese bbq in Seattle. It’s better than the other places I’ve had, super value as well. My go to is the duck and soy sauce chicken combo with rice. Togo only and family owned place. The owner is nice and speaks enough English. On a sunny day it’s nice to eat the meal in the ID park nearby.

Google
They're not clear about their prices. I got the 3 meat lunch special and they jacked up their price by a few dollars, on the fly, presumably because I spoke in English. Be careful if it's the women taking the orders. Overall, their meats are good and the lunch special was a good portion for the price, that's why it gets 3 stars. But fleecing paying customers is such a 20th century practice. It's universally understood that I get to choose where I spend my money. I won't be supporting this business often, or possibly at all, in the future, I'll have to see. Update: their response to the price hike was due to tax. I had no idea Seattle's sales tax was 20% - 30%. That being the case, I will be more conservative with my spending, and spend my money somewhere else.

Google
Basic, mom & pop, hole-in-the-wall Cantonese BBQ joint with limited seating. Quick to-go service and friendly, efficient staff. Excellent roast duck - fatty and flavorful with every bite! Their congee is also one of the best in the area. Great prices for large portions. Fantastic value!

Google
Came down here with the boys, amazing service they were so happy to have us in ! The portions are amazing for the price (13$ each) so much food and it was really really good ! The people were truly amazing and we had a nice conversation with them about UW ! 11/10 would definitely come again !

Google
Ton kiang has never failed my expectation in the past several years I’ve lived in Seattle. They are a hole in the wall and usually there are two people running the show so they’re pretty busy. All their rice/noodle dishes comes with a lovely wok hay that you don’t get at many Chinese restaurants, not to mention at such an affordable price. I got those four boxes of food and it lasts three meals for two foodies. This will forever be one of my favorite places and I will always come back to explore more menu items! 锅气十足 物美价廉 东江真是打工人午餐首选!

Lisa R.

Yelp
Omg this is old school Chinese hole in the wall-- the best kinda place!! The bbq in the window and the menu on the walls brings back childhood memories of bbq delis. Will definitely be back when visiting again and want to bring goodies to my out of state student. The rice plates are such a deal- rice, veggies and any type of bbq. Portions are good and prices are great! Wished I had more room in my belly to eat more. They have a nice variety of Cantonese soup noodles and jook. They even hand zhong. They were packed solid, good ratio of filling to rice but it was a bit dry for me.

Yelp
This is my go to stop for chinese bbq in chinatown! I typically get a combo meal which you can choose 2 types of meat. I usually go with the char siu, oil chicken, or crispy belly and all of them are delicious! I also recently tried the tomato with beef over rice and this is my new favorite dish! Its like an elevated version of tomato egg plus beef but the meat is so tender and the rice just soaks up all the sauce and its so flavorful. The staff are super nice and service it really quick. Its a small to go shop as there are no seats so keep that in mind.
google avatar

Yelp
Very well priced, quick service and good portions. Food was flavorful, a bit on the salty side for the roast duck. Soy sauce chicken was very tender

Patty T.

Yelp
I'm sorry I'm not sure whether this is a restaurant or not. It looked pretty nasty inside, but the smells from the roast pork and ducks Is amazing. I did order half a pound of the slab pork and I must say it was delicious. So I will probably go back again, but only for the pork and maybe the duck.

Yelp
If you're looking for something cheap and amazingly good, you literally just found the place. Don't expect too much with the ambiance of the place bc it's literally just your typical hole in the wall Chinese spot that serves bomb food with pretty decent service. It was busy when I came but they were pretty efficient and I was out of there in 10 minutes tops (that's with an order of fried rice on top of the other stuff I got too). Everything we got here were pretty amazing! Our fav were their char siu, roast duck and roast pork! Price is reasonable for the portion we got. Not only that they have combo meals for the cheap, they also have a extensive menu you can order from. We ordered fried rice along with a 3 combo meat plate and everything came out great. They also take credit cards and Apple Pay with no additional fee as long as your purchase is over $10. Surprising to me since places like this usually only accepts cash. Another plus for me!

