I had a delicious eggplant Parmesan sandwich and fries in April 2025. Excellent service and food. You can’t go wrong here. And there is a bar during late hours.

Hidden Gem for a Killer Philly Cheesesteak – Top Tomato Bar Tucked away in the heart of the city, Top Tomato Bar is an absolute hidden gem—especially if you’re hunting for the perfect Philly cheesesteak. From the very first bite, I knew I found something special. The ribeye was cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Add in that smooth, melty Cooper sharp cheese, and it’s game over. It practically melts in your mouth and leaves you wanting more. The grilled onions gave it the right touch of sweetness, and the toasted roll held it all together like a true classic. But it doesn’t stop there. I also tried a slice of the Buffalo pizza and Sam’s Special—both were top-tier. Crispy crust, flavorful toppings, and that perfect balance of cheese and sauce. Pizza lovers won’t be disappointed. The service? Outstanding. Friendly, quick, and welcoming. You can tell this place has regulars—and for good reason. There’s even an upstairs space, which I can only imagine gets packed and rowdy in the best way on game days. I’ll absolutely be back—especially for that cheesesteak. Philly, take note: Top Tomato Bar is the real deal

Can’t believe what I got delivered compared to what they have pictured for their traditional and buffalo chicken pizzas. Looks like the worst lunch room pizza I’ve ever had and the buffalo pizza doesn’t even have all the ingredients they advertise. The only reason pieces are missing is because I tried to bake some of them longer in the oven because the cheese was barely melted in most spots. I usually just leave a review when I get bad food, but for the first time ever, I felt compelled to call the store and share how bad this experience was. Paid $50 for this abomination after adding gluten free crust, fees, and taxes. Don’t waste your money.

Google
Came to Top Tomato on Sips day it's was crowded as what I expected the upstairs is set up like a bar/lounge while downstairs is restaurant setting. I ordered a few things from HH menu which has plenty options, nothing special the Tiki Punch(Rum punch) was the star

Google
20/10 The service was great. The food was delicious. An the atmosphere was very relaxed, mature, and chic but classy. The establishment was clean. The price for 6 drinks and 6 appetizers was under $100 during happy hour. Definitely will be going back. Oh and the lower level is kid friendly due to them having a pizza shop below and a bar area upstairs it is accommodating to children as well.

Google
$17- for a personal pan pizza. It tasted like a pizza I can get at Acme. $11 - The breaded chicken ceasar wrap was much, much worse. The chicken tasted sour. It wasn't breaded. I had to stop eating and throw it out. This place is dishonest at best calling itself top anything. I will say the bar can be fun. The food was gross.

Barney Medunic

Google
Delicious food with an excellent selection of slices. Cool staff and fun environment.

Google
Grandma (Sicilian) Pizza 6.3/10. Needed more sauce. Maybe a normal slice is better. Cheese steak egg rolls were ok, could have been filled more. BBQ sauce on the boneless wings were good. Atmosphere is city so it is what it is. Service personnel were very friendly. Wait time for food was normal.

Yelp
We recently held a Welcome Dinner at Top Tomato and could not have been more pleased with every aspect of our experience. The food and service were outstanding. The attention paid to us by owner/operators Sam and Chris made us feel truly special. From planning to execution everything was flawless and no request we made was met with anything other than "of course we can". I can't wait to come back and would highly recommend for any type of party big or small or just a get together with friends.

Yelp
Came here after I found out my wife had passed away If you want to grieve over the inescapable loss of your soulmate while staring at a Philadelphia love sign and eating decent pizza this is the place to be

Yelp
A group of friends and I came out for trivia night. The establishment is very clean and the tables are adequately spaced out. The servers are very attentive and would come out frequently to make sure we are all okay and to see if we wanted to order more food/drinks. There are a lot of screens, which would make it a good place to watch a sporting event. However, my two stars rating is for the quality of the food. The menu includes classic bar food like fries, mozzarella sticks, etc and also has pizza/salads. We ordered the cheese fries, mozzarella sticks, and philly cheesesteak spring rolls, which were all really bad. The fries were soggy and the mozzarella sticks lacked the classic breading crunch when you bit into it. Some of the group complained their beers tasted stale. With so many sport bar establishments located in center city, I would recommend skipping this place.

Yelp
It's fine. If you're looking for pizza by the slice, I think that there are better options. I was not terribly impressed by either the NY style pepperoni or the Detroit-style pan. There are two floors and the ground floor was dead when I visited. Upstairs, the energy was much higher. It seemed like a mix of Temple students and local office workers taking advantage of the happy hour deals. And they were decent deals! Service was adequate. Again, it was fine.

