Tony Di Maggio’s Pizza Expands in San Jose With More Stromboli | Eater SF

"A 42-year-old stromboli destination has expanded with a second downtown San Jose location at 155 W. San Fernando Street, taking over the former Pizza Chicago space which now has new floors and a new bar. It serves Tony Di’s familiar menu of pizzas, stromboli, pastas, Italian subs, and cannoli. The stromboli comprises ham, sausage, salami, mustard, and cheese wrapped in buttery dough with tomato sauce spooned on top or on the side." - Janelle Bitker

Heard they just re-opened after a roof fire. Couldn’t believe it I haven’t ever been here!? Oh was I missing out. The cheese pizza was just an added bonus because I actually came in for their Stromboli. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

We had stromboli and combination pizza today. It's was very fresh, flavorful and hot. Service was excellent as usual. Restaraunt was clean and organized.

Ordered a Stromboli and asked for EXTRA sauce, when ordered was done I noticed there was no extra sauce so I asked for it again. They shrugged their shoulders with a grin on their faces. I did call back there to tell them what they did and they said usually they do not give extra sauce and if they do there is usually an extra fee. I replied, if they would have mentioned this I was willing to pay. Customer Service could be better with communication.

We ordered a large combo pizza last night expecting a great pizza that we have been used to getting here for years...It was very skimpy on ingredients and the crust was sooo thin. The pizza was too dry as if it needed more sauce. WOW -- they have definitely gone downhill since they opened up again after the fire. Very disappointed and sad to say we will not be back.

Always delicious. The flavors haven’t changed in years and it’s magnificent. Family operated and super authentic. We split a large Stromboli and each had a salad n soda, and lunch was less than 40 bucks. I’ve been here several times and am glad it’s stayed open thru these years. No fuss, straight forward and delicious.

Great little Italian restaurant located in South San Jose off of Monterrey Road. Best known for their Stromboli, this place serves traditional New York style Italian cuisine. I had the 8 inch meatball sandwich with cheese. The meatballs were light and flavorful and there was plenty of cheese and marinara sauce placed on top. My mom had the Rigatoni with meat sauce complimented with a side of garlic bread. Pasta was cooked to perfection. I will definitely be coming here in the future, and will be sure to try the Stromboli.

We bgan coming here when we moved to CA in 1973. We loved this place and the stromboli WAS the best. We no longer live in San jose and last weekend drove down to the area and stopped by for a stromboli. THEY HAVE GONE DOWNHILL 😔 the strombolis were soo skimpy, 1 slice of ham and hardly any sausage. In addition, the wonderful sauce momma used to make there tasted watered down and horrible. Idk what happened but for $25.00 a stromboli, totally not worth it anymore. Sad..... will not be stopping by on our drive anymore.

After so many years, the Stromboli still a great treat. They reopen recently and we were happy to see them back on business.