Yelp
delicious bang for your buck cantonese good. this is the exact type of place i dream of. my friend and i got: - 3 meat combo over rice - garlic string bean and we thought it would be too much food but we somehow ate most of it that goes to show how amazing this food is though. the duck was both of our favorites. the flavor was bursting without being too salty. the char siu is on the sweeter side which i also enjoyed. the meat combo also came with steam cabbage which was also very good and nutritious. the total was about $28 which is such a good deal. i love a good hole in the wall asian restaurant and this place hit the spot. unfortunately there is no seating here so we sat at the uwajimaya food court but this place is so good it's fine with me

Yelp
a small unassuming place in chinatown, but they serve delicious variety of meat cuts and combo meals! got the 2 combo meat, which comes with a bed of rice and steamed cabbage. opted for the roast duck and bbq pork, which were both very moist, juicy, and flavorful! it wasn't dry AT ALL! overall, the meal was very hearty, filling, and reasonably price because it was a generous portion that can definitely be shared between two people! the staff were really nice as well and service was quick! small shop, so there are no seats and everything is to go btw.
google avatar

Yelp
Came back recently as I have been in the mood for roast duck. While the 3 meat combo is much pricier than I was used to, it's still an alright price for the amount of meat you get. I got the 3 meat combo with bbq pork, roast pork and roast duck and I was satisfied with the portions and quality. The downside is that they only do takeout now but if the day is nice and the sun is out you can enjoy your meal in Hing Hay Park!

Yelp
Very happy with my trip here! I ordered the 2 meat plate over rice with the crispy roast pork and roast duck ($11.79), as well as a half pound of bbq pork ($11.80/lb). The total came out to $20. The plate was very hefty and it weighed a whopping 2.2 lb! There is a generous portion of meat and rice, as well as a bit of cabbage. The meats were really tasty and juicy, and the cabbage added a nice crunch. This is a no-thrills, hole in the wall kind of place. You order and pay right when you walk in and I do not believe you can sit inside to eat. However the workers were very nice and quick, and it's hard to find good prices like this these days.

Yelp
So this is a small unassuming place in chinatown. I ordered duck noodle soup with added wontons yes its not on the menu, but i asked and they obliged. They are takeout only so you will need to relocate yourself to actually enjoy the food you ordered. Since i got noodle soup, I got my food in 2 separate containers, 1 container with the "dry" goods - (the duck, noodles, 1 small helping of bok choy, 1 condiment container of duck broth, won tons) and a container of soup broth. I wandered over to the food hall (as i was planning on getting a drink and a cream puff) to eat and quickly unpacked my containers. I wish i asked for some spicy chili oil, but otherwise this was pretty good. I do wish that the wontons were cooked in the broth but understand why they didnt. This was pretty tasty, but I have had others that were just slightly better (Sang Kee in Philly comes to mind). The duck was good i got a mix of pretty bony pieces and some with meat. Duck is all about the flavor so it came as expected. I was so full after this lunch though i had to skip out on my anticipated cream puff.

Yelp
Insane. Insanely good. Wow I can't wait to go back, this place is just amazing! Price - super reasonable especially if you come for lunch they have lunch specials Food - addictive, the crispy pork is good but their char siu (roast pork) is the star. Nice crispy edge, not too fatty, and just explosion of flavor Come for the charsiu. Stay for the cholesterol!

Yelp
Sometimes when you're searching for Cantonese carryout, the "divier," the better. And this bbq joint fits the bill as seating is minimal, lighting is harsh, and atmosphere is nonexistent. But oh, the bbq meats! We craved some fried beef rice noodle and it was pretty good and plentiful for $12. But the star of our carryout meal was the 2 meat appetizer dish. We ordered the roast duck and cha siu (bbq pork), but since they were running out of duck, they gave us 2-3 pieces of duck AND some roast pork. For $12, there was a good size tray of 2 kinds of pork + duck, enough for a meal in itself (add your own rice & veggies). The roast pork had well-crisped skin, and the bbq pork was flavorful with the perfect amount of lean to fat. Service was fast and friendly......love to watch when they chop up the meats! This will be my go-to place for carryout bbq meats in Seattle.

Yelp
This has been my go to place for Cantonese bbq for a while. They've got all the standard fare: roast duck, barbecue pork, roast pork, chicken. I usually get a 2 meat combo with duck and bbq pork or duck and roast pork. The duck is my favorite wherever I go, and they season it just right here. Good flavor and not overly salted (just remember to ask for plum sauce, they don't always include it automatically). The barbecue pork is well seasoned, love it when they include the end pieces that have the most glaze on them. Roast pork has never disappointed either, with a nice crispy skin and both lean and fatty meat with each bite. They give a good amount of meat, on a generous bed of rice with some cabbage as well. Can't be beat for a quick meal in ID! Summary: Good bbq, good prices, fast service. FYI, it has been take out only since COVID.