Yelp
This was my first regular visit to Top Tomato at the corner of 11th and Sansom, right across from the Jefferson medical center. Last time was for a special Yelp event upstairs. I sat at a quad high top in the bar. It wasn't too busy for a midweek lunch - a few peeps at the bar and only a few tables occupied by hospital staff on break. I thought about trying their Jersey Tomato Pie, but ultimately went with the Eggplant Parm Sandwich. Solid choice. It was a big torpedo roll loaded with thin sliced nightshade, that appeared to be pan fried before filling the bread handle, ladled with good red sauce and covered with melted mozzarella. It was very enjoyable. In fact, the roll was exceptional. Crunchy and pleasantly chewy. It reminded me of a similarly rolled sandwich I had previously eaten, but I couldn't place where. I asked my superlative bartender/server, Tabitha about its source, so she went back to the kitchen to inquire. It was from Ba Le Bakery, the Vietnamese ovens on Washington Avenue in South Philly. Of course! I have had several Banh Mi sammies there and nearby pho joints. They were always memorable. French style with thinner crust than Italian, but still crisp shell and airy middles. Worked just great as the edible container for the eggplant, sauce and cheese. Score a big 5 Stars for Top Tomato, who took the chance to change up the expected bakery choices with an even better cultural diversion. Very cool!

Yelp
I'm not a huge fan of pizza, I know, SHOCKING, and I'm usually a bit more picky/less likely to try different kinds. However, this place made me a believer. I had the margherita pizza and one with just a square shaped pizza topped with tomatoes and both were fantastic. Every cocktail I tried was also yummy. I was here with a group but it's great for friends night out, a casual date, or even large groups with family. I loved the staff as well, they were all super helpful.

Yelp
Walked in after finally finding a place on New Year's Day that was open. Was greeted by the owner it seemed to be and was seated right away. There's a bar upstairs if you'd like to sit and drink with others. The sandwich was our top 10 sandwich ever. Something about how they fry their chicken makes it delicious. The pizza was on the sweeter sauce side but very good with a crisp to it. Zucchini was flaky and with dippings on the side made it great. Best food of the day that we've had in Philly

Yelp
Stopped in for one of their quizzo nights here and they have some good happy hour specials. Cheesesteak sliders were decent and a good deal. Pizza was as well. Lots of drink specials available with good selection. It does get very crowded and loud here as it's a popular spot, so grab a seat early. Overall pretty good.

Omega E.

Yelp
Great pizza, drinks were average and service was good. One drink ended up being a shot and in a larger glass. Not sure what that was about but they seemed to like it.

Yelp
A classic dive bar with great comfort food and drink deals! The staff are kind and service is quick - great pizza in particular! Recommend for a casual night with friends, watching sports, or relaxing in a comfortable environment. Definitely a younger crowd but still a lot of space to avoid crowds.

Yelp
Wow! I come to Top Tomato often for a slice on the go or to sit, have a slice and a High Noon Lol! This past Monday, I decided to stop by for Happy Hour and was truly glad that I did! Their selections for HH are phenomenal (great choices and prices)! It was quite a bit to choose from, but I'm super glad I went with the Cheesesteak Sliders (pictured). The roll used was perfect, the overall meal was good. My bartender was Abby! She was so kind, attentive and great with recommendations. Each time I visit, I'm always encountered with kind staff that are excited to assist and give great recommendations. My first experience here was on Thanksgiving (they were open) and I was truly grateful for the warm hospitality and engagement! Since then, I haven't experienced anything less. They do salsa nights, beer pong tournaments and great for sport watching!! The overall ambience here is one to be in! It's very clean, spacious and decorative. Cheers!

Yelp
I enjoy their food very much but they utilize delivery services that I have tried three time with very bad experiences. This of course is not entirely their fault, but certainly should take some responsibility or concern in the delivery partnerships they utilize especially for the delivery fees making the order at least double in cost. The first attempt, the food delivery time was 30 minutes past the time it said it was almost there. The second time, the driver left it at the wrong address right out front on the street. And the third time, after being 40 minutes late, I called the restaurant and they said they still didn't have a driver when the app was telling me it was moments away. Who knows how long the food was sitting there. When I discussed it with a person from the restaurant they just canceled the order instead of any type of customer service acknowledgment What the heck?!

Yelp
This place is great, excellent bartending service from Tabetha Ann, 5/5 stars . If you're a married man and slightly nice to her she also offers an "extra" service, though I heard that was only 2/5 stars
google avatar

Yelp
Good food, good prices, good quantity! Second time going here; both times were positive experiences.

