This place deserves less than zero stars! Seems like they're just in business for money because the food is absolutely trash. Nothing was good. I ordered scrabbled egg whites and received a mixture of water and yellow mush. It was inedible. The grits were the absolute worse grits I've ever had. Absolutely no flavor, the breakfast potatoes were bland, no seasoning or anything not even onions and peppers. The fried apples weren't fried at all, they were boiled and came in a cup of flavored water. Overall I'd never recommend this place to anyone

I ordered their fried wings too because I heard they were good here and nope Popeyes is way better. I ordered "fresh fruit" that was supposed to be melon and mango and it was some hard not even yellow pineapple.

If I could give them 0 or negative stars, I would. Every time I order from here there is something wrong. I try to give local shops a chance but this one is more a miss than it ever hits. Now mind you the food is cheap, but that doesn't mean I will just take whatever you all put in a box. Do you all even look at the orders? or just make random plates and send them out. DO better.. The photo attached is my order of SAUSAGE LINKS, SCRAMBLED EGGS (no cheese) TOAST AND HOME FRIES. I received corned beef hash, eggs with cheese, no toast and old home fries.

I suggest applying seasoning to the home fries b/c they are bland. The potatoes are cooked well though not undercooked or over cooked. The veggie omelet no cheese was yummy and I would recommend it. Good prices. Good customer service. Friendly staff.

My cousin ( male this time) Swears this is the best "Big" Breakfast spot in the DMV. Perhaps if your job is near. It's not big enough for 10 folk to be inside. They get you in and out.. ( C-19) or not. Good idea to order ahead. Pleasant staff though., when they look at you. 😇

The appearance would make you think not to go in. But you must GO IN! The food is the best. And the best grits I've had since I left the south! And the prices are sooo cheap.

I typical don’t have any issues but on this day I received a sandwich and noticed that the bread was becoming blue as if it was molded.The sandwich back and asked for a refund .They refused to give me my money back only telling me to call the complaint Line number.When calling then nothing was resolved they kept telling me it was jelly.

Full disclosure I ordered this off of Postmates. I absolutely love this place! It is a mom and pop, hole in the wall type of place but it serves good quality food. I can't speak about service or decor but I can tell you that the food is great! I am partial to their breakfast platter, mostly because it is cheap and they give you a ton of food! I could eat half and have leftovers for later. They also had turkey bacon and sausage alternatives which was really helpful for me. I've also had their turkey burger (which is also cheap) that comes with fries and a drink. It pretty good. Nothing fancy just a regular burger, but with turkey burger you always wonder whether or not they will be dry but his one was juicy. The only thing that I did not like was the Navy bean soup. It was a little bland, I had to add my own salt. Also this might be a pet peeve for some but was I had a piece of chicken skin in my soup. But overall the experience was great! Good little neighborhood place.

A breakfast on the go . I ordered scrabble eggs , turkey sausage, potatoes & onions and toast .... Sad to say I was not happy with what I received , they gave me pork link sausage day old potatoes and just slapped butter on my toast with very little jelly, because I don't eat pork sad to say the pork sausage made me sick

Quick breakfast and delicious every time. Friendly staff and know you're not going for a sit down experience. You're going so YOU don't have to be in the kitchen. In 20 min, i grabbed breakfast for 6 people who all wanted something different. Thanks, @Tony's Place!

Great place for quick breakfast, lunch or dinner. My breakfast was made to order. I was going to take it out but there is counter space available if you want to eat in. This location is kind of small but they have lots of business. Service is friendly and polite I had the pancake breakfast combo with bacon and scrambled eggs. It was yummy. I will come back here, you should give it a tey.

Ordered on door dash, food was over priced for just heating up corned beef hash, and 3 dollars for a single pupusa without salsa or the regular slaw (repollo)? it tasted better than the corned beef. The Mac and cheese. oh. my. god. FUCKING DISGUSTING. I ALMOST THREW UP off a single bite brother. that garbage tasted like they had someone hand clean a garbage disposal and then put all that stuff into the Mac and cheese. I hope this place goes out of business just based on this experience alone.