Yelp
Great, great authentic Chinese food and BBQ duck. This is the best bang for the buck for Chinese food in Seattle and in WA state hands down!!

Yelp
Food and service is only Ok, they can do better. I ordered Singapore rice noodles, the bbq pork were so burned and dry. Very disappointed

Yelp
First time coming to the Seattle Chinatown district. Parking - in the Vietnamese grocery market on the king street or at the parking lot under the highway Walk - 10minutes from king to the 7th then turn again after seeing the statue Service - very friendly, ask for everything and cuts needed for the free range chicken Food - the best chicken I've eaten for a long while, btw I sometimes buy free range chicken from Trader Joe's, they are like $18 and my poached chicken skill learned from YouTube is not compatible with the specialist here. The chicken tastes slightly salted and delicious, the skin is jellyish and preserved well on with the chicken meat. Very nicely done, will come back and try other cuts of meat.

Mike M.

Yelp
Simple food made well. Stopped in for some take out (that's the only option here), and found a diversmenu on the wall. Seems not everything is available, but my choice of chicken and duck on rice made the cut. I also had a choice of coke or sprite. That's it. They prepare the food right in front of you - don't get picky about boneless meat! They chop up your bird with hefty swings of a cleaver and ina few minutes, you're out the door. Aside from spitting rib bones once in a while, the food was great. Simple seasonings, simple presentation....and not screwed up in any way whatsoever. They even price things so that - after tax - your final prices are rounded to 00. I'll be back

Yelp
This is a pretty solid Canto BBQ joint but a little hit or miss. Here is how it scored... Meats Roast Duck: 5/5: definitely their signature Roast pork: 4/5 not the best for sure but solid execution Soy sauce chicken: 3.5/5 ok but you can make better at home. Char siu: 3/5 kind of dry Side dishes Combination chow mein 4.5/5: loved their skinny noodle style, not greasy either. Beef chow fun: 4/5: really solid all around Gai lan: 4/5: yeah how can you mess up gai lan LOL Duck congee (jook): 1/5 it was a clumpy rice hot mess. I made better jook when I was 7 years old. :-( Joong: TBD I actually came here because of the joong reviews. Joong is hard to find in the Portland Metro with the exception of the 99 Ranch market and they are not very good. I bought 6 of them to take home for the Lunar New Year. The bag of joong weighs 12 pounds. LOL Yeah baby, a good joong is HEAVY. The best Canto Gut Bomb ever invented. There are 5 things Canto Folk love which are well executed here: roast duck, beef chow fun, combination chow mein, salted fish and chicken fried rice and joong. The people aren't too grumpy and the prices are pretty good too. What more could you want? Check it out.

Yelp
I'm not sure if I came on a bad day, but based on a subpar first impression, I would not recommend Ton Kiang nor would I come back. I ordered roast pork with rice, BBQ pork with rice, and garlic string beans. When I came to pick up my order, it was very unclear what was going on at the restaurant. There was one guy loudly speaking Cantonese to the cashier, then there was another couple who was waiting to place their order, and then there was me. The couple managed to place their order with a lady that randomly came out to take their order then disappeared. I waited and waited behind them to pay for my order. After a long wait, I asked the couple in front of me if they were waiting to pay, and they told me that they were just waiting for their order and instructed me to move ahead of them to pay, so I did just that. Anyway, as far as the food goes, it was very underwhelming. The portions of meat were very small compared to the generous portion of rice that was given. There was like 4x more rice than meat. The meat seemed like an afterthought, the way there was such a limited amount sprinkled haphazardly across the bed of rice. The roast pork was just okay because the skin wasn't very crispy. The BBQ pork was very uneven. Some pieces were well flavored while other pieces were bland. The garlic string beans were bland and soggy. Aside from all this, as I was waiting for my turn to pay in the restaurant, I watched a cockroach crawl across the wall. I didn't get sick from the food but that really deterred me from wanting to come back.

