Sometimes I think reviewing places like Tony's is a waste of time and energy, but what the hell? So I placed and order for chicken cheese steak, fries, spicy half smoke, bacon and cheese sandwich. Chicken cheese steak was dry and tasted old. Half smoke was actually a Johnsonville spicy smoke sausage. That's just wrong and rude. I realize half smokes are a DC thing and as a Native, I know a half smoke. That was not a half smoke. I requested cheese, onion and mustard. It came with ketchup, mustard, relish and onions. And it was a lot of all of it. YUK. The fries were dark, over cooked and dry. No one wanted them.
I called the restaurant. The manager was pleasant and actually read my order back to me and said yes it was wrong and apologized for the dry nasty chicken cheese steak. I think places like this have existed so long and have been successful that they have lost the art of taking pride in presenting and preparing food.
Oh let me not forget the request for a side of cole slaw only to get potato salad. The manager said since they have 3 locations the online ordering menu is not updated for each restaurant. WTH!?!?! First of all if yall cared, it would be updated. Secondly, you have the option to call me and let me decide what I want. Don't just send me what you think is a good substitute.
I'm sure my review won't make that much of a difference, but maybe Tony and 'nem will work on the things that customers have complained about in their reviews. The reality is, as consumers in the DC area, we have too many options than to settle for mediocre products.