Horrible place to eat. I saw mouses and roaches. The people are so rude and disrespectful. They give so much attitude for no reason. They hang up in your face and ignore you while you're talking. The food is eh. not bad but not good. They don't wear gloves when they make food. don't eat here at all! Save your money. The place could be more clean.

The service is terrible, they are disrespectful to the customer. This is my second time there and they were rude for no reason. I can only hear in one ear so because I couldn't hear my ticket number he hung up. Then when I got to the store I explained that and ask for apologize and he would not as if he was right. People stop paying money for bad rude service

Worst customer service experience ever! Do yourself a favor and go to the other Tony's across the street instead. Cashier tried to overcharge me for wings. To be spiteful about me asking to wait for fresh cooked wings and disagreeing with how I was being overcharged, the cook under cooked my wings and then purposely didn't season them, not one drop of salt or pepper. She also mixed fresh cooked wings with the old ones sitting in the heater. I ordered 4 wings and potatoes. When I asked for two more wings the cashier quoted me $16 from a $9 order for just adding two additional wings when the menu on the wall listed extra wings are $1.25. Then the cashier tells me "No, each wings is $1.75. The menu on the wall is wrong." Even then it would not have added up to $16. Honestly, I was just giving Tony's Place a try to see how it compared to Ton'y Breakfast across the street which has way more transparent pricing, better quality food and much friendlier staff. I see why one location always has a line of customers and the other always seems empty.

Sometimes I think reviewing places like Tony's is a waste of time and energy, but what the hell? So I placed and order for chicken cheese steak, fries, spicy half smoke, bacon and cheese sandwich. Chicken cheese steak was dry and tasted old. Half smoke was actually a Johnsonville spicy smoke sausage. That's just wrong and rude. I realize half smokes are a DC thing and as a Native, I know a half smoke. That was not a half smoke. I requested cheese, onion and mustard. It came with ketchup, mustard, relish and onions. And it was a lot of all of it. YUK. The fries were dark, over cooked and dry. No one wanted them. I called the restaurant. The manager was pleasant and actually read my order back to me and said yes it was wrong and apologized for the dry nasty chicken cheese steak. I think places like this have existed so long and have been successful that they have lost the art of taking pride in presenting and preparing food. Oh let me not forget the request for a side of cole slaw only to get potato salad. The manager said since they have 3 locations the online ordering menu is not updated for each restaurant. WTH!?!?! First of all if yall cared, it would be updated. Secondly, you have the option to call me and let me decide what I want. Don't just send me what you think is a good substitute. I'm sure my review won't make that much of a difference, but maybe Tony and 'nem will work on the things that customers have complained about in their reviews. The reality is, as consumers in the DC area, we have too many options than to settle for mediocre products.

I never felt so mistreated before in my life with just so much disrespect I came here in the morning to pick up some breakfast and as I walk in the store their is only one gentlemen in the store so he says you can go infront of me . So as I'm waiting with no acknowledgment two ladies walk in the store the cashier immediately assist them I'm not sure if it's a race thing because I'm not their kind but with being a Minority we need to stick together I just felt that was very bad taste and I wouldn't want any of my family or friends to spend money that place .. with that being said I did report it to the manager even though he was standing right there but all he had for me was a sorry which just isn't enough sometimes we need more accountability

I love Tony's. I wish he stayed open later! The food is amazing and the service is good. I would just suggest you go inside to order instead of over the phone.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE.... they hang up on you over and over. They don't read notes on your Uber Eats delivery. They screw up orders and don't admit it. Shitty ass attitudes. Hire someone who specifically works the phone. Come on. Get it together- it's 2021. Flip side...Decent cheap food. Chicken & waffles on point, Not really sure how much I'll order from here in the future. 1/10

I really dig this spot. It's perfect if you're looking for budget grease. If you're looking for a fancy hipster spot, look elsewhere. But if you want something cheap and tasty Tony's is for you.