Yelp
Disappointed in this place. Came in and tried to order the 4 bbq choice appetizer to go. They ran out of roast chicken and roast pork. So I ended up getting char siu, ginger chicken, and double order of roast duck for my four choices. They tried to charge $14 then came back and said sorry we thought you got three choices but since you are ordering 4 choices it costs more. They charged me close to $18. I got home opened the box and the amount of duck given was definitely not the double amount I asked for. Saturday at 1 P.M. and they were already sold out of so many choices. It is over priced, dry, and burnt meat. Will not recommend. Also want to mention they pack their warm meats in a plastic box. Is that even food safe? I am going to stick to King's bbq or Kau kau down the street.

Yelp
This is my go to spot for Chinese BBQ. The value is unmatched. I opt for the 3 meat w/ rice plate. For $16, I got enough food for at least 2 meals.

Yelp
Opened on Christmas and they are very well stocked. Meats are so tasty, fresh and affordable. The owners are so nice inquired about the price for a small roasted piglet. Currently $260.00 for the small size.

Yelp
Pandemic favorite!! In pandemic, I've learned that if I like a place, I must make many repeat trips and rave about them often! Else they might not make it! So I'm doing just that with this place. Pre-pandemic, I've been here once because my goto bbq the street over was out of duck. I remember liking it. But! I stick with my favorite from the habit. Till, pandemic anyway. And I'm glad. This place is my new favorite! They are open mainly for take out but they have a tiny table or two. I mostly come for their roast duck/ bbq meat. But I've tried other stuff too. Roast duck : my favorite here! Never greasy, just right. Salted chicken and fish fried rice: best of their fried rice. Too salty of a salted fish but it flavors the whole dish! Sadly, pics of fried rice are after I ate. It's massive!! And I can never make a dent. Ginger & onion lo mein: noodles are good. Wonton soup : good wonton but broth is very blend. Beef fried rice/ shrimp fried rice : not bad but their salted fish is their best. Soy sauce chicken : ok Roasted pork : pretty good Roast duck noodle soup: delicious noodles & duck. Very blend broth. Ginger chicken : pretty good. A little fatty. In the past 3 months since I have been coming, they changed prices 3 times ( supply chain ) already but still very affordable. They are also super fast for takeout which works great for me. Usually 5 minutes plus for anything! The closing time though is never accurate. It depends on them.. call before you go!

Yelp
Ambience. D Service. A Food. A Price. A Definitely hole in wall and if you can look beyond the dinginess and cluttered storage area front of building , you can enjoy a decent inexpensive meal. Friendly service and takes apple pay credit cards over $10 with no fee. Still wearing masks and Covid guidelines. Not really comfortable to eat here currently. Carry out only. Maybe back to dining on their 2 tables in the future. I enjoy the wrapped sticky rice Joong and hanging meats. Today was the roast duck. I never realized the lean part is the upper part of the duck...I guess that's why they hang and the tail end is more fatty with greasy duck drippings. If you can look past the the establishment, just enjoy the food ! I'm a fan.

Yelp
TO-GO ONLY!! Now that that's out of the way, this is straight delicious hole-in-the-wall Cantonese bbq cheap eats deliciousness!! We were hopin GF or Peking duck but sold out as we arrived late on their closed early at 6pm weekly time schedule. Instead we ordered an off menu 4 meat combo to try a little of everything that comes included with sticky rice and/or cabbage or just the meats 'if you want a little more meat' to quote the younger attendant that spoke English well... best $17 ever spent!! Roasted pork with crispy skin was unbelievably amazing!!. Char-siu pork perfect balance of lean and fatty with just enough seasoning. Ginger steamed chicken bone-in chopped off the carcass tender and succulent, roasted chicken, a well selected variety of breast, thigh and wing cuts.. chili oil, scallion oil and sweet and sour accoutrements rounded out the platter well.. we went for the steamed cabbage as the base and found it to work perfectly with everything. First visit a grand slam!!. Will probably repeat this weekend on our short visit to Seattle, it was THAT good!!

Yelp
Still one of my favorites in the ID for roast or bbq meat over rice along with 663 and King's. I haven't had luck with the most popular place that most people go to not sure if it's my timing or what. I love that their meat over rice comes with cooked cabbage here. I came around 12:45 today and they didn't have enough chicken for my full order so they they some char shu in at no extra charge. I also had noticed people were talking about their sticky rice so I got a couple of number 2 the one without egg and peanuts. She told me to zap it in the microwave for s couple minutes looking forward to having it for dinner tonight.