Yelp
FOOD I came with a group of friends around 3 p.m., and we sat down in the general seating area versus the bar. We ordered BBQ chicken, eggplant, cheese, and Margherita slices and enjoyed them all. They are quite standard so there's not much of a uniqueness factor to go with them other than that you get what you order for. It is in close proximity to the Jefferson campus, so a lot of students frequent the place. DRINKS There are standard fountain drinks and beers/cocktails available. Some deals are available as well, such as a beer and a slice of pizza for $6. SERVICE The staff here are very friendly. Our waitress was patient and answered the multiple questions we had for our group and more. PARKING Street parking is available but at a limited capacity.
google avatar

Melissa G.

Yelp
I have only really had their salads and bruschetta, and they are dynamite. The services is very fast, but I have never eaten in.
google avatar

Kevin R.

Yelp
There is absolutely no justification to charge somebody $86 for two pizzas. I went here with my friends and for 16 reheated slices of pizza they charged me that much. Better yet this is how the pizza came... no matter how packed you are you should not take advantage of your customers and charge this much for pizza.
google avatar

Reena D.

Yelp
The staff here have been great every time. Friendly and attentive. I love that there is a good soccer crowd. Lots of tvs so good view all around. They have a pitcher and pizza special for HH, which fills you up, and good snacking food. Really good game time vibe.
google avatar

Morgan F.

Yelp
This pizza was pretty good but nothing special. My favorite part was the sauce. I think the price was very fair too.

Yelp
I was with a biiiiig group (20 or so) on a Saturday afternoon on a bar crawl. It was not busy at all when we arrived so were able to have a really good amount of space up on the 2nd floor! It had a nice ambiance with some regular tables for dining and a bar area with seating on both sides. I ordered one of the cocktails which was only $8 and pretty good! I split some apps with my friends - jalapeño poppers and mozzarella sticks, classics which were great and just as I would expect! Others also got some pizzas to share - I just had one slice of a cheese pizza that had the sauce on top, which was a little thin and maybe not cheesy enough for my preference but the sauce tasted good! Overall, it was a nice stop on our bar crawl. The bartenders were very nice and food came out quick!
google avatar

Connor H.

Yelp
Great staff. The bar upstairs was closed but I imagine it is fun when it is open. It is probably a more enjoyable experience with the upstairs bar, but overall, OK.

Trillis G.

Yelp
Service was very excellent tonight, staff was very friendly and professionalI highly recommend this business.

Yelp
Pizza is always on point! Servise is great and also helps us around the corner from my work! Highly recommend

Yelp
Too tomato moved locations and revamped its space. I do not recommend their new "bar lounge" area/service. The margherita pizza I got on that side of the restaurant was disgusting. See photos. Totally undercooked and even if it was cooked it wouldn't have been good. Everything fell off when I picked up a slice. Everything. And I was left with a bare soaking wet floppy slice. Literally so soaked. There was liquid juice all over the plate. Luckily their service is top notch. Our waitress/bar tender Jamie was super awesome and took it back and gave me a slice of their real pizza for free. Also pictured. So yes while too tomato still has a good pie, their bar lounge pizza is disgusting don't order it. My bf got a Caesar wrap tho and he said it was great (no cheese though which I think is unacceptable). So idk. Go with caution.
google avatar

Anna S.

Yelp
Pizzas were soggy overall and the bread was no flavored. You can find a better pizza place in Philly!
google avatar

Lily W.

Yelp
I came here last night with a group of 11 friends for quizzo. First of all, I love that you can reserve a table in advance for quizzo! Makes going with a big group much easier. I went upstairs and immediately ordered penne a la vodka, which came pretty fast and was absolutely delicious. I ate almost all of it and it was a big portion! It also came with sliced pita which was a bit odd. Quizzo itself was super fun, easy to hear the host, and not a crazy environment. The only con is that it was absolutely freezing inside. It felt like they literally were running the AC, we were all wearing our winter coats the entire time which was not a pleasant experience.
google avatar

Rosa P.

Yelp
They didn't cook the pizza and they overcook they fries!!! What the heck is goin on!?
google avatar

Gabriella W.

Yelp
Top Tomato is currently open for takeout and delivery. The staff is very friendly and kind, so I am happy to support their business during these difficult times. I have always been a huge fan of Top Tomato's takeout. Some of my favorites include their Red Top and the Philly Cheese steak pizzas. When things open back up, they have great bar specials including dollar slices! Definitely take advantage of these deals to try their delicious pizza.
google avatar

Jen W.