This place has the worst customer service and can never admit that they mess up an order. Never will I order from them again. Food ain't worth the money at all anyway especially when they can't get the order right! Horrible place to eat. Zero!

Order a ribeye meal. Grits were bland. Eggs were good. Ribeye was burnt and I was unable to eat it.

I was in the area and noticed the place. So I decided to support small business in the area and gave this place a try. It was quite good for a small place! The only thing that I'd caution about is the beef hash, it's super oily. Mango smoothie was on point! Definitely recommend giving this place a try!

Super disappointed after reviews from co-workers who enjoyed what appeared to be a wonderful breakfast. I ordered roasted chicken and let's just say it was burnt. When I bit into the chicken the meat was super dry and appeared to be reheated my stomach hurts now and the food was nowhere near acceptable. Maybe this spot should stick to breakfast. UberEATS will have you ordering from anywhere. Ugh. Not happy!

Yo, This is the spot. Fuck what everybody else says about the "Hungry Man Platter" there's more to this diner than that. Most of the menu is set BUT can be made to order. Rico is always keeping things moving on the register and the short order chefs are on point, but what makes this place unique and necessary is that the sole proprietor, a Hispanic woman (whose name I've yet to find out but will) runs it tight and right! I've yet to see a botched order forreal forreal. Hell, their completion percentage from the field is higher than the Skins real live. She brings that tiny diner to life and half the time she's on the grill and I appreciate that most about Tony's. The food is ALWAYS fresh and I love the atmosphere. It's intrinsic to the neighborhood's vibe and unapologetically real. It's rough exterior keeps the ignorant away which adds to its charm! Tony's is a staple on KDY, don't forget it!

This food goes crazy especially for the price. I personally get the Hungryman's Platter with french toast instead of pancakes. A must try in DC for quick, cheap, and hearty breakfast.

This my third time going to this place. I liked because is Spanish Food. The second time the tortilla smell like it wasn't good, the gentleman exchanged for me; but it was same thing. Today I got a black long hair on my potato salad! So disgusting! I Paid $11.04 for grilled chicken , and two sides; just to throw it away! Cook ladies should use a hair net!!

I'd stopped going to Tony's for several weeks because them not only consistently getting my order incorrect, but even more egregious having me on hold on the phone for 20 minutes and never returning, and then closing at 2:30PM even though the manager confirmed in front of me that they close at 3PM. Today, they'd closed the doors just after 2PM even though I'd placed my order around 1:45PM. When I'd asked the kid who was working there why they keep changing their hours, he said that they always close at 3PM. I'd asked if it was 3PM, he said yes it was even though it was about 2:15PM. This place and its unprofessionalim make it trash. I was right to have not gone back before.

I was in town for a few days and this place showed up in my maps app. Decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised. The food was tasty, the service was friendly and the princes were very reasonable. We ended up eating breakfast there every morning of our trip. Will visit again next time we pass through the DMV.

We always get breakfast here. You can't beat the prices! You get a ton of food. And, the workers are always friendly. I am happy to support this business. It was the first place I tried when I moved into the neighborhood. I didnt intend to try it, but there was so many people outside waiting, I got curious. I'm so glad I did. When I have guests come in from out of town, I always get Tony's breakfast and they are always impressed. I typically order the Hungry Man breakfast... but when I'm there, I hear people order many different items. It's a hidden gem!