Yelp
This is a limited review. I've bought only one thing from them for many, many years - Joong, aka 粽, aka Rice Dumpling, aka Chinese Tamale. Decades ago when I moved to the Seattle area, Ton Kiang is the first location where I found the very homey, very legit and authentic Cantonese Joong. (In the Seattle area, the other commonly available types are Taiwanese and Shanghainese ones.) They sell two varieties, differentiated by having egg yolk and peanuts (version 1), or not (version 2). My photo of the inside is of version 2 (without egg yolk and peanuts) but the Chinese mushroom and the dried shrimps are hidden. Decades later, their Cantonese Joong is still better than any other place in the entire Seattle area. I vouch for that! The cost is very low; it's the best deal. Some quick comments about the restaurant itself. It's a small outfit with their primary business on the Chinese BBQ itself - take-outs and with rice lunch box. They do have a normal menu, but tends to be less popular. Their clientele is predominately local Chinese. They speak English perfectly fine ; do not be intimated. Their BBQ is also lower cost than most other places, possibly the lowest in all of ID.

Yelp
I have been into this little restaurant several times. The woman working is always extremely nice and the portions are large. The barbecued chicken & Pork are excellent. I am not a big duck fan but they do a good job on the duck as well.

Waru W.

Yelp
Great bang for buck place. The taste is decent and they give big portions. The price is on the cheaper end as well. I come here often for their rice plates with veggies & meat. Their BBQ items are also cheaper compared to other places.

Yelp
Ton Kiang BBQ 3 stars parents picked up stuff from this place b4 thru-out the yrs. like Chinese rice dumplings which r pretty decent (the 1s where fatty pork n Chinese sausage is filled inside sticky rice that is wrapped in banana leaf) so I noticed from the help of Yelp that they not only have bbq but have a rice n noodles menu where food was relatively inexpensive.. so let's give them a try (can I get u 2 punch a hole in the wall?) came in.. when I was about 2 b up next, a man who looks like he goes there all the time cuts me as the butcher was talking 2 him n ignored me, so I looked him in his eyes n spoke 2 the man, "You didn't even wait in line" n he said, I'll wait n he moved his a$$ over.. so I proceeded 2 order the 2 choices of bbq pork n roasted chicken rice dish n walked on over 2 a table 2 get a seat dish came shortly.. n a guy that shared the table around me was asking like an Ooh wat is that type of question.. I said bbq pork n chicken rice n as I told him.. a bowl of homemade Chinese soup came.. it was bland, it had dry cole greens w/ chunks of pork n beans so anyways.. I guess I get no fork.. have 2 eat w/ the spoon provided n some chopsticks.. u know, 4 me when it comes 2 rice I like having a fork.. only do I use chopsticks only when it comes 2 noodle.. so I had 2 b forced in2 using chopsticks n of course my left hand was 4 the chicken.. so here comes the action.. the bbq pork tasted pretty close 2 bbq pork that u will find in Hong Kong (HK), but wasn't tender enough 2 have that melt in ur mouth feel that HK brings.. roasted chicken wasn't fragrant, but it was tender n needed some Chinese bbq lo may sauce or something.. so I had 2 put some soy (sauce) in it bbq was decent.. Kau Kau is better.. but if u want a little HK taste 2 it, u may want 2 come here so during the time of checking out, waitress directed me 2 pay up front near the butcher area.. they had 2 cash out the take out orders 1st like there were hundreds of orders n I noticed a sign that read if u plan 2 use a card, the minimum is $10 n the guy that sat around my table was done as well so he already had his cash ready n when it was finally my turn after all those take out orders, the waitress took his money 1st.. I guess I am an invisible man that after him I had 2 point @ her in order 2 get her attention 2 pay when u come here there's no such thing as anything called a line

Yelp
4.5 stars! Huge portions and great flavors, I love how widespread cantonese and hong kong style food is up here. Highly recommend brisket noodle soup and 3 meat combo. Take it to nearby park and enjoy people watching.

Yelp
The fastest and most worth your money meal you can get in Chinatown! They give you a big portion and it's cheaper than most places in Chinatown. Only catch is if you're coming in during lunch rush and plan on sitting down to eat, good luck. The shop is very small and most times you will have to get to-go!