Yelp
This was my first time at Top Tomato, but certainly not my last! The appetizer was made with love; warm pita bread with bruschetta, olives, hummus, feta cheese, roasted red pepper. The sandwiches were amazing. The Meatball Parm sandwich (not picture) was the perfect balance of cheese to meatball ratio. The Chicken Pesto sandwich had rich pesto with roasted red peppers, shredded chicken with cheese and the roll was freshly baked. I would seriously go there to buy the roll alone, it was that good!! Can't wait to explore the menu more.

Anna H.

Yelp
please update bathrooms. one room for multiple men to use. one too for all genders to use. no just women option.

Yelp
Happy Hour Review Only Really can't complain about their happy hour deals, especially for this area! $4 for a beer + pizza or $3 long islands (spells trouble!) The pizza is solid, not just for the price, but solid pizza slices period! Would definitely recommend checking the spot out especially during sports games or for happy hour - can't beat the deal in the city.
google avatar

Melissa R.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots to order pizza from! My favorites are the cheesesteak pizza and Jersey tomato pie. It's also an nice spot to stop by in person to catch a game, a drink and a slice of pizza. Will definitely be back soon!
google avatar

Claudia Y.

Yelp
I can't even begin to describe what I ordered and what I received. This food is disgusting and a rip off, I got pieces of Ciabatta bread with globs of cheese melted on them .. this is their "garlic bread" , they forgot our pizza, they didn't pack the desert we wanted, sent us two DISGUSTING "Caesar salads"... We had to throw the entire order away, I wouldn't even expect a 3 year old to eat this mediocre falsely advertised food.
google avatar

Yunica J.

Yelp
Meh. We've gotten pizza here a couple of times because our favorite neighborhood pizza joint hasn't been taking Covid seriously. Top Tomato has been great on that front, but unfortunately, the food doesn't stack up. The pizza is just ok. The pasta dishes aren't great--the two I've tried have been a bit too watery and not flavorful enough. Also, I don't like the taste of pepperoni pizza, so we usually do 1/2 pepperoni 1/2 cheese. This might be a Slice app issue, but our order today specified half pepperoni, and lo and behold, we got a whole pepperoni pizza. I can pick the pepperoni off, but the cooking process brings the flavor of the pepperoni into the cheese, so even if I remove the pepperoni, the taste is still compromised. Oh well.
google avatar

Bobby G.

Yelp
Great place to enjoy music sports and great food staff is awesome and security is top notch ! We spend a lot of time there and everyone is like family. Bartenders are professionals and always on point
google avatar

Donte P.

Yelp
This place is right next to my job .... Food is great, drinks are definitely to please you taste budz.... I believe they have the best pizza in the area

Sofia W.

Yelp
We went to the bar today with friends to watch Argentina vs Mexico. The staff was very welcoming, they cheered with us, the food was amazing and the prices were very reasonable. Thank you so much!!
google avatar

Morgan B.

Yelp
Came here for happy hour on a Friday afternoon! Cool place with a chill vibe! We ordered their $5 slice and beer special. The pizza that comes with the special is cheese, but you can upgrade to one of their specialties for $1. So I got the Buffalo chicken pizzas it was pretty good, only complaint was that it was a tad dry. I think it had been sitting under the heat lamp for a bit too long. But was still tasty and I would order it again as a full pizza instead! Great place for happy hour! Definitely would go back!

Yelp
This place is an absolute joke. I was here for New Year's Eve for about an hour. I was standing at the top of the steps by the sign that has their name on it but to the right enough that I was in the way of absolutely nothing. Not in the way of guest, bartenders, security. Absolutely no one. If someone wanted to take a picture there was enough room that I wasn't in the way of that ether. I am also extremely considerate and would've moved if I was but I was not. Some man with a scarf ( it's 50 degrees tonight why do you need a scarf?) said I needed to move. He didn't ask politely. He said you need to move. So I questioned it. I am out of the way of everything. Not bothering a soul. My friends are having a good time. I have no illegal things in my pockets and I've had one drink. Just one. I don't like being in the middle of everyone. I find a place to stand and watch and enjoy myself. Ultimately I moved. I found a different spot. Where girls were standing on the window sill and doing wild things. Again minding my business and here comes security kicking me out. I told the security guard what happen and he said "that guy is always on a power trip" And he claims he told me to leave earlier in the evening but I was only in the business for an hour before being told to leave. I'm not sure who the man is with the very very receding hair line but I hope he never needs service in the fine dining establishment I work at because it'll never happen. Disgusting of the business. There were many other activities going on in there that could've been removable behaviors. Me standing against a wall, sober as can be was not one of them.

Yelp
Went there for the USA versus Wales, World Cup soccer match. It was very crowded but the staff was very friendly and try to get a seating. Pizza is good and the bar upstairs is nice to watch a game.