I really don't know why people choose to come and gentrify DC just to complain about the "neighborhood". I eat here early in the morning and nothing has happened to me. Go back to Iowa or wherever if you're scared of "people" (we know what you mean) who mind their business and feel you have to "avoid eye contact". Lol. THE NEIGHBORHOOD IS FINE. Then again, if it gets popular with gentrifiers it might get trendy and expensive... So, Nevermind. Remain scared! Lol. Scary black people! Aaah! Anyway, the food. Great value! I've been going here for years and I always get something different, even though I'm a picky eater. The tbone breakfast is so yummy, and they really know how to cook eggs. I like a good scrambled egg and they never overcook it. Friendly staff... Only thing is of course it is crowded... Wish they had a place for people ordering to go instead of having to hover over diners like we are in some Oliver Twist situation lol. Love it! Thumbs up!

This greasy spoon mom and pop gets it right on mere dimes. Hearty and homestyle. You can call ahead and pick up on the go. Few places to sit. It's not a place to linger but a quick lunch counter meal is possible. I like their pancake breakfasts. They have quick snavks like cut fruit and deviled eggs. Looks like they may expand.

I stumbled upon Tony's Place while walking around. This place appeared on Google maps when I searched for a place to eat breakfast which was inexpensive. The only reason you would know about this restaurant if you walked by it would be because of the sign outside. There are no tables inside but only a counter with round stool seats you can sit on. You order and pay first then eat. I ordered the "Hungryman Platter" which consisted of two scrambled eggs, two pieces of bacon, a sausage patty, and two buttermilk pancakes for about $6 or $7! The food was delicious & a great value. The cooks & guy who took my order were friendly.

2nd day in DC I woke up REEEALY early by mistake. So I figured I'd drive around and see if I could get me and the gf some good to go breakfast. I searched around and saw that this place had super high ratings. I walked in to what appeared to be one of the smallest diners I've ever seen in my life. Seats only about 6/8. The service here is absolutely quick, and I ordered quite a bit of food. The quality of the food still is there, even though they do it fast, which is amazing. Ordered the chicken and waffles, a egg sandwich, steak and cheese sandwich, and a breakfast platter. This place seriously had the best waffle/pancake batter that I've ever tried. It didn't taste like your regular pancake/waffle. It was super fluffy and sweet, and tasted amazing. Chicken was also fried perfectly and had a nice skin. Giving this place a solid A+!

I, like others love my break-fast from Tony's for years. And I hardly eat the Break Fast meal (non-pork), and Tony's "Got me!"

This place is great! Crowded on weekend mornings so be patient. You can get a hungry man platter for $8 (2 pancakes, 2 eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage) you cannot beat that in DC. My only regret is that they do not have a seating area with tables, they only have a high top table with stools but I think they are working on that. Bottom line, if you need a quick cheap and generous breakfast, go there !

In DC for an event this weekend and decided to venture from the hotel (DuPont circle) area. Decided to consult the wonderful Yelp app to help is decide where to eat. Came across Tonys place and gave it a try. Located middle of a residential neighborhood, few doors down from a Funeral home. The menu! So extensive, serves breakfast lunch and dinner all day. Anything from yucca, to grits to lasagna and seafood. Pretty good service, of course it's a slight wait if your ordering anything other than breakfast (breakfast food cooks faster) I would try again, and possibly a third time. However I would call and order next time, if ordering anything other than breakfast. Great little spot.

Basic diner food...I used to come here years ago and always liked it, but I had it again recently and was highly disappointed. I'm not sure what happened. I had a pork chop and some liver and onions and both were so dry to the point they were tasteless. I'm giving it 3 stars still because it's convenient, cheap, and if the breakfast is like it used to be, pretty decent. Also, this isn't a sit down place FYI, just get in, get your food, and keep it moving.

Love this place! The meals are affordable and the food is delicious. I usually order via DoorDash and normally get the Hungryman's platter which is great.

In a bit of a sketchy area, but this mom & pop shop dishes out fast, filling, and cheap comfort food. Definitely a locals only vibe, not a place to linger. Save yourself the trek and order Uber eats from this place. You can't beat these $3 sandwiches and HUGE $6 platters that are enough to satisfy you all day. $9 for a day's worth of food? That's my kind of meal prep.