Yelp
A friend and I felt like eating Chinese BBQ and I've had their BBQ here before, so why not come by for lunch. This place is small, like real small. There's like only 5 tables available, they had to clear a table of some personal items, newspapers and reading glasses so we could sit down. Menu is real simple and straightforward. I decided to keep it real simple and just get the BBQ Pork and Roast Pork w/ Rice plate. My friend got similar dish but with noodles instead. My rice plate came out in like less than 1 minute, all they did was scoop up some rice, cut the meat up and then boom.....served! Noodles took a few extra minutes to serve up but not long. Lunch was ok, they served a lot of fatty pieces that were tough to eat or just too much fat to eat. But the leaner pieces were pretty good. The lean BBQ Pork pieces were good & tasty. The crisper parts of the roast pork was good too. My friend thought her lunch was ok too, similar fatty pieces for her plate as well. They give you a small bowl of soup too. Service was fine, they were quick with everything and pretty nice. They are quick with a lot of the BBQ takeout orders so that is an option if there are no tables. Prices are very reasonable, lunch for 2 was under $20. This place is definitely a hole in the wall type of place in Chinatown, cleanliness is not spic & span, in case you care about the looks of a place.

Yelp
I was looking for an authentic spot for roast duck and pork and this place did not disappoint! I bought the two meat combo which came with rice and sautéed cabbage. The combo was perfect for every bite. The pork was juicy with the just the right balance of savory and sweet. The duck was incredible with crispy bits of skin and fat. I likely won't try another spot now, so delicious!

Yelp
I like this spot for roast duck and Hainan chicken. I came here to order half a pound of each and an order of the sticky rice (version I) which is amazing! I would come here again for the roasted meat and even try out the wontons - because who doesn't like wontons? I docked off a star because I wasn't a huge fan of the sweet/sticky/unnatural looking-bright-orange sauce that came with the roasted duck. It isn't the authentic kind you get in Chinatown in NYC or HI.

Yelp
I found myself in Chinatown today on Thanksgiving to pick up some desserts and decided to also pick up lunch to go. I was going to go to Kau Kau (just moved to Seattle 6months ago, heard a lot about Kau Kau but still never had a chance to try it) but the line was crazy long- like 3 blocks. So was wandering around trying to figure out where else to get take out and passed by Ton Kiang. No lines, hole in the wall, bunch of old ppl waiting for their food and cheap prices- SOLD. So I decided to take a shot and try it. Man- best decision ever- got the char siu and roast pork and both were delicious!!!! We got the rice plates to go and man- they both were so heavy. The portions were amazing for $8 each. Definitely coming back here again!!! I just don't understand the line at Kau Kau. Yes it might be better but not wait in line for 1+ hour better...and you know when there's a bunch of old Chinese grandmas and grandpas ordering, you can trust the food

Yelp
I was searching for one of the best roasted ducks in Seattle area and ran across Ton Kiang! The whole roasted duck is not on the menu but you can get it in any size; ie: a quarter order, half, whole! A whole roasted duck is only $23! They sliced the duck up beautifully for me for the dinner gathering I was attending! I popped it back in the oven that was kept at "warm" for an hour or so. I thought the duck was going to dry out - but it didn't! It was moist and juicy still!!! It was a hit at the dinner gathering. Also, the roasted duck came with two types of sauce which we didn't use - but with the duck alone, it tasted amazing! Will be ordering more roasted duck in the near future and try other things on their menu!

Yelp
Ordered a whole roast duck and 1.5 pounds of roast pork for $50. I would give the duck at 4.5/5 but the roast pork was super fatty and barely any meat. The only good thing about the roast pork was the crispy skin. Literally it was a waste of money to pay $20 for pork fat. Stick to the roast duck and you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Love this place so good! We got the basics: a whole duck, gai lan, and I think noodles. All very yummy and a great price. The people were very nice too.

Yelp
The service here is really good and foods are tasty. The portions are really big that I would suggest two people sharing one BBQ combination with rice, which is the most popular dish. Even if you are sharing, they would still provide tea and soup for each single person that is very sweet. The price is also very reasonable. It is also good to order to go for parties, but make sure you call and order earlier since they sold out soon. Moreover, the store opens pretty early on the morning, so you could enjoy nice BBQ with rice in such a quiet morning. Parking is street park, and there are few loading spaces that you could pick up your to go orders.