Marvin J.

Yelp
Good pizza, lots of options from thick crust Sicilian to thin crust, sauce on top etc. Good happy hour until 7 during the week. Downstairs is quiet more of a dining room, upstairs a bar with tables. Becomes more of a nightclub later at night. Overall, good casual place for decent pizza. Not expensive either. Can get a large for $20, which in Center City is a good buy
google avatar

Eric K.

Yelp
Really great food!!! Really great staff and service!!! the pizza is to die for!!! I will be back here again!!!!! Really recommend this place!!!!!

Krista R.

Yelp
Overpriced food that could possibly only taste good after consuming a lot of alcohol, worse customer service! I am not sure how this place is still in business or has any reviews above a one star. If you are looking to have a good time out with friends, then do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
google avatar

Haillie M.

Yelp

Yelp
Top Tomato reached out recently about my previous negative review. After a pleasant exchange, I said I'd give them another shot sometime soon. When I didn't feel like cooking last night, I decided it was time. I kept things simple with a traditional pizza and caesar salad. We were quoted about an hour for the delivery which was accurate. I like my pizza hot and even a little crisp so I already had my oven on 375 when the order arrived. It was hard waiting a few extra minutes for the slices to warm up because the pizza looked great as-is. The caesar salad was solid; lettuce was fresh, there was lots of parmesan cheese and croutons, and I really liked the dressing. The bread that came with was not great - I took a bite and tossed the rest. However, the pizza was solid and the crust had a nice chew, so I used that for caesar dressing dips. Overall, I'm glad I gave Top Tomato another shot. Though they are pricier than one of my go-to traditional pizza spots, I would happily grab a slice or pie while in the area.

Yelp
Delivery from this place is horrendous. We waited an hour and forty minutes for the food to arrive, and called the restaurant several times with no answer. When it finally was delivered they handed me a soaked bag which immediately ripped and all my now cold food spilled onto the floor and rug, splattering sauce everywhere. Also, they sent us the wrong desert, which was also completely smashed. They need to get their shit together.

Yelp
First Time Visitors from CA & Eagles Fans. Go birds! Top Tomato Bar & Pizza is a place not to be missed! It's a Two Story Bar that not only serves good food & drinks but also has a night club on the weekends. It's a two story bar that overlooks the streets of Philadelphia. Not only can you go & watch the football games, you can also expect to vibe to some great music. Very clean and welcoming environment. Ordered some cheese sticks and the Original White Pizza on a Thin Crust which was absolutely amazing! The bread on this joint is not only delicious but it is homemade!! That's right, Homemade! Which makes all the difference. I was lucky enough to meet Sam the owner whom provided great hospitality . I would definitely recommend this joint. Look forward to going back when in Philadelphia. Ask for Sam the Man !

Yelp
I drove, walked, and biked past this spot so many times in the last couple of years while living in Chinatown and never thought to check it out. The kicker is that I've complained about a lack of decent walkable pizza options near my apartment for just as long, being consistently disappointed by forgettable, disappointing pizza after forgettable, disappointing pizza. Well, it took three months in quarantine and a lack of interest in any other place nearby that I could think of, but I finally checked out Top Tomato last night, and as my score should suggest, I was impressed (especially given its middling score here). We only tried one thing, so I'm going to hold off on excessive praise until a now forthcoming second order, but the "Sami's Special" pizza we ordered really hit the spot. It was kind of a "margherita meets plain" fusion - a layer of cheese pizza-style cheese topped with margherita-style blotches of fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce, and basil. Obviously it was nothing wild, but it was a nice tweak of standard pies and worked like a delicious charm. Top Tomato offers a pretty wide selection of pies, a lot of which I'm now curious and eager to try, and I haven't even dipped my toe into the apps and other sections of the menu (well...maybe that's not a good metaphor to use for food reviews now that I think of it), but for now I just hope they all meet the standard set by yesterday's order, because I sure would like a reliable pizza spot again.

Yelp
Review for Too Good to Go $5 pick-up bag It was a full plate of chicken wings. One bag had plain wings with a plate of mac & cheese. Another bag had buffalo wings only and celery. I think for the price, the volume of food is worth while. The taste of the food is pretty standard. They hit the spot if that's what you are looking for late at night. The mac & cheese is pretty light, not overly creamy or heavy. They have a front door runner who can pick up the TG2G bags pretty quickly. Tips/Takeaways: -Something to have on the radar near Jefferson Hospital for any late night munchies

Yelp
Had them for the first time today, wow. Simple food never tasted so good somehow. Everything tasted fresh. People were really nice and wanted to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. I had a sandwich and salad.