It would have been nice to take a picture of the food but it was so good we both couldn't stop eating. Visiting my friend in DC and this came up on Yelp! For breakfast! I got the Hungrymans platter &she got the chicken & waffles w/ some mango from the fridge. Everything is reasonably priced & the food is good! Definitely a place to visit again!

I always eat here whenever I'm tired of the carry outs in this neighborhood. Food here is great and even though it seems like its a dangerous neighborhood (because of the men standing outside and this place is right next to a liquor store) its pretty safe and no one bothers me. The service is great and the cashier/order takers are friendly. Food gets to you fast and the location is a few buildings away from where I work. I'm a germaphobe and I think the place could use a little cleaning.... Okay, a lot of cleaning. Scrubbing most importantly where they cook the food and where the air vents are at. Overall, great breakfast and lunch!

I really like this place. They always move the line quickly and make your food on the spot. It's not a lot of seasoning but it's 100 times better than stopping at gross McDonalds. The prices are extremely fair as well as the portions. I literally wish they stayed open all day as they are one of my top choices for something quick in my petworth neighborhood. They serve everything from breakfast to full blown dinner entrees. It's a win win

Real quick- food was excellent, neighborhood is a lil rough tho. Don't come cross town or anything, but enjoy it if your in the area. Sausage was straight money in the bank son.

The chicken cheesesteak is amazing! Always a friendly atmosphere that makes you feel right at home! I wish they were open later!

I was going here daily but who ever the chick is that answers the phone is the rudest person she puts you on hold or even leaves the phone off the hook I know this because I called for 30 minutes it was busy My husband goes down there to place the order and I told him to see if she's on the phone he said No so I called and she puts me on hold just like I expected My husband said she was standing talking not talking orders not ringing people up but just standing there I told him I wasn't even spending my money there anymore and mind you we eat there everyday but Sunday spending anywhere from $15 to $40 daily But today she changed that I will not be spending my money there anymore then when I asked to speak to the manager she wants to know why and my name Oh you didn't want to take my order but you want to know my name lol Not

Excellent neighborhood staple. Classic, simple and delicious diner food. The hungryman's platter (comes with pancakes but can get it with French toast) is double the amount of food for a third of what you'd pay at neighborhood breakfast places in Petworth and Columbia Heights. The club sandwiches are good as well. Don't come expecting anything new. It's really more a place to go when you know what you want and want it done well. I recommend ordering it for pickup in advance if you're going for breakfast because there's not a lot of seating and it can get very busy.

Super friendly service at this little neighborhood gem on Kennedy. This is exactly how a greasy spoon joint is supposed to be. Great food, great vibe, delicious food with lots of options.

You won't find anything organic, free range, or local. This isn't the place to come for something light and healthy, or if you are seeking a "cute" Breakfast spot. THANK FUCKIN' G*D. The rest of the city is overrun with that. This is a little neighborhood spot to get a real fucking breakfast at a good price. Yes, the butter on those grits is an unnatural shade of yellow, but damn do they taste good.

I love this place.... It's quick fast and in a hurry! I guess you can consider it diner/carry out. OH and she gets pretty packed... Standing room only! That's THE ONLY THING I HATE! Crowded places make me uncomfortable! Other than that it's cool... Breakfast basics. And CHICKEN WINGS! My granny thinks I'm the only person in the world who eats wings at 8am. Apparently not they sell them at that hour. Don't be afraid! Go inside! The staff is really cool!! And the price is right!!

Great neighborhood counter to grab breakfast. This place has the typical short order menu and does it well. I got great, friendly service from the lady taking orders. The food came out fast and tasted like the simple southern cooking I grew up on.

Ok.. at 2 pm I have to walk through 6 young men standing around not doing much to get my lunch. Which was excellent by the way. I like the food but what's with all the people out front just standing. Conference? Food is great. They are expanding the location and the menu online is all sorts of messed up so of you order confirmation everything including the prices.