Yelp
This little hole-in-the-wall was a nice surprise. There's nothing glamorous about Ton Kiang, but the food is fresh and tasty. My guy and I wanted a quick lunch and we weren't wanting a long wait at one of the popular dim sum spots in Chinatown. Searching Yelp, we read good reviews for Ton Kiang and they had a GOOD health score, so we chose to pop in for lunch. We ate roasted duck, chicken, and lo mein with Chinese broccoli à la carte. There are plenty more hidden gems in Chinatown and I look forward to discovering more of them!

Yelp
This place is awesome! We came here for a late lunch and each ordered the three-meat BBQ combination which includes, duck, chicken and pork...all for 10 bucks! Holy smokes, isn't that what a lunch out costs in downtown Seattle or something? The meat comes with salad and rice, and when I asked the employee to not put rice on my plate - she asked if I wanted more salad. Heck yeah! AND, in addition to the combo - you also get complimentary tea and soup, which is still unbelievable that this entire meal is 10 bucks! Most of all, the BBQ is awesome here! Of my favorite meats, I love the pork. It was so smoky and tender, and just had great flavor. But that's not to say the chicken and duck were subpar. In fact, during our time - there were several people, picking up takeout of a whole chicken or duck! I usually find that duck is too bony for me to enjoy, but the flavor was very good. Same with the chicken - which was not dry at all, as we know that can be that case for a chicken that's been roasted all day. They give you a huge portion, too. We're pigs so we each ordered our own - but the three-meat BBQ combo is easily sharable. Don't expect glitz or much of a dining area if you plan to dine-in, since there are only a few tables and the bathroom sink is in the hallway. BUT, you're not coming here for the glamour. You're coming here for the awesome BBQ meats! Get it on!

Yelp
I love this place! It's small but the food is great! Plus the service is always good as well! 10/10 would recommend

Yelp
Walked in, saw a roach, left... There isn't much more to say, but Yelp won't let me post this unless the review is longer so here we are.

Yelp
Best roasted and bbq meat in Seattle! Everything's good but I particularly recommend the roasted duck, roasted pork, bbq pork, and cold free range chicken. I've tried all the neighbors, none measure up, these guys know what they're doing, and do it better than everyone else. Classic hole in the wall spot that blows your mind and palate. Super friendly too, just go early because they're not open late. They can cook your holiday bird for you as well-- get your order in!

Yelp
HITWs (Hole in the walls) are the way to go! Those of you looking for a place to eat in Chinatown probably don't even know where to start, and you'll likely overlook this hidden gem otherwise known as Ton Kiang! Come here for all of your BBQ meat needs! Although the roast pork does not come close to rival that of Kau Kau's, the other meats here are pretty decent. Roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, it's all good here. Prices are cheap too in this family-owned shop: for a three meat combination that costs a little over $10 including tax, you get three (hence the name) choices of meats, a thing of rice, a side of veggies (Taiwanese cabbage the last time I checked), and a bowl of soup. YES the portion is HUGE, but hey some of us like it like that. I also like the fish congee here. I haven't tried the other congees, but the fish congee was flavorful, contained decent sized pieces of cod, and had some pieces of ginger inside for flavoring. Perfect for a rainy, gloomy Seattle day.

Yelp
This is my favorite Cantonese style BBQ shop in Metro Seattle. First thing first, constant "excellent" or "good" health scores. Food. Five stars. The roasted duck, roasted chicken, BBQ pork, roasted pork, and rice dumplings (zongzi) are all delicious. I like the cabbage comes with the combo meal too. They make everything daily fresh in house. Price. Extremely affordable. For 20 bucks + tax you can get a whole roasted duck. For about ten bucks, you can get a combo meal that is enough to feed anyone; or share between two average adults. Service. Five stars everything considered. I usually get togo from here and the owner (the lady works in the front) is always nice and super efficient (chop up the BBQ super fast). If you dine in for the BBQ items, they also serve you some meat soup which is way better than the standard egg drop or hot sour soup.

Yelp
Nice place to get take out if you're into a fast simple meal. Portions are good sized. I got a beef brisket lo main and a BBQ pork over rice. Both was tasty and affordable
